Why Samsung Galaxy M10 & M20 will prove to be game changing for Samsung?

Samsung continues it’s legacy but have they been hearing it’s customers?

Samsung, the Electronics giant has been criticized by a lot of us and other consumers for their shabby budget smartphone department. Making branded and costly smartphones have been their trademark since years and for this, in recent years they have continuously lost their market value in India.

Brands like Realme, Xiaomi, ASUS, OPPO, VIVO and others have eventually captured the market, which has downgraded the legacy of Samsung. Though they have been making some awesome high end devices and been constantly bringing new technology to smartphone but in this budget era, they have significantly lost its trust in Indian youth.

Why Samsung had to make the Galaxy M10 and M20?

Finally they have heard it’s users and brought the new Samsung Galaxy M10 and M20, which are both part of the new “Millennial series”. According to Samsung with this series, they are targeting the youth and yes obviously to all those people who still trust on this humongous brand.

Much like what Realme did with their budget segment smart phones, Samsung has cleverly made its smart phones. They look damn impressive with huge display, they are well powered devices with awesome camera and yes with an insane battery.

Samsung wants it’s users to forget it’s pricey smart phones and eventually go for the new “Millennial series” smart phones that are way better in every aspect and yes it is very much affordable.

The Samsung Galaxy M10

The Electronic giant could never deliver an outstanding smartphone in the sub 10k budget segment. Although there was the J-series, they failed to attract the modern youth who need everything including

a crisp display,
a powerful processor to play games,
good dual camera setup,
an engrossing front camera,
smooth UI and obviously a good battery life.

Focussing on each of this point, Samsung made the whole of the Millennial series. Also, they made the starting contender of this series under Rs.10k. Named the Galaxy M10, this smartphone will likely change the game in the smartphone market and eventually challenge all its competitors.

The Galaxy M10 bears a large 6.22-inch display with the trendy teardrop notch that Samsung names as Infinity-V display. The smartphone has a fair enough 720 x 1520 resolution with 81.6 % screen to body ratio.

Surprisingly it has the Widevine L1 certification for watching HD content on Amazon Prime or Netflix.

The Galaxy M10 has been powered by the Samsung Exynos 7872 that is a hexa-core 14nm SoC with 4 x 1.6 GHz Cortex-A53 cores and 2 x 2.0 GHz Cortex-A73 cores. For GPU, the chipset has the Mali-G71 MP1.

So, people can also play games on this device effortlessly. This processor delivers performance somewhat like the Snapdragon 450.

Talking about the cameras, Samsung done a impressive job by retaining the same dual camera setup that’s in the Galaxy M20. It features a 13MP f/1.9 primary sensor with a 5MP f/2.2 ultra wide sensor. This helps you take great low-light shots and also capture images in wide angle.

The camera comes in with variety of features including Portrait Mode, the Beauty mode, the Pro mode and much more. For the front we have the 5MP f/2.0 selfie camera for capturing great selfies.

The Galaxy M10 is juiced by a 3400 mAh Battery, which is enough for a day to last. The device runs Android 8.1 Oreo, with the Samsung Experience UI.

Samsung has also implemented both the headphone jack and USB Type-C port, which means faster charging and faster data transfers. For secure unlocking, the Galaxy M10 also has the facial unlock system on it.

The Samsung Galaxy M20

This smartphone is perfectly made to blend with the likes of the modern Indian youth. The youth has always been more demanding over the time, so satisfying their demands has to be the prime importance to the handset makers.

The youth likes these days not only focus more on the processor of the smartphone but also on their power efficiency, battery consumption and whether it supports fast charge or not. So, in the Galaxy M20, Samsung has implemented all of them to make it a complete package.

The Galaxy M20 has the same 6.22-inch screen size with Asahi Dragon Trail Pro glass. It comes with higher 1080 x 2340 resolution, helping you to watch and stream high-quality movies.

Definitely, it does not have the Samsung’s signature AMOLED display but has the Widevine L1 certification for watching HD content on Amazon Prime or Netflix.

Overall the looks of the smartphone aren’t that great especially if compared with Honor 9N or ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M2 as it misses the glossy plastic back design. Also, there’s the fingerprint scanner on the back of the smartphone but placed awkwardly in a higher position.

