Rahkeem Cornwall, who weighs around 140 kilograms, became the heaviest Test cricketer ever.Rahkeem surpassed former Australia captain Warwick Armstrong, who weighed 133-139 kg.Despite being a hugely talented cricketer, Rahkeem’s weight had delayed his call-up to the senior national team.

Rahkeem Cornwall, the 26-year-old all-rounder from Antigua weighing around 140 kilograms, became the heaviest Test cricketer ever when he was inducted in West Indies’ playing XI for the second Test against India. Rahkeem surpassed former Australia captain Warwick Armstrong, who weighed 133-139 kg, to achieve this feat.

Rahkeem Cornwall, who can hit big sixes at will and get some sharp bounce and turn with his off-spin, has been among the most consistent cricketers in the domestic circuit in the recent past. In West Indies Championships 2018-19, Cornwall picked up 54 wickets at a staggering average of 17.68 runs.

Representing Leeward Islands, Rahkeem has scored 2224 runs in 55 matches and picked up 260 wickets in his first-class career at 23.90. Rahkeem shot to limelight when he shone with his all-round skills in a tour game for West Indies Cricket Board XI vs India in 2016.

Apart from top-scoring with 41 in the 1st innings, Rahkeem Cornwall picked up the wickets of Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane and went on to finish with a 5-wicket haul.

For the same team in 2017, he faced the touring England team and scored an important 59 runs in a partnership of 123, helping his team recover from 55-5 to 233. Cornwall once again played for the Cricket Board President’s XI against Pakistan in a warm-up game during their 2017 tour.

Cornwall came in for medium-pacer Miguel Cummins while wicketkeeper-batsman Jahmar Hamilton became the first cricketer from the US Virgin Islands to play at senior level for the West Indies.

West Indies skipper Jason Holder won the toss and opted to bowl against an unchanged India in the 2nd Test at Sabina Park. West Indies had two debutants in the form of Rahkeem Cornwall and Jahmar Hamilton.

Manasi Joshi won her first gold at the BWF Para-Badminton World Championships

Indian para-badminton star Manasi Joshi clinched her first gold at the BWF Para World Championships in Basel, Switzerland on 25th August.

Indian shuttler PV Sindhu created history by winning the gold medal in BWF World Championships on Sunday. She was in the limelight for all the right reasons. She deserved every bit of praise as she has made the whole nation proud.

But, very few of us know that a day before PV Sindhu won gold, another Indian shuttler Manasi Joshi also won gold for India. It may be in the BWF para-badminton World Championships but it doesn’t matter. She too deserves all the limelight and accolades for her incredible achievement.

Manasi Joshi won her first gold on Saturday. She defeated three-time SL3 (SL3 is a para-badminton category in which players are impaired in one or both lower limbs and have poor walking or running balance) world champion Parul Parmer with a score of 21-12, 21-7, although she opened slow with 2-7.
Joshi had faced Parmer three times this year, and each time, she’d lost. Naturally, the odds weren’t in her favour. Nevertheless, Joshi kept her calm and unleashed a few fast strokes to emerge victorious in what can only be described as a nail-biting finish.

Manasi said to the Paralympic Committee of India: “I have trained extremely hard, training three sessions a day. The focus was on my fitness, so I also lost some weight and gained more muscle. I spent more time in the gym, working six sessions a week. I also put a lot of effort to improve my strokes and played practice matches every day at the Academy. I believe the improvements are already showing.
I’ve been playing para-badminton since 2015. Winning medal at the worlds is always a dream come true.”

Manasi Joshi completed her graduation in Electronics Engineering from K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering, University of Mumbai in 2010.
In 2011, Manasi Joshi lost her left leg in an accident when she was hit by a truck at a busy junction. She also broke her arms and sustained multiple other injuries. After the operation, she ended up with an amputated left leg due to gangrene.
Manasi further added that she now has a new walking prosthesis socket. She said: “The old one which I was using for the last five years was making me slow during workouts.”

manasi joshi

In September 2015, she won silver in mixed doubles at the Para-Badminton World Championship held in Stoke Mandeville, England. In October 2018, Manasi won a bronze medal at the Asian Para Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia.

She looked up to German tennis legend Steffi Graf while growing up. And now she wants to “play more singles matches at other events.” She said: “I hope our event is included as para-sports in the next edition of Paralympic Games.”

