Indian TWS hearable market goes through 656% growth in Q2 2020, Realme tops the chart

Off late, in 2020 the TWS earbuds market has just exploded in India and people are buying them more than ever mainly because of the fact that they are much handier and the prices of these earbuds have dropped drastically. If 2019 was more dominant to Bluetooth neckbands, 2020 has been the year of TWS earbuds in India.

Well, there were a lot of brands who have helped to increase this market and it was dominated mostly by smartphone brands who have brought a variety of them to lure customers into their network. The strategy to create an all-round ecosystem of products have helped the smartphone giants like Realme and Xiaomi a lot and it is evident from the data provided by Counterpoint Research.

The Indian TWS earbuds market did register a year-on-year growth of an astonishing 656% growth in Q2 2020 and was led by Realme, Xiaomi, and JBL, respectively. These brands have brought a lot of TWS earbuds like the Realme Buds Air and Buds Q from Realme while Xiaomi’s success was driven by the likes of Redmi Earbuds S and Mi True Wireless 2. JBL, on the other hand, secured the third position with its best-selling C100TWS earbuds.

If the top 5 brands are to be considered for Q2 2020 then they are pTron with a 6% market share followed by boAt with 10% while JBL getting 15% and Xiaomi securing 20% and, Realme leading the chart with almost 22% market share.

“Entry of players like Xiaomi and Oppo, and launch of more affordable devices pushed the average selling price (ASP) to the lower side, making it possible to reach a larger section of the population,” said Shilpi Jain, Research Analyst, on the market growth.

“Though the competition has intensified, this segment holds immense growth potential as it still represents just 10% of the hearables segment in India,” further said, Jain.

So this TWS hearable market is likely to grow even more as time progresses and we shall see more competition in the market helping consumers to get better products at cheaper products over time.

IPL 2020: Teams react to the IPL schedule

The 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) is scheduled to start from 19th September in UAE. BCCI decided to host this year’s IPL outside of India due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

All the IPL teams reached UAE last month and has been conducting training sessions. The final will be held on 10th November.

BCCI has now released the official schedule of Dream 11 IPL 2020. The tournament will begin with a blockbuster clash between defending champions Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings on Saturday, 19th September in Abu Dhabi.

In India, the TV market was previously dominated by the electronics giant like Samsung, LG and Sony who occupied most of the market share then but things have changed drastically in last couple of years. With internet and IoT at our fingertips, every device has become smarter and TV has no exception as well.

Smart TVs were a myth a few years back and now India loves them more than ever, obviously there are few key players in that segment, and the Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi holding the lead since 2018. The Smart TV market have rised steadily and as Manu Kumar Jain, MD of Xiaomi India rightfully pointed out, the market in 2018 was only 15% for Smart TVs and has jumped to 50% in 2020, but Xiaomi continues to lead in terms of market share.

As Economic Times point out in their article Smart TVs are dominating the market simply because of the convinience that they offer, you can use them using you internet or just plugin a set top box to watch your traditional cable TV channels. A Smart TV nowadays opens a plethora of content that was unimaginable few years ago, because of the advent of a wide range of OTT platforms in India.

Well, at first Smart TVs weren’t cheap and the major players like LG, Samsung, Sony and others predominantly brought those into market with their own UI and Android TVs were out of reach for its astronomically high prices. Things changed as major smartphone manufacturers stepped into the TV segment and Xiaomi, who still continues to be the best selling smartphone brand started making Smart TVs at low cost.

Top Budget TVs Under Rs.15000 in India 2018

This was followed by a number of brands like Kodak, Vu, Onida, Blaupunkt, and the list just continues, now apart from the traditional TV makers, almost all smartphone company has its own Smart TV lineup. It easier for a smartphone company to penetrate into the market because via a Smart TV one can make an ecosystem of its own AIoT products and Xiaomi is blatantly following this strategy.

Xiaomi’s low-cost Android Smart TVs to high-end 4K ones, it has got to offer something for every budget which is the key success of the company who has excelled both in online and offline presence recently. This market is ever-growing and Xiaomi continues to be the pioneer of it, and in the upcoming sales in Diwali, Xiaomi could pounce into the opportunity as almost 90% TVs could be Smart TVs.

In what has been the bargain of the summer so far, Manchester United have signed one of the best young midfielders in Europe, Donny Van de Beek for £39 million. Compare that figure with the amount of money splashed around by clubs these days, and it is an absolute steal, given the quality of the player United is getting.

