BCCI finally accepts CEO Rahul Johri’s resignation

0

BCCI CEO Rahul Johri had submitted his resignation a long time ago around 27th December last year. It has been finally accepted on Thursday.

A BCCI official told PTI on the condition of anonymity: “Rahul Johri’s resignation has been accepted. He was earlier given an extension till 30th April but this time it has been accepted.”

The Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) gave BCCI President Sourav Ganguly the permission to run the board with his members. Rahul Johri was asked to continue as CEO until his term expires in 2021.

The strange thing is that Johri wanted to resign for many months but it was not accepted. Now, suddenly he has been asked to leave via email.

It seems the final nail in the coffin was hammered by the leak of the confidential tender information of Indian cricket team’s kit partner to the media. The tender was supposed to come out this week but the tender’s base price along with other details was leaked to the media.

According to a report by IANS, a BCCI official said: “He has been informed of the decision by email. He had resigned earlier and was asked to continue in the interim. However, the leak of confidential financial information of a bid that was being prepared accelerated the decision. Highest levels of confidentiality are expected when any bid takes place in an organisation.”

“This was considered to be scandalous and had the potential to compromise the bid. Financial matters if you cannot keep confidential, then it is a serious lapse that cannot be excused, especially with the new BCCI.”

Another official told IANS: “Maybe he was a little overconfident. He was able to survive despite his earlier conduct and there was an enquiry into allegations of sexual harassment against him. The reports of which were not even made available to the complainants which was found to be very surprising. Yet, he was asked to undergo gender sensitisation.”

“We felt that to have a CEO who has undergone this punishment was not appropriate for a role which requires you to give a fillip to women”s cricket. And as CEO he had to meet market leaders. He is certainly not the man who is capable of leading India towards the resumption of cricket. The female cricketers and women working in BCCI must be feeling relieved.”

Former CoA member Diana Edulji said that justice has finally prevailed. She told IANS. “Women cricketers and staff will heave a sigh of relief and after all this indiscipline during the nomination of coaches and all, he was rewarded with an increment which I was against. Better later than never. Justice has been done.”

It looks like Johri had fallen out of favour as the BCCI CEO and it was good for everyone to have him leave his post.

Google partners with Ubuntu to bring Flutter apps to Linux

0

Since the inception of Android, Google has always supported app development with its open-source Android Studio and also developed Flutter, more recently. Flutter is an application framework for the development of cross-platform applications that are compatible with Android, iOS, and macOS too.

Flutter is being used by many developers these days because of its simplicity and the ease of coding only once to support on all platforms. There are so many applications developed using this framework but now, Google is now partnering with Ubuntu Linux aiming to bring Flutter apps to Linux OS. As we know Linux is not an application rich platform but if Flutter apps come to Linux then we may have a richer Linux experience.

Google partners with Ubuntu to bring Flutter apps to Linux

Google in a blog post said, “Today we are happy to jointly announce the availability of the Linux alpha for Flutter alongside Canonical, the publisher of Ubuntu, the world’s most popular desktop Linux distribution,”. It also described, “Canonical is making a significant investment in Flutter, by dedicating a team of developers to work alongside Google’s developers to bring the best Flutter experience to the majority of Linux distributions.”

Canonical also takes care of the Snap Store which is a store that contains many Linux based applications that are using Snap package format. Snap packages are containerized and generally easier to distribute than traditional Linux-based software, and Snap support will be a priority for Flutter on Linux, however, the Snap format won’t be a requirement for Flutter apps.

Google partners with Ubuntu to bring Flutter apps to Linux

Obviously, this will be a revolutionary step, to bring cross-platform support to Linux, as we know Linux architecture is different from iOS and Android but with Flutter anything is possible. So, Google and Canonical are working together on this so that Flutter applications won’t look like somehow managed smartphone apps built into desktop.

Currently, these Flutter applications for Linux is in alpha state and these applications can use menu bars, mouse and keyboard input, standard system dialogs, and resizable top-level windows.

Flutter applications for both Linux and macOS support are in an alpha stage, but this seems promising, because if they are successful in those two desktop platforms, it won’t be long when devs can use Flutter to develop apps for Windows as well, bringing support for the total ecosystem for both smartphone and desktops be it any OS concerned.

Lisa Su confirms Zen 3 based Ryzen CPUs coming in 2020 as promised

0

There has been a lot of rumours about the availability of the upcoming Zen 3 based processors including Ryzen 4000 CPUs and EPYC Milan server processors. Obviously, launching the Ryzen 3000XT processors was a move that got both negative and positive opinions, negative being AMD will not be able to deliver Ryzen 4000 CPUs that’s why they have substituted with these Matisse refresh processors.

On the other hand, positive views being this is a smart move to extend its portfolio, offering the XT processors for those who need higher clock speed and bringing down the prices of its predecessors. However, the recent tweet in which AMD CEO Lisa Su clearly tells how excited AMD is to announce the availability of their new Ryzen 3000XT CPUs on July 7, exactly the day a year ago when it all started with Ryzen 3000 & Radeon RX 5000 series GPUs.

The thing she also pointed out that the Zen 3 CPUs are looking great in the lab and AMD will be certainly launching them this year, which totally demolishes those previous rumours.

Obviously, the COVID-19 has affected every sector out there, so a mere delay in release of the next-gen Ryzen 4000 processors is still bearable. These Vermeer CPUs will be manufactured on TSMC’s 7nm+ EUV process which will be a big step up from current generation Zen 2 processors with rumours slated to say that these upcoming CPUs will deliver 15% IPC uplift than last gen.

Also, there a lot of rumours surrounding the upcoming Ryzen 4000 Renoir APUs based Zen 2 architecture, most likely, AMD will be launching both of them soon but the Renoir APUs should be available faster than the Vermeer ones. Only time will tell that, but if we do get the info we will be updating you all, but in 2020 more exciting stuff is coming from AMD.
