The Coronavirus pandemic had postponed all the sporting activities which include Formula 1 as well. But things are better now, so after a long debate, F1 is starting its 2020 season with the Austrian GP on 3rd-5th July.
F1 has confirmed a schedule of 8 races but intends to add more races in the future so that there are 15-20 races in the 2020 season.
Formula 1: Confirmed Race Calendar
5th July: Austrian Grand Prix (Spielberg)
12th July: Styrian Grand Prix (Spielberg)
19th July: Hungarian Grand Prix (Budapest)
2nd August: British Grand Prix (Silverstone)
9th August: 70th Anniversary Grand Prix (Silverstone)
16th August: Spanish Grand Prix (Barcelona)
30th August: Belgian Grand Prix (Spa-Francorchamps)
6th September: Italian Grand Prix (Monza)
The Austrian GP will start by taking the knee from the drivers on the grid, to support the Black Lives Matter movement.
All the Formula 1 races will be held behind closed doors and severe limitations introduced with a new paddock protocol forbidding meetings.
Here’s some of the new rules as F1 starts:
As racing returns, the COVID-19 virus remains in circulation, which requires all participants to be analyzed before travelling to Austria on chartered jets, ongoing tests, the separation of teams and car crews into bubbles, and controlled resorts.
Teams are cut to a max of 80 employees, all in protective equipment, there’ll be no sponsors, no guests and just a limited number of licensed broadcast and written news media.
Journalists, limited to a dozen instead of 300 or more, need to pass a test in 3 days in advance of arrival and won’t be permitted to leave the media centre. All interviews and news conferences will take place by video.
There will be no podium ceremony.
When the race begins on 3rd July at the Austrian GP, it’ll end the longest gap between races in the sport since 1962.

Within the last few months, there have been numerous reports of Apple facing delays in the development of its own 2020 iPhone models as a result of COVID-19 pandemic. It looks like Apple is attempting to reduce the delay and start the new iPhones sooner than anticipated by pushing ahead with mass production along its supply chain.
Usually, the iPhone’s product development and testing happen early in the year. But this year with travel constraints and security concerns, Apple’s engineers were not able to go to China to confirm and test many elements for the new iPhones. This delayed the whole schedule by a month or two, leading many to speculate a long delay from the launch of the phone.
The 2020 iPhones will be Apple’s first 5G smartphones, using Qualcomm’s X60 5G modem, which makes it an essential device in its rivalry against Samsung and Huawei, who’ve already released 5G devices earlier this year. Apple is now attempting to cut down delays along the supply chain to be able to ensure the launch doesn’t get delayed too much.
They’re predicting their demand will not be impacted by the pandemic, which is evident from their 80 million units target for the 2020 iPhone models. New orders for older models of the iPhone also have been made, to maintain the revenue momentum, in case the 2020 iPhones go further delayed.
A source commented, “What the progress looks like now is months of delay in terms of mass production, but Apple is doing everything it can to shorten the postponement. There’s a chance that the schedule could still be moved ahead.”
Maybe this is the reason why this time leaks suggest that there will be separate 4G and 5G versions of the iPhone 12 series and can start at an ultra-low price of $549. So, Apple could launch the new iPhone 12 series at the same time every year and make 4G phones available first then take some time to make available the 5G ones.

