Coalition for App Fairness formed against the Cupertino Giant

0

Apple is the largest tech company in the world. The companies GDP alone crosses that of many countries. But, as the uncle ben used to say, “with great power comes great responsibilities”.

So, the question now stands as to Exactly how much power app store owners should have over developers?

The companies who believe that Apple is following its draconian app store policies to subdue innovations while increasing their profit are many in the market. These companies have always gone on either a media scuffle or legal scuffle with the Cupertino giant.

Now, however, these companies have actually banded together to form what is now called the “Coalition for App Fairness.

The group describes itself as, “an independent non-profit organization founded by industry-leading companies to advocate for freedom of choice and fair competition across the app ecosystem.

The 13 founding members of the coalition are all the developers who have been in a scuffle with apple at some point in time.

They include some big names like:

  • Epic launched a full-fledged war over Apple’s 30 percent cut that’s resulted in the biggest game in the world removed from the App Store entirely.
  • ProtonMail, whose CEO said Apple was holding developers “hostage” with the 30 percent fee.
  • Basecamp, which called Apple’s policies “exploitative” after updates to its Hey email app was blocked for using the same non-Apple billing technique that Netflix uses.
  • Blix claimed that Apple stole its ideas for anonymous email sign-in and then booted it from the App Store.
  • Tile testified in Congress that Apple used its platform to undercut its product’s usability on iOS.
The founding members are putting forth a coordinated effort for developers to formally protest against Apple’s rules.

The Coalition states, “companies of any size, in any industry who are committed to protecting consumer choice, fostering competition, and creating a level playing field for all app and game developers globally.

The Coalition has brought forth three main issues against Apple:

  • Apple’s 30 percent cut of any payments sold through the store.
  • Lack of any other competitive options for app distribution on iOS.
  • Claim that Apple uses its control over iOS to favor its own services.

Tim Sweeney, CEO and founder of Epic Games released a statement citing, “We are joining the Coalition for App Fairness to defend the fundamental rights of creators to build apps and to do business directly with their customers”.

The Coalition for App fairness is hoping to gain influence over apple by utilizing a united front of developers. However, this coalition is still not enough to bend the Cupertino giant.

At the end of the day, these developers have to launch their Apps on Apple’s App Store while paying Apple’s fees. No matter the number of developers forming a united front against apple, it is still hard to imagine the Tech giant suffering any loss.

Mobile Gaming has been growing in the past 10 years. Here is why

0

Do you play mobile games and wondering how big the industry is? We are bringing you all information about this rapidly-growing market!

Technology has evolved rapidly in the past decade and impacted almost every industry, including entertainment. Gaming, which is one of the most famous ways of consuming entertainment content, records a sky-rocket growth caused mainly by technology improvements. Do you remember the days when we played an ever-popular Snake on Nokia phones? Three hundred fifty million people worldwide spent hours and days playing this iconic game. Nowadays, games are more sophisticated, and players can enjoy a much more comfortable experience. Let’s have a more in-depth look at how big the mobile gaming industry is.

Mobile – The future of gaming

Mobile gaming plays a substantial part in the overall gaming industry, and it already produced almost half of the revenue of the entire industry. Do not forget that the market includes tablet and PC gaming as well. The growth of mobile gaming is astonishing, despite being a relatively new market in the industry. It is estimated that around 2.5 billion people all around the world play games on their smartphones, which represents almost one-third of the world’s population.

Nowadays, mobile games are easily accessible through the apps, as consumers can buy them in one of the app stores or download them for free. Gaming is the third most popular app category, together with music. Social media and shopping apps are the only ones that have more mobile users than gaming applications. Although most of the games are free to download or cheap to buy, the vast number of users still brings significant revenue to publishers from in-app purchases. Consumers have a vast choice of different types of games, but one of the famous ones are the casino apps. Some people play them for fun and other place real-money bets, but they all find them very amusing and catchy. Some of the best casino apps in India like the ones categorized here offer numerous of games suitable for everyone’s taste. It’s just important to not take it too seriously and use them only for entertainment.

Why are people more focused on mobile gaming?

Mobile devices became more convenient for a range of different activities that are not restricted only to gaming. If you need to go shopping online or make some e-banking transactions, you don’t need to be constrained to using only your PC or laptop. Although you need an internet connection to perform online activities, that is not an issue nowadays since you can find reliable networks almost everywhere. No matter if you are in a coffee shop or at the restaurant, an internet connection should be available to you.

