Leeds United set to sign Brazilian winger Raphinha from Rennes

After 16 years away from the top flight of English football, Marcelo Bielsa’s rebuilt Leeds United are looking like a team hell-bent on retaining a spot in the Premier League. 

With the big signings of Helder Costa, Rodrigo and Diego Llorente from PL’s Wolves and La Liga’s Valencia and Real Sociedad respectively, the Yorkshire club have managed to add some good quality to their already impressive squad. 

The impressive transfer window for Bielsa’s side is looking to gain another upward boost with the now imminent signing of Rennes winger Raphinha for a reported fee of €23 million. 

The Brazilian winger is set to sign a four-year contract with the newly-promoted side, and an announcement is expected before the transfer window closes tomorrow, the 5th of October at 5 PM.

Formerly of Sporting CP, Raphinha joined French side Rennes in September of last year for a fee of €23 million. Rather surprisingly, it seems the club will not be making a significant profit on the player, if at all, as the total amount of the deal is reported to be €23 million with bonuses included. 

Raphinha is predominantly left-footed and has been primarily deployed as a right-winger during his time in France. He has racked up 7 each of goals and assists in 35 appearances for Rennes across all competitions.

Under the Argentinian coach, the winger has the chance of becoming a brilliant talent to potentially take Leeds back to European competitions. 

Marcelo Bielsa’s team have really taken it to the big clubs in the Premier League, giving both Manchester City and Liverpool a run for their money in the early stages of the season. Although they didn’t manage to come away with all three points on either occasion, the team played beautifully and are fully deserving of a place in the Premier League.

Intel recently migrated to the refined 10nm chipsets and introduced its next-gen Tiger Lake processors to the world. The new SoCs from the tech giant is excitingly powerful and packs in plenty of features. But the most exciting of them all is the Intel’s Iris Xe graphics module.

Teased by the Silicon giant as the first integrated GPU to deliver performance that matches many of the discrete GPUs. Many OEMs have already launched their new notebooks sporting the Tiger Lake, and some have even upgraded their already existing notebooks to sport Intel’s latest Silicon.

According to sources, the 3DMark benchmark places the Iris Xe graphics for mobile on par with Nvidia’s GeForce MX350. Intel has already advertised its GPU to be an alternative for the Nvidia’s famous MX series.

But is Intel’s Iris Xe really powerful?

While running actual games, however, NBC found that Nvidia’s GPU still outperforms Intel’s Iris Xe by a margin of 80 percent on some games.

Games that NBC claims to have tested include the following:

  • DOTA 2
  • X-Plane
  • Shadow of the Tomb Raider
  • Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
  • Division 2
  • Borderlands 3
  • Far Cry New Dawn
  • Anno 1800
  • Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order

There could be many reasons for poor performance from Intel. Nvidia is a long-time player in the GPU market. The company has amassed experience over the years which allowed them to develop their graphics drivers to meet the various demands of high-end games.

The most common reason for Intel’s poor performance might be the most obvious one. The TDP pool is shared with CPU which results in the lack of VRAM. Unlike GeForce MX350, which is a discrete GPU, Intel’s Iris Xe being an integrated graphics has to always share resources with the CPU all the time.

Tiger Lake’s performance is, without a doubt, will be extremely satisfying, but the Iris Xe still has a long way to go. Its performance might improve with every driver update, which the intel provides. Considering this is Intel’s first major take on Nvidia’s GPU, soon, Intel might launch an Integrated GPU that actually matches or even crosses discrete GPU’s in performance. As of now, discrete GPU’s are a must to enjoy games with satisfying performance.

BREAKING: Napoli to be handed a 3-0 loss to Juventus

The signs were all there, and it now seems confirmed that Napoli will not be playing their highly anticipated match against Juventus in Turin.

Napoli had been told by ASL, the local health authority, that they will not travel to Turin to face Juventus due to the detection of two positive coronavirus cases in the Napoli squad. 

The consequence of Napoli not showing up at the Juventus Stadium to play the match is a 3-0 win handed to the hosts due to the visitor’s inability to present their squad on the match day. 

The defense lawyers of Napoli have officially asked the Serie A board to postpone the match, but the board have rejected the club’s proposal, claiming that the ASL has no jurisdiction or influence over football in Italy. 

While the decision of the club to not show up due to the two positive cases is understandable, the board’s decision of not postponing the game is a tad bit too harsh for the Partenopei. 

The official statement released by the Serie A board, according to renowned Italian journalist Nicolo Schira is as follows:

“In the past few days, the League Council approved the regulation to be adopted in the event of multiple positivity, which can lead to the postponement of matches only when certain conditions occur which, at the moment, do not apply to the case of Napoli”. 

The coronavirus cases are not new, as the club were willing to play the match on Saturday, but have now pulled out from travelling to the Juventus Stadium to face the reigning Serie A champions. 

