Acer announces its latest Swift 3 and Swift 5 laptops with 11th Gen Intel Tiger Lake CPUs

0

The new Acer Swift series is one of the first laptops to be verified under Intel’s new Evo platform. All laptops verified under the Evo platform are said to be equipped with boundary-breaking 11th Gen Intel® Core™ i5 or i7 mobile processors along with Intel® Iris® Xe graphics.

For any systems to be verified under the Evo platform they must meet the minimum requirements. They are supposed to deliver a whooping of nine or more hours of battery life, host Thunderbolt 4, wifi 6, fast charging, and must have wake time of less than a second. The Evo platform laptops are designed to deliver remarkable battery life and performance while being thin and light and easy to move.

Till now, Acer has only verified Swift 5 under the Evo platform and is still trying to get Swift 3 verified. Swift 5 comes with either a Core i5 or Core i7 processor, and Acer claims it provides 17 hours of battery life but the daily average battery life will probably be still lower.

Acer announces its latest Swift 3 and Swift 5 laptops with 11th Gen Tiger Lake CPUs
Acer Swift 5 (SF514-55) powered by 11th Gen Intel Core processors and verified as an Intel Evo platform notebook

“The new Acer Swift notebook lines represent a substantial leap forward in performance, responsiveness and usability for our customers who are cultivating a unique blend of work, life and passion-projects on-the-go,” said James Lin, General Manager, Notebooks, IT Products Business, Acer Inc. “Acer took meticulous care to ensure that all aspects of the design were elevated to match the best-in-class experience the Intel Evo platform provides to help our customers achieve more.”

However, the main focus on Acer’s latest release is the inclusion of the new 11th Generation Core processors. The 11th gen comes with a slightly modified version of 10th gen processors architecture and uses four of intel’s latest cores built within its willow cove architecture.

11th generation Tiger Lake:

While the 10th gen processors speed clocked at 4.0 GHz, the inclusion of a new core in the 11th gen has peeked its speed at 4.8Ghz. Intel this time has focused on the frequency gain while keeping the base clock speed at minimal.

The graphics have been improved considerably compared to the 10th gen. It supports up to four 4K60 displays or a single 8K60 display. The Tiger lake is said to support LPDDR4X-4267 up to 32 GB, DDR4-3200 up to 64 GB and intel reports that it will also support LPDDR5-5400 in 2021.

Tiger Lake also includes Wi-Fi 6 and supports up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports per device. Intel has also updated its algorithms to improve power and clocks on CPU, GPU, and memory fabric. Intel has also stated that the internal fabric bandwidth has been doubled to make communication between the CPU, GPU, and memory easier and to transfer much more data.

Acer has not much offered any other groundbreaking updates, apart from the new processor. The Swift 5 is said to have a 14-inch touchscreen with 340 nits of brightness and weighs less than 1kg. The laptop is also covered with an Antimicrobial Corning Gorilla Glass, which according to Acer, shall reduce odors and stains. The overall design of the laptop is also familiar and not anything innovative.

iPhone 11 was the best-selling smartphone of H1 2020

0

If your gadget is premium, then no one can stop you from becoming the highest seller. This line really suits Apple as its iPhone 11 was the best-selling smartphone of H1 2020. As we all know that 2020 is itself a cursed year in all aspects. Smartphones as well as other companies have faced a huge loss in their revenue. But in the case of Apple, this company was very much successful in the pandemic situation too. It’s been a great first 6 months for Apple.

Among all the iPhones from Apple, according to Omdia, iPhone 11 is the winner of best selling smartphone of H1 2020. If we check the statistics, iPhone 11 moved the whopping 37.7 million units in the first half of 2020. If we compare it to the iPhone XR of last year, the iPhone 11 whopping was more than 10 million from XR.

Moreover, Samsung is also not too far away from Apple. The Samsung Galaxy A51 was the second-best of selling. It was moving some 26.3 million units fewer than the iPhone. Last year, Samsung had four smartphones to feature in this list. But this time, only one has managed to get itself into the list.

Apple has already shipped 8.7 million iPhone SE (2020) units between April and June. That does not mean iPhone XR’s selling was hampered. Apple has still managed to ship 8 million iPhone XRs.Now coming to the main model, iPhone 11. This iPhone has sold 10.8 million more units than the iPhone XR did a year ago. According to researchers, an upgraded camera system and a little bit of lower starting price of the iPhone 11 than iPhone XR can be the main reasons for its high sale.

