Samsung launches Portable SSD T7 & 870 QVO SSDs in India

Previously, Samsung brought its latest Portable T7 Touch SSDs in India and now it expands its portable SSD range with the affordable Portable T7 SSDs. Apart from it, the South Korean giant also announced its 870 QVO internal SSDs in India.

The Samsung 870 QVO internal SSDs will be available in 1TB, 2TB, 4TB, and 8TB storage options and will retail at Rs. 9,999, Rs. 19,999, Rs. 39,999 and Rs. 74,999, respectively and will be available from July 20 onwards.

These internal SSDs can reach a maximum read speed of up to 560 MB/s and write speed up to 530 MB/s. When compared to its predecessor, the Samsung 870 QVO provides 13% improved random read speed that helps for everyday computing, gaming, professional works and a lot more.

“The latest internal 870 QVO SSD would allow consumers to enjoy the performance benefits of an SSD at HDD-like capacities,” Akash Saxenaa, Senior Director, Enterprise Sales, Samsung India, said in a statement

Coming to the Portable SSD T7, this time Samsung will be offering these SSDs at a lot cheaper rate. The Portable SSD T7 has been priced at Rs. 9,999 for 500GB, Rs. 17,999 for 1TB and Rs. 29,999 for 2TB, respectively. However, these SSDs are already available on Amazon for purchase and there’s a sweet Rs. 1,000 on all of the models as well.

Samsung Portable SSD T7 will give you a maximum read and write speed of 1,050 MB/s and 1,000 MB/s, respectively, this makes these SSDs almost twice as faster than its predecessor. Apart from being shock resistant, the SSD also features AES 256 bit hardware encryption for security. Also, these portable SSDs come in three cool colours including Titan Gray, Metallic Red and Indigo Blue.

“The Portable SSD T7 will match our consumers’ fast paced lifestyle with its quick transfer speeds supported by NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory Express) technology and compact metal body design,” commented Akash about these SSDs.

The 8 core AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 4750U in a Lenovo ThinkPad T14s demolishes Intel totally

Recently, Lenovo has launched the ThinkPad T14s business laptop with Ryzen 4000 PRO APUs and has a starting price of just $1,319, making powerful business laptops much more affordable. It gives you both AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 4650U and Ryzen 7 PRO 4750U APU options that comes with powerful integrated Vega graphics, enough for basic to medium end graphical workloads.

Getting such specs in a thin profile makes the ThinkPad T14s a lucrative deal and has all the necessary ports and connectivity options for a business laptop. So how does the laptop perform in the real world? To this question, Notebookcheck’s detailed review shreds some important aspect of the laptop’s real-world performance.

Lenovo ThinkPad T14 and T14s business laptops with AMD Ryzen 4000 PRO APUs now available

In their review, they’ve used the Ryzen 7 Pro 4750U variant with 32 GB DDR4-3200 RAM along with 1 TB PCIe SSD that costs about 1399 Euros, fair enough for such great specs. Now, this laptop is compared to the Intel variant of the same laptop but with Core i5-10210U with 8GB RAM and 256 GB PCIe SSD which also costs about 1379 Euros.

In the Cinebench R20 single-core performance, the ThinkPad T14s scores 468 points which are way ahead of Intel counterpart which scores just 414 points. Even the more powerful and expensive laptops like ThinkPad X1 Carbon with Core i7-10510U gets beaten, just marginally behind of Core i7-10875H with 483 points.

In the multi-core performance test, the Ryzen 7 PRO 4750U scores a healthy 3050 points leaving the Intel competition to dust as it scores only 1323 points. The Ryzen’s score is just shy of the costlier Core i7-10875H with 3329 points.

More or less this is the same case with the Cinebench R15 test as well. Coming to the Geekbench scores, the ThinkPad T14s with Core i5-10210U scores 1072 points while our AMD processor scores 1149 points in single-core.

In the multi-core test, there’s an unmatched performance from the Ryzen 7 PRO 4750U with a whopping 6444 points even scoring better than the Ryzen 7 4700U while Intel CPUs nowhere to be seen except for the Core i7-10875H with 7825 points.

Overall in almost all CPU bound tests, the 8 core Ryzen 7 PRO 4750U just demolishes any Intel mobile processor, except the gaming ones, but it’s great to see the 15W AMD processor almost giving the performance of a 45W Intel competition. It’s PRO processors beat its own non-PRO processors by healthy margins, so something which business laptop users will be happy to know.

You’ll be even happier to know that the AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 4750U’s Vega iGPU performs almost similar to the NVIDIA GeForce MX330 discrete graphics without even paying extra. So, the value that the new Lenovo ThinkPad T14s gives is insane especially the Ryzen 7 PRO 4750U just blows away the competition and as Notebookcheck rightfully states, leaves Intel in the dust.

The heading itself can tense for any Barcelona fan out there if today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport is to be believed.

So the Italian media states that Pep Guardiola’s Man City will be joining the race for signing Lautaro Martinez. Also, a move to the Premier League does not seem to be in the list of priorities according to the report.

Recently, Manchester City’s Champions League ban was overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, and it seems this has given new energy to Pep’s side.

With this, City has sparked an interest in several big-name players as they want to build a squad capable of winning back the Premier League title from Liverpool. This makes Lautaro be among their top targets also a successor to Sergio Aguero.

