Zoom surpasses AMD in terms of market value, now valued at $67.43 billion

0

Video conferencing apps have seen a huge demand after the COVID-19 pandemic started as most people still prefer to stay at their home and continue their work. So, naturally the use of applications like Skype, Zoom and Google Meet has seen a huge spike and among all of them, undoubtedly, Zoom has seen the highest usage of its platform in last couple of months.

In spite of getting into a lot of security concerns and controversies due to its involvement with China, people can’t help using the platform even though they have a lot of alternatives these days. Zoom has still managed to serve as the technological backbone to the world’s transition into remote work and education during this pandemic.

Zoom surpasses AMD in terms of market value, now valued at $67.43 billion

According to the latest reports, Zoom has overtaken large companies such as AMD and Unilever with regards to valuation. When there are lots of other video conferencing applications out there, people appear to enjoy using Zoom, probably due to the features it provides and the fact that it’s completely free to use. Whatever it’s, the business is currently on top of its game as its market value touched a whopping $67.43 billion.

Zoom has grown bigger than giants from a wide variety of sectors: Regeneron Pharmaceuticals ($66.4 billion); Unilever ($64 billion); General Electric ($63.33 billion); CME Group ($62.6 billion); and Colgate-Palmolive ($62.4 billion). Consequently, if Zoom carries on to grow at this rate, it’ll soon surpass major players such as Goldman Sachs and mining giant, Rio Tinto.

With the growth in evaluation, the California based firm saw an enormous rise in the purchase price of its stocks. In accordance with the report, Zoom’s inventory is currently priced at 250% greater than what it was at the start of this year. The cost rose from $68.72 per stock to a whopping $239.02 per stock. You can take a look at a table that shows the growth in stock prices and Zoom.

When almost all sectors have been hit due to the pandemic, the free-to-use platform Zoom has managed to skyrocket its usage among users across the globe and in fact, became one of the largest video-conferencing platforms ever. With such progress, Zoom is likely to expand further but will it surpass the likes of Goldman Sachs? that remains a matter to look out for.

TSMC has replaced lost Huawei orders already after the US trade ban

0

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. or TSMC had a strong business relation with China’s Huawei Technologies Co. as the Taiwanese firm formerly sold chips to HiSilicon, with Huawei accounting for about 15% of TSMC’s total business.

But, following the May directive by the U.S. Department of Commerce, TSMC was forced to cut off all its relationship with Huawei. The U.S. Regulations, passed on May 15, prohibit producers from providing semiconductors to Huawei if U.S. gear is utilized at any point of creation, according to Fortune.

Huawei’s chips are widely used in their smartphones and being the worlds second-largest smartphone manufacturer, it has to have a lot of them to meet its demands. The Huawei’s chip design unit, HiSilicon, also uses American software to create its semiconductors, while components of TSMC’s manufacturing equipment is also made from the U.S., according to Fortune.

Commenting on this Kung Ming-hsin, head of Taiwan’s economic planning agency the National Development Council, said that Washington was worried about a certain firm, not Taiwan’s economic relations with China, Reuters reported. The US mainly targeted Huawei since it lacked transparency and had too close of a relationship with the Chinese authorities, Kung added.

“As for the TSMC, although their orders are no longer Huawei, they have rapidly been filled up, as other individuals actually need them,” Reuters cited Kung as saying. TSMC declined to pass any comment, saying it didn’t comment on its own customers. However, as per leaks heard before, most likely we will see AMD and NVIDIA taking up those spare 7nm chips to use them into their next-gen GPUs.

TSMC has already announced last month that it’d be constructing a US$12 billion semiconductor centre in Arizona while the onstruction is set to start in 2021, on the other hand, with chip production slated to begin by 2024. Indeed a good time for TSMC as they are progressing at a rapid pace, their upcoming target being 5nm production, early stages of 3nm chips, development of 2nm chips and their speculated revelation of 4nm based process as well.