Xiaomi Redmi Smart Band will launch on 8th September

The Xiaomi backed Redmi is going to launch a new fitness band named “Redmi Smart Band” on this 8th September. The timing is scheduled at 12 noot on that day. Redmi India announced this on Tweeter and wrote, “Be a winner in everything you do!” That clearly indicates the Smart Band is coming with so many activities tracking modes. For the emojis given on the tweet, we can expect around 20 different sports modes.

Though the company didn’t mention the specs directly, on the image they mentioned a lot. If you observe the giant “WHAT’S YOUR SCORE?” writing the heart rate symbol is given first. Then a battery symbol for good battery life and water flow from ‘Y’ to ‘C’ mentioning the water resistance. The pricing details and variants are still in suspense.

Around a couple of hours back of this announcement, Redmi India also notified us regarding this saying “A new race starts today.” On that Tweet, it also wrote, “Life’s a game and we always score to WIN! Cause winners create history and so shall we.” It will not be surprising if through the band the individual user’s daily/weekly/monthly fitness score can be compared with others so that everyone can measure how fit s/he is.

Back in April, Xiaomi launched Redmi Band in China celebrating its 10th Anniversary. Our belief is this Redmi Band is now coming to India with the name of “Redmi Smart Band”. If so, here are the specs of the Redmi Band (China version).

It features a 1.08-inch color AMOLED touchscreen and promises up to 14 days of battery life like the Mi Band 4. Like the Realme Band, it also comes with a built-in charging port that plugs into a USB-A port on the charger, laptop, or PC, which is quite convenient than their traditional capsule-style band.

The band features a heart rate sensor, sleep monitoring and also comes with activity tracker which can track a lot of sport modes such as outdoor running, treadmills, walking, cycling, and others. You can even set sedentary alerts, reminders, and more because the software remains the same as Xiaomi’s Mi Band 4.

It has a 5ATM (50 meters) water resistance, similar to the Mi Band 4 which is surprising at its price point. You will find over 70 watch faces, which is great in fact, along with four colors (black, blue, olive, and red) for the strap.

In China this is priced 99.99 YUAN, so we can expect it at around ₹1,000 in India. Let’s see what exactly we get on 8th September.

POCO X3 unboxing video and price leaked way ahead of launch

0

POCO X3 is about to launch on 8th September this year. But shockingly, an unboxing video of the POCO X3 has been posted by an unknown person on YouTube. Though POCO has restricted the video already, but it is quite shocking to see an unboxing video way ahead of the release that device.

We also have some leaked images of that unboxing video, by which we can get a glance at this new smartphone from POCO, like the color and the camera interface, etc. POCO X3 NFC RAM variants and color variants have already been listed online. This phone will have two variants of internal storage: 64GB and 128GB and it will come in two color variants: Gray and Blue. This phone is expected to come with only a 6GB RAM variant.

Regarding the camera setup, the Poco X3 will have a rear quad camera set up inside a semi-curved rectangular shaped camera module. The primary camera will be true of 64-megapixel. The manager shared the first camera sample from this phone. Unfortunately, the phone should be taking 16 MP photos with pixel binning. It can also feature a 12-megapixel ultrawide angle sensor, with the macro and depth sensor. In the case of the front camera, there will be a 20-megapixel selfie shooter sensor. We can also catch a glimpse of the camera UI. It is quite similar to the F2 Pro, but not identical.

Regarding some other expected specifications of the Poco X3, this will have a huge 6.67-inch 120Hz AMOLED display with a 240Hz touch display. This phone is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 732 SoC and will run on Android 10 OS. Coming to the battery, Poco is confident that Poco X3’s battery can be charged fully in 65 minutes which is teased by Poco very recently. The chart below compares it with the Samsung Galaxy A71, which has a 4,500 mAh battery with the included 25 W charger and it takes 80 minutes to charge fully. The battery is expected to be of 5,160mAH with 33W fast charging. It is not sure whether the Poco X3 can charge it fully with a 33W fast charger within 65 minutes.

As Poco X3 is expected to be the successor of the Poco X2, there may be some really good processor and battery up-gradation we can see in the Poco X3. But the Poco X2 had a dual-camera setup in the front which we probably not going to see in the Poco X3. The Poco X3 is expected to have a single camera setup as a selfie shooter. There is also no information about the pricing of that device, but it can have a higher price range in comparison to the Poco X2. Still, the price is expected to be the US $ 995.00 to 1,245.00. We will get more official details about this phone in the run-up to the launch.