German winger Leroy Sane is set to join Bayern Munich after the Bundesliga champions agreed on a deal with Manchester City that could be worth up to £54.8 million.
It’s a transfer story that has been bubbling away for several years. There had been growing speculation that Leroy Sane was keen on returning to Germany and he very nearly made the move last summer. The 24-year-old joined Manchester City from Schalke back in 2016 and enjoyed rapid success, winning two Premier League titles and an FA Cup within three seasons. Sane was also named the PFA Young Player of the Year in 2018 but things went awry in the summer of 2019.
With just two years left on his contract, he became the subject of major interest from Bayern Munich last summer. The Bundesliga champions needed to replace both Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery and the Germany international fitted the bill. A deal couldn’t be reached but Sane’s season with Manchester City was cruelly cut short when he suffered a knee injury in August of last year.
Sane has returned to fitness since then but still refused to agree on a new deal with City. Bayern reignited their interest and now, it has finally been announced. Sane will join the German champions and return to the Bundesliga just four years after leaving Schalke 04 for the Etihad. The deal will initially be worth £44.7 million but could rise to £54.8 million. City are also expected to have secured a 10% sell-on clause for any potential future transfer. The 24-year-old is set to earn upwards of £20 million per season from the German champions. He’ll join the young India-born starlet Sarpreet Singh at the Allianz Arena.
Pep Guardiola has now spoken about the player’s decision as Manchester City prepare to play out the final matches in the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, and FA Cup without the winger.
“We wish him all the best, big thanks for our years together. We wish him all the best in his new chapter at a fantastic club,” Guardiola said of the news.
“Is it disappointing? He wants to leave. Everyone has their own life. He deserves to move on. “I’d love him to stay here but he decided to move on because he believes he will be happier [in Munich].”
Of course, Guardiola joined the Premier League side from Bayern Munich. Leroy Sane headed from Germany to England at the same time and has cited Guardiola as a big factor in his decision to join the Manchester side.
“One of the reasons I decided to join City was Pep Guardiola,” he said back in 2016.
“He convinced me to come here and that I can continue to progress. I know I will learn a lot under him and now I can take the next step in my career. I think he can make me a more complete player.”
Sane is expected to head to Munich this week to complete the transfer but how will it affect them in the coming weeks? They have a further seven Premier League fixtures but their focus will be on the cup competitions. City are eager to continue their quest for a European title when the UEFA Champions League continues in August but have a domestic cup to try and win before then. City will take on Arsenal in the semi-final of the FA Cup on July 18th as they aim to win their second consecutive title. Guardiola’s side are the favourites to do just that at 8/13 to win the cup on Betway as of July 1st.
The bookmakers certainly don’t expect Leroy Sane’s departure to affect things at the Etihad too much this season. Guardiola can still call upon Raheem Sterling, Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden, and Gabriel Jesus in wide areas but the Citizens have still lost a potential key player.
The search for possible replacements has already begun. Reports suggest that City are looking at some Premier League stars such as Jack Grealish, Dwight McNeil, and Adama Traore as they look to replace the ten Premier League goals Sane scored in his second and third seasons in England. There are also suggestions that City are looking at young talents in the Bundesliga. Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey has been cited as a candidate, as has wonder kid Jadon Sancho at Borussia Dortmund. The latter is a particularly interesting link considering the winger left City to join Dortmund just three years ago. Whoever they decide to sign will have big boots to fill. Leroy Sane was an outstanding player for Manchester City and his flair and goalscoring ability will be difficult to replace. For Bayern Munich, it is a quite excellent signing. They’ve secured an established top-class player who is still relatively young and could feasibly play for them for the next eight years. City’s loss is very much Bayern’s gain.

The condition of Coronavirus pandemic is worsening in India. There are more than 6 lakhs people affected by COVID-19. It seems things are getting out of hand and this leaves no opportunity for the BCCI to host IPL 2020 in India in the September-November window.
The 13th edition of the IPL is likely to be moved outside the country. Sri Lanka board has officially offered to host the IPL, while UAE has previously hosted IPL so it knows how to successfully host the world’s biggest T20 league.
A BCCI official told IANS: “We are yet to decide on the venue but in all probability, it is going outside this year. The condition in India doesn’t look suited to have so many teams come in at one or two venues and then create an atmosphere which will be safe for the players as well as the general public even though the games may be played behind closed doors.”
“The race is between UAE and Sri Lanka and we will need to decide on where we host the league depending on the situation there with regards to the Coronavirus pandemic. Logistics also need to be looked into, so we will decide soon.”
BCCI will suffer a huge loss of around Rs 4,000 crores if they are unable to host the cash-rich league. BCCI has previously hosted the IPL outside India in two occasions. In 2009, the complete tournament was played in South Africa while in 2014, the first 20 matches were played in UAE.
Since UAE has hosted IPL in past, it remains the front-runner but Sri Lanka is very close to India so it will help the logistics. BCCI is waiting for an official word regarding the future of T20 World Cup before taking a final decision regarding IPL 2020.