Manasi Joshi also congratulated PV Sindhu on her win. She is the epitome of sportsmanship.

Not just Joshi, India claimed a total of 12 medals in the Para-Badminton World Championships this year. But there hasn’t been many hues and cries about it! Isn’t it? But why is it so?

Indian para-badminton player, Sukant Kadam finished with bronze at the championship. He was very disappointed with the current state of the players like him. He has gone to the extent of tweeting to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had earlier posted photos with PV Sindhu to congratulate her.

Let’s hope that all these players who are making India proud and holding the Indian flag high above the others, get their due share of respect. They also deserve the same limelight like the Dhoni’s, Kohli’s, Chhetri’s, Sindhu’s and Das’s.

Ronaldo believes Messi made him a better player

Football is all about respect and Messi and Ronaldo have once again proved that they are only rivals and not enemies.

Cristiano Ronaldo admitted that his long-time rivalry with Lionel Messi has made him “a better player” and that he enjoys a “healthy” rivalry with the Argentine great.

Ronaldo told Portuguese channel TVI: “I really admire the career he has had and from his side, he has already talked of the disappointment when I left Spain because it was a rivalry that he appreciates.
It is a good rivalry that exists in football, but this is no exception. Michael Jordan had rivals in basketball, Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost were great rivals in Formula 1, the only common point between all the big rivalries in the sport is that they are healthy.
Messi makes me a better player and vice versa.”

messi and ronaldo

Ronaldo further added: “I have an excellent professional relationship with Messi because we have been sharing the same moments for 15 years. I have never been to dinner with him but why not in the future? I would have no problem with doing that.”

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi were both present in the UEFA awards ceremony on Thursday. They had made the Ballon d’Or their individual prize for a decade, winning five times apiece before Luka Modric broke their stranglehold last year.

messi ronaldo van dijk

Messi and Ronaldo finished second and third respectively for the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year award for 2018/19, which was won by Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk.

Ronaldo swapped Real Madrid for Juventus in 2018 and Messi recently confessed he has missed having the Portugal international in LaLiga.

Speaking at UEFA’s award ceremony ahead of Thursday’s Champions League draw, Ronaldo thanked Messi for helping him to raise his game and vowed to maintain his high-performance levels. He said : “We have shared the stage [for] 15 years. I don’t know if that’s happened before – the same two guys, all the time. We had that battle in Spain, I pushed him, and he pushed me. So, it’s good to be part of the history of football.
Of course, we have a good relationship. We haven’t had dinner together yet, but maybe in the future! Leo is two years younger than me but I look good for my age. I hope to be here next year and in two or three. People who don’t like me will continue to see me here.”

messi ronaldo van dijk

Messi finished ahead of Ronaldo in the voting to be named as the Forward of the Season for the 2018-19 Champions League. He said: “With Cristiano, it was a beautiful rivalry.
It’s nice to score goals. The goal is always to try to do things to win, before scoring. But if you can win and score, then [it’s] better.”

Ms Dhoni not included in the squad for the upcoming t20 series against South Africa

dhoni Ms Dhoni not included in the squad for the upcoming t20 series against South Africa

Mahendra Singh Dhoni was unavailable for selection in the series, confirms MSK Prasad.

Dhoni had a taken a two month leave from the BCCI which ends on september 20. As the t20 series starts from 15th of september the selectors have not included him.

MS Dhoni will not feature in the 3-match T20I series vs South Africa. His replacement for the series is Rishabh Pant. He is given a chance despite of his off form in the ongoing West Indies tour.

Former captain MS Dhoni is the big name missing from India’s fifteen-member T20 squad to compete against South Africa next month. Chief selector MSK Prasad confirmed that Dhoni had made himself unavailable for the series.

Prasad also said that BCCI is trying to create a healthy bench strength going into the 2020 T20 World Cup.

The clarification confirms what a member close to the Indian cricket legend had told India Today a day earlier that Dhoni, currently in the USA, would not be making himself available.

But both parties – members in Dhoni camp as well as selectors refuse to dwell on what lies ahead for the great man. If Dhoni wants to have another crack at T20 World Cup and whether he is willing to prove his form and fitness in order to make it.

Other notable omissions from the T20 squad are spin twins – Kuldeep Yadav and Yajuvendra Chahal who were not picked in the T20 squad against West Indies as well.