For gamers, Samsung has brought the new Exynos 7904 octa-core SoC that delivers impressive performance and stands somewhere between Snapdragon 636 and Snapdragon 660, which is quite good enough.

At the front, we have the 8MP f/2.0 selfie camera with lots of AI features and various modes. Coming to the battery, the Galaxy M20 packs in a massive 5,000 mAh battery.

Coming to cameras, like its brother it has the same great dual rear camera setup. The Galaxy M20 features the same 13MP f/1.9 primary sensor with a 5MP f/2.2 ultra wide sensor with a variety of features including Portrait Mode, the Beauty mode, the Pro mode and much more. Sadly, it lacks the 4K video recording support.

Also to charge up this huge battery, Samsung has implemented Fast Charge support that does come in with a 15W fast charger in the box. This time Samsung has implemented both the headphone jack and USB Type-C port, which means faster charging and faster data transfers.

The device runs Android 8.1 Oreo, with the Samsung Experience UI. For better sound, the smartphone comes in with a Dolby ATMOS 360 degree surround sound.

Price & Availability

The Galaxy M10 has a starting price at Rs 7,990 for the base variant with 2 GB RAM & 16 GB internal storage. On the other hand, the other variant with 3 GB RAM & 32 GB internal storage will be available at Rs 8,990.

The Galaxy M20 has a starting price at Rs 10,990 for the base variant with 3 GB RAM & 32 GB internal storage. On the other hand, the higher variant with 4 GB RAM & 64 GB internal storage will be available at Rs 12,990.

Both the Galaxy M10 and M20 will be available in two colour variants: Ocean Blue and Charcoal Black. The sale for both these smartphones will start from 12 PM on 5th February.

The Galaxy M10 will directly go head to head with the Redmi 6, Realme 2, Realme C1 2019, ASUS Zenfone Max M2 and others. On the other hand, its brother Galaxy M20 will compete with Realme U1, Redmi Note 6 Pro, Honor 9N, ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M2 and Realme 2 Pro.

Well, honestly this competition in the budget segment is getting much more intense with days, giving customers a lot more variety to choose their dream smartphone.

Samsung who can manufacture any and everything in the tech world should have taken this step much earlier to deliver smartphones at affordable price points, but nevertheless, in 2019 they have finally made it happen with the Galaxy M series.

Verdict

Overall at their own price perspective, the Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20 are both solid smartphones with all the latest features and packs in

great cameras,
impressive battery life,
a huge and crisp display,
good enough processor,
affordable pricing.

It’s own new UI is promising yet it needs to get further customized and Samsung should send regular updates for its users and bring the latest Android P to this device as well.

Over the time, in future devices they should also make the back of the smartphones a bit more stylish for users to flaunt with.

With Galaxy M10 and M20, Samsung is back into the aggresive smartphone department which is reigned mostly by Xiaomi, OPPO, Realme, ASUS and VIVO. They have understood that pricing is very effective these days.

Customers have become smarter so, they need to provide the best specs at lowest price, cutting down the profit on each of their device. Bringing both the device to an online store like Amazon will help lot more people to gain access to these devices across India.

Another thing to note is that Samsung has taken the Indian smartphone market as its top priority as they have launched the Galaxy M series firstly in India.

To fight against the likes of Chinese brands, Samsung, one of the most trusted brands of all time, had to take a bold move sooner or later.

Smriti Mandhana scored her eighth ODI fifty in last 10 innings to comfortably take India past the small 162 run target against New Zealand in the second ODI.

Smriti Mandhana is in top form in the series as she scored a century in the 1st odi followed by 90 run in the 2nd odi.
Jhulan Goswami (3/23) steered the side to a series-clinching eight-wicket triumph. Mandhana has now scored fifties in eight of her 10 previous ODI innings – with 105 runs in the opening ODI.

India won the toss and elected to field. India produced an excellent effort to dismiss New Zealand for just 161 runs in 44.2 overs. Jhulan Soswami took 3 wickets. Ekta, Deepti and Poonam took 2 wickets each.

Smriti Mandhana became the player of the match.

