Lenovo Legion Gaming smartphone passes through 3C certification

0

Lenovo teased a smartphone which is going to be launched pretty soon under the name of their gaming brand, Legion. This smartphone caught a lot of limelight when some official images revealed that this smartphone doesn’t look like any other gaming beast in the market. All the images indicated that this smartphone is intended to be used horizontally. Which let us think more about its camera placements and all.

But until now let talk about another news which claimed that this Legion gaming smartphone has now strolled through China’s 3C with model number L79031. Though the news is genuine the listing only reveals a few information about the device.

This Legion smartphone will come with 5G connectivity as suggested by China’s 3C certification website. It also mentions that the charger will go up to 45W even though earlier teasers suggested the phone will support 90W charging. It is also expected that there will be multiple variants of the Legion phone, but the company confirmed back in April that all variants would have 90W charging.

According to some reports, the Legion phone includes a 144Hz refresh rate display (with a touch sampling rate of 270Hz), UFS 3.0 internal storage, LPDDR5 RAM, and a centrally placed rear camera setup with 64MP main shooter and a 16MP ultrawide unit. There will also be a front-facing camera with a 20MP sensor, and the front camera pops out of the long edge of the phone. This also indicates that the phone is genuinely intended to be used horizontally and this feature will also help in gaming.

Realme X3 appeared in Google Play Console and reveal specifications

0

Realme X3 was in talks for quite a few days as the company revealed the Realme X3 SuperZoom last month but the company has kept the vanilla version X3 on hold. But if you are thinking about how we know about it then go through this article. But now as we know it is real and recently it also appeared in the Google Play Console lists revealing some of its specs.

There are three X3 versions (possibly regional variants): RMX2081L1, RMX2085L1, RMX2086L1. They all have the same specs, at least the specs revealed by the Play Console, and all three were certified by India’s BIS. But still, there is no news about the launch of those devices.

One of the renowned tipster Stufflistings has shared an image which reveals the same specifications which are mentioned in the Google Play Console list. This tipster has also said that according his source the mentioned specifications will be more or less the same as the Realme X3 SuperZoom.

The Realme X3 is powered by the same Snapdragon 855+ as the SuperZoom. It gets 8GB RAM instead of 12GB like the X3 SuperZoom. The Play Console doesn’t say it, but it’s unlikely that this has 5G connectivity. The display will have a (1080 x 2400)px resolution but it’s not clear if it will be a 120Hz display like on the SuperZoom or not. The phone will come with Android 10 out of the box.

According to Stufflistings, the phone will come with a 64MP primary camera and will also feature a 2X telephoto lens. Not all the specifications are official but we can anticipate them to be more or less genuine and will have to wait until any official news appears.

HTC Desire 20 Pro specifications leaked after it appears in Google Play, Geekbench, and NCC list

0

HTC is again stepping in this year with a new device named Desire 20 Pro and will follow some latest trends with some latest specs in it. The HTC Desire 20 Pro appeared a few days ago in Geekbench listing with a model number HTC 2Q9J1000 and now this same model number has been spotted in Google Play support page and NCC listings. The same listing also hints us about a vanilla version about which we still have no information.

This HTC device appeared in the Console as well and revealed more about its specifications and design. The Desire 20 Pro will be powered by a Snapdragon 665 chipset with 6GB of RAM, a break from the low-end MediaTek chips that HTC used in many of its recent releases. Here’s a sad statistic – this will be HTC’s first phone to launch with Android 10. The only company it will have is U11 Life, which launched with 8.0 and recently got updated to 10.

This image is not the exact one, but the previously leaked schematics indicate a punch-hole design. Whereas, this image shows that its screen has 1,080 x 2,340px resolution. So if we anticipate the display size will be of around 6.5”. It’s probably an LCD panel since there will be a fingerprint reader on the back.

There is no information available about the HTC Desire 20 Pro more than this at this point. So, we are waiting for some concrete report to share with you all.

In the last 7 years, AMD has shipped over half a billion GPUs

0

AMD was the first company to launch the concept of “APU” i.e. CPU + GPU in a single chip which disrupted the market totally. It now reigns both in GPUs and CPUs, a recent report from Jon Peddie Research (JPR) says that the Red team has shipped approximately 553 million chipsets in the last 7 years.

Now, this includes both discrete and integrated graphics, and the figures even beat the corresponding numbers from Intel and NVIDIA. As we see in the graph, it all began in the year 2013 when AMD won the contract for both Xbox and PlayStation console projects.

Source: JPR

This success of AMD is obviously due to the fact that they have been strong in delivering great APUs with integrated Radeon graphics for desktops and laptops along with its budget-friendly discrete GPUs. Not to forget, AMD’s partnership with Apple for its professional products like MacBook Pro or Mac Pro or iMac Pro and others.

As we see AMD has gained in number of shipments each year and a major part of it comes from consoles, with Xbox and PlayStation accounting for 9% and 20% of AMD’s shipment. Also, AMD has some handsome figures when it comes to laptops, 18% coming from discrete mobile GPUs and the highest of 23% coming from mobile APUs.

Obviously AMD will gain more shipments in 2020 with the latest 7nm based Ryzen 4000 mobile APUs which delivers immense performance both on the CPU and GPU front. AMD has managed another 18% from its discrete desktop graphics and 12% from its desktop APUs, which will increase with latest RDNA 2 based GPUs and Ryzen 4000 Renoir desktop APUs.

