Andrea Pirlo confirms Gonzalo Higuain’s exit from Juventus with Wolves showing interest

Juventus boss Andrea Pirlo has confirmed that Gonzalo Higuain will leave Juventus this summer.

Andrea Pirlo became Juventus manager replacing Maurizio Sarri after their defeat in the Champions League quarter-final against Lyon. Pirlo has decided to release some of the players from his project. Blaise Matuidi has already left the club for MLS side Inter Miami.

In a press interview Pirlo said: “We’ve decided together with Gonzalo Higuaín that he will leave the club this summer.”

“He’s out of the project and we’re ready to let him go. Gonzalo has given so much but the story must close.”.

Gonzalo Higuain joined Juventus in 2016 after a fantastic spell with Napoli. But it didn’t work so well for him. In his four seasons at Turin, he was sent on loan to Chelsea and AC Milan.

Higuain made 149 appearances for Juventus and has scored 66 goals. Last season under Maurizio Sarri he has scored only 11 goals in his 43 games. It is quite natural that he is not in the plan of Juventus’s new manager.

Juventus has not received any bid for the Argentine striker till now. According to some sources, he can go to MLS or to China. But Higuain believes that he still has plenty to offer to European football.

Some sources say that Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers can be a possible destination for him. His experience will be a good addition to the Wolves squad. It will be cleared in the next few days.

Apple is planning to withdraw iOS support for Epic’s Unreal Engine

0

You may know, a few days ago, Epic Game‘s Fortnite was expelled from both the top application stores i.e. Google Play Store on Android and App Store on iOS. That because Epic launched an update to bypass the app store owners during all the in-app purchases.

Epic was mainly trying to challenge the monopoly of Apple and Google and to do that the game maker needs to go to the court, it actually did it too. But Apple’s gameplay is a step ahead of Epic. It is claimed that Apple has threatened to withdraw the support for the Unreal Engine from iOS. To avoid that, Epic only has to obey Apple’s app store policy.

If you don’t know, Unreal Engine of Epic Games is a free-to-start game engine, and plenty of game developers use this to build their projects for various platforms. If Apple proceeds further as per its plan and revokes the support, developers can’t patch the security flaws or fix bugs.

Is Fortnite still playable on iOS and Android?

No doubt, if the situation goes wrong, the game and the developers on iOS and macOS will be hampered. The developers will struggle to develop new iOS games. The entire thing can go very much negative for Unreal as its popularity also comes from other platforms and the customers can switch to other solutions.

Apple gave Epic time till 28th August to “cure breaches to the agreement”. Epic reacts to it by filing a motion or an injunction against Apple. The game maker also said in its opinion Apple shifted its aim from Fortnite to Epic’s entire business.

The next steps of both the companies will be decided after the Court’s judgment.

Manchester United’s failed transfers under Louis Van Gaal

0

Louis Van Gaal took over Manchester United in 2014 following the dismissal of David Moyes. United was in a transition period and it was just a year after Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.

The Dutchman rolled off an eye-watering shopping list of the world’s biggest stars in the Season Preview issue of FourFourTwo magazine, which will be released on Wednesday, August 26.

Van Gaal told: “I wanted Robert Lewandowski, but when this proved difficult I tried to get Gonzalo Higuain instead. Before I had arrived, I also spoke with the board about Neymar. If you are at United, you have to think big – he was also interesting for the club in terms of selling shirts, and I wanted to have quick wingers.”

“For that reason, I also tried to get Sadio Mane and Riyad Mahrez. Thomas Muller was on my wish list, too, and in central midfield, I wanted N’Golo Kante. I even tried to sign James Milner, who was already quite old but very multifunctional and possessed leadership skills.”

“For the defence, I wanted Sergio Ramos and Mats Hummels, because ours wasn’t the strongest in building from the back. Those were my top targets, but we couldn’t get any of them. I don’t know why, because as the manager I wasn’t involved in any negotiations.”

“After I left, players like Mahrez and Kante ended up at Manchester City and Chelsea, while United couldn’t get them. I found that very odd.”

