Zidane is ready to use James and Bale to take Real Madrid back to the top

Zidane seems happy to have James and Bale in his squad and is ready to take Real Madrid back to the winning ways.

Gareth Bale saw a move to Chinese club Jiangsu Suning collapse in July and looks set to stay at the Bernabeu, despite tenuous links to Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain refusing to go away.
Meanwhile, James Rodriguez is another player facing an uncertain future in the Spanish capital, having yet to feature for Madrid since returning from a two-year loan spell with Bayern Munich. Rodriguez has been linked with Napoli and Atletico Madrid but it seems he will also stay in the Bernabeu.

Zidane said at his pre-match news conference on Friday about Bale: “It seemed that he was going, but now he is with us. Things change and now I will be using him as much as the other players in the squad. I’m going to use all the players I’ve got.
He is registered with us and he is a good player. I hope all the players here want to make things difficult for me.”

James and Bale

Zidane also commented on James Rodriguez: “James is fit and we are happy to have him in the squad. I’ll repeat what I said before – I have a big squad and I’ll use all the players. They’re all happy to be here.”

Zidane was reappointed as the head coach of Real Madrid at the end of last season. He left Real Madrid after winning the 3rd Champions League of his reign at Kiev in 2018. After Real Madrid’s disastrous last season he has brought in a number of new players. The arrivals of Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy, Takefuso Kubo and Rodrygo Goes have strengthened the Real Madrid squad.

The transfer window remains open for Spanish clubs until 2nd September and there are continued links with Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba and Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar. But Zidane was in no mood to entertain speculation regarding further incoming players.

Zidane

Zidane said: “Neymar is not a Real Madrid player. The important thing is the players that are here.
Paul is a player who plays for Manchester United, you must respect that.
I’m happy with the players I’ve got. I’m just focused on the game tomorrow, nothing else. We are ready and want to play a good game. I’ve got the best players, I’ve always said that. All I’m worried about is what we are going to do tomorrow. We want this to start now. We think about starting La Liga. We’re happy.”

Real Madrid starts their LaLiga campaign against Celta Vigo on Saturday. Zidane said: “There will always be pessimists. Real Madrid will always have these things. Whether there are good results or not, people will always argue about things. We need our fans to be with us, as they always are. We will try to make things exciting for the fans by playing good football. That’s all we can do.
We want to start and here we are. We’ve had our final training session and we want to get this league started. We are very happy to begin and we’re ready. I want to play well and get results. That’s what I’m most worried about. The most important thing for me is what we do on the pitch.
We try to do things well as a team together. If we do that, we will win as a team. I prefer it if we play well because it’s important to do that at Real Madrid.”

Real Madrid

Zidane further added: “We can’t talk about other things we can’t affect. You can talk about other players if you like but I’m going to focus on tomorrow. I am what I am. Sometimes we all have changes of mood when things don’t go right, but I’m not going to waste time. I’m smiling, I’m happy because we love football. We are very lucky to do this. I don’t think about the past, what we have won because football is about what is coming up in the future.
If I had to think coming back was a risk, it would not be an easy thing to do. I don’t think about the criticism, it’s all part of the job. It’s part of life of a coach.
I know where I’m going and what I want from my players, I know what I want on the pitch. We have to be competitive, win matches and win titles. We have to do that throughout the season.”

Three strikers that have excited Tottenham Hotspur fans

0

The club has always been trying to play catch up with those above them when it comes to the transfer market, as Daniel Levy is not a man who will splash the cash without a certain amount of caution.

This does not appear to be changing anytime soon but this summer has seen the club smash their transfer record after agreeing a £55 million deal to bring Tanguy Ndombele in from Lyon. They were also linked to a deal for Juventus striker Paulo Dybala, although couldn’t get the transfer over the line due to the cost of the player’s wages.

He would have been an exciting addition though Spurs do have Harry Kane to lead the line. The London club had several quality forwards to excite the White Hart Lane faithful over the years and Kane has certainly continued that tradition.

With that in mind, we have taken a look back at three other strikers that Tottenham signed throughout the Premier League era that offered the fans huge excitement at the time.