However when the figures are broken down, and compared to Intel (for integrated graphics) or Nvidia (for discrete graphics), both of the companies beat AMD in their respective department, but overall AMD beats both of them. Things are to change more in future as AMD has partnered with Samsung for its upcoming Exynos SoCs with AMD graphics.

Epic Games Store will be making its way to smartphones

0

Being launched back in 2018, Epic Games Store is one of the fastest-growing digital gaming markets, with its most famous eSports title Fortnite. Through it Epic Games have been making a handsome amount of money, investing them in giving deep discounts for games along with giveaways every week.

It has attracted a lot of gamers by this strategy and its recent giveaway of the GTA V actually shred its server apart, due to huge traffic. Since then, it has given away Civilization 6, Borderlands and much more games, and who knows a bigger game might be in cards for the rising Epic Games Store platform.

Epic Games Store will be making its way to smartphones

So, having disrupted the PC gaming department, in an recent interview with Gamespot, the CEO of Epic Games, Tim Sweeny did confess the fact they will be launching its platform for smartphones as well. Already, the company’s Fortnite game is now active on Google Play Store after a lot of confusion.

Obviously, launch its big gaming market on mobiles will benefit in bringing Fortnite and pairing it with the market, also do note that Epic Games Store’s partnership with Tencent, can ultimately expand its market. Tim went on to say a lot of things:

“We’d like to bring the [Epic Games] Store to iOS in the future, and we will bring it to Android. We think it’s a good way to help the industry [move] forward and it’s another way where Epic as a game developer had built up this audience around Fortnite and learned how to operate a distribution platform on PC and Android.”

Epic Games Store will be making its way to smartphones

“Now, as we’ve done with many things from the Unreal Engine to the Epic Online services, we open it up to all other developers to use with their games and are trying to serve the industry and provide a really interesting alternative to the ecosystem.”

From his words, it’s clear that Epic Games is thought to expand its market to mobile but obviously it will be hard to make revenue considering the fact most of the popular games are free to play on phones. Also, no launch date was told but considering its reputation, Epic Games shouldn’t have any trouble to bring its store to both Android and iOS.

Karnam Malleswari: The first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal is set to get a biopic

There have been many biopics on sports personalities: Milkha Singh, Mary Kom, Vinesh Phogat, MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar to name a few among those. Karnam Malleswari is all set to be included in that list as her biopic is about to be made.

Karnam Malleswari is the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal. She won a bronze in weightlifting at the Sydney Olympics 2000. She had lifted 110 kg in the snatch and 130 kg in the clean and jerk categories for a total of 240 kg in the Olympics. She is still the only Indian woman weightlifter to win an Olympic medal.

There are many Indian athletes who have brought fame to India but sadly has been forgotten by this cricket-centric country. After 20 years, finally, her story from Srikakulam to Sydney will reach to the people.

Kona Venkat has written the biopic of Karnam Malleswari. He told: “A poor girl from a remote village in Srikakulam district won the bronze medal for India in the Olympics. That is definitely a big story to narrate.”

Telugu director Sanjana Reddy, who shares the same hometown with Malleswari will direct this multilingual movie that has a reported budget of Rs 70 crore. The script and casting are yet to be finalised.

karnam malleswari

Karnam Malleswari revealed that she was not after fame and money during her playing days just like the other athletes of that time. She told Indian Express in an interview: “If I’m honest, it didn’t bother me that much at the time. Our mind was never in that direction. Athletes today know that they want the money, the publicity – we never had that knowledge at the time. Our motivation was that there were international competitions every three months and losing in any of them would be shameful. But at that time, we never realised that money and fame is important as well.”

She wants people to see her as she is with all the struggles and sacrifices she had to make to reach those heights which is unbelievable for an Indian women weightlifter. She said: “My only request was that Karnam Malleswari should be seen for what she is. My struggles, my training, all the coaches I went through – it must be there for all to see.”

7nm based Intel Ocean Cove architecture to deliver 80% gains in IPC?

0

Intel is having a hard time in both laptop and PC department, most of its CPUs are not much appealing to high performance craving buyers. The inability to shift to a 10 nm or 7 nm has resulted Intel in loosing market share to AMD rapidly, and this needs a fix for such a big company like Intel.

Recently, a Weibo user posted the estimates for process node and IPC gains for Intel’s upcoming Ocean Cove and Golden Cove architecture. This was spotted by the reliable Twitter user @MebuiW.

So, according to the tipster, Intel’s Ocean Cove architecture based on 7 nm process is supposed to release in 2022 or 2023. Along with that, the architecture is said to provide a humongous 80% increase to IPC with respect to the age-old Skylake architecture.

Also this might help Intel to pass the 5.5 GHz barrier or even reach 6 GHz with more efficient process nodes. But it is worth noting that at which pace AMD is going, in 2022 or 2023, the upcoming Ryzen 5000 CPUs deliver even better performance from its upcoming Zen 3 based Ryzen 4000 CPUs, jumping from 7 nm to 5 nm.

If this rumour actually becomes truth then by the time Intel comes up with its 7nm Ocean Cove architecture, AMD will certainly be on the verge of using the enhanced 5nm process or even better process on its desktop CPUs. Overall, this lack of switching to a modern process node for Intel might be costly over the time, benefitting AMD to gain market share.