Van Gall further revealed that when he was in talks with United officials in Belgium about his job, he made his visions and intentions clear. United promised him a squad overhaul but it didn’t quite meet his expectations as they brought in Radamel Falcao and Angel Di Maria ignoring Val Gaal’s transfer wishlist.

Van Gaal explained: “I met with them in Brussels – clubs often organise talks in foreign cities so the media can’t track them down easily. The Glazers and Ed Woodward were there – they asked me about everything, including my vision and how I would want to organise things, and said they would meet my needs for new players.”

“I inherited an old team that hadn’t been refreshed for some time and wanted to rejuvenate the squad with players who would bring the same kind of quality. But to get the ones I wanted proved very difficult.”

“It surprised me, even though I understand that clubs hold out for the highest fee because they know United are the richest in the world. At the same time, though, if you are the richest, you’d expect to get what you want.”

“But it didn’t happen: we only got third-, fourth- or fifth-choice players.”

It seems the current dip in form of Manchester United after the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson is solely due to their board and their transfer policies and failed transfers.

AC Milan in talks with Real Madrid for Brahim Diaz

Real Madrid signed Brahim Diaz from Manchester City last season for a fee that could end up totalling €24m. The youngster didn’t get many minutes at the Bernabeu but Madrid has high hopes on the Spanish midfielder.

The LaLiga side often prefers to send their players on loan to get game time and they like to keep them in LaLiga so that they could gradually adjust to the Spanish top-flight league.

Martin Odegard was on loan at Real Sociedad while Kubo has been loaned out to Villareal for the upcoming season. Real Madrid has offers for Diaz from Getafe, Real Betis and Granada for a one-year loan deal.

Italian side AC Milan has made Brahim Diaz their top transfer target. Stefano Pioli’s side will be looking to qualify for the Europa League in the coming weeks so they want to strengthen their attacking options.

AC Milan wanted to buy the 21-year-old but Real Madrid won’t sell him without a buy-back clause and unless someone made a huge bid which is not a feasible option for Milan. So now they want to sign him on a loan deal with a buy option.

Although Real Madrid are reluctant not to include a buy option, Milan want to use their good relationship with Real Madrid (after their deal on Theo Hernandez) to influence this deal. They are also interested in Luka Jovic and Oscar Rodriguez.

Paolo Maldini is expected to meet with the Madrid senior officials in the first week of September to discuss the deals.

Xiaomi becomes the top smartphone brand in India for 3 years now

It seems that there’s no end to the Chinese smartphone giant’s supremacy in India, entering the smartphone market in 2014 and after that, the brand has not looked back since then.

Xiaomi has consistently topped the charts for 12 straight quarters and amidst this anti-China movement, the Chinese smartphone brand has also sold the most number of smartphones for Q2 2020.

It has beaten Samsung in sales with its aggressive pricing and great specs. As the market is heavily dependent online, Xiaomi has taken a huge benefit from its online sales, is the number 1 online smartphone brand for 15 quarters now.

For the last two years, it has heavily expanded offline as well and has given the heavy fight to Samsung with its entry-level smartphones for masses. In spite of all the issues with MIUI or privacy concerns, people are keen on buying Xiaomi products, just because people cannot find a good alternative.

Other smartphone brands cannot just keep up with Xiaomi’s pricing strategy and specs, the only exception being Realme. Samsung is trying a lot to recover and it has done a good job with the M series, however, it has to get a good grab over the sub Rs.10k and Rs.10k – Rs.15k price segment.

Xiaomi becomes the top smartphone brand in India for 3 years now

As we see in Manu Jain’s tweet, Xiaomi’s best-selling smartphones were their Redmi smartphones. Out of the top 5 best selling smartphones in India, 4 were from Redmi:

  • Redmi 8A Dual
  • Redmi Note 8
  • Redmi Note 9 Pro
  • Redmi 8

All of these were entry-level and budget smartphones and all of them give great specs at the prices which they come at. Also, as the COVID-19 situation has arrived, online sales have sprung, so most online models are selling hotcakes, making these Redmi smartphones best sellers on both Amazon & Flipkart.
