Real Madrid reportedly accepted a bid around €50 million for their centre-back, and he is expected to fly to England this week to complete the move. Personal terms have been agreed between the player and United for a long time. He has been offered a contract until 2025 with the option to extend for another year, and will be paid a sum around £200,000 per week.

The delay in the announcement is due to the quarantine rules that Varane will have to follow in England. Varane informed the club that he wanted a change of pace, and refused to negotiate a new deal with a year remaining on his current contract which forced Madrid to let him go.

Madrid have lost both their starting centre-backs now that Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane are out the exit door. Manchester United, on the other hand, have laid down their intentions of challenging for the title with the acquisition of Jadon Sancho, and now, Varane.
