Apple’s M1 chipset gets native support for Windows productivity suite

0

The wait is finally over, and we now have Microsoft office’s native support for M1 chip architecture to Windows productivity suite. Many users have been using the office for M1 Mac, but they were missing out on most of the features and overall true system integrity.

The announcement came from Microsoft, where the company stated that its new office update brings native support for Apple’s new custom chip architecture to the Windows productivity suite. The apps getting the updates are Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and OneNote. Unfortunately, Teams are not getting the update.

Apple M1 chip: The fastest chip made by Apple, ever!

According to sources, the update will make the apps universal. It means that the same versions will run on both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs, so any upcoming updates or features will be coming simultaneously for both platforms.

For businesses and professionals that heavily depend on Microsoft’s Teams will be disappointed since the update doesn’t include the Teams app’s new features. But the software giant has promised that it is working on it.

For users of Office on M1 Macs and have automatic updates turned on should have the new versions sometime today. The rest can easily update it through the Mac App Store or Microsoft’s AutoUpdate software. Outlook users will have an added advantage as they not only get native Apple Silicon support, but they will also receive support for iCloud accounts. It will allow them to sync their email, contacts, and calendars to the app if they use Apple’s service to store them.

Twitter will officially shut-down Periscope from March 2021

0

Periscope lets you share an experience with others. Press a button, and instantly notify your followers that you’re living. Periscope gives you a new set of eyes and ears. Travel the world and step into someone else’s shoes. See what they see, hear what they hear, and hopefully feel what they feel. Watching a broadcast isn’t a passive experience like television.

Twitter announced that it’d be shutting down Periscope as a service. The company will officially discontinue the Periscope applications by March 2021. however, the company will continue to offer live video streaming through its integrated Twitter Live feature within the main Twitter app.

“The Periscope app is in an unsustainable maintenance-mode state and has been for a while. Over the past couple of years, we’ve seen declining usage and know that the cost to support the app will only continue to go up over time.”

According to sources, Twitter is actively blocking any new account signups starting in the latest update to the apps, which is rolling out today. It has provided its users with a chance to download an archive of their Periscope videos and their data before the app is shuttered next year.

It has provided its broadcasters with the option to cash out tips given to them by followers. They have until April 30th, 2021, to finish cashing out their tips. The service repurchased by Twitter in March 2015 will see its last days on March 2021.

Six years back, when the concept of streaming was taking off. The service had the entire social media presence of twitter to back it up. Unfortunately, we all knew that one day the end of the service would come inevitably, and it seems the time has come to bid it farewell.

According to sources, Twitter moved “most of the core capabilities of Periscope” into Twitter Live. It started shuttering Periscope as a separate service, allowing it to build out further that live streaming functionality in the future. All this eventually led Twitter to slowly weed out Periscope until its latest service announcement was officially discontinued.

Team Group announces successful production of its DDR5 technology

0

The demand for high-performing gadgets has increased in the market, and with that, the manufacturers’ requirement to boost their production houses has also increased un-preceding. However, as we already know, most graphics card and CPU manufacturers face a shortage of both the DDR4 and DDR5 technology.

Recently, Team Group announced that it has successfully produced DDR5 memory technology and will soon be ready for mass production. The OEM describes itself as a “global leader in computer memory” and is responsible for the T-Force and T-Create series of DDR4 products. It also manufactures SSDs, USB drives, and flash memory.

The OEM venturing into the next-gen DDR5 shows us just how much of a demand high-performing modules have in the market. According to sources, Team Group has sent its new DDR5 tech to several OEMs for validation.

Reports indicate that companies like MSI, Asus, Gigabyte, and ASRock, are working with their counterparts from Team Group to see how their respective new hardware can work together. Team Group reported that it would soon start selling modules of 16GB each, at a speed of 4800MHz.

The operating volume of the new modules is similar to that of SK Hynix. It has an operating volume of 1.1 volts (V). Team Group asserts that these specs can end the need for overclocking to reach such speeds as with DDR4. As to whether the company will start the mass production by Q1 of 2021 is not yet known. The sooner the OEM starts its manufacturing, the faster it will solve various other OEMs facing lack of shortage of DDR5.

Huami launches two new smartwatches in its Chinese market

We earlier saw the launch of Amazfit GTS 2 Mini by Huami. But reportedly, the manufacturer has launched two more of its products in its Chinese market. According to sources, the two new devices are called the Amazfit GTS 2e and GTR 2e and are exclusive to a Chinese audience.

