Borussia Dortmund have signed teenage sensation Erling Braut Haaland

Borussia Dortmund have beaten off competition from top European clubs to get the signature of Erling Braut Haaland.

Borussia Dortmund have won the race to sign the much-coveted 19-year-old from Red Bull Salzburg. The Norwegian striker has been the taking point of this season.

Haaland has agreed to join Dortmund on a deal that will run until the end of the 2023-24 season.

Haaland has only spent a year with Salzburg. The Austrian club signed him from Molde. During his time at Salzburg, he rose to prominence with his scoring feats at both domestic and European level. He found the net in his first five appearances in the Champions League group stage.

He said in a statement published on Salzburg’s official website: “My move to Salzburg was the best decision of my life so far. So much has happened in the last year, it’s hard to believe. I had the opportunity to learn so much in a perfect environment and in a short time. I am extremely grateful to everyone in the club for this.”

“I am proud to have been part of this team and I wish everyone that the season in Salzburg can continue so successfully.
For me, the journey continues at Borussia Dortmund, but I will always look back to Salzburg with joy.”

Salzburg sporting director Christoph Freund said: “It is unbelievable how Erling developed with us and what outstanding achievements he has achieved together with our team. We are proud that we were able to bring another young player to this level of performance.”

Haaland’s heroics

The teenager has scored a remarkable 28 goals in 22 appearances across all competitions this season. A tally of 16 goals in 14 Austrian Bundesliga games is impressive, but Haaland’s most notable performances came at the highest level of European club football.

Haaland scored a hat-trick on his Champions League debut against Genk on 17th September. He became the first teenager to score more than one goal on his maiden appearance in the competition since Wayne Rooney in 2004.

He scored more goals against Liverpool and Napoli to take his tally to seven goals from just four games. It is a record haul for a teenager in a Champions League campaign. He swiftly surpassed the previous benchmark of six goals set by Raul and Kylian Mbappe.

He then went on to become only the third player, after Alessandro Del Piero and Diego Costa, to score in his first five matches in the competition when he grabbed another goal against Genk on 27th November.

Prior to his Champions League heroics, Haaland also made quite the impression at the Under-20 World Cup in May. In a shockingly one-sided 12-0 win for Norway against Honduras, Haaland scored nine goals, breaking the previous individual record of six goals held by Brazil’s Adailton.

Haaland’s new journey

Borussia Dortmund have beaten off reported competition from the likes of Manchester United, Juventus and RB Leipzig to sign the 19-year-old. German outlet Kicker claim the transfer fee is in the region of €20m.

Haaland will move to Dortmund as soon as the transfer window officially opens on 1st January and he will link up with his new team-mates at the club’s winter training camp in Marbella on 3rd January.

Haaland told the club’s official website: “I had intensive discussions with the club management and the sports management, especially with Hans-Joachim Watzke, Michael Zorc and trainer Lucien Favre.”

“There was a feeling right from the start that I absolutely wanted to switch to this club, go this route and play football in this incredible Dortmund atmosphere in front of more than 80,000 spectators. I’m already burning for it.”

Haaland could make his debut when Lucien Favre’s side travel to face Augsburg in the Bundesliga on 18th January.

MediaTek Dimensity 1000L outperforms Snapdragon 765G in AnTuTu

0

The much-awaited two new SoCs have been benchmarked and now we have the results! The even more superior 7nm based MediaTek’s Density 1000 SoC has been benchmarked against the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G which is not fair but considering the price points, this seems to be a more realistic battle.

According to the leaked AnTuTu benchmark, the upcoming Snapdragon 765G-powered OPPO Reno 3 Pro is up against the MediaTek Dimensity 1000L-powered OPPO Reno 3. It is surprising to see that the Reno 3 which will surely be cheaper than the “Pro” variant outperforms the latter in both CPU and GPU performance.

MediaTek Dimensity 1000L outperforms Snapdragon 765G in AnTuTu

The Snapdragon 765G comprises of two Cortex-A76 performance cores and one of it is clocked up to 2.4 GHz, and the other performance core reaches up to 2.2 GHz. The six other Cortex-A55 based efficiency cores still go up to 1.8 GHz, not a huge improvement as compared to Snapdragon 730 in clock speeds.

The 7nm based MediaTek Dimensity 1000 features four high-end Cortex-A77 cores clocked at 2.6GHz which is the main reason for the better performance of this SoC and we have four Cortex-A55 power-efficient cores clocked at 2.2GHz.