India will play South Africa in Dharamsala (Sept. 15), Mohali (Sept. 18) and Bengaluru (Sept. 22).

India’s squad for 3 T20Is against South Africa: Virat Kohli(Capt), Rohit Sharma(vc), KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Rishabh Pant (WK), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Krunal Pandya, Washington Sundar, Rahul Chahar, Khaleel Ahmed, Deepak Chahar, Navdeep Saini

Xiaomi launches the new RedmiBook 14 with latest 10th Gen Intel Comet Lake CPUs in China

Its been couple of months since Xiaomi launched the original RedmiBook 14 in India alongside the Redmi K20 lineup. Now, Xiaomi has become desperate to compete with other OEMs & laptop manufacturers who are upgrading to 10th Gen Intel CPUs.

The original RedmiBook 14 with 8th Gen Intel CPUs will remain to be the standard ones while those powered by 10th Gen Intel processors will be known as RedmiBook 14 Enhanced Edition with enhanced features and functionalities.

RedmiBook 14 with 10th Gen Intel CPUs launched

Specs & Features

From the design perspective, there’s no change honestly, just a tweak in the horsepower and obviously to the laptop’s hardware as a whole. Yes, the light & compact RedmiBook 14 Enhanced Edition now comes with 10th Gen Intel Comet Lake CPUs.

It’s great to see a huge smartphone manufacturing company who has just started the laptop business for a few years now to suddenly adapt to the latest Intel CPUs that has only been launched for a week now as well as bring to the customers so fast.

So for the horsepower, under the hood, you get to choose between Intel Core i5-10210U or Core i7-10510U processor. This seems to be a huge upgrade from the 8th Gen Whiskey Lake CPUs, giving more performance to the users.

RedmiBook 14 with 10th Gen Intel CPUs launched

The Core-i5 powered variant has been coupled with 8GB RAM and up to 512GB SSD storage (also there’s a 256GB SSD variant). On the other hand, the Core-i7 variant comes in a single configuration with 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD storage.

The laptop is powered by a discrete GPU – 2GB of NVIDIA GeForce MX250 GPU which is great for handling some graphics-intensive tasks as well as for casual gaming.

Rest of the specs remains same to the original RedmiBook 14 like the 14-inch Full-HD display wth 250 nits of peak brightness. Also, there’s the 46Wh battery that promises a great battery life as well.

For the ports & I/O, we have 2 USB-A 3.0 ports, 1 USB 2.0 port, HDMI port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

RedmiBook 14 with 10th Gen Intel CPUs launched

Pricing & Availability

The RedmiBook 14 Enhanced Edition will be available in three types of configurations carrying different CPU & storage options along with different pricing:

Core i5-10210U + 256GB SSD3,999 yuan (Rs.40,000)
Core i5-10210U + 512GB SSD4,499 yuan (Rs.45,000)
Core i7-10510U + 512GB SSD4,999 yuan (Rs.50,000)

We already know how cheap the RedmiBook is, now with the latest Intel CPUs the MSRP seems quite reasonable too. Till now we saw only the Silver colour variant but Xiaomi also launched the Grey and Pink colour variants of the RedmiBook 14 as well.

This new and refreshed laptop is now up for pre-orders and the first sale of the device has been scheduled for September 6 from Mi.com, Mi Home, and other online stores in China.

Though how great the RedmiBooks might be but they do not seem to arrive in India as it requires a lot of arrangement and infrastructure to crave the demand for a huge country like India. Maybe sometime later you can get hold of one at higher rates through some Chinese websites that ship to India.

Robert Lewandowski has signed a new contract with Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich have confirmed that Robert Lewandowski has signed a new four-year contract.

Robert Lewandowski is one of the best strikers of this generation. No club would want a scenario where Lewandowski would walk away from their club. He had a contract until June 2021 with Bayern. But for a player of his calibre, it’s too risky not to offer him a better contract to keep him at the club.

The 31-year-old Poland striker joined Bayern Munich from Borussia Dortmund in 2014 and has since scored 197 goals in 247 appearances – six of which have already come this season.

Lewandowski is at his prolific best. He has already scored five goals in two Bundesliga games this season. He has now committed his future to the club through to 2023. Therefore, he could spend the rest of his career at the Allianz Arena, having established his place as one of the world’s top strikers.