Smriti Mandhana(90) and skipper Mithali Raj (63 not out) put up a 151-run unbroken third-wicket stand to guide the team to a comfortable win. The duo resurrected the chase from 15/2 after the early loss of opener Jemimah Rodrigues (0) and Deepti Sharma (8).

Mithali Raj completed the run chase in style with a six as India reached to 166 for 2 in 35.2 overs. “I am happy with the way the team is shaping up. I have always enjoyed batting in challenging conditions. It wasn’t easy, it required patience here. Smriti is in good form and somebody had to give her support,” Raj said.

India have now taken an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series, which is part of the ICC Women’s Championship series. India had beaten New Zealand in the first one-dayer by nine wickets at the same venue. The third and final match of the series is scheduled to be held in Hamilton on February 1.

New Zealand captain Amy Satterthwaite top-scored with 71 runs off 87 balls before she became Yadav’s victim in the 34th over. “Frustrated to be honest, not putting enough runs on the board. Just comes down to that really,” she said after the match.

India registered a comfortable victory against New Zealand in the third ODI in Mount Maunganui on Monday as the visitors won the encounter by seven wickets to take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series.

While the bowlers did much of the damage to restrict the Kiwis to 243 in 49 overs, Mohammed Shami took 3 wickets, Rohit Sharma(62) and skipper Virat Kohli (60) hit half-centuries to complete the chase with ease.

Rohit Sharma slammed his 39th half-century. Rohit smashed three boundaries and two sixes during his stay at the crease before being stumped off Mitchell Santner’s bowling.

Virat Kohli brought up his 49th ODI half-century, also hit six fours and a maximum before Henry Nicholls took a brilliant catch to dismiss him off Trent Boult.

From thereon Dinesh Karthik (38 of a run-a-ball) and Ambati Rayudu (40 off 42 balls) guided India over the finishing line with an unbroken 77-run stand for the fourth wicket.

It is the 1st time in six years MS Dhoni missed a match due to injury. He was ruled out due to hamstring injury. His absence was felt behind the stumps as Dinesh Karthik was not able to help the bowlers as Dhoni used to. India also lost their review in his absence.

After 10 years India is winning a series in New Zealand. India last won in 2009 under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. In 2014 series India was white-washed bythem.

Mohammed Shami was the most economic bowler. He bowled 9 overs at an economy of 4.6 and took 3 wickets. Bhuvneshwar, Chahal, Hardik took 2 wickets each.

Alvaro Morata has completed his medical for Atletico Madrid and would sign very soon.

Morata is expected to complete an initial 18-month loan move from Chelsea to Atletico Madrid, who will have an option to buy.

The 26-year-old signed a five-year contract when he joined Chelsea from Real Madrid for a then club record £60m fee in July 2017. Morata has made 47 Premier League appearances for the Blues, scoring 16 times. His last start was against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup on 5 January.

His imminent departure follows the arrival of Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain on loan to Chelsea. And Atletico Madrid have allowed Portugal winger Gelson Martins to join Ligue 1 side Monaco on loan until the end of the season.

Speaking to reporters at the airport, Morata said: “I’m happy to be in Madrid, I’ve been waiting for many days. I’m super happy and I want everything to be finalised, to start and train with my colleagues.
The people who have always been with me know how I feel today, how the last days have been. It’s normal for people to have their thoughts [about playing for Atletico after Real Madrid], I know what I can do.
I started playing at Atletico. People who know where I come from, they know my history and what this means to me. The past is the past, I am proud of that.”

Morata’s Real Madrid teammate Carvajal said that he has no hard feelings for Morata. Morata emerged from Real Madrid’s youth system and won two Champions League titles as well as a pair of LaLiga trophies among others.

Carvajal told reporters after Sunday’s 4-2 win against Espanyol : “They are decisions of each player. I do not judge him. If he is happy at Atletico, I am happy for him. He is my friend and I wish him the best.
I’m happy for him because in England he did not have many opportunities. We just hope he does not have a good game against us [On February 9].”

Atletico Madrid are currently second in the La Liga table and Morata could be handed his debut against Real Betis on 3rd February.

Now to regain the budget end market NVIDIA wants to bring 3 new graphics cards under the hood of GTX 16 series. Ranging from GTX 1650 to GTX 1660 Ti, and obviously the GTX 1660.