The GTS 2e has a design that resembles the Apple Watch. It features a rectangular body and screen as well as a crown/button on the right-hand side. On the other hand, the GTR 2e has a more distinctive circular design and two buttons on the right-hand side. The watches sports OLED screens; the GTS 2e comes with a 1.65-inch while the GTR 2e offers a 1.39-inch display.

Most of the features of the devices are similar. Some of the shared features of the devices include:

  • 5ATM water resistance
  • blood oxygen measurements
  • heart-rate tracking
  • intelligent tracking for six sports modes
  • sleep tracking
  • PAI health assessment suite
  • Xiaomi’s XiaoAI assistant support
  • NFC support
  • temperature measurement tool for taking ambient and skin temperatures
Huami launches two new smartwatches in its Chinese market

The critical difference between both the products is that the Amazfit GTS 2e has a 246mAh battery that delivers 14 days of juice. Meanwhile, the GTR 2e has a 471mAh battery and should easily last up to 24 days of everyday usage. Either way, this looks like a significant endurance upgrade over the GTS 2 and GTR 2.

But unfortunately, there are some things which the new watches are lacking. According to sources, both devices have ditched the Wi-Fi feature. It means that you have to tether your phone more often. They also lack the independent music player to listen to tunes without your phone.

Regarding their prices, the new smartwatches are available in China for 799 yuan (~$122), and if the manufacturer decides to launch their products in a global market. Then it will come in under the GTS 2 and GTR 2’s $180 price tag.

Cyberpunk 2077 has better performance on PS5 but better visuals on Xbox Series X

0

Cyberpunk 2077 is finally out and has already turned into a major disappointment for the PS4 and Xbox One users. We have already heard the public apology from CD PROJECT RED and how the users of PS4 and Xbox One can file for their refund. It is clear news that the game sucks on last-gen consoles, but what about the next-gen consoles?

According to sources, The tech-heads at Digital Foundry recently put the PS5 and Xbox Series X and S to the test, and the results are a ray of hope for the gamers. It is worth noting that the title runs via backward compatibility on both PS5 and Xbox Series X.

On PlayStation 5, users are stuck with PS4 Pro settings and resolution, which maxes out at 1188p. However, on Xbox Series X, they can choose between Performance mode, 1080p/60fps, and Quality mode, which runs between 1512p and 1728p but adds a bit more visual flair, including increased crowd density, ambient occlusion, and more detailed reflections, all at a locked 30fps.

It was found that in terms of performance, Sony’s next-gen console maintains a pretty steady 60fps, with occasional dips to the low 50s when driving. Meanwhile, Microsoft’s Xbox Series X’s 1080p Performance mode struggles more than the PS5, dropping as low a 40fps during more frantic firefights.

Thus, if we compare the results, there is no obvious winner here. In terms of performance, Sony’s PlayStation 5 is probably the best bet. But if you are more concerned with the visual quality and don’t mind a downgrade to 30fps, by all means, go for Xbox Series X.

But it is worth remembering that CDPR will release two more updates of Cyberpunk 2077 in January and February. So the performance results are still not final.

Leeds United interested in Daniel James on loan in January

Leeds United are interested to get the services of Wales winger Daniel James.

Leeds United are back in Premier League after 16 years and have already shown their impact in the Premier League. Leeds are now 14th in the table with 14 points from the first 12 games. The attacking football they have shown is a treat for all the football fans.

To make their attack stronger they want Daniel James from their old rival Manchester United. Daniel James joined Manchester United last summer from Swansea City for £15 million. He put an explosive start in United jersey by scoring 3 goals in his first 4 Premier League matches. But since then he has not scored any goals in Premier League. James has played 52 matches for Manchester United scoring only 5 goals along with 6 assists.

Daniel James is now not a regular starter for Manchester United. Mason Greenwood took his place at the end of last season and outshone his performance. He has made only 6 appearances this season. He was even overlooked in the absence of Anthony Martial and Edinson Cavani this season.

In January, Amad Diallo will also join Manchester United. The 18-year-old promising youngster has proved his worth for Atalanta. It will be tough for Daniel James to get any game time at Old Trafford.

Leeds United are offering a chance to the Wales winger to get more first-team minutes. Leeds United was interested to sign Daniel James in January 2019 but he chose to go to Manchester instead. Leeds are again interested in him now.
