Sachin Tendulkar reveals why Dhoni batted ahead of Yuvraj in India’s famous World Cup win in 2011

0

Every Indian cricket fan have the fond memory of Mahendra Singh Dhoni hitting the ball over the boundary for that famous six off Sri Lanka pacer Nuwan Kulasekara. India won the 2011 World Cup after 28 years.

In that final, Dhoni promoted himself ahead of Yuvraj in the batting line up. Yuvraj was in fine form throughout the tournament. That decision made almost all the Indians upset. But Dhoni coming ahead of Yuvraj to bat, became the turning point of the match. He smashed an unbeaten 91 to take India over the line and lift the World Cup trophy.

dhoni

India’s Master Blaster was the one who came up with the strategy of sending Dhoni ahead of Yuvraj to bat with Gautam Gambhir in the final. Sachin Tendulkar has now revealed what prompted him to make that decision.

Sachin Tendulkar told Times of India: “The partnership between Gautam and Virat was flourishing and we wanted to be a couple of steps ahead of the opposition. That’s when I told Viru … if a left-hander (Gautam) gets out now, a left-hander (Yuvi) should go in, and if a right-hander (Virat) gets out, a right-hander (Dhoni) should go in.”

“Yuvi was in tremendous form but Sri Lanka had two off-spinners going, so I thought a strategy change would work. Gautam was batting brilliantly and someone like Dhoni could’ve kept rotating the strike. So I told Viru, tu overs ke beech mein sirf ye baat bahar jaake MS ko bol aur next over shuru hone se pehle waapis aaja. Main yahan se nahi hilne wala.”

“I asked MS to consider this strategy. He then went to Gary (Kirsten), who was sitting outside. Then Gary came in and all four of us got talking about it. Gary too agreed it was the right thing to do, given the attack on hand. MS also agreed and promoted himself up the order.”

dhoni yuvraj

Virender Sehwag said: “He [Dhoni] was right. Left-right combination needed to continue. That change in strategy completely caught the Sri Lankans off guard. Before he could even complete his sentence, we saw MS walking into the dressing room. So, that’s when he (Sachin) repeated the same thing to MS, in front of me.”

That batting order change helped India to successfully chase the 275 runs target Sri Lanka had set. Sachin Tendulkar lifted the World Cup trophy in the last World Cup match of his career.

Manchester United youngsters hoping to emulate ‘Class of 92’

0

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has always emphasized on giving the youth talents of his side a chance in the first team.

United has a lot of academy graduates in their side. Axel Tuanzebe, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Andreas Pereira, Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay, Mason Greenwood, Brandon Williams, Tahith Chong, James Garner and Angel Gomes are all United academy products to have been involved this season.

Last December, the Red Devils passed a milestone. They had an academy graduate involved in the matchday squad for 4,000 consecutive matches in all competitions.

Ryan Giggs, David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and Gary and Phil Neville wereall Manchester United academy graduates who spearheaded many successful years under Alex Ferguson.

Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe, a United academy graduate told the club’s website: “It’s just like the ‘Class of 92’, that’s something we’ve been wanting to replicate. This group of lads now that we have coming through, the oldest being Andreas and Scott, the youngest being Angel, Jimmy, Brandon and Mase, that bunch there can build the new foundation for the club.”

“We have the club’s identity installed in us. We help portray that identity to foreign players and help teach them the way of our club and to become better people, better players. It’s something that’s been the club’s identity for many, many years and I’m sure there’ll be more players to come through.”

manu

In last season Champions League, Manchester United overturned a 2-0 1st leg deficit in the 2nd leg by winning it 3-1 at PSG’s home ground. Five academy graduates played as Solskjaer’s side, weakened by injury and suspension progressed to the last eight.

Tuanzebe further added: “It speaks for itself, really. For so many boys to be involved in a Champions League game away from home, I don’t think it’s really been done.”

“The talent coming through is overwhelming. A lot are playing first-team football now, and a lot of them are capable of going to other teams in the Premier League and playing first-team football. So, I think our academy is very strong and obviously there’s just more to come.”

Recently we have seen a lot of OEMs using the latest Ryzen 4000 processors in their laptops and Lenovo will be the next one. The new Renoir APUs are getting popular these days as they are offering better performance for the price and the 7nm architecture is gaining trust among users as well.

The leaks on the Weibo forums via quite a few promotional pictures do reveal some of the features of the new Lenovo Legion laptops as well as differences compared to the existing Intel-powered variants.

The Lenovo Legion R7000 / R7000P will be the alleged gaming laptops which will be powered by the Renoir APUs up to the Ryzen 7 4800H.

Few of the key specs of the laptops leaked so far:
