In the previous five seasons, Walt Disney has possessed the TV and digital rights to IPL. However, Disney has only acquired the broadcast TV rights, agreeing to pay a hefty amount of $3.01 billion for them. RIL’s growing influence in both IPL and Warner content strengthens their ability to reshape the Indian broadcasting industry. This shift favors streaming and weakens Disney’s position in a country with the highest population.

JioCinema, which has aggregated content from the suppliers containing AltBalaji, Eros Now, Paramount, Shemaroo Entertainment, and Viacom18, currently operates as an ad-supported operation. It is tipped to start charging subscription fees later this year.