Xiaomi Mi Band 5 clears BIS certification, India launch soon

There’s no denial of the fact that Xioami is the no 1 wearable brand in India and its Mi Band series is accepted as hot cakes in India. So, Xiaomi will not waste any time to bring the recently launched Mi Band 5 to India amid #BoycottChina products movement. Recently the device has cleared the BIS certification as per Gizmochina and as they say, India could be one of the first markets to receive the fitness tracker apart from its native country.

Xiaomi Mi Band 5 clears BIS certification, India launch soon

The Mi Band 5 has NFC and non-NFC variants and Xiaomi will likely be selling the NFC version of the Mi Band 5 in the global markets. The XMSH10HM model number that has been spotted on the database of BIS seems likely to be the Xiaomi Mi Band 5. Previously, Xiaomi launched the Mi Band 4 in China in June and it made its way to India in September.

Likewise, the Mi Band 3 was also unveiled in India in the month of September, so possibly Xiaomi eyes for a September launch as well.

Xiaomi Mi Band 5 Specs

Mi Band 5 features a larger 1.1-inch coloured AMOLED display that features over 100 new animated watch faces. The sensor set is unchanged – accelerometer, heart rate monitor, barometer, and gyroscope.

Mi Band 5 to feature a bigger display, SpO2 sensor & magnetic charger

This device has 11 sport modes or  “professional modes” and offers Personal Activity Intelligence (PAI) Activity Index that helps users track and understand their fitness activity even better. Additionally, to efficiently track sleeping patterns, the Mi Band 5 comes with an improved sleep monitoring system.

Xiaomi claims that the sleep monitoring accuracy feature is improved by 40%. Mi Band 5 can also recognize five of the main swimming styles automatically. The band itself can be submerged in up to 50 meters of water.

The new PPG sensor is 50% more accurate than its predecessor giving more accurate heart ratings by monitoring it. The Mi Band 5 further now can help female users can now track their menstrual cycle with the women’s health mode. Users will also get social media notifications, music control, incoming calls, text, weather updates, and more on the smart band.

Xiaomi Mi Band 5 clears BIS certification, India launch soon

The remote smartphone camera control is now available to the Mi Band 5, this feature will help users to remotely control their smartphone camera shutter on their will. The NFC variant of the Mi Band 5 will allow users to make payments via the band.

Xiaomi claims that the NFC variant of the Mi Band 5 offers 14 days of battery life while the standard version is said to last up to 20 days on a single charge. This Band 5 supports an unseen magnetic charging system that lets users charge the device without taking the straps off. The smart band comes with Black, Blue, Pink, Orange, Purple, Yellow, and Green strap options.

The non-NFC version of the Mi Band 5 has priced at CNY 189 (roughly Rs. 2,000), while the NFC variant of the fitness tracker will retail at CNY 229 (roughly Rs. 2,500). So, it will be interesting to see how Xiaomi prices the Mi Band 5 and most probably this time to it will be in the Rs. 2k – Rs. 2.5K price range.

SonyLIV introduces new shows and increases Subscription Charges by 2 times

Netflix, Amazon Prime Video like another online video streaming platform is SonyLIV that is owned by Sony. Though it is not at the top list, still trying to achieve it. Targeting this goal, it comes up with new content. But, on the other hand, it also increases the subscription charge.

Within the new catalog, two new originals are in the wish-list of the maximum of subscribers. Those are “Your Honor”, a crime thriller with Jimmy Shergill in lead, and “Kadakh”, a dark comedy show having Ranvir Shorey. There are also “For Life” listed and “Bhonsle” on its way to come live.

SonyLIV_TechnoSports.co.in

As I mentioned, with the arrival of new contents the subscription charge is also hiked up and it is for every plan. The monthly plan which was of ₹99 has been increased to ₹299. The six-month plan is updated to ₹699 and for a yearly subscription, and now you have to pay ₹999 instead of ₹499.

