10. Brad Friedel (Blackburn Rovers, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Liverpool) – 132 clean sheets 

Brad Friedel starts off the lineup of goalkeepers who have achieved the highest number of clean sheets in the Premier League. The American player joined the league during the 1997/98 season and subsequently switched from Liverpool to Blackburn, where he became the preferred goalkeeper. Throughout his career, Friedel managed to maintain 77 clean sheets in 290 matches, representing both Aston Villa and Spurs before ultimately retiring.

9. Tim Howard (Manchester United, Everton)- 132 clean sheets 

Howard was replaced by Edwin van der Sar at Manchester United. And this restricted him to 45 appearances in four years at the club. He moved to Everton and became one of the best goalkeepers in their history, keeping 116 clean sheets for the Toffees in 329 appearances. 

8. Edwin van der Sar (Manchester United, Fulham)- 132 clean sheets 

The United legend kept only 90 clean sheets for them. He started out in England with Fulham, for whom he kept 42 clean sheets, before establishing himself as an icon at Old Trafford, and entering the list of the goalkeepers with the most clean sheets of all-time.

7. Pepe Reina (Liverpool, Aston Villa)- 136 clean sheets

With a clean sheet percentage of 45.79%, Pepe Reina leads this stat among all goalkeepers who have kept over 100 clean sheets in the Premier League. The Spaniard kept 134 clean sheets for Liverpool between 2005 and 2014, before eventually returning to England with Aston Villa six years later. 

6. Nigel Martyn (Leeds United, Everton, Crystal Palace)- 137 clean sheets 

Nigel Martyn made over 200 appearances for Leeds United and Crystal Palace, where he had the most clean sheets during his career. He had his best spell with the Yorkshire club, and went on to make 86 appearances for Everton before calling it a day. 

5. David Seaman (Arsenal, Manchester City)- 141 clean sheets 

David Seaman maintained a clean sheet percentage of over 40% during his career, and is a renowned Arsenal legend. He made 403 appearances for the Gunners before a brief stint at Manchester City.

Having won the Premier League Golden Glove award for only the second time in his career, after his 17 clean sheets in 2022/23, David De Gea has climbed up to fourth in the all-time charts. Should he remain the first-choice next season as well, he could enter the top three.

3. Mark Schwarzer (Middlesbrough, Fulham, Chelsea, Leicester City) – 151 clean sheets 

Mark Schwarzer is one of the rare Australians to have made a name for himself in the Premier League. The goalkeeper made 366 appearances for Middlesbrough and kept 92 clean sheets. He went on to feature over 500 times in the top flight, capping off a remarkable spell in England. 

2. David James (Liverpool, Portsmouth, Aston Villa, Manchester City, West Ham United) – 169 clean sheets 

David James has an impressive record in the Premier League, having made more than 500 appearances and achieving 169 clean sheets throughout his 18-year career. His stint in England came to an end in 2010, when he played for Portsmouth. His career is noted for his remarkable ability to keep the goal clean, placing him among the top performers in terms of clean sheets in the history of the Premier League.

The Chelsea legend is the only goalkeeper in Premier League history to have kept over 200 clean sheets. He eventually moved on to join Arsenal from West London, before returning to the Blues as a technical director. And to this day, holds the record for the most clean sheets in Premier League history.