Three strikers that have excited Tottenham Hotspur fans

Teddy Sheringham

Previous club: Nottingham Forest

Transfer fee: £2.1m

Premier League goals for Spurs: 97 (across two spells)

In the inaugural Premier League season, Tottenham signed Nottingham Forest’s young star Teddy Sheringham. The player had made his name at Millwall and was a proven goal scorer. The £2.1 million fees was a lot at the time but it turned out to be a snip. The England legend would go on to smash home nearly 100 top-flight goals in two spells and is widely considered the best striker the club has had in the modern era – through Harry Kane might have something to say about that.

Three strikers that have excited Tottenham Hotspur fans

Jurgen Klinsmann

Previous club: AS Monaco

Transfer fee: £2m

Premier League goals for Spurs: 20

Spurs’ new signing Ndombele comes with a huge reputation from France. The player cost Tottenham £55.5m, breaking their club transfer record. His arrival has given Pochettino a boost and with Spurs at 18/1 to win the title in football betting outright markets. While the fee might be somewhat extraordinary, the arrival of a player from outside the country is the norm in modern football. But the influx of foreign talent was new to the English game in the early to mid-1990s and Jurgen Klinsmann’s arrival from Monaco was a big deal in 1994. The German would score 20 goals in his single season with the club and remains a popular figure to this day.

Three strikers that have excited Tottenham Hotspur fans

Dimitar Berbatov

Previous club: Bayer Leverkusen

Transfer fee: £10.9m

Premier League goals for Spurs: 27

The Bulgarian striker was a big success during his two campaigns at White Hart Lane. After hitting 69 goals for Leverkusen Spurs agreed a fee of £10.9m to bring him to London and his cultured, languid style was a big hit with fans and pundits alike. His move to Manchester United at the start of the 2008-09 campaign soured things but he will still be remembered as one of Tottenham’s most classy strikers in Premier League history.

So there you have it – this summer may have seen Tottenham break a record, but snapping up quality players at crucial moments has been a key feature in the club’s history.

Manchester United have started the Premier League 2019-20 season with a bang

Manchester United produced a clinical performance in their 1st match of the Premier League to beat Chelsea 4-0.

Manchester United beat Chelsea in their 1st home game in the new campaign 4-0, on Sunday. Ole Gunner Solskjaer’s faith in Marcus Rashford has paid dividends in the match. He sold Lukaku to Inter and deployed Rashford in the striker role.

Martial and Rashford

Rashford successfully repaid Solskjaer’s faith in him by scoring 2 goals – one from the spot and the other was a beautifully taken shot from a United counter-attack. Anthony Martial got back his favoured No. 9 shirt for the new campaign and he was on the scoresheet as well. Manchester United debutant, Danil James who came from Swansea City, also scored a goal in his 1st match.

James

But one thing, you shouldn’t let the scoreline fool you. Manchester United didn’t dominate the whole game. Lampard’s side was the better of the two for many phases of the game. In the 1st half Chelsea were the better side. They had hit the post twice in the first half and really should have scored at least one before the break.
Solskjaer’s United was clinical and that was enough to take the opening 3 points.

Kurt Zouma was brought back in the Chelsea starting XI after the unexpected transfer of David Luiz to Arsenal. Zouma was at fault for Chelsea.
It was the French defender who gifted United their first real chance of the game. He gave the ball away to Anthony Martial on the edge of the area but fortunately for him United failed to convert it into a goal. And then again it was his rash, clumsy challenge on Marcus Rashford that gave the home side a penalty against the run of play.

Kovacic and Pogba

Manchester United improved their defence by signing Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. But still, it was clear that Manchester United were missing something in midfield. They are still short in the middle of the park.
Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba struggled to initially impose themselves on the game and looked vastly inferior to Jorgino and Mateo Kovacic.

Passes in opposite half by midfielders:
Kovacic – 33
Jorginho – 31
Pogba and McTominay – 23 combined.

Manchester United missed out on signing a midfielder in the summer and will pay for that lack of transfer activity soon.

Pogba told RMC Sport after the match: “I’m always good when I play football. I do what I love, it’s my job. I will give my best every time I’m on the pitch.
Now, we know that there were words. The future will tell [what will happen]. This point of questioning remains. I am in Manchester. I’m having fun with my team-mates, I always want to win the matches.
I will always give myself thoroughly when I am on the pitch.”