Obviously, Lautaro fits well into Aguero’s profile for Man City while he is an ideal replacement for Luis Suarez for Barcelona. The Catalan giants are in pursuit of the 22-year old for a long time and due to the lack of funds, it hasn’t been able to satisfy Inter.

This is not the case for the rich Manchester City who has just gained another 45 million euros by selling Leroy Sane to Bayern Munich. While Barcelona is stuck with the likes of Coutinho, Dembele, Umtiti and others who have failed to perform at the Camp Nou.

Now, this will be Lautaro’s decision to go to which club he wants to but a Premier League move will not fit into his profile. However, given his compassion to play alongside Messi he can, however, wait for Barcelona move.

The report went on to say that now Inter is open to negotiations for the Argentine striker as now his 111 million euros contract has ended already. This can be bad news for the Blaugranas who are frantically looking for funds to bring Lautaro to Camp Nou.

Cricket South Africa’s Solidarity Cup is going to get global coverage. According to a release by Cricket South Africa the event will be broadcasted live in South Africa, India, the USA, Caribbean Islands, New Zealand, Australia and the UK.

Nomkhita Nqweni, Interim CEO of the Solidarity Fund said: “Now more than ever South Africans need to stand together in unity and live the virtues and principles which would make Nelson Mandela proud. As the country braces for its peak, it’s critical that we all adopt the necessary behaviour changes to make the biggest impact as we fight to save lives and overcome this global crisis.”

Apple already in talks with TSMC to fabricate custom ARM chips for Macs

Already we know the fact that Apple and TSMC have a long partnership as Apple is one of the biggest customers to the Taiwanese Silicon giant. Apple will be shifting to ARM chips for its wide range of Macs and for it, the company requires a huge amount of silicon chips.

So it’s obvious destination is TSMC and a report from Digitimes states that by the first half of 2021 Apple will be contracting a small portion of TSMC’s capacity.

This is no surprise for the fact that Apple is one of the oldest customers of TSMC and it’s a shift to its own silicons require much more chips than ever before.

Apple Silicon for next-gen Macs announced at WWDC 2020

Although starting small, Apple will surely be relying more on TSMC. Hopefully, as rumours suggest its first products with Apple Silicon will be in the form of MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro.

This transition will take the time of 2 years to get all of its products compatible with ARM chips. However, the world is looking forward to Apple’s bold decision and how its chips actually perform in the coming days.

BCCI ordered to pay Rs 4,800 crores as compensation to former IPL franchise Deccan Chargers

Deccan Chargers were one of the first eight teams of the Indian Premier League. It was owned by Deccan Chronicle Holdings Limited (DCHL). Deccan Chargers also won the second edition of IPL in 2009 under the leadership of Australian legend Adam Gilchrist.

BCCI terminated the franchise in September 2012. The BCCI alleged that the franchise had violated the BCCI code. While DCHL attempted to auction the franchise, it rejected the sole bid it obtained from PVP Ventures. Later BCCI terminated the contract and put all of its players in the auction pool.

Later, DCHL moved to the Supreme Court challenging the termination of the franchise. However, the apex court refused to overturn the termination and ruled in favour of the cricket board. The franchise was sold to Chennai based media network Sun Network. The Hyderabad based group is currently called Sunrisers Hyderabad.

deccan chargers BCCI ordered to pay Rs 4,800 crores as compensation to former IPL franchise Deccan Chargers

The Hyderabad based former Indian Premier League franchise Deccan Chargers has now won the arbitration case against BCCI. It is a big embarrassment for the BCCI. The Bombay High Court appointed arbitrator has asked the BCCI to pay Rs. 4,800 crores compensation to the owners of the Deccan Chargers. The verdict was delivered on Friday by retired judge CK Thakkar. The case pertains to the termination of the franchise in September 2012, which the arbitrator has termed as unlawful.

Deccan Chargers had won the franchise rights in the year 2007 agreeing to pay $107 million over a decade. But the franchise was terminated in 2012 unlawfully. The verdict given by the court is very much comparable to the instance of Kochi Tuskers Kerala, who’d also won the arbitration against the BCCI. The BCCI has been asked to pay Rs 850 crores to Kochi Tuskers Kerala, but since then the thing stuck in a legal quagmire. The two parties have attempted for settlement but without success.

It remains to be seen what action BCCI takes after this verdict, if they are going to pay the compensation or take the matter to a higher court!

The Indian Government banned 59 Chinese apps in our country keeping in mind the data security issues. Now, the department sends 77 questions to all the application owner companies and all are regarding the data security policies, contents the were serving, and lot more. There are also queries whether they censored their contents in favor of foreign governments or not, and they were connected with some influencers to promote their application or not.

Still, there is no information regarding lifting the ban form any of the 59 apps, buy some steps may be taken after getting the answers. For that, the Information Technology Ministry of India gives them a maximum of three weeks’ time.

The major questions are related to censoring the contents uploaded or shown in their platforms. Specifically, if they censored any content related to Pulwama Attack of 2019 or not. Besides, they also asked whether they approached any celebrities in our country for promotion.

Apart from all these, the list also consists of a few other questions from the fields like advertising, privacy policies, their business structures, and most importantly faced investigations in other countries if any.

As I mentioned, all 59 app authorities have a maximum of three weeks’ time. On the other hand, TikTok, the video making Chinese app by ByteDance recently fined $155,000 in South Korea for mishandling child users data.