MediaTek Dimensity 1000L outperforms Snapdragon 765G in AnTuTu

In the CPU test, the MediaTek Dimensity 1000L has scored a record total of 126,692 points while the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G came off with a score of only 102,230 which means 24% better CPU performance by this MediaTek SoC.

In the GPU front, we always knew that the Mali GPUs are typically worse than Qualcomm’s Adreno GPU series, but in the case of MediaTek Dimensity 1000L, it manages to outperform the Snapdragon 765G graphically as well.

The Mali-G77 MP9 GPU scores a whopping 99,250, a 6% improved performance over the Snapdragon 765G’s Adreno 620 GPU that scores 93,977 points. However, we see the Pro variant to score 67,632 and 56,983 points for Memory and UX, compared to slightly lower scores of 67,349 and 44,378 points of the standard Reno 3.

MediaTek Dimensity 800 chipset for mid-range smartphones announced

Well, one thing is clear, the new MediaTek Dimensity 1000L SoC will be a revolutionary one for MediaTek especially in the premium performing smartphone segment.

Obviously it will not be against the much more premium Snapdragon 865 but if the chip is available in mid-range devices, we can enjoy a premium performance which we would only rely till now on Qualcomm. MediaTek’s market revived from the advent of their Helio P series and then the new Helio G90T outperforming the Snapdragon 730G.

Now, we see the same case with the new Dimensity 1000L that deliberately crushes the Snapdragon 765G, just can’t wait to see these new devices in the coming year. All these smartphones using both MediaTek and Snapdragon SoCs will be 5G ready as well.

The secret behind Lionel Messi’s free-kick success

0

Messi has revealed the secret behind the recent increase in his set-piece conversion rate.

Lionel Messi is arguably the greatest free-kick taker since the last few seasons. His goalscoring record from a set-piece is incredible.

The Barcelona captain had scored 6 goals from 41 set-piece attempts on goal last season. In this season he has done even better. He has already scored 4 goals from 12 efforts this season.

Messi has an enormous amount of talent in his left foot. He has a brain in his leg. And now he has combined his talent with a little bit of homework and training. This has resulted in a better set-piece conversation rate this season.

messi

Messi said: Recently I have been looking into it, and especially in free-kicks, to see if they move before, if they make a small movement, if not, how they react, how they place the wall.
It’s true that I am now studying this a bit more. But everything is work and training, I have been getting better with training.”

LaLiga have turned 90th this season. Messi is the all-time record goalscorer of LaLiga with 432 goals. But he struggled to find the net in his early days at Barcelona in 2004. But Cameroon legend Samuel Eto’o game him some advice and it worked.

messi and eto'o

Messi told LaLiga’s official website: “I remember many times Eto’o told me, ‘the day you start scoring goals, you’re going to be…’ Because he had a lot of chances and he didn’t score [at the start of his career].”

“The first few years, it was difficult for me to score goals; either I was missing or I didn’t have any luck. Until one day everything opened up, [then] they went in and all started going in.”

Messi holds his record of being the highest LaLiga goalscorer with great esteem. He said:” To be the top historical scorer of LaLiga, with what the Spanish league means, is special. To be honest I think that this is one of the best records I have.”

“Every time I go out on the pitch, I think less about the goal and more about the game.”

The year 2019 has been really great with a bunch of new CPUs and APUs. 2019 will be remembered to the year for 7nm CPUs as the key player here, AMD has stepped up the game with their Zen 2 CPUs and overtook the market that was predominantly captured by the Team Blue.

Thanks to the Ryzen 3000 processors which have completely changed the game for AMD. Before this AMD was an option for productivity works only but now with the superiority of the Ryzen 3000, AMD CPUs have impressive gaming performance as well.

With a large amount of cache, higher clock speeds and with the 7nm goodness these CPUs are the best ones. The market has totally shifted to Team Red this year and the reports are proof of it. From tech enthusiasts to gamers, everyone has only one word in their mouth – “RYZEN”

Intel is truly facing a hard time out there, instead of going 10nm they are still tick-tocking their historic 14nm architecture. Whereas AMD is just dominating the CPU market from consumer-level to HEDT and even on the server business as well.

When AMD is planning to go 5nm in the coming years, it is hard to see the league leaders fail to bring 10nm CPUs even in 2019, which they really promise to do in 2020. So here are the best CPUs of 2019 which you can readily buy for your system and have a great holiday. 😉

Best Entry Level CPU: AMD Athlon 3000G