Lewandowski told the club’s official website: “FC Bayern has become my sporting home. Besides, my family and I are happily settled in Munich. I’m convinced we’ll achieve a lot in the next few years.
FC Bayern are one of the three biggest clubs in the world, and we have an outstanding team. I’m proud to be part of this club.”

Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: “For me, Robert is the world’s best centre-forward, and he’s been a mainstay of our team for years. So we’re extremely pleased he’ll continue to play for FC Bayern for a long time.
We’re certain that together with Robert we’ll achieve our ambitious goals in the upcoming season and in the years to come.”

Barcelona can announce Neymar today: Rakitic, Dembele to be swapped

Barcelona plans Neymar announcement as Rakitic to be bought permanently & Dembele to be loaned: The Catalan Giants will now pay 125 million euros to PSG

Only 3 days of the transfer window is remaining now and it’s getting more intense regarding the Neymar transfer. According to the latest report, there’s a lot of thing going on in Paris where the negotiations are going on for Neymar Jr.

With lots of haggling and negotiations, it seems finally we are likely to see an end to this. Both the LaLiga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid have been part of this race but the last move will surely secure Barca’s fate for the Brazilian Superstar.

According to SPORT, PSG who was keen on getting hold of Ousmane Dembele, 22, on the other hand, Barcelona representatives were firm on keeping Dembele at the club. Now, finally, after a lot of negotiations, it seems Barcelona are ready to spare Dembele and drag him as a major part of this Neymar deal.

Barcelona could accept Dembele’s PSG move in the form of a loan. Dembele’s agent Moussa Sissoko emphatically denied any links with the Ligue 1 holders on Wednesday, stating that his client was not interested in this Neymar swap deal.

But apparently it seems that Sissoko has in fact begun conversations with PSG, who have also reached out to Rakitic’s representatives to push a deal through.

Coming to the Croatian midfielder Ivan Rakitic, 31, who proves to be the key man to resolving this complex deal. PSG already demanded Dembele but now they want Rakitic as well to strengthen their midfield.

PSG’s sporting director Leonardo is the key man negotiating this deal which would see Dembele move on loan and Rakitic brought in permanently, while Barcelona would also have to pay a huge £125million euros (around £113m) transfer fee to PSG.

The Ligue 1 giants will be comfortable to have Dembele as their winger as a replacement for Neymar Jr and Rakitic adding weight to their not-so-great midfield.

At first, Rakitic was firm to stay at Barcelona but when he was not included in the first two opening league fixtures, he understands that he is not anymore useful to the club. This is especially due to Frenkie de Jong who apparently has soaked himself as an important part for the team.

Coutinho is already out to Bayern and if another two big players get reduced, Barcelona can have enough funds to pay the hefty wage for Neymar Jr.

Neymar has been linked with a return to La Liga, either to Barca or Real Madrid, ever since he failed to turn up on time for pre-season training. He has also been excluded from the squad of all the league matches of PSG this season and he has now apparently grown tired of his life in Paris.

PSG fans also dislike Neymar now, in the opening match against Nimes they displayed offensive banners and sang X-rated chants telling Neymar to “go away”.

In this situation, PSG is desperate to get rid off Neymar Jr. who was brought in to the club with a record transfer fee of £198m two years ago. Neymar did play a significant role in winning the league title for the club with key teammates like Mbappé and Cavani.

Spanish outlet El Chiringuito says that the La Liga champs want to announce Neymar’s arrival today. Barcelona director Javier Bordas also told reporters in Spain: “We are getting closer.”

Barcelona is hoping to achieve a destructive front-line consisting of Neymar, Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Antoine Griezmann. Also, they would like to see the club win the Champions League title since 2015 after bidding the last farewell to Liverpool in the semis.

Neymar sat out of current side Paris Saint-Germain’s 4-0 victory over Toulouse on Sunday but he appeared to be closely following Barca’s 5-2 thrashing of Real Betis. In that match, Antoine Griezmann notched up a brace, with Carles Perez, Jordi Alba and Arturo Vidal also getting their names on the scoresheet.

Barca’s old boy ‘liked’ posts from Griezmann, who did post a snap of him celebrating with glitter, and Sergi Rodrigo, who showed off his celebration with the Frenchman. This is a clear indication of Neymar will be back to Barcelona. Now its a matter of hours or days for the official announcement.
