Top 10 players Barcelona regret selling

0

FC Barcelona are one of the most iconic clubs in world football. Club captain, Lionel Messi has been the centre of attraction in the last few years.

The Catalans had many great players over the years with the likes of Cruyff, Ronaldinho, Puyol, Xavi, Iniesta among many others to have worn the Blaugrana shirt. But there are some players as well who made it big after Barcelona sold them or wanted a transfer away from Camp Nou. Barcelona definitely regret selling those players.

Here’s a list of the top 10 players Barcelona regret selling:

laudrup Top 10 players Barcelona regret selling

10. Michael Laudrup

The Danish international joined Barcelona in the 1989-90 season and played 5 seasons for them before joining their arch-rivals Real Madrid. Laudrup said about his time at the Camp Nou: “I think we played some very good football, and I think most of all we demonstrated that even without getting the ten best players in the world, you can have the best team. Because everybody talked about Begiristain, Bakero, Guardiola, Stoichkov, and Koeman, but when we started none of us was a best player, then we became maybe the best team in the world, together with AC Milan in that period.”

In 1994, Laudrup left Barcelona after a reported fight with Johan Cruyff. Laudrup went on to win the LaLiga with Real Madrid that ended the Barcelona’s stranglehold. He is the only player ever to win the Spanish league five times in a row playing for two different clubs.

Laudrup said about his move to Real Madrid: “People say I wanted to go to Real Madrid just to get revenge. I say revenge from what? I’ve had a perfect time; five fantastic years here [at Barcelona]. I went to Madrid because they were so hungry to win, and they had four or five players who went to the World Cup. I said this would be perfect; new coach, new players, and hungry to win.”

luis suarez Top 10 players Barcelona regret selling

9. Luis Suarez Miramontes

Luis Suarez played for Barcelona since the 1954-1955 season. He formed a deadly duo with Hungarian trio Ladislao Kubala, who is the club’s fourth-highest goalscorer. Luis Suarez has recently surpassed him to be the third-highest goalscorer in Barcelona’s history.

Read: Luis Suarez becomes the third-highest goalscorer in Barcelona history

Suarez was so good during his time at Barcelona that he won back-to-back LaLiga titles and was voted as the Ballon d’Or winner in 1960, beating Real Madrid’s Ferenc Puskas. But in 1961, Barcelona sold him to Inter Milan for £142,000, which made him the world’s most expensive footballer and the first £100,000 transfer.

The Spanish international was even more successful at Inter. He won three Serie A titles, two consecutive Champions League and two Intercontinental Cups.

luis figo Top 10 players Barcelona regret selling

8. Luis Figo

The Portuguese international formed a formidable attack at Barcelona along with Rivaldo and Patrick Kluivert. His career graph was beginning to rise. But surprisingly, in July 2000, Figo made a controversial €62 million move to Barcelona’s bitter rivals Real Madrid.

Real Madrid gave out his release clause to bring him to the Santiago Bernabeu and started the Galacticos era. Figo won the Ballon d’Or in 2000.

Barcelona couldn’t have done anything as Real Madrid paid out his release clause, but they would have definitely liked if Figo continued to play at the Camp Nou.

maradona 1 Top 10 players Barcelona regret selling

7. Diego Maradona

Regarded by many as the greatest ever player, Barcelona couldn’t handle the Argentine. Maradona was involved in a mass brawl in a Copa del Rey final with Athletic Bilbao in 1984. One Barcelona executive stated: “When I saw those scenes of Maradona fighting and the chaos that followed I realized we couldn’t go any further with him.”

Despite scoring 38 goals in 58 games in two seasons with the club, Maradona was sold to Napoli for a world-records fee of £6.9 million. He won 2 Serie A titles and 1 UEFA Cup with Napoli and became a club legend there.

samuel etoo Top 10 players Barcelona regret selling

6. Samuel Eto’o

Samuel Eto’o won 3 LaLiga titles and 2 Champions League in his 5 seasons at the Camp Nou. He scored goals in each of the two Barcelona’s Champions League final win. He was an instrumental player in the Barcelona squad.

