The Emotional Court Proceedings

Recent revelations from Dhanashree Verma have shed light on the emotional intensity of the final court hearing. In an interview with Humans of Bombay, she revealed: “I started howling and crying in front of everybody. I cannot even express what I was feeling at that point.” Despite being mentally prepared for the outcome, the reality of the moment overwhelmed her completely.

Yuzvendra Chahal’s approach to the proceedings generated controversy, particularly when he wore a t-shirt with “Be Your Own Sugar Daddy” printed on it to court. Dhanashree’s reaction was surprisingly lighthearted: “Are bhai, WhatsApp kar deta. T-shirt kyu pehna hai? (You should have sent it on WhatsApp. Why wear the T-shirt?)”

Legal Details and Settlement

The legal proceedings were expedited after the Bombay High Court waived the statutory cooling-off period of six months under Section 13-B(2) of the Hindu Marriage Act, allowing the couple to finalize their divorce immediately. This decision was influenced by Yuzvendra Chahal’s IPL commitments with Punjab Kings.

As part of the settlement, Chahal agreed to pay permanent alimony of ₹4.75 crores to Dhanashree Verma in two installments. The first installment of ₹2.37 crores had already been paid, with the remaining amount settled during the final proceedings.

Moving Forward: New Chapters Begin

Both Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma are now focusing on their respective careers. While Chahal continues his cricket journey with Punjab Kings in the IPL, Dhanashree is set to make her acting debut in a Telugu-language dance drama film, slated for release in October 2025. She’s also working on her music projects and recently appeared in the track “Ting Ling Sajna” alongside Rajkummar Rao.

Addressing the Rumors and Speculation

The divorce proceedings were accompanied by numerous false claims and baseless rumors. Dhanashree addressed allegations about their marriage being “fake,” emphasizing, “There is a reason why we say ‘personal life’. It has to be private… Just because I am not speaking it doesn’t give anyone the power to take advantage of that.”

The couple’s separation had been brewing since 2022, with the court noting that they had “no marital relationship for more than two and a half years” and “resided separately in Delhi and Mumbai” during this period.

What This Means for Yuzvendra Chahal’s Career

With the legal proceedings behind him, Yuzvendra Chahal can now fully concentrate on his cricket career. The timing of the divorce resolution was particularly important given his commitments with Punjab Kings in the IPL, demonstrating how personal and professional lives often intersect for public figures.

The conclusion of this chapter allows both individuals to move forward without the burden of ongoing legal proceedings, focusing on their respective careers and personal growth.
