Argentina look up to Leo, No mercy promises Nigeria

The Russia World Cup without Argentina was a real possibility around October 2017.
The team, with only seven wins out of 17 matches, needed a win against Ecuador in their last qualifying game.

That time Messi, went forward to net the ball home.
But this time he has failed to showcase his genius in Russia so far, as Iceland and Croatia — marking him heavily — have managed to keep him under control.

With just a point from two group games, Argentina is in dire need for its talisman to fire against its final group stage opponent Nigeria and ensure a longer stay in the Russia world cup.

Javier Mascherano, with an experience of playing three World Cups, understands the importance of the situation and said: “We know the situation is tricky. We have to be united, to express our opinions, and do everything possible so the team goes into the game in the best position.”

Thus Argentina might opt to play with a two-man frontline with Juventus pair Gonzalo Higuain and Paolo Dybala operating ahead of Messi in a 4-3-1-2 formation.

On the other hand, Nigeria promises no mercy for Argentina in their last group game.The scenario is such that a draw against Argentina would be enough for Nigeria to qualify, if Iceland loses to Croatia.

The Nigerian coach Gernot Rohr said “Sometimes, when you play for a draw, you get punched in the face late in the day. It will be a tough game and we must go with a tough mentality from the start to the end.”

Thus Nigeria is expected to adopt a 4-2-3-1 formation, moving away from the more attacking 3-5-2 system employed in the win over Iceland.

The rest tactics would only be revealed when the game progresses.

  2. To qualify for the Round of 16, Argentina need to beat Nigeria and pray that Iceland loses against Croatia
  3. If Iceland beats Croatia, Argentina will need to beat Nigeria by two more goals than the number of goals Iceland scored to win their match

That man is Lionel Messi, whose inability to win a world cup trophy with the current Argentine squad has dogged his record breaking career. Argentina currently sit at fourth place in Group D and faces second-placed Nigeria in their last group match today at 11:30 P.M. IST.

From Group D, with 6 points, Croatia sit on top of the table and only need one point against Iceland to win the group. Nigeria with 4 points can top the group table if they beat Argentina and Croatia lose to Iceland, as well as if Nigeria’s goal difference improves ahead of Croatia.

Struggling to make their mark, Iceland will aim for nothing less than a win.

A win against Argentina will guarantee Nigeria a place in the second round.

A draw may also be enough even if Iceland beat already-qualified Croatia, depending on goal difference.

For Argentina, they must beat Nigeria and hope Iceland do not win against Croatia, as that could send them home again depending on goal difference.

Messi’s Russian campaign threatens to be remembered for the poor penalty kick. It costed Argentina’s victory over Iceland. Then there was the under rated performance that followed by a 3-0 loss against Croatia. Argentina’s chances are hanging by a thread and unless Messi’s own performances improve, he will likely retire from the international stage without being a world champion given that he will be 35 when the next World Cup comes around in four years.

“It means so much because for Argentina the World Cup is special – and for me too. I’ve always had the dream of watching me raise the World Cup. And then seeing the emotion that goes with it. As a speculation around Messi’s retirement, the 31-year-old made a strong statement on whether or not he will hang his boots after Tuesday’s fixture. “I have won all the most important tournaments but I am ambitious to the end. I would not likely to retire from active football without being a world champion with my country”, Messi was quoted as saying by Mirror UK.

Xiaomi has launched another smartphone series with the latest trend of notch display. The Xiaomi Mi 8 series is launched last month on 31st May. The Mi Explorer version has a transparent glass back design. Other variants may not have a transparent back, but still the transparent back design has the best look so far. Xiaomi Mi 8 comes with MIUI 9.5 but not with the latest MIUI 10, whereas the design is impressing and the curves at the edges are smoother than other variants. It has dual GPS system which gives more accurate location access according to the officials. The price of Mi 8 is 2699 Yuan, which means that this device will be priced around Rs.28000 in India, which is a bit high priced for a Mi device in the current competition. The camera of this device is more or less same compared to their previous mid-ranger models.

This variant of Xiaomi Mi 8 is the most interesting. This version comes with all the good things in one. This Mi 8 Explorer has a transparent glass back which allows seeing all the internals. The Qualcomm Snapdragon chip can be seen which adds on a beauty to the view. This variant comes with 8GB RAM and has no physical figure print sensor, it comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor. It is priced at 3699 Yuan, which converts exactly into Rs.38598.93 and from this we can conclude that it will be priced around Rs.38500 in the Indian market.

This variant carries the same SE in its name as Apple smartphones. With 1799 Yuan, Mi 8 SE is the budget oriented smartphone of the series. In Indian market this device will launch with the price around Rs.18500 to Rs.19500. This Mi 8 SE version has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710, the only smartphone with the Snapdragon 700 series within this price range, which is going to be something new from both Qualcomm and Xiaomi. Mi 8 SE comes with 64 GB ROM, 4/6 GB RAM and 3120mAh battery and the primary camera is of 12 MP + 5 MP.

Germany’s loss at the Luzhniki stadium was due to a counter strike from the Mexican goal scorer Lozano. This was Germany’s first lossin a World Cup opener since 1982.

Mexico’s key defensive tactic involved man-marking Toni Kroos, Germany’s playmaker. Kroos was followed calmly by Carlos Vela, who made it all the more tough for the Germans to move forward.

As the supply line from Kroos to the strikers was cut-off , it was left to Boateng to spread poisonous crosses into the final third.

 

 

Even the 25 yard free-kick of Kroos was saved by the Mexican keeper Ochoa.
Germany’s right back Joshua Kiimmich played a totally attacking minded game. Throughout the game he put forward important diagonal balls to the forward line, but every try went into vane because of Mexico’s deep defence line.

Germany’s right back position was left vacant over and over again due to Kimmich’s high line tendencies. Thus Germany’s whole denense line created enough space for the Mexicans to produce considerable threats through counter attacks…

 

 

Mesut Ozil tried to cover this vacant space made by Kiimmich, but could not ultimately hold on.Lozano turned inside with a through ball from Hernandez to hammer a final nail to Germany’s coffin.

Thus now after the Mexico defeat, Germany is in a must win situation, whereas the win over Korea sees Sweden arrive for today’s match in strong position. No one can take anything for granted at this FIFA World Cup, not even the reigning champions.

 

 

Sweden is believed to pose another stern test for the Germans, who would have to display more creativity and be less predictable going forward.
Nevertheless the German blood never dies before it actually dies. Hence a competitive match is expected tonight. Lets see whether the defending champions can recover from the first loss or not.