But strangely in 2009, Pep Guardiola wanted an exchange in between Barcelona and Inter Milan. He wanted Zlatan Ibrahimovic to join the club in exchange for Eto’o and €46 million.

Eto’o had a hugely successful first season at Inter winning the Serie A and Champions League, the third of this career. Ibrahimovic never became a success like Eto’o in Barcelona, so Barcelona really regret selling the Cameroon international.

ronaldo 1 Top 10 players Barcelona regret selling

5. Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima

The Brazilian Ronaldo played only one season at Camp Nou. He scored an astonishing 47 goals in 49 games in his first season at Barcelona, but there were disputes over his contract extension and Inter Milan took the opportunity to bring him to Milan.

Inter Milan signed him in the summer of 1997 for a then world-record fee of $27 million. His career graph never went down after that. He had a successful time at Inter which earned him a move to Real Madrid where he was a part of the Galacticos era of global stars signed by the club every summer, which included Zinedine Zidane, Luis Figo, Roberto Carlos and David Beckham. He also won the Ballon d’Or during his time at the Santiago Bernabeu.

alcantara Top 10 players Barcelona regret selling

4. Thiago Alcantara

Alcantara is a product of Barcelona’s famed youth academy, La Masia. Pep Guardiola knew the potential he would reach one day. So when Guardiola left for Bayern Munich in 2013, he wanted Thiago to join him at the Allianz Arena.

Guardiola told: “I spoke to the club [Bayern Munich] and told them about my concept and told them why I want Thiago. He is the only player that I want. It will be him or no one.”

When Pep Guardiola wants a player or nothing, you can definitely guess how good a player he will transform into. Instead of holding onto him, Barcelona sold the Spanish midfielder to Bayern for around €25 million. He has won his seventh consecutive Bundesliga title this season with Bayern. The 29-year-old is wanted by all the top European clubs.

traore 1 Top 10 players Barcelona regret selling

3. Adama Traore

Traore is also a graduate of La Masia. In 2013, Traore played his first LaLiga game at the age of only 17, replacing Neymar late on in the 4–0 home win over Granada CF. He made his first appearance in the UEFA Champions League on 26th November, coming on for Cesc Fabregas in the 82nd minute of a 1–2 defeat away to AFC Ajax in the group stage. He scored his first goal for the Blaugrana’s main squad on 16th December 2014, playing 16 minutes and contributing to an 8–1 home demolition of SD Huesca in the Copa del Rey.

Barcelona thought he doesn’t have the potential to make it big and sold him to Premier League club Aston Villa in 2015. He now plays for Wolverhampton Wanderers and on his day, the Spanish winger is almost unstoppable. He has blistering pace and great physical which gives him a massive advantage as a winger.

The Catalan club doesn’t have a proper winger now, so if they hadn’t sell Traore back in 2015, he would have definitely helped this Barcelona side.

arthur 1 Top 10 players Barcelona regret selling

2. Arthur Melo

Barcelona has swapped the 23-year-old Brazilian midfielder for Juventus’s 30-year-old Miralem Pjanic and €10 m. The deal has been agreed and the players will be exchanged at the end of this season.

Pjanic may become a hit at Barcelona but considering their ages, letting Arthur go, who has so many years left in his career is definitely going to make Barcelona regret at some point of time.

Read: Arthur-Pjanic swap deal confirmed by both Barcelona and Juventus

Messi Suarez Neymar1 Top 10 players Barcelona regret selling

1. Neymar

Barcelona signed Neymar from Santos in 2013. The young Brazilian quickly adapted to life at the Camp Nou. The attacking trio of Messi-Suarez-Neymar was considered the best during those days. They conquered Spain as well as Europe.

In 2017, Neymar decided to move to Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain for a record transfer fee of €222 million. But since leaving Barcelona, Neymar has publicly regretted his move.