It applies to mobile gaming as well. Gamers can carry their devices everywhere and enjoy playing time while travelling to work or having a drink at the bar. They are not restricted to the particular space where they can play games, which makes smartphones more convenient over gaming consoles or PCs. Part of mobile gaming’s breakneck growth lies behind the fact that the user experience has reached a much higher level than it was the case just a few years ago. In-app purchases, unique features, and loyalty rewards have contributed to its popularity and made mobile gaming more engaging than ever.

Mobile devices are becoming more powerful

Just a couple of years ago, mobile devices couldn’t come even close to PCs and laptops in terms of the hardware and software features. The processor speed, graphics quality, and memory capabilities were the biggest advantage of desktop devices. However, the processing time of smartphones has become significantly reduced, and their graphics effects are much better compared to many past consoles. Although some limitations can never be bypassed, such as the screen size, they are neutralized by other advanced features that make mobile gaming so attractive. Today, many more people, particularly in India, are in possession of mobile devices rather than desktop machines.

Technology around smartphones had evolved rapidly in the past few years, and nowadays, you cannot imagine any reputable program, website, or any software without a mobile version of it. It was pretty challenging to adapt the software to mobile devices, but thanks to new tools, it has never been easier. A lot of companies take mobile platforms very seriously, and they put as much effort to make their software compatible with them as to PC compatibility.

A perfect example of this approach is the Finnish cloud gaming company Hatch Entertainment. Cloud gaming is the future of this industry since it allows players to play the game by streaming it rather than having to download it and run on the local machine. There are already a couple of giants in the gaming stream services such as Twitch, Mixer, or Stadia, but Hatch is focused on streaming games to mobile devices. In a brief timeframe, the company became the world’s leader in the mobile cloud gaming industry.

Mobile games are very straightforward

In case you still haven’t tried out mobile gaming, don’t worry, you don’t need to have some particular skill to start playing them. They are very easy to get in, and even non-gamers who have never played them before can become good players quickly. The most popular ones, like Angry Birds, Fortnite, or Candy Crush, are suitable even for children who can enjoy playing those with their parents.

The mobile gaming space will continue getting increased investment and attention. The 5G era is arising, and it can only bring improvements and continue transforming mobile gaming, and make it even more exciting.

Snapdragon 875 Plus could be troublesome for Apple A14 Bionic

0

Mobile computing has garnered a lot of attention. With new and high-end processors hitting the market early this year, the competition has always been neck to neck.

However, there is one indisputable champion among the mobile SoC’s. The crown is held by none other than Apple’s A14 Bionic.

WinFuture journalist Roland Quandt claimed on twitter that Qualcomm is working on a high-end counterpart to Snapdragon 875. The new processor will allow manufacturers to further tap into a performance that is beyond Snapdragon 875.

The codename is speculated to be “Lahaina+”, as it’s the Snapdragon 875 Plus.

Quandt didn’t actually highlight if Lahaina+ is actually a new processor or its Snapdragon 875G renamed as Snapdragon 875 Plus. What we do know now is that Samsung and Qualcomm have reportedly struck an $850 million deal. With this deal, Qualcomm will provide 100 percent of orders to the company. It means that the rumored Lahaina+ will be mass-produced.

Snapdragon 875+ might feature a custom Kryo 685 core based on the ARM Cortex-X1 Super Core.

Qualcomm has only released minor changes when releasing the ‘Plus’ variants of smartphone chipsets. These include increasing CPU and GPU clock speeds, resulting in a small performance increase. With the Snapdragon 865 Plus, Qualcomm was generous enough to add Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 support.

Will the new processor cause any trouble for the Cupertino giant?

Apples A14 Bionic is the current undisputed champ among mobile SoC’s that exists in the market. To date, no processor in the market has come close to even match the performance of the Cupertino giant’s SoC.

Apple’s A14 Bionic has performed extremely well in both single-threaded and multi-treaded ratings.

But a more powerful Snapdragon 875 Plus could allow Qualcomm to take the performance crown from Apple for the first time in years.

It will be interesting to see what changes the Snapdragon 875 Plus, or Snapdragon 875G bring to the table other than just a minute increase in performance.

