Unacademy replaces Future Group as IPL 2020 official sponsor

After getting Dream 11 as the title sponsor of IPL 2020, there is another good news from the officials that an Ed-tech company from India will be the official sponsor of this year’s IPL. The company is Unacademy which is a very reputed and renowned company nowadays.

Future Group has been financially hit by the Coronavirus pandemic so they have pulled out of IPL. So now, Unacademy has signed for three years as IPL central sponsor and will give a huge range of Rs 120-130 crores for the period of sponsorship.

The official announcement in this regard will be made soon. “The deal with Unacademy is completed for 3 years. We will make the official announcement soon”, confirmed the BCCI.

BCCI announced to vacant slots for the central sponsors. Now, one is occupied by the Unacademy, BCCI is in talks with the Credit Card payment company CRED for the second slot. But there is no official approval for CRED, as the process is still running. In the case of other sponsors PayTM is the IPL’s Umpire partner and also BCCI’s title sponsor for those Bilateral cricket series and domestic cricket in India. CEAT is the Strategic Timeout Partner of IPL.

BCCI’s revenues from IPL central sponsorships have gone down by 40% at this stage

If we take the list 2019 IPL sponsorships, Title Sponsor – VIVO (Rs 440 crores), Official Partners – Tata Motors, FBB & Dream11 (Rs 120 crores), Umpire Partner – PayTm (Rs 28 crores), Strategic Timeout Partner – CEAT (Rs 30 crores). On a whole, BCCI made Rs 618 crores from IPL 2019 Central Sponsorships.

In comparison with 2019, IPL 2020 Central Sponsorship values are currently down by 40%. Title Sponsorship values are also dropped by 50%. Title Sponsor – Dream11 (Rs 222 crores), Official Partners – Tata Motors, Unacademy (Rs 80 crores), Umpire Partner – PayTm (Rs 28 crores), Strategic Timeout Partner – CEAT (Rs 30 crores). This time, the total revenue is Rs 360 crores at this stage. To manage this, BCCI may add one more partner to the IPL 2020.

BCCI is pretty much confident that they will get over the current situation and IPL 2020 will also be as electrifying as the previous seasons.

Barcelona sell another youth academy player, Anwar Mediero to Atalanta

Club chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak says Manchester City have no grudge over UEFA

UEFA found Manchester City guilty of breaching Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules, earlier in February. They were accused of over-inflating sponsorship deals to disguise funds which were pumped into the club by owner Sheikh Mansour.

Manchester City were banned from all European competitions including the UEFA Champions League for the next two seasons and was also fined €30 million. But, City had always stated that they were not guilty of breaching the FFP rules. They appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) against the ban imposed by UEFA.

CAS gave the verdict in favour of Manchester City. The European competitions ban had been lifted and the penalty of €30 million had been reduced to €10 million. City finished second in the Premier League table, which means they will be allowed to take part in the Champions League next season.

Manchester City beat Real Madrid in the round of 16 but were knocked out by Lyon in the Champions League quarter-finals. They are determined to try again next season and succeed in the Champions League.

Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said that City did not carry a grudge and would rather focus on trying to win the Champions League.

Khaldoon told mcfc.co.uk: “Life is too short to carry grudges. It is an important competition. It is one of the most prestigious competitions in the world of sports and it is a competition we want to win, and we have to respect in order to win.”

“This was a challenge, it’s behind us, end of story. I am focused on one thing – how I can help this club compete in this competition and win it and how to have a constructive relationship with UEFA, I think it’s the only way to go.”

UEFA president Alexander Ceferin revealed in an interview that he was not happy with CAS’ decision. He said: “Nobody wants to lose a case. We were not happy with the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport. But we have to respect the decision of the body that we agreed is the last instance in our decision-making process.”

“It (FFP) is not dead and again, Financial Fair Play was successful in this case, here were some procedural things, obviously that were decisive.”

When Ceferin was asked about appealing to the Swiss federal court, he replied: “I don’t want to enter that.”

UEFA could potentially appeal the CAS ruling at the Swiss Federal Tribunal. But according to sports lawyer Daniel Geey, it is extremely unlikely that the decision would be overturned, so it’s a big victory for Manchester City.

New addition to IPL 2020: LED walls will connect fans to the players

This is the 13th season of IPL and everyone had the confusion that what is going to be the decision from BCCI. Finally, BCCI has officially announced the date and venue of IPL 2020, which are 19th September and UAE respectively. But, for the COVID-19 situation, everyone is in a dilemma whether real spectators are allowed or not inside the stadium.

There are mixed statements from officials about this matter. But, most of them do not want to take the risk of getting real spectators inside the stadium as the risk of spreading the Coronavirus is quite high.