With the 3-0 loss set to be given to them when 45 minutes past the scheduled kick-off time have passed at the Juventus Stadium, Napoli are scheduled to face Atalanta in another high-profile clash on the 17th of this month, after the International break.

On a rainy Yorkshire night at Elland Road, former champions Manchester City further dropped 2 points. The match finished 1-1 against Leeds United. The Citizens now lie in 10th place with a goal difference of -1, an unwanted stat record that was last held by manager Mark Hughes in August 2008.

Although the results have not shown promise so far, it is only the initial stages of the league. Even boss Pep Guardiola has refused to criticize his players, despite some glaringly obvious individual errors. But one thing is clear at the moment – that a team intending to fight for the title, simply cannot afford to keep performing and dropping points in this manner.

Where exactly is it going wrong for Manchester City at the moment?

For starters, the squad did not get the opportunity to undergo a full pre-season like usual. The number of friendlies are not just to absorb tactical details, but also build match fitness and technical understanding of the manager’s system ahead of important encounters.

In addition, there is that vulnerability around City that they just cannot finish opportunities when presented. And eventually, concede goals from absolutely avoidable mistakes. The fact that they have now faced 14 shots on target in 3 games, means the defence has not tightened up enough so far. Injuries and COVID isolation to several key players does not help the cause in any way.

What lies ahead for Manchester City?

But, all is not lost just yet. The international break poses a period of self-introspection for Pep Guardiola and a golden opportunity to have a fully fit squad, come matchday against Arsenal on October 17.

The ideas are certainly in the right place, but the execution is currently lacking. Having treated this early phase of games as an auxiliary pre-season, Pep’s men have to go out there and start giving it their all – just like the seasons that have passed. And this remains the only way to reclaim domestic glory from the hands of current champions, Liverpool.

Moise Kean set to join Paris Saint-Germain on loan after being frozen out at Everton

PSG are reportedly closing in on the loan signing of Everton striker Moise Kean. The news from Fabrizio Romano is that the French club will be paying his full wages in his one-season stay.

Kean would likely challenge PSG’s main-striker Mauro Icardi and gain some much-needed game time. He will replace Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, who is reported to be a target signing for Bayern Munich themselves. But more importantly, Kean seems to no longer be in the plans of Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti. 

Brought in with much hype and sensation from Juventus, it has clearly not worked out for Kean at Everton. Having paid a £30 million fee for him, the Toffees have constantly relied on Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison to take up the centre forward duties. Kean had a breakout season with Juventus in 2018/19 when he scored 6 goals in 13 appearances for the club.

Following that, Everton bought him so that they could ease the load on Calvert-Lewin, or perhaps even displace him to become the main No. 9.

But, Kean is still too young to redeem himself at the age of 20 years. At Paris Saint Germain, he will get the opportunities to showcase some of that pace and dribbling skills.

Standing tall at 183 cm, he also offers a different dimension to PSG’s attack. Acting as the target man, he could convert chances with a team that has excellent crossers of the ball such as Florenzi, Sarabia, Bernat and others.

Kean can also play as an inside forward on the left flank. This could mean that Neymar can slot in behind Icardi at CAM, with Kean on the left flank and Mbappe on the right. It is definitely a season of expectations for young Moise Kean, and this is his chance to show that he has still got it in him to perform at the highest level.

“We started the game well, though. On the whole, I think it was a solid performance again. We are feeling confident, creating chances and scoring goals.”

The 23-year-old England international has already scored 9 goals in 6 appearances for Everton this season. The club now sits on top of the Premier League table having won all their opening four matches.

Now coming to the most interesting part of any Pixel smartphone, which is the camera. The Google Pixel 4a features a dual rear camera setup which includes 12MP+8MP sensors. An 8MP front camera is housed in the punch-hole cut on the display.

Regarding the price and availability, Google Pixel 4A 5G will be available first in eight countries (Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Taiwan, United Kingdom, United States) in November. In contrast, it will launch in Japan on October 15th at a price tag of $499.

While one might be happy to see finally see the actual physical images of the console. The images have raised severe questions regarding the cooling system sported by the console.

The images surfaced online seem to reveal a “naked” PlayStation 5 console inside. The photos were taken on one of the white side panels of the console. It is believed by many that there is an undiscovered PS5 hidden in the background.

The other components leaked in the images include a white strip above the fan. This is probably for the NVMe SSD, and the metal plate on the left side of the device is perhaps for the Blu-ray PS5 drive.

But the images are claimed to be ‘forged’ by many on social media.

Whether the images are forged or real, whether the PS5 really has a disappointing cooling system? All the many questions will be answered once Sony finally moves forward with its upcoming PS5 teardown. Till then be tuned.
