ISL 2020-21 CLUB PREVIEW – Are ATK Mohun Bagan strong enough to defend their title once again?

Here we are, talking about the defending champions of the 19/20 season. ATK has only gotten stronger with last season’s I-League champions Mohun Bagan merging with them to create one powerful and strong looking force.

But will they be able to shun the challenges that come their way en route to becoming champions for the fourth time in their history? We take a brief look at how they stack up ahead of the new season –

TRANSFERS

ATK Mohun Bagan signed up Indian center-back Sandesh Jhinghan to strengthen their backline. They have also signed up Brad Inman, Carl McHugh, and Glan Martins to bolster their midfield shows that they are keen to have quality depth across all positions.

Another key fact is that they did not manage to release any significant first-team players, which is a strong point for the merger, which only sees them become even stronger as an overall squad.

STRENGTHS

This club is basically an amalgamation of two teams that were particularly strong in separate competitions. They have also reinforced their attack, which already had Roy Krishna and David Williams, which means they are now a stronger attacking outfit than before. ATK scored 33 goals in 18 games last season and expected them to score more this time.

WEAKNESS

The only possible weakness they have as a side is their tactical formation predicability. Having played the 3-5-2 for a long time, rival clubs might have deciphered their style of play and will look to bulk up on marking Williams and Krishna to stem the flow of goals, restricting ATK Mohun Bagan’s efficiency.

KEY PLAYER

Roy Krishna - Player profile 20/21 | Transfermarkt

Without a doubt, Roy Krishna is the most important footballer for ATKMB’s hopes of winning the title again. The 2019/20 season was truly fruitful for the Fiji captain, who scored 15 goals and 6 assists in 21 appearances. The perfect center-forward for the system, Krishna’s athletic ability coupled with his heading prowess, makes him a threat for opposition defenses.

PREDICTED TABLE FINISH

1st Place – They are definitely the side to beat heading into the tournament and finish top during the regular season. But they also have the most chances of winning in the Playoffs to lift the title.

New Apple MacBook Pro with M1 chip can deliver GTX 1050 level graphics

0

When Apple launched its new M1 chip, which is the first 5nm chip on a Mac, we had a lot of excitement, coming directly from the performance figures shown by Apple. However, Apple never did really refer to which CPU or GPU it was comparing to or the laptop it was referring to.

This again raised a lot of questions in the tech community, but, we did really receive an idea of the CPU performance through the leaked Geekbench score, which proves the base MacBook Air variant is more powerful than a MacBook Pro 16 with a Core i9-9980H in it.

Apple M1 chip: The fastest chip made by Apple, ever!

Thanks to Geekbench again, we now get an idea of the laptop’s GPU performance as well. Apple has used an 8-core GPU that promises the best-integrated graphics performance in the industry. It comes with 128 execution units, running up to 24,576 concurrent threads, delivering 2.6 teraflops of graphics performance.

Apple does claim its new M1 chip to deliver the best-in-class integrated graphics that let you edit 4K videos and use heavy applications like Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Final Cut Pro at highest resolutions, and support for 6K displays, media encoding, and decoding engines, and whatnot.

This has raised many expectations from Apple’s new tiny chip, but how does it perform in the real world? Thanks to the new leak, we see the internal GPU of the M1 chip posting 18,656 points on OpenCL.

New Apple MacBook Pro with M1 chip can deliver GTX 1050 level graphics

As we see in the charts, the Apple M1 chip will give almost a GeForce GTX 1050 desktop GPU level performance. This should be great enough for a lot of people because this is the performance of integrated graphics.

Also, paired with Apple’s 16-core Neural engine, the Apple M1 chip should give a good overall performance for daily usage, be it heavy productivity tasks or normal workloads. It will be interesting to see how the new Apple Macs perform in real-world applications in the coming days.

Google planning a revamp for Camera UI

0

The Android operating system the leading mobile OS in the world. Almost all the devices these days run on Google’s mobile platform. However, it is not common for OEM’s to abandon android devices and not offer any or all version updates. However, Google, the creator of Android, is another story. The company not only offers the latest OS updates to its devices but also offers app revamps.

As such, the company is now planning to introduce a new version of Google Camera with every Pixel device’s launch. We already know that the company launched the Google Camera 8.0 with new UI buttons and features along with the Pixel 5.

A Twitter user Kelvin Peralta states that the new update came with Play Store Version 8.1.008.341125824. He has also allegedly shared a screenshot of the Google Camera 8.1 UI on his Pixel 4 XL. The camera comes with a Cinematic Pan that helps stabilize video while panning(swivel horizontally) for shots.

Further, Kelvin says that it’s possible that Google decided to revamp the App directly with a new version. However, if all the other features of Camera 8.0 like Night Sight portrait quick zoom and quick access toggle in Video will be available is yet to be known.

According to sources, the new Google Camera 8.1 App also doesn’t seem to support sideloading. And an error relating to verification pops up while trying to do it. Hence, for now, it won’t be available for other devices.

Disney reveals the increase in subscriber for its streaming service

0

Disney recently revealed it Quarter four earnings for the fiscal year 2020, and with its revenue announcement, it also announced a huge rise in its subscribers. According to sources, Disney claims that its streaming service Disney+ had garnered 73.7 million subscribers globally as of October 3rd.

The increase was over 16.2 million from the previous quarter when the service was said to have 57.5 million subscribers. However, when considered as an overall factor than the streaming services like Hulu and ESPN+ now has more than 120 million premium users.

According to sources, a large chunk of the 120 million subscribers came from Disney+ Hotstar. According to the company, India alone accounts for 25 percent of all Disney+ subscribers. However, the average monthly revenue per paid subscriber for Disney+ Hotstar in India and Indonesia is lower than the subscription charges in North America and Europe.