That is why right now it is almost officially confirmed that IPL 2020 will not allow real spectators inside the stadiums in UAE. They would rather use LED walls, which will connect fans to the players. It is not the first time, this kind of technology is used. Before the IPL, there were many leagues in different countries which have already used LED spectators in the stadium due to COVID-19. English Premier League, Danish League are some examples of the leagues which used this technology.

KKR CEO, Venky Mysore said to Gulf News: “I have been working very closely with the broadcasters, Star Sports, and I can tell you there are some unique ways of fan connect that have been planned. For example, one plan is to have a LED wall with fans represented there live via technology. So fans can see the players and more importantly, the player too can see the fans real-time and make eye-contact with them.”, .

According to the information available, Star Sports and BCCI are planning to connect the fans through LED walls mounted in the stadiums. Kolkata Knight Riders CEO Venky Mysore has spilt the beans on how fans via technology will be able to log in real-time and make eye contact with their favourite players.

Let’s see how this technology will work. For example, if a batsman achieves the milestone of 50 or 100 or more, he can raise his bat to the audience as before, and those LED walls will also cheer that batsman for his achievement. In the case of bowler, when he will make his way to run-up, spectators will clap for him and cheer him making eye contact to the particular bowler.

KKR CEO further added: “When a player walks back to the boundary from his bowling run-up, he can actually see fans wave at him and can wave back. Imagine what this will mean for both the players and fans. There are many such plans in place and trust me, fans will not feel left out. And I will urge each one of them to support us like they do and during pujas stay at home and watch us play”.

If this technology is implemented, some lucky fans from each team can be live in the stadium on the giant screen from his home and can support his team. English Leagues, Danish Premier League has already used this live fan wall technology and those were highly successful as well as appreciated by the audience.

Though there is no official information about live fan wall technology till now from BCCI. But, there will surely be some new innovations in IPL 2020. A few weeks back Disney Star India Chairman Uday Shankar in an interview dropped a hint that they are working on various modules to connect the fans to the stadiums, capturing their reactions and actions during the live IPL games. There must be no disappointment with spectators.

Shankar said in an interview: “So, you can be at home but you can also be on television. Our ability to recreate the same atmosphere for the fan who are watching it from home is limited only by our imagination, otherwise the fan gives you enough opportunity to capture those moments of intensity and excitement. Everyone has a camera phone, I just need to source them. So, we’ll be thinking differently”.

BCCI and Star India are working together to find a solution to connect the fans with the players. The fans won’t feel disconnected even if the tournament is being held in UAE.

Lenovo Legion 7i gaming laptop with 10th Gen Intel CPUs & NVIDIA GPUs launched in India

The OEM has a good reputation when it comes to keyboard and has taken this even further as the Legion 7i features the Legion TrueStrike keyboard with 1.3mm key travel and has dedicated media keys, number pad, larger arrow keys, and one-piece trackpad. You can configure the lights of the keys individually brought with over 16 million different colors via Corsair iCUE support.

The Legion 7i features all-day battery life via a whopping 80Whr battery crammed into the slim gaming laptop and can be charged via a sleek and slim power adapter that charges the laptop from 0-50% in under 30 minutes with Rapid Charge Pro. Lenovo also states that with Hybrid Mode and Advanced Optimus Technology, you can switch between the laptop’s discrete graphics or use the iGPU to save power for better battery life.

The laptop has an all-metal design with a laser-engraved logo illuminated RGB Legion iconic “Y” all in elegant Slate Gray color variant. There are a lot of RGB lights across the laptop – the Corsair iCUE environmental lighting array that can be customized as per your requirements. On the audio front, you get 2 x 2W Dolby Atmos Speaker System for Gaming with Chamber and a 720P HD webcam as well.

As Lenovo says, you can enjoy the battle-ready performance, immersive experiences, and seamless gameplay with Lenovo Vantage for Gaming software. You can choose performance mode for apps and games to calibrate automatically. Overclock CPUs and GPUs and use memory release to push frame rates to the limit. Downshift to Quiet Mode to save battery life or choose Balance Mode for normal use.

On the right-hand side of the laptop, you get a USB 3.1 Gen 1 port, and on the left side, you have Thunderbolt 3 Type-C (Thunderbolt, DisplayPort, USB 3.1, HDMI), USB-C (DisplayPort 1.4, USB 3.1 Gen 1) and a Headphone/mic combo. On the rear end of the laptop, you get 2 x USB 3.1 Gen 2, 1 x HDMI 2.0, 1 x RJ45 Ethernet, 1 x Kensington lock slot, and a Power-in port.