As Messi is entering the dawn of his career, Barcelona also wanted somebody to carry on the mantle and who could probably be better than Neymar for that role! In every transfer window, there’s a rumour of Neymar returning to the Camp Nou.

All you need to know about the Ubisoft Forward 2020 event

0

Yesterday, Ubisoft hosted its launch event in the form of Ubisoft Forward 2020 online as there will not be any E3 due to the pandemic. There were a lot of announcements but the main features were the three games: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Far Cry 6 and Watch Dogs Legion.

So here are all the announcements made:

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

Obviously, this game is getting all the hype and why shouldn’t be as it’s the continuation to one of the most popular game series in history. It was shortly revealed at the Xbox Series X game reveal and its trailer was shown by AMD as it will bundle the game with select Ryzen 3000 and 3000XT CPUs.

The 30-minute gameplay revealed a lot about the upcoming Assassin’s Creed game and shows the game’s onset and background, characters and a bit of its story as well. The graphics look great and truly, gamers will enjoy another title of this massive franchise.

Ubisoft has confirmed the fact that the game will be launched on November 17, 2020, for all platforms including Xbox One X, PS4, and PC although for the next-gen consoles it sates ‘Coming Soon’ which is quite strange.

Far Cry 6

Another exciting title is from Ubisoft is obviously the Far Cry 6 which is the continuation to its another very popular gaming series. Most of the Far Cry series games have been known for its good storyline, gameplay and obviously the graphics.

Far Cry 6 is set on a fictional Caribbean island-inspired by Cuba, ruled as a dictatorship by “El Presidente” Anton Castillo, voiced and modelled after Giancarlo Esposito, better known for his role as Gus Fring from Breaking Bad. He is raising his son Diego, voiced by Anthony Gonzalez, to follow in his rule.

Far Cry 6 will be made available by Ubisoft from February 18, 2021, for all platforms including Xbox Series XPlayStation 5, Xbox One X, PlayStation 4, PC, and the online gaming platform Google Stadia.

Watch Dogs Legion

I personally have been a fan of this series because of its uniqueness and the game itself, so Ubisoft will be launching its next instalment Watch Dogs Legion as early as October 29, 2020.

The gameplay overview trailer shows the intense background of London and the game’s story focuses on the efforts of the London branch of hacker group DedSec in combating a dystopian surveillance state that has taken control of the United Kingdom. The storyline is again very unique with lots of characters, surprisingly, you can even play as NPCs in the game and it undoubtedly has an enthralling graphics.

The next game from the Watch Dogs franchise will make its way to all current platforms including Xbox One X, PlayStation 4, and PC butas for now, the game for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 is ‘coming soon’.

Hyper Scape

This is Ubisoft’s new Battle Royal game, rules are quite similar to the ones in the market, where there will be another 99 players you need to compete with and a team can be formed with a maximum of three members.

After landing to the battleground, you have to look for the weapons, medical kits, and all to eliminate enemies until you or your team become the last one standing there. You can check out all the details of the game from here.

Lionel Messi becomes the second player in the 21st century to have at least 20 goals and 20 assists in a single league season

0

Lionel Messi has turned into an equally impressive playmaker from an out and out goalscorer, since the departure of Xavi and Iniesta. The little magician has matured over the years and now almost single-handedly carries Barcelona.

Last Saturday, Messi gave an assist for Vidal to score the lone winning goal against Real Valladolid. With that assist, Messi has created history. It was his 20th assist of this season. He has now equalled Xavi’s record of most assist in a single LaLiga season and you can definitely bet Messi is going to break the record in the last two remaining matches of this season.

The Barcelona captain has also made another record with that assist. Messi has 22 goals and 20 assists in this season. He has become the second player after Thierry Henry to have more than 20 goals and 20 assists in a single top-five European league season in the 21st century.

In the 2002-03 season, Thierry Henry scored 24 goals and provided 20 assists for Arsenal in the Premier League.