Real Madrid has now made it official. They have published a statement on their official website. It read: “Real Madrid C. F. and Inter Milan have reached an agreement over the transfer of Achraf Hakimi.”
“The club wishes to thank Achraf for his many years of dedication, professionalism and exemplary conduct since he joined our academy in 2006 and wishes him all the very best in this new chapter.”
— Real Madrid C.F. 🇬🇧🇺🇸 (@realmadriden) July 2, 2020
According to many reports, Inter are paying Real Madrid in the region of €40m for the Moroccan international.
The Real Madrid academy product was on loan at Borussia Dortmund for the last two seasons. Hakimi has made 45 appearances in all competitions for Dortmund this season, scoring 9 goals and providing 10 assists to help the team finish second in the Bundesliga. He has become a world-class right-wing-back at Dortmund.
Achraf Hakimi has already written an emotional farewell letter to the Dortmund fans. Even though Achraf Hakimi has joined the Inter Milan squad, the Moroccan star will be eligible to play for Antonio Conte only from the next season.
Hakimi was asking for the assurance of a permanent first-team role if he returned to the Bernabeu. But Zidane has trusted Dani Carvajal with the right-back role instead of Hakimi. He would have played just like Mendy plays alternately with Marcelo.
The Moroccan was not convinced with the idea and opted for a permanent transfer. His personal choice was Antonio Conte’s Inter and Real Madrid has valued his choice.
Hakimi has been used in the wings by Dortmund. Conte also plays in the same formation with three centre-backs along with two full-backs who work as wingers. This tactic will suit Hakimi very well so this transfer move is turning out to be good for all the sides involved.

The new smartphone will be priced under $500 will feature a Snapdragon 765G SoC and have 5G connectivity as well, along with dual selfie cameras, 30W fast charging support and an AMOLED display with a high refresh rate.
OnePlus even claims that that the OnePlus Nord will have a “flagship-level camera” for under $500. But what about the name? The “Nord” name is quite unique and for its initial smartphone range in years, OnePlus is going with a name as opposed to a number or an alphabet.
There has been speculation about what the name Nord means and OnePlus’s Chief executive officer Carl Pei has stepped up to clarify the significance behind the name.
Through an Instagram post, the company executive stated the name stems from the “concept of the true north”. He even went on to clarify that we all possess an internal compass that guides us and concluded by saying the new product line is a reminder for them to always look for their true north. The total explanation is quite mysterious but interesting, typical OnePlus style, honestly.
Philippe Coutinho resides at Bayern and also completes his year-long loan span at Bayern Munich as June 2020 ends but due to the current situation, the Brazilian international decides to stay at Bayern until their Champions League campaign ends.
Obviously, the Barcelona loanee’s future was at stake on termination of his loan period, but according to Sport, both clubs have been forced to renegotiate and extend the loan spell by two months. This means Bayern Munich will now have him available for this weekend’s German cup final as well as the Champions League in August.
As per German outlet Bild, Bayern has decided to extend the loan of all three loan players at the club i.e. Coutinho, Perisic and Odriozola. Coutinho and Odriozola will ultimately leave when the season ends, but Perisic could actually stay.
All of the three players have accepted a 50% wage cut during the additional two months they will spend with Bayern. Bayern Munich already has won their 8th consecutive Bundesliga title and they both the German cup final against Bayer Leverkusen and the Champions League tie against Chelsea.
This extension will prove vital for Coutinho to perform in the last few matches, if he is included in the team, and if he does so, Barcelona will still get some money by selling him to any club, possibly back to the Premier League.
