OD: Kojima’s Terrifying Horror Experience
The horror game published by Xbox Game Studios received a brand new trailer featuring Sophia Lillis, who we’ve long known will play one of the characters alongside Udo Kier and Hunter Schafer. The trailer for OD, subtitled Knock, has been getting the most attention from the 2-hour stream. The clip was created using in-engine footage from the Unreal 5.
This Xbox exclusive promises to deliver Kojima’s unique take on psychological horror, building on his legendary P.T. legacy with cutting-edge Unreal Engine 5 visuals and an all-star cast.
Death Stranding Mosquito: Anime Expansion
The first teaser trailer for the anime spinoff movie Death Stranding Mosquito is as weird and haunting as you’d expect. The project hails from Aaron Guzikowski, the writer of Denis Villeneuve’s “Prisoners” and the HBO Max series “Raised by Wolves”. Death Stranding Mosquito will be an original story.
This animated feature expands the Death Stranding universe with fresh storytelling, bringing Kojima’s post-apocalyptic world to anime format under the direction of renowned writer Aaron Guzikowski.
PHYSINT: The Spiritual Metal Gear Successor
While details remain limited, Hideo Kojima announced the new action spy game “Physint” developed in cooperation with PlayStation Studios. This action-espionage title represents Kojima’s return to the stealth genre that made him famous, though it’s an entirely new IP separate from Metal Gear.
Why This Showcase Matters
In December 2015, Hideo Kojima began his own company with Yoji Shinakawa and Kenichiro Imaizumi, aptly named Kojima Productions. This year is their 10th year and, in celebration, Kojima decided to host an event.
The showcase demonstrates Kojima Productions’ evolution from a startup to a multimedia powerhouse, expanding beyond games into films and animation while maintaining their signature innovative storytelling.
With OD pushing horror boundaries on Xbox, Death Stranding expanding into anime, and PHYSINT bringing espionage action to PlayStation, Kojima Productions is building a diverse entertainment ecosystem that spans platforms and media formats.
The Tokyo Game Show 2025 continues through September 28th, but Kojima’s “Beyond The Strand” event already stands as one of the show’s biggest highlights.
