4) Rochharzela – NorthEast United

NorthEast United rope in attacking duo Rochharzela & Lalkhawpuimawia

Signed by the Highlanders for the upcoming season, former Aizawl FC academy product Rocharzela could just be the attacking midfielder that Northeast have missed in the last couple of seasons. He scored 6 goals in 15 games last year and will be expected to supply the forward line with some crucial assists as well.

India will host the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in 2022

After successfully hosting the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2017, India was rewarded with FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in 2020. But FIFA cancelled both FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup this year because of the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

But FIFA will organize the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in 2022 which will be held in India. The tournament was initially supposed to be held in November 2020. Then FIFA revised the dates and scheduled the tournament on March 2021. FIFA has now cancelled the revised date once again and announced that the tournament will be held in 2022.

fif India will host the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in 2022

FIFA stated, “Since the previous decision earlier this year to reschedule both tournaments to early 2021, FIFA has been consulting with all stakeholders. As a result and after careful consideration of the feedback received by the stakeholders combined with the inability to further postpone these tournaments, the FIFA-Confederations COVID-19 Working Group subsequently recommended that the 2020 editions of the two women’s youth tournaments be cancelled and that the hosting rights for the 2022 editions be offered to the countries that were due to host the 2020 editions.”

“In light of not being able to host the tournament next year, FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup taking place in India in 2022 comes as a delightful silver lining. Following discussions with FIFA, we agreed that hosting the tournament without proper qualifications and without spectators led to more uncertainty, and it would have taken away from our objective of developing and promoting women’s football by hosting the competition in such circumstances”- AIFF president Praful Patel said in Press Conference.

The matches will be played in 5 different venues. The venues are Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (VYBK) in Kolkata, Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati, EKA Arena in Ahmedabad, and the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

Microsoft is planning a new security chip for Windows PCs

0

Microsoft is not new to releasing new features and technology to protect its interests. It has even tackled and reported the attacks of Russian and North Korean hackers on Covid vaccine centers. Now the Redmond-based giant is offering a new security chip that is designed to protect Windows PCs.

The chip dubbed as Microsoft Pluton is a security processor. It will be built directly into future CPUs of Windows PC’s. The Pluton will replace the current existing Trusted Platform Module (TPM). The TPM’s were currently being used to secure hardware as well as cryptographic keys. According to sources, Microsoft is presently working with chip makers like Intel, AMD, and Qualcomm to combine them into future CPUs.

Microsoft states that the new chip is designed to block unknown attack vectors used to compromise PCs. If the chip works out as planned, it will be one of the major steps in creating processors that can withstand growing attacks.

David Weston, director of the enterprise and OS security at Microsoft, stated, “We shipped the Xbox which has this physical attack protection so people can’t just hack it for games, etc., we learned principles of effective engineering strategies from that, and so we’re taking those learnings and partnering with Intel to build something for the PC that will stand up to that emerging attack vector.”

Microsoft’s working with Intel, AMD, and Qualcomm mean that Pluton will be updated from the cloud. The updates will be issued monthly and in patches and will also arrive with regular Windows fix updates. The Spectre and Meltdown, which occurred recently, acted as a wake-up call for the entire tech market. With Pluton’s development, the chip makers are finally taking a significant step towards creating complex security PCs.

Marvell Brings First 112G 5nm SerDes Solution in The Industry

0

Yesterday, Marvell announced the industry’s first 112G 5nm SerDes solution. In the market, there are three SoCs, built on TSMC’s N5 process: the Apple A14 SoC, used in iPhone 12 series, the Apple M1 SoC, used in Mac Mini and MBA/MBP, and the Huawei Kirin 9000 5G SoC, used in the Mate 40 Pro.

Here comes the next one in the list, but it is not the standard SoCs. It has an IP block, which converts parallel data into serial data. SerDes IPs are used to get high-speed communication between chips.

Marvell is a powerful foundation, trusted by leading technology companies of the world for 25 years. The company builds semiconductor solutions to secure, store, and move data according to its customers’ needs.

All the latest chip-to-chip networking infrastructure is depending upon the high-speed SerDes connections. The high-speed connection is presently a 56G connection; now, with 112G, it will double the speed. Many companies have 112G IP available, but Marvell is the first who implies it in 5nm and propose it for licensing.

The new 112G SerDes have an aim to offer a less power consuming solution with a lower potential error rate for those high-speed and high-reliability infrastructure applications. Marvell is claiming a remarkable power reduction in energy when a bit is transferred. The reading says less than 40dB insertion loss is seen when at 112G PAM4 channels were operated.

Sandeep Bharathi, Marvell’s senior vice president of Central Engineering, said that “Our new 112G 5nm SerDes solution, with its industry-leading power, performance and area metrics is a true game-changer and will help scale data infrastructure to meet growing interconnect requirements. System performance is typically limited by bandwidth and power in most infrastructure applications, and our new 112G solution in 5nm addresses this by doubling the bandwidth while reducing the overall I/O power.”

For the implementation of 112G, Marvell is already working with its custom ASIC customers covering multiple markets.

AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT ray tracing scores leaked

0

Today marks the availability date for AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT and while we haven’t got the cards in our hands, what we did actually get is the leaked ray tracing scores of the GPU. Videocardz has shared a slide from AMD’s internal database that shows the GPU’s ray tracing performance.

The first time, with RDNA2 architecture, AMD is introducing a new core type called Ray Accelerator. So, each Compute Unit offers one RA, so the RX 6800 XT has 72 Ray Accelerators in total, and AMD expects this implementation to offer 10X ray tracing intersection performance compared with software implementation.

However, in the leaked slide, we see AMD showing five games with Ray tracing enabled at 1440p. The Radeon RX 6800XT in Battlefield V offers 70 frames per second on average while in Call of Duty MW its about 95 FPS, and both games running at Ultra DXR quality.

On the other hand, in Crysis Remastered, we see an average of 90 FPS, and in Metro Exodus, only 67 FPS were measured with DXR on. In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the RX 6800 XT offers 82 FPS on average at 1440p resolution. These tests were said to be done with Ryzen 9 5900X platform & 16GB DDR4-3200 memory at Ultra settings.

The Red team is also in works to bring the new AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution to effect, a NVIDIA DLSS alternative for AMD GPUs that artificially upscale the image using deep learning algorithms.