Vivo’s iQOO shows the world’s first 120W Ultra-Fast charging technology

0

The charging speeds on smartphones are decreasing day by day with the invention of newer and faster-charging techniques. When OPPO teased its 125W Super Flash Charge to be announced on July 15th, out of nowhere, Vivo’s sub-brand iQOO went on to showcase its 120W Ultra-Fast charging technology today, making them the world’s first company to do so.

Vivo's iQOO shows the world's first 120W Ultra-Fast charging technology

This shows how these smartphone brands are running in a race to attract more consumers, however, according to the company, their new tech can charge a 4,000mAh battery smartphone in just 15 minutes. The 120W Ultra-Fast rapid charging technology promises to charge a 4,000mAh battery up to 50% in 5 minutes only.

As iQOO is a smartphone gaming brand from Vivo it brings premium features and faster-charging techniques like 33W, 44W, and 55W, now with 120W there’s no exception to Vivo’s ambitious efforts to promote its gaming brand.

Vivo's iQOO shows the world's first 120W Ultra-Fast charging technology

Unlike its demo at the Mobile World Congress Shanghai 2019, this marks the commercial announcement of the new tech which is yet to be mass-produced. iQOO’s Product Manager went on to demonstrate their new tech which they achieved by converting a 4000mAh battery phone into dual battery system which features an industry-first 6C cell battery, each one of them measuring 2,000mAh capacity.

Both of these batteries can be charged simultaneously at 5V/12A i.e. 60W by means of a customized chip that helps to achieve a total charging speed of 120W with 97% charging conversion rate. To safe guard this, the charging adapter will eventually be equipped with array type pole structure cell impedance.

Vivo's iQOO shows the world's first 120W Ultra-Fast charging technology

Also, the phone which will support the tech will feature super VC liquid cooling technology that helps to regulate the internal temperature of the device. However, you do not have to wait much to use the feature hands-on as Vivo plans to launch a compatible iQOO phone next month itself.

Digital Chat Station also says that the tech will help to charge up to 80% battery capacity in just 10 minutes. This could be a Snapdragon 865+ powered new gaming phone that will be able to use the tech flawlessly and give a flagship-level performance with 5G support, some say it could be the iQOO Pro 3 5G, however, with days these claims can be justified.

OPPO will be announcing its 125W Super Flash Charge on July 15th

0

It seems the Chinese smartphone giants are on the forefront to announce their new insane charging solutions to bring the attention of the buyers. When OPPO’s sub-brand Realme is teasing their own 120W Ultra Dart charger, its parent company will be the first to announce the 125W Super Flash Charge as early as July 15th in China.

Already OPPO holds the record of bringing in the fastest charging techniques in the form of SuperVOOC 2.0 rapid technology with 65W charging support that can charge the Oppo Reno Ace and other compatible Oppo device with 4,000mAh battery in just 30 minutes. Well, now, thanks to the tipster Ishan Agarwal who claims that the Realme’s 120W Ultra Dart charger can charge your 4,000mAh battery in just 3 minutes.

Just 3 minutes is pretty insane but still not confirmed so to be safe, you can still expect it to charge the device within 10 minutes. So, how much speed can you expect from OPPO? As both of the brands are interlinked, with the upcoming 125W Super Flash Charge you also expect around 5-10 minutes of charging will be enough to charge a 4,000mAh battery.

OPPO has only released a video while the Chinese smartphone maker has not revealed any details of its fast-charging solution but it does seem to announce its new tech on July 15. You could expect to be a formal announcement that would make them the first company to announce this tech, a great marketing scheme honestly.

After that, you could expect mass production for commercial use and then an actual smartphone at the end of Q3 or at the starting of Q4 2020. There remains a possibility that OPPO might be announcing a new Reno Ace series in October when it previously announced its Ace series with 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 technology, that could actually show the world its insane 125W Super Flash Charge in action.