Van de Beek’s game

Donny Van de Beek is a natural number 10, to put it simply. However, he does like to roam around the right flank as well. While most number 10s are associated with creating chances on a regular basis, Van De Beek does not quite fit that bill. He likes to receive the ball in the opposition box and take his chances from a central position.

But that is not to say he doesn’t create chances. It’s a matter of quality over quantity when it comes to chances created by Van de Beek. He does cross from the edge of the penalty box into the six-yard box but often depends on other players to feed him the line breaking passes. His natural tendency is to be in the right place at the right time, to sum it up in one good line.

Van de Beek

He can play as a number 6 but is traditionally an attack-minded player. He has been deployed all across a front three, and his natural midfield setting during his time at Ajax. He engages in defensive tackles a lot, which is something that will set him apart from the other options in midfield at the Old Trafford.

How he fits in the United midfield

If he were to compete for the number 10 role, he would certainly fall behind Bruno Fernandes. However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has talked about the idea of playing a midfield three of Pogba, Fernandes and their new boy. Van de Beek would have to focus on the defensive aspect of his game a lot if he were to fit in the line-up proposed by his new manager.

The reason being an overwhelming amount of playmakers, with little to no defensive cover to shield the backline.

This is why Ole should start either one of McTominay, Fred, or Matic to provide some defensive cover alongside a midfield of either two of their three quality options in creative midfield.

Best upcoming Games with Ray Tracing ON in 2020

NVIDIA has announced that several popular games will be rolling out upcoming editions with their RTX application feature – or ray tracing in common parlance – enabled on these. It comes just a few days after NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang unveiled a set of power-packed GeForce RTX 30 Series GPUs, with him also calling the product’s launch as a “generational leap in the company’s history”. The very objective of ray tracing in computer graphics is to escalate the level of aspects such as reflections, shadows, and global illumination to give the user or player a closer to the real-life gaming experience.

Let us look at some of these games and what will be different with ray tracing introduced to them –

Fortnite 

The foundation of battle royale gaming and cultural phenomenon boasting over 350 million gamers, the popular game Fortnite by Epic Games is also going to get a taste of NVIDIA’s ray tracing RTX technology and DLSS plus Reflex specifics among many others. In a bid to prominently highlight this ray tracing feature, a special creative mode map named ‘RTX Treasure Run’ will be introduced.

Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War

Huang also confirmed that the first-person shooter warfare game would also be supportive of NVIDIA’s low-latency reflex technology and be available to play with ray tracing turned on from November 13. In the recently launched trailer, one could observe the deep shadows, particle effects and near realistic lighting which bounces off scenes on weapons, characters, and of course President Reagan himself.

Watch Dogs: Legion 

Ubisoft’s action-adventure game will also be powered by the latest ray tracing technology. What’s more, one can now get a free digital copy of the game and 1-year subscription access to GeForce NOW cloud gaming service – if any of the new GPUs or a PC containing the same is purchased. Much like the two aforementioned games, the characters and gameplay are also set to receive a boost.

Cyberpunk 2077 

The next-gen game is due to be released on November 19 across various gaming platforms and with so much of the gameplay revolving around settings such as neon lights, rain puddles, metal objects, and cars, ray tracing RTX looks to add the sheen. NVIDIA has also said that they are not only looking at items in perspective but instead incorporating the entire surroundings to apply the illumination.

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands

It was recently announced that the game would be getting the technology while the beta is already live with ray tracing enabling. At the moment, the settings and character reflections are only restricted to shadows but there could be further enhancements depending on the success of it. Nevertheless, the lighting model looks adept and it is set to make full use of the RTX setup.

  • In addition, the engine gen-2 can also detect the ambient environment using TV mics.
  • The volume is automatically adjusted in accordance with the surrounding environment.
  • TCL has invested billion-dollars for display panel production facility for its TV line-ups, to improve the quality of TV displays hosting the latest tech.
  • According to its developer expertise, the engine gen-2 is expected to upscale non-4K content.
  • Its AI Super Resolution will handle frame-by-frame upscaling.

The company is currently ranked number two is U.S among TV brands. It has recently joined hands with JOLED Inc. to develop inkjet-printed QD-OLED. TCL has not yet revealed many details about the working of the new chip, nor has it released any information on TVs that will host the new engine.