Manchester United can face a huge economic crisis because of pandemic

0

COVID-19 has already shaken the economy of the whole world. All the European clubs are facing a heavy crisis in their economy. Some big clubs like Manchester United, Juventus also faced economical problems this summer.

Supporters are not allowed inside the stadium since the pandemic has started. Premier League and Championship are forecasted to lose out on around £1 billion if fans don’t come soon to the stadium.

PL Lion 1 Manchester United can face a huge economic crisis because of pandemic

Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, recently revealed the idea of bringing a small number of fans to the stadium, just like the way fans are back to the stadium in the UEFA Super Cup final yesterday between Bayern Munich and Sevilla FC. But according to new rules of lockdown and curfews, it may not possible this year.

Recently it was estimated that Manchester United can lose out on around £5 million per match day and may lose around £140 million in total for these new rules.

Manchester United has already faced so many problems in the transfer window. They are yet to sign some of their prime targets this year because of their financial issues. They have signed only the Dutch midfielder Donny Van De Beek from Ajax.

The Red Devils cannot recuperate a single transfer fee for a player this summer. They have only sold Alexis Sanchez to Inter. But they needed to let him go for free as his wage was too high, though United will save an amount of money as they don’t need to compensate to terminate the contract.

United are also in talks with AS Roma to sell Chris Smalling. Some other players are also in talks with multiple clubs. Not only Manchester United, but all the other clubs of Premier League has faced problems in selling. The players are reluctant to relocate because of the virus, meaning many teams have been unable to move on unwanted figures.

Amazon Luna: The rival of Google Stadia has been introduced

0

Around a year after the launch of Google Stadia, Amazon brought its new game streaming service down to the field. It has been named Amazon Luna and nearly identical to its rival Google Stadia.

Amazon Luna streams more than 100 games from the cloud to the apps on various platforms like PC, Mac, Fire TV, iPhone, and iPad. For iPhones and iPads, it has special web applications. If you are an Android user, not to worry. Amazon will launch for this platform too, after Luna’s debut in the market.

Amazon Luna - 1_TechnoSports.co.in

I already mentioned that Amazon Luna will come to the market with more than 100 games and also various titles including Control, GRID, Abzu, Panzer Dragon, Sonic Mania, Metro Exodus, Overcooked 2, and Rime. Luna also brings Ubisoft’s own ‘channel’, for some other major titles like Assassins Creed Valhalla, and Fenyx Rising are also added to the list.

Though the cost of Ubisoft’s components is not declared yet, the ‘introductory’ price of Luna+ will be $5.99/month. In return, you will get access to all games, unlimited gameplay facility at 1080p/60fps.

Amazon Luna Controller_TechnoSports.co.in

Just like Google Stadia, Luna also has its own controller, costs $49.99 during Early Access. This controller ‘goes straight to Amazon’s service’ and doesn’t use Bluetooth or any other local connections. This helps to reduce the latency by up to 17-30 milliseconds.

The Amazon Luna is integrated with Twitch where streamers can stream their gameplays and audiences can join to view that with just one click.

Well, a 65W charger will not be something very new as we have already seen OnePlus. counterparts like Xiaomi and Realme adopting the new charging speedway before OnePlus. Several budget handsets even now come with the 65W chargers so it will be not as exciting as the original Dash Charger but it will be exciting to see how OnePlus will be implementing it.

OnePlus also gave us a little sneak peek of the upcoming Warp Charge 65 in the latest forum post and according to the forum post the upcoming charging technology will be able to give a day’s power in 15 minutes and it will be capable of charging OnePlus 8T’s 4500mAH battery completely in 39 minutes and it can charge half the battery in 15 minutes.

The OnePlus 8T will be having a dual battery setup and the new charger will be charging both the batteries simultaneously at more than 30W without being heated up.

Another big highlight of the upcoming OnePlus 8T will be a 120Hz display which has been officially confirmed by the OnePlus be CEO Pete Lau on the microblogging platform Twitter and he even said that he’s using the phone from the last few months.

OnePlus has also shared a video teaser for Warp Charge 65 which basically summarises OnePlus’ earlier charging technology and reveals the name of the new 65W charging tech.

OnePlus 8T 5G is set to arrive on October 14 without the bigger “Pro” variant as per the ongoing rumors.