Pogba

United manager Solskjaer said about Pogba after the match: “Paul can do many jobs, the attacking midfield job and today more the link player. And when you’ve [Victor] Lindelof, [Harry] Maguire and David [De Gea] at the back, they can feed the ball, so he’ll get it in good positions. He can do everything a midfielder can.
He was asked to play the sitting role and first half I thought Chelsea pegged us back so he had to do loads of running down the channels, they created a few problems then, but we’re fit, he’s fit. The pass for the third goal was fantastic and the run and pass for the fourth, I just wanted him to go all the way.”

Solskjaer further added: “I’ve always said he’s a top, top lad, he’s such a professional. He loves playing, whether it’s training, a behind-closed-doors match or here at Old Trafford. He grows more when he comes here. He’s a World Cup winner, he’s come so far in his career. he just wants to play. He’s confident and wants the ball. Yeah, he lost it a few times, but get back on the ball and play.”

Zinedine Zidane gives a hint that Neymar can be coming to Madrid

Zinedine Zidane suggests that Neymar to Real Madrid is still a possibility.

Neymar looks almost certain to leave the Parc des Princes before the transfer window closes. He has been heavily linked with a return to his former club Barcelona. But we could also see him move to his former LaLiga rivals Real Madrid.

The Premier League transfer window is closed, so the Brazilian forward is set to dominate the headlines for weeks to come.

Neymar and Zidane

According to some reports, Real Madrid are willing to offer Neymar a net salary of €40million per season and a five-year contract. Real Madrid manager Zidane has also refused to rule out a last-minute move for Neymar.

Zidane told reporters after his side’s 2-2 draw with Roma on Sunday.: “Neymar is not [in our squad] but until 2nd September, anything can happen. We are with the squad that we have and we are only thinking about that.”

James and Bale

Two of Real Madrid players, Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez are also expected to leave the Bernabeu this summer. Zidane commented on the current situation: “Bale and Rodriguez are two players in our squad. They are both registered, but anything can happen [until the end of the transfer window] and I, as a coach of Real Madrid, must count on them.
I count on them 100 percent.”

“James Rodriguez is a Real Madrid player under contract. He has not been summoned [to the squad recently], but this can change. Even before the end of the transfer window, everything can happen.”

Although the new season starts next weekend in Spain, the transfer window will remain open until 2nd September. This will give Real Madrid plenty of time to make further changes to their squad.

AMD officially launches 7nm EPYC Rome CPUs, up to 64 cores & 128 threads

0

Finally, AMD launches the 2nd gen EPYC CPUs based on Zen 2 architecture, up to 64 cores and 128 threads for $6,950

The Red team has already announced its flagship EPYC Rome CPUs a year ago but all we knew about them that they are coming. But finally, they are launched, 1 month later to the launch of very successful Ryzen 3000 processors.

The new EPYC CPUs are based on AMD’s revolutionary Zen 2 platform. We already have seen how capable these server end CPUs are and now AMD has made the CPUs official and their performances as well.

In our present world, most of the data centres and cloud servers are powered by Intel Xeon chips which have very high pricing though being based on the same old 14nm architecture. But Intel has a legacy and their products have certain software advantages that developers have infused in the past years.

AMD officially launches 7nm EPYC Rome CPUs, up to 64 cores & 128 threads

AMD though has not been competitive to Intel in the server market at all. So, in 2017 the Red team brought the first EPYC CPUs coded as Naples based on 14nm Zen microarchitecture. Though AMD could not create huge market attention still at least they stepped into the data centre market.

Then AMD could always create their next EPYC CPUs on Zen+ microarchitecture but they chose a difficult path of directly shifting to Zen 2 microarchitecture based on 7nm process. This has totally changed the thinking of the server market, creating world records with its amazing performance.

Obviously the higher clock speeds, ~15% uplift to instructions per cycle (IPC) throughput, larger cache memory, a fast move to PCIe gen 4.0 has made EPYC CPUs superior to Intel and the pricing of these CPUs has made the market leaders in jeopardy.

The EPYC Rome CPU

The AMD EPYC Rome CPUs

The EPYC Rome CPUs have a unique design, with up to eight 7nm compute die each consisting 8 cores, connected via the Infinity Fabric to a central 14nm I/O die that houses the memory and PCIe controllers.

