Dell launches the new Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 convertible laptop at the Computex 2019 and updates the XPS 15 hardware
At the Computex 2019 which is ongoing at Taiwan, Dell has launched their brand new XPS lineup i.e. the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 convertible laptop and also updated the XPS 15 hardware.

This new stunning laptop has got some serious updates and improvement in the functionality.
The new XPS 13 2-in-1 comes with an all-new redesigned display with a 16:10 aspect ratio and an edge-to-edge display which according to Dell, has a 7% larger viewing area than before.
The stunning screen-to-body-ratio is enhanced with the 13.3-inch FullHD+ and a UHD+ display options. Users can even enjoy HDR content on the laptop due to the HDR400 certification and Dolby Vision on the UHD+ panel.

The XPS 13 2-in-1 laptop is Dellโs first laptop to feature the latest 10th-gen Core processors codenamed Ice Lake processors based om 10nm process from Intel. Dell even claims the laptop offers up to 2.5 times better performance.
Dell has even shifted the problematic placement of the webcam from the bottom bezel to the top. The XPS 13 2-in-1 convertible laptop will be available from July 2019, for a starting price tag of $999.99 US.
Dell XPS 15 gets hardware upgrade
Dell’s premium end ultraportable XPS 15 lineup gets a much-needed hardware upgrade in 2019. These new laptops now come with 9th-gen processors and can be configured up to an 8 core i9 processor.
The new Dell XPS 15 comes with a 4K UHD display accompanied by Dellโs InfinityEdge design that gives you more screen out of the display front. The OLED panel offer highlights up to 40 times brighter, and blacks up to 10 times darker.
On the graphics front, you get up to NIVIDA GeForce GTX 1650 GPU. Also, it is coupled with up to 64GB of RAM, and up to 2TB PCIe SSD.
In terms of connectivity, you get the new Killer AX1650 network adapter specifically built on Intelโs WiFi 6 chipset. The new 802.11ax WiFi standards on this laptop improve signal interceptions even at crowded places.
Like its brother, in this one too, the problematic placement of the webcam has been resolved by moving it to the top bezel. The upgraded Dell XPS 15 will be available in next few weeks for a starting price tag of $999.99.
Dell’s proprietory gaming laptop series abbreviated as the Alienware series of laptops has just got updated at the Computex 2019. These are thin and portable gaming laptops that do not compromise on the performance front.
Alienware m17
The Alienware m17 packs in a 17-inch FHD display with options of both 60Hz and 144Hz refresh rates. Also, there’s the Tobii Eye Tracking technology that allows users to interact with the laptop by just using their eyes.
Under the hood, you get a 9th-gen Intel processor that can be configured up to an Intel Core i9-9980HK CPU. Also, it is coupled with 16GB of RAM, and up to 4TB PCIe SSD.
On the graphics front, you get a lot of options, you can configure your laptop’s graphics up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q GPU which helps you game to the fullest.
Alienware m15
The Alienware m15 is a lot more scalable and customizable as it provides you with 3 types of display options – including 1080p at 60Hz, 1080p at 240Hz, OLED UHD at 60Hz. It has got a 15.6-inch standard laptop screen and it also comes with Tobii Eye Tracking support.
The hardware here is quite similar to its brother, featuring the 9th-gen Intel processors, which can be configured up to the Core i9-9980HK. This can be paired with 16GB RAM, and up to 4TB of PCIe SSD.

Also for the graphics, the GPU can be configured to the best RTX 2080 Max-Q GPU. The Max-Q design helps fit such powerful graphics on to thin and light laptops.
Both the Alienware m15 and m17 will hit the shelves of the US market from June 11 with a starting price tag of $1,499.

Lenovo introduces the world’s first 5G ready laptop powered by the latest 7nm Snapdragon 8cx SoC by Qualcomm

Qualcomm promised to bring the 8cx chip powered laptops by the Q3 of 2019 and finally at Computex 2019, Qualcomm and Lenovo announced their joint ‘Project Limitless’ and their first baby, the worldโs first 5G-enabled laptop.
The 5G connectivity is still in its development and testing phase in many countries but we expect it to roll out by 2020 and come to the forefront by 2021.
So, developing and eventually announcing a future-centric laptop is a great effort by both Qualcomm and Lenovo.
This notebook is powered by the Snapdragon 8cx chip that has been designed on 7nm process. Qualcomm tagged the chip to be theย โmost extreme Snapdragon everโ and that’s really true.
It bears Qualcommโs latest custom designed Kryo 495 CPU cores and Adreno 680 GPU. This chip also dares to compete with its Intel competitors and its graphical performance to makes it unique.
Lenovo, a leader in PCs, and Qualcomm, a leader in 5G, are joining forces to create the first announced 5G PC around the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx 5G compute platform. As the world’s first 7nm platform purpose-built for PCs, it offers extreme performance, battery life, as well as 4G LTE and 5G connectivity.