Based on the leaks and rumors the specs of these upcoming graphics cards have completely been revealed. So, here are the specs of the upcoming NVIDIA GTX 16 series GPUs:

GTX 1650, 1660 & 1660 Ti

The top-end GTX 1660 Ti will feature TU116 graphics processor, will be based on 12nm architecture and will pack 1536 CUDA cores. The graphics card will have 6GB of faster GDDR6 memory and 192-bit of memory bus width. The GeForce GTX 1660 Ti is to become NVIDIA’s first Turing-based card under GTX brand.

Undoubtedly this will be the rightful successor to the GTX 1060 series but will be much slower than the RTX 2060. The graphics card will solely aim to deliver good graphics performance without Ray Tracing, which does not have many games to support it till now.

The 1660 Ti is set to hit the market from February 15th onwards with a price tag of $279.

Coming to the GTX 1660, this GPU will feature a lesser number of CUDA cores i.e. 1280 CUDA cores. For the memory, it is likely to have the same old GDDR5 memory with options of 3GB and 6GB of VRAM.

The GTX 1660 will likely to feature the same 192-bit of memory bus width like its brother.

It will also feature TU116 graphics processor, will be based on 12nm architecture. The GTX 1660 GPU will likely launch at early March 2019 with a price tag of $229.

Now talking of the lowest one in this series – the GTX 1650 has no solid details regarding its features but will have a pricing of about $179 and is likely set to available from late March 2019.

Overall it is clear that with the 3 new fresh GPUs, NVIDIA is striking finally at the budget segment of graphics cards. This will in turn challenge AMD’s great budget end RX 560, RX 570 and RX 580 graphics cards.

Well apart from the never-ending fight between NVIDIA and AMD, it’s the consumers and gamers who are ultimately getting the benefit, who will now get variety of graphics card options too in the budget segment.

Monaco have suspened their manager Thierry Henry after just 20 games in charge.

Henry was appointed as the mnager in October 2018 after the departure of his predecessor, Leonardo Jardim – who now looks set to make a shock return to the club. Leonardo Jardim still lives in Monaco and sees the players in the street when he goes to the bakery. He’s the favourite to replace Henry. He had amazing results, winning the league in 2017, before this season when things didn’t go well for the team.

The short statement from the club read: “AS Monaco announces that it has decided to suspend its duties as coach of the first team Thierry Henry from this day and waiting for a final decision.
Franck Passi will train the professional group this Friday.”

The 2017 French champions are in the relegation zone. Henry, who has brought in former team-mate Cesc Fabregas in a bid to avoid trouble, has managed just five wins in all competitions in his three months in charge of the Ligue 1 team. He has been unable to lift the side out of the Ligue 1 relegation zone and they currently sit 19th in the league table, two points from safety.
Henry is yet to win a home league game, with their last match at the Stade Louis II ending in an embarrassing 3-1 French Cup defeat to Ligue 2 side Metz.

Henry had apologised for using foul language to insult Strasbourg defender Kenny Lala during his side’s 5-1 defeat on Saturday.

Henry then threatened on Thursday to leave out numerous first-team players from Monaco’s weekend clash with Dijon, claiming he would only pick players up for the relegation fight.
Henry said in his news conference on Thursday. : “You have to see. There were not too many people in training yesterday. We’ll see today. It’s important to see the reaction at Dijon. We are in a critical situation – unfortunately, that has not changed.
We tightened up the group. At some point, you need guys who want to save the club, who don’t think about themselves. We’re sorting it out. We’re going to war.”
When asked which players would be left out, Henry replied: “You’re going to see the team. There are too many names.”

Two wins in 12 games in the league is clearly not good enough. Henry insulted a Strasbourg player and there were arguments with some of the media.
And maybe the last straw was deciding to drop some of his first-team players into the reserves without mentioning it to the hierarchy at the club and that cost him his job eventually. That wasn’t the way the club wanted him to behave. All that put together meant he would no longer be the manager.

Henry’s assistant Franck Passi – who had spells as caretaker boss of Marseille and Lille – will take training on Friday ahead of the home league match against Toulouse on Saturday February 2.