The Zen 2 architecture will provide up to:

  • 2X the compute power per node,
  • improved execution pipeline,
  • doubled core density, and
  • will use half the energy per operation.

The EPYC server line-up, codenamed as Rome, scales up to 64 cores and 128 threads. Now, this will help AMD’s enterprise customers to equip a single dual-socket motherboard with up to 128 cores and 256 threads. Rome is also the first PCIe 4.0 compatible CPU, that offers double the bandwidth per channel.

AMD's new EPYC Rome processors is set to bring revolution in industry

The EPYC ‘Rome’ server-end processors will be equipped with an eight-channel DDR4 memory controller, which has been housed inside the I/O die which present in the centre. This improved design will help each chiplet to access the memory with equal latency. The multiple cores have support up to 4TB of DDR4 memory per socket.

Being the first processors to support the PCIe 4.0 standard, they have support up to 128 PCIe 4.0 lanes. This makes the EPYC Rome processors an ideal companion for AMD’s Radeon Instinct MI60 and MI50 GPU accelerators that utilize the PCIe 4.0 x16 interface.

AMD officially launches 7nm EPYC Rome CPUs, up to 64 cores & 128 threads

AMD will also continue to provide two-socket servers (2P), and models for single-socket servers (denoted by the single “P” suffix). The EPYC Rome CPUs starts all the way from 8 cores and 16 threads up to an x86-industry-leading 64 cores and 128 threads.

AMD offers more cores and threads in every segment and up to three times more L3 cache at drastically lower pricing.

Another fact also remains that though base clock speeds of these CPUs range from 2.0 GHz to 3.2 GHz as we go up the stack we see a bump in boost clocks ranging from 3.0 GHz to 3.4 GHz.

via AnandTech

AMD’s power-aware boost algorithms surely help to get high multi-core frequencies even on the monstrous 64 core EPYC 7742 that is able to sustain a beastly 3.2 GHz on all cores.

The pricing of these CPUs will surely make Intel jealous as the top-of-the-line EPYC 7742 just cost $6,950 compared to Intel’s Xeon Platinum 8280 giving half the performance at a price of $10k.

AMD officially launches 7nm EPYC Rome CPUs, up to 64 cores & 128 threads

AMD has just made a beautiful price list ranging from $450 to the highest of $7k, which is pretty low considering the performance these CPUs are offering. They have made separate 8, 12/16, 24/32 and 48/64-core segments, for a total of 19 SKUs.

AMD has built Spectre v2 mitigations into the silicon, that reduces the performance impact. AMD has even patched IBRS and IBPB, along with Spectre v4 and Rome SoCs supports various other secure memory encryption features.

Being 40% cheaper than Intel Xeon CPUs and topping the performance charts, AMD looks to take a giant leap in the server market in the coming days.

Xiaomi and Samsung are partnering to launch a 100MP smartphone camera.

Xiaomi announced at its global event in Beijing, China that its next smartphone under the Redmi moniker would feature a 64-megapixel sensor. While that was already in the pipeline, Xiaomi went one step further and added that it would also introduce a smartphone featuring a 100-megapixel sensor, later this year.

Xiaomi has revealed that it will not only use the 64MP sensor in an upcoming Redmi phone but that a future phone will pack a 108MP (oddly billed as 100MP) “ultra-clear” Samsung ISOCELL camera sensor. That’s a 12,032 x 9,024 image, folks. This is the kind of resolution you typically expect from medium format cameras, not the phone in your pocket.

Standard photographs at the highest setting from a sensor with 100 million pixels would likely range around the 20.5-megapixel mark, which is what Sony and Samsung’s sensors of yore had produced already, albeit without pixel binning. The standard JPEG file produced from a sensor ranges around the 16-megapixel mark, which is deemed ideal for present computing standards while accounting for sensor buffer (RAM for cameras), ISP capability, storage size and speed, phone RAM, internet bandwidth and image compression standards. Given that such files can already produce rather brilliant photographs when the intelligent algorithms get the settings correct, your naked eye will likely not see a massive difference with the 100-megapixel photographs.

As Heape had explained, the presence of a zero shutter lag buffer memory means that imaging standards need to be capped at a certain point, and simply increasing the megapixel count really makes no sense. You need to account for frame rates in order to put all of this in a production phone, and unfortunately, even this 100-megapixel sensor would be capped by these engineering limitations