Intel launches its best ever gaming CPU – the Core i9-9900KS that allows overclocking all its 8 cores to 5GHz boost frequency
At the Computex 2019, apart from launching the new 10th generation Ice Lake CPUs based on 10nm process, Intel expanded its desktop portfolio by adding a new member to its family – the 9th generation Core i9-9900KS.
Intel previously showcased a 28-core Xeon processor, during its keynote last year, that can run all of its cores at 5 GHz. Now, with the Intel Core i9-9900KS, this is now achievable which in itself is a landmark to achieve for a desktop CPU.
The CPU promises to deliver the same boost frequency in both single core performance as well as multi-core workloads which was lacking on the previous best i9-9900K.
The Core i9-9900KS is a 8 core & 16 threads processor with a base frequency of 4.0 GHz. It has a RAM frequency support of 2666MHz and packs in the same UHD 630 iGPU seen on its brothers.

The Core i9-9900KS can also be used on the same motherboards as the Core i9-9900K used to fit in with just a firmware update.
The TDP and the pricing of this CPU has not been revealed yet, but at the Computex keynoteย Intel SVP and GM Gregory Bryant has confirmed that the processor is launching in Q4 of this year.
After NVIDIA announced its Studio program, Razer announced its new Razer Blade laptops with Quadro RTX professional graphics cards for content creators.

As for now, Razer has tightened its lips on the availability and the price front, but we can assume the lineup to be evenly priced with its predecessors.

The Dual Display

After long delays, and facing tough competitions with AMD, Intel launches the 10nm based 10th-Gen Core Processors codenamed Ice Lake CPUs at the Computex 2019
The Silicon giant has finally woke up from its sleep, the much needed and promised 10nm processors come finally alive at 2019’s Computex. Intel has finally shown off its new 10nm 10th-Generation Core processors, codenamed as Ice Lake CPUs.