Although, it is expected to come with the launch of TCL’s Quantum Dot Pro 8 and 6 series in the future. Hopefully, the company will continue with its policy of making its high-end TVs more affordable, too.

Epic Games urged the Court to ask Apple to restore Fortnite on the App Store

Hope you are aware of the clash between Apple and Epic Games. It all started when Epic Games launched an update to its one of the successful games in the market, Fortnite that skips Apple and Google’s app store payment methods and this violates the app store owners’ policies. After that Apple not only removed Fortnite from the app store but wiped out Epic Game’s developer account also.

Now, Epic is urging the Court to ask Apple to restore Fortnite as well as the developer account. The filing regarding this is made in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.

In that filing, Epic mentioned Apple as a “monopolist” who is maintaining it by “explicitly prohibiting any competitive entry”. There is also written that due to the absence of any preliminary injunction, Epic Games is “likely to suffer irreparable harm”.

Epic, in the last filing on Friday, said, “This was a clear warning to any other developer that would dare challenge Apple’s monopolies: follow our rules or we will cut you off from a billion iOS consumers – challenge us and we will destroy your business,” 

Well, Apple is very much clear regarding Fortnite’s come back, it only needs to remove the direct payment feature, that’s all. But Epic refused to do that.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a tournament of extreme uncertainties.

Today we analyze an ‘underdog’ team who is more than capable to cause those upsets. We take a closer look at the Kings XI Punjab.

The team has managed to maintain a unique blend of retained and new players. If certain cards fall at the right place, the Kings can certainly book a ticket for the playoffs.

History

Just like Delhi Capitals, the Kings have had their best memories in the earlier seasons of the IPL. We reflect back on them as the franchise featured cricketers like Yuvraj Singh, Adam Gilchrist, Virendra Sehwag, Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, and many more.

The team had a really good start by claiming the third position in the first season of IPL. They were also the runners-up in 2014. However, they hit rock bottom after that, coming last in two consecutive seasons after that. They have been placed in the bottom ever since.

How will they perform in IPL 2020?

BATTING – Here’s where things get interesting. The Kings have mostly stuck with the basic structure of their team, despite struggling in the past few seasons. However, their already existing players have upgraded themselves into serious T20 players.

Captain KL Rahul stands at an impressive second position in the ICC T20 batsmen rankings. He has been a lone warrior for the side and a bit of assistance from others will go a long way. They have purchased one of their own, Glenn Maxwell back. Maxwell has regained form as well after taking some time off from the sport. He resurged to gain the number one spot in top T20 allrounders rankings. Nicholas Pooran has shown potential as well.

All eyes will always be on the big man, Chris Gayle, whether he’ll be able to show his power. They also have the tested Indian trio of Karun Nair, Mayank Aggarwal, and Mandeep Singh.

BOWLING – Just like batting, their fast bowlers seem to have been on the rise as well. Mohammed Shami, Sheldon Cottrell, and Chris Jordan have become great T20 bowlers who can deliver at death overs as well.

The spin bowling, however, looks to be an area of concern. The attack does have variety, but the only name stands out is of 20-year old Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Other options like Murugan Ashwin, Jagadeesha Sujhith, Krishnappa Gowtham, though have experience but will have to perform consistently.

The major problem for Kings is to accommodate their foreign resources to the mandatory limit of four. Chris Gayle, Chris Jordan, Mujeeb Ur Rehman, and Glenn Maxwell seem to be the potential front runners. That will lead to KL Rahul wicket keeping. If other counterparts assist Rahul, the Kings may have a decent chance to break into the playoffs.

IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore looking to start a new football team

The 13th edition of IPL is just 13 days away to start in UAE. All the teams have already arrived in the UAE and have started their training sessions.

On Sunday, IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore posted a photo from their training session on Twitter. Virat Kohli was seen playing football with his teammates.

RCB posted the photo with a caption: “We heard Messi was looking for some new teammates.”. RCB twitter handle took a dig at Lionel Messi.

It appears in the picture that Kohli and co are enjoying playing football in their training session and they could have easily turned into football players, making RCB, a football team.

The IPL schedule has been released on Sunday. RCB will start their Dream 11 IPL 2020 campaign on 21st September against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Dubai.

Virat Kohli and co would definitely hope to remove their ‘chokers’ tag and put forward a strong case to win the 13th edition of IPL.