In comparison with Netflix’s Mobile pack, it is equal to SonyLIV’s current plan rate. But, form a subscriber’s point of view, SonyLIV still is not the first choice in the case of web series and original movies. Though for streaming Ten Sports, WWE, UFC, and the UEFA Champions Trophy online, you have to come to SonyLIV.

AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT spotted running at 4.6 GHz in 3DMark

0

Recently, AMD launched the Ryzen 3000XT processors globally with an availability date of 7th July. These are Matisse refreshed CPUs with some minor improvements over last-gen, enough to challenge the new 10th Gen Intel Comet Lake-S desktop CPUs, the best part being these CPUs are priced of the same price as its predecessors.

The new AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT is a 6 core, 12 threaded CPU with 3.8 GHz base and 4.5 GHz boost clock speeds with 35 MB cache that is priced at $249 and consumes 95 Watt TDP. Not a huge improvement on paper when compared to the 3600X but it seems the new Matisse refresh CPU is enough to challenge the much-hyped Intel Core i5-10600K.

Thanks again to the reliable tipster @_rogame who has dug this new CPU running at 4.6 GHz in 3DMark being paired on an MSI B550M Mortar motherboard and coupled with 16 GB G.SKILL DDR4 RAM clocked at 3,600 MHz. For storage, 250 GB Samsung 960 EVO SSD is used running on Windows 10.

The AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT’s closest competitor is the Intel Core i5-10600K with 6 cores, 12 threads, 4.1 GHz base clock speed along with 4.5 GHz all-core turbo and 4.8 GHz max single-core frequency. It has a higher TDP of 125 W and should retail at $262. So, obviously, its higher clock speeds will have an advantage over AMD and for that high single-core speed you have to keep your CPU cool but, undoubtedly, will help for gaming.

AMD launches the new Ryzen 3000XT processors alongside new A520 chipset

The main thing to notice will be how much the Ryzen 5 3600XT can be pushed with its in-box cooler and when third party cooler, which you do have to buy for the Intel CPU. These new Ryzen 3000 CPUs have a good record when it comes to overclocking so, it can be a tight game between the two honestly.

Also, Intel’s inflated price of the Core i5-10600K might help AMD if the Ryzen 5 3600XT is available at its MSRP of $249, well, until global availability the fight between these two CPUs will be an interesting thing to watch for. We will keep you posted with more leaks and benchmarks, as always.

The cold war between Serie A and beIN Sports

0

beIn Sports has the exclusive broadcasting rights of Serie A in 35 territories which includes France, Australia and the Middle East and North African (Mena) region as part of a three-year deal worth $500 million. The deal is valid up to the 2020-21 season.

Serie A has also signed an $8.3 million contract to host three Supercoppa Italiana cup final matches in Saudi Arabia, despite the country’s links to the pirate broadcaster BeoutQ.

The deal which was signed by Serie A in June 2018, promised to take three out of the next five Supercoppa Italiana finals to Saudi Arabia. The first of those was Juventus’ 1-0 victory over AC Milan in January 2019, at the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.

Strangely, beIN Sports opted not to broadcast Torino and Parma’s 1-1 draw during the restart of the 2019/20 Serie A season.

seriea The cold war between Serie A and beIN Sports

According to a report by InsideSport, beIN Sports blacked out Serie A in 35 territories in an apparent protest against the Italian top-flight soccer body’s ties with Saudi Arabia.

In November last year, beIN Sports said that Serie A’s leadership was jeopardising its broadcast partnerships and revenues by taking matches to Saudi Arabia. Serie A’s chief executive Luigi De Siervo said at the time that the soccer body ‘could not fail to honour’ its agreement with Saudi Arabia’s General Sports Authority (GSA).

A company statement read: “No Serie A matches are being broadcast on beIN Sports’ entire global network. It would not be appropriate to comment further, other than to say our legal and public position has been consistent and well-documented for three years.”

There has been a cold war going on between Serie A and beIN Sports. But, if you’re from the Indian subcontinent then you won’t face any problem as Sony Sports Network is the exclusive broadcaster here.