CEO Bob Chapek said that “the popularity of the service has exceeded even the company’s own expectations. It has been) a real bright spot amidst the pandemic.”. the company’s CEO had also earlier predicted that Disney+ would have 60-90 million subscribers by 2024. According to sources, the company also earned $14.7 billion in revenues during the fourth quarter, obviously a big chunk of Disney+.

Though the pandemic might have boosted the company’s earnings in streaming services, its other investments like theme park and movie productions have taken a serious hit due to the pandemic. And the streaming could only add only a little to the companies overall profit.

Google is trying to link Nest Audio speakers with Chromecast streaming devices

0

The field of interconnecting devices is increasing in the market. With the demand for high-performing devices and the dependency on technology brought by the pandemic, many tech industries are trying innovations.

We have recently heard that Google is working on integrating its Chromecast streaming devices and Nest Audio speakers. Apparently, it is trying to give Google’s smart home and streaming gadgets a feature parity with Amazon and Apple.

It is a great idea to combine the streaming platform with a smartphone speaker. And customers already have all the hardware in their living room; there’s also the bonus of inviting customers to stay within a company’s ecosystem.

However, this feature to link smart speakers to streaming boxes is something that both Apple and Amazon already offer. Apple lets users link both HomePods and HomePod mini speakers to the Apple TV. Amazon, on the other hand, lets customers both use their Echo devices to control their Fire TVs and to output audio.

Google does not mention which devices the company is looking to link together. Nor does it say when the feature will arrive or what sort of use cases it’s looking to achieve. But with Google increasingly looking to push users toward its smart home devices, making them all work better together makes good sense. The interconnect device dependency is increasing. It would be a shame if Google didn’t dip its hand in this business. As to what and how this new feature will work remains to be seen.

Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered: An old nostalgia with a new taste

0

With every NFS game each year, we have major improvements and a new set of features that differentiates each version of the game. However, the thrill of chased by cops and racing against many cars remains constant each year.

Coming to chasing by cops, the deadliest chase I remember was in NFS Hot Pursuit 2, and it was the most endangering chase where it was damn difficult to find a way when you had more stars for bounty. Well, EA this year, has launched a “Remastered” version of their deadliest game that can bring nostalgia back into play.

Basically, this is the same old game with some tweaks to the graphics and environment, rest the gameplay, cars, and the concept remains the same. It takes up around 33.4 GB in terms of space, and you can easily get the game if you are an EA Play or a Play Pro subscriber.

Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered: An old nostalgia with a new taste

Crossplay

One of the biggest highlights of this game is the Crossplay feature’s introduction, which I guess EA is stressing in its recent games like Star Wars Squadron. Hopefully, in the future more EA games will have this functionality as well.

However, when you are asked whether you want the feature or not, you either enable it or disable it. But as for now, the game stops when you try to enable Crossplay, so it is better to disable for the time being.

Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered: An old nostalgia with a new taste

Multiplayer

Much like other NFS games, you can compete with friends and allies in a classic Hot Pursuit map with cops running in behind you. The improved graphics make the look better, but overall, that classic vibe of the old game is evident throughout this edition.

The Graphics

Okay, the first big improvement, or say the only improvement compared with the original title, is the graphics. Even though the environment is still the same, you feel a slight tweak in the details of the same map and graphics of the original game.

Also, you will notice some reflections, improved lighting effects, and shadows as well. Overall, even though you still feel it’s an old game, those slight improvements make it playable in 2020. I feel some more improvements could have been made on the cars’ detailing while driving; it is still ok considering its a “Remastered” edition of an age-old hit game.

Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered: An old nostalgia with a new taste

Gameplay

It’s a revamped NFS Hot Pursuit, so where’s all the fun without the cops? Well, still in the Remastered version of the game, the cops have a major role in your playing career. They are also very stubborn and incredibly fast like the original game; however, they do not like silly like before with improved details.

So, you can play either as a cop or a racer, much like the original game, the overall gameplay, the maps, everything remains the same, however, with some modern touch to make it worthwhile in today’s day. The indicator, the dash camera, the speedometer, and everything has a vibe of the original game.

Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered: An old nostalgia with a new taste

Going on bounties is as much as before as now because you still have more cops chasing you, and you get points on successful bounties as well as cars.

Cars

Much like other NFS games, you get a heck of a lot of cars to play with, and with each race or bounties, you keep on collecting more cars. These are the famous revamped cars from the original game, whether it’s from Dodge, Mitsubishi, Chevrolet, Audi, Maserati, BMW, or a Lamborghini.

  • Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered: An old nostalgia with a new taste

  • Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered: An old nostalgia with a new taste
  • Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered: An old nostalgia with a new taste
  • Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered: An old nostalgia with a new taste

One thing to note is that you cannot upgrade every part of a car, much like what you could do in the original Hot Pursuit game remains the same. You can change colors and upgrade some stuff only, one thing that I genuinely missed.

Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered: An old nostalgia with a new taste

As you get cars in a Player career, you also get some handsome cars in your cop’s career as well. From Ford cars to Chevrolet, a lot of cars unlock after each bounty.

Overall Experience

If you are a genuine lover of the original NFS Hot Pursuit game and I am sure you are, so reliving your favorite racing game from the past is not a bad idea. I loved playing it to bring back my childhood experience and as the game doesn’t cost much, you should give it a try.

It’s not comparable to the modern NFS games like NFS Heat or Payback, but one thing is that as it’s a revamped version, so it’s less graphic intensive, and you get smoother gameplay. So, you can run the game even on your old machines at ease, which couldn’t qualify for the other new NFS titles.

If you are an EA Play or Play Pro member, then grab the game for free and relive the original Hot Pursuit game in the new Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered.