What really made the headlines was due to the fact of 18% increase in average instruction per cycle (IPC) throughput compared to the aging Skylake architecture. Some applications receive 30 to 40% performance improvements for specific of workloads due to the new 10nm architecture.
Intel already demoed their Ice Lake CPUs at the CES 2019, wherein they showed about the new Sunny Cove microarchitecture that helps to drive the new Ice Lake CPUs. This resurrection was much needed for the chip making giant in front of the might Red team.
While AMD has just achieved a 15% more performance improvement in IPC due to the new 7nm process, and finally levelled Intel in its single core performance. Now, with the new microarchitecture and 10nm process Intel can again retrieve its performance leadership.
10nm based 10th generation Core processors coming first to laptops
As promised earlier, the new 10nm Ice Lake CPUs will be coming first for the laptops and thin & light devices. These new chips will come in U- and Y-series variants that draws power in 9W, 15W and 25W TDP ranges.
These 10th-generation processors for laptops surprisingly will be available in up to four cores and eight threads only, with 8MB of L3 cache, and have a maximum turbo frequencies of 4.1 GHz only.
Also here’s the dual-channel memory support up to 4X32 LPDDR4X-3733 and DDR4-3200, which seems to be a big improvement to ~60 GB/s of throughput. This will greatly help boost graphics performance and the new integrated Gen11 graphics will reach up to 1.1 GHz as well.
Intel has not yet discussed about any specific model yet, but there will be over 30 designs with multiple variations when they arrive in the market in the form of laptops. Intel also has introduced a new thin magnetic inductor array that helps the company to provide greater efficiency at low power.
Also the newly introduced Dynamic Tuning 2.0, a new machine learning-based power delivery technique, uses software running inside the OS to adjust power dynamically totally based upon the users’ needs.
New Ice lake Design & the Sunny Cove Microarchitecture
The new Ice Lake design finds room for lot of improvements due to the 10nm process and the use of Sunny Cove microarchitecture helps further to increase the throughput.
Here we see a huge improvement in the memory bandwidth with support up to 4X32 LPDDR4X-3733 and DDR4-3200. The new Gen 11 graphics along with the implementation of Thunderbolt 3 has charged up the CPUs.
There are 3X display pipes that supports 5K at 60fps and 4K at 120fps, also the new image processing unit 4 supports up to 16MP and video recording at 1080p at 120fps and 4K at 30fps.
With the Sunny cove microarchitecture, Intel can now process four or six micro-ops (uops) per clock with 50% larger micro-op cache. They have also expanded the L1 data cache from 32KB to 48KB and doubled the L2 cache to 512KB.
Ice Lake performance improvements
These new Ice Lake CPUs have an average IPC improvement of about 15 to 18% than the four years ago introduced Sky Lake CPUs. On the other hand, the single threaded performance has also increased a lot with the new Sunnycove cores but only when comparing against the old Broadwell architecture.
Intel Gen11 Graphics
Intel’s much promised Gen 11 graphics is being heavily boasted by the company and is even claimed to be even better than that of AMD’s fantastic APUs. When it is compared to its 8th Gen chips, Intel claims its new Gen11 Iris Plus graphics can achieve nearly double the performance.
It has bumped the number of execution units (EUs) from 24 up to 64 within the same power envelope. Due to the architectural improvements, Intel says the Gen 11 graphics delivers up to one teraflop of 32-bit and two teraflops of 16-bit floating point performance without consuming much power.
The Gen11 graphics unit features a significantly larger 3D engine to boost 1080P gaming performance above 30FPS into the 60 FPS range. This suggests Intel is trying to challenge AMD’s APUs which give tremendous CPU and integrated GPU performance.
Also there’s the inclusion of QuickSync video technology with dual HEVC encoders that can help you to create and playback 4K HDR content. The Gen11 graphics is also the company’s first integrated graphics unit to have Adaptive Sync and HDR capable display pipes. It also has support for HDR 3 and DPI 1.2.
Thunderbolt 3
Thunderbolt ports have always been limited to very few laptops and if they bear it, it has got only one Thunderbolt port only.
With Intel’s new dual-sided Thunderbolt 3 controller architecture seen in the new Ice Lake CPUs, it can provide up to 4 ports! Two on each side of the laptop.
Well, due to space constraints most of the OEMs will still ship the notebooks with two ports only, but in mere future, we can expect their models with expanded capabilities.
Laptops with the latest 10nm Ice Lake CPUs are to hit the shelves from June and nothing as such has been promised for the desktop end Ice Lake CPUs, but keeping in mind of Intel’s progress, they could nearly launch it at the end of 2019 or at 2020.

Today AMD announced a lot of things at its keynote headed by Dr Lisa Su, CEO of AMD, at the Computex 2019 held at Taipei. Apart from the great Ryzen 3000 CPU launch, AMD also announced its much rumoured upcoming Radeon Navi GPU.
The first GPU product of the Navi architecture is the 7nm RX 5700 GPU, the RX 5000 name is given in honour of the 50 glorious years completed by this silicon giant.
The Radeon RX 5700 is the first Navi GPU and is based on the company’s new RDNA macro-architecture, yes finally AMD has ditched the GCN architecture.
Yet, they have told that the Vega GPUs will still use GCN, but the RDNA is more of a futuristic GPU architecture which the company feels to be special for them.
Also, the Navi GPU will be the first to feature the worldโs first PCIe Gen 4 which delivers a significant performance improvement over PCIe Gen 3, an almost 2X improvement.
The new RDNA architecture features a completely new compute unit design along with multi-level cache hierarchy. This helps to deliver faster clock speeds at lower power consumption.
The architecture provides you with a 1.25x higher IPC and 1.5x more performance per watt than it previously used to be with the GCN architecture. The 7nm process also plays a key role here as well.
It was also shown by AMD that the new Radeon RX 5700 can provide 10% more performance than NVIDIAโs Turing based GeForce RTX 2070 GPU.
Honestly, from the previous GPU that AMD launched – the Radeon VII which was based on 7nm, the company has improved the GPU horsepower and used the architecture to challenge its competitors with capable GPUs at lower prices.
Not much specs has been shown by the company, but AMD has even revealed that the upcoming PlayStation gaming consoles will be powered by both the Navi GPUs and Zen 2 based Ryzen CPUs.
The Red Team even did not reveal if these GPUs have Ray Tracing feature in them or not, they will reveal everything on 7th of July at the E3 of 2019 along with other promised products.
