Olympique Lyonnais set Champions League semi-final date with Bayern Munich

Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais has produced the shock of this Champions League season. They have knocked out Manchester City who was one of the favourites of this season.

Cornet scored a well-taken goal and Moussa Dembele came on as a substitute and produced a Man of the Match display by scoring two late goals to win the tie.

Dembele said with a smile: “We are still in it, which means we have a great team. We are taking it game by game, not getting carried away.”

“We will try to be ready for Bayern.”

Lyon coach Rudi Garcia was proud of his team for producing such an amazing display.

He said: “With Pep, you can expect anything. We knew that Pep could concoct something to cause us problems. But in the end I think we won the tactical battle in the sense that we’ve mastered our tactical system, even if I changed it (during the match),”

“I’m experiencing a lot of happiness right now … when I see the joy in the dressing room, I tell myself that I’m in the right.”

“You can’t stop when you’re on such a good path. It’s not the night to talk about Bayern, but we’re only in the semi-finals, we’ve still got a few steps to go.”

Garcia also praised Man of the Match Dembele: “It was a disappointment for Moussa not to start, but I told him, he was going to be very important when entering. Salvation came from the bench.”

Lyon will face a strong Bayern Munich team which had beaten Barcelona by 8-2. They will have to be on their toes to avoid such a heady defeat in the semi-final against Bayern.

Manchester United boss and captain are determined to end the season with the Europa League trophy

After four days of cracking Champions League football now, it’s time for Europa League semi-finals from tonight. In the first semi-final English giant Manchester United is going to face Spanish side Sevilla to secure their place in the finals.

Manchester United was 3rd in their domestic league and already qualified for the next season’s Champions League .But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side is determined to end the season with a trophy.

United was unbeaten in the league since February to secure their place in top 3. They only lost one game since then in all competition. The only defeat was against Chelsea in the FA Cup Semi-Final.

Solskjaer was asked about their journey of this season in the pre-match press conference ahead of the semi-final against Sevilla. He said: “We have good possibility to finish the season with a trophy, this is the only way we could have done it.”

Manchester United Captain Harry Maguire said: “I joined this club to win trophies, I fully expect to win trophies while I’m at this club. Getting to semi-finals isn’t good enough for this club. “

“It’s been a promising year in the Premier League, we’ve finished third. It’s not something that this club wants to do, finish third, but at the start of the season from where we were last year, I’m sure a lot of people would have taken that.”

“But, for the future, that’s not where we want to be. We want to be winning trophies, the Premier League and other cups.”

Sevilla boss Julien Lopetegui showed great respect to Red Devils. He said: “I think United are the best United in the last few years.”

“They’ve found their football, they have not lost since January in the Premier League, such a competitive league, and they are in the right place. They’re a total team in many respects and are going to force us to play a great game if we are going to be able to compete with them.”

Sevilla was 4th in the La Liga 17 points behind the champion Real Madrid. Their performance was decent enough throughout the season. Their recent past in Europa League was also astonishing.

Last time Manchester United faced Sevilla, was in Champions League round of 16 in 2017-18 season United was beaten by the Sevilla. Can Manchester United hit back and go forward to the business end of this competition?

Being a “Corpo”, you will be a top-level corporate, comfortable as a well paid corporate agent who takes on critical missions for Arasaka. Each character will have different advantages or disadvantages during a mission depending on the “lifepath” you choose and at some point in the game, each of these characters might meet each other since they will carry out similar missions.

So, that’s all about the “Lifepaths” in the upcoming DRM-free game(No-DRM) Cyberpunk 2077. You have three backstories for your player character and tons to explore in this game and rumors also suggest’s that you can complete the game without playing main quests.

Marc-André ter Stegen often referred to as the “German Wall” for Barcelona had experienced a night on Monday which he would like to wipe out from his history. He had conceded 8 goals for Barca that night making a humiliating scoreline of 8-2, which indeed is one of the worst in the Barca history, Bayern Munich just thrashed the team to dust as they kept on their goal-scoring tempo, while the demotivated Barca had no choice but giving up.

In this tweet, the German goalkeeper said, “Really tough times. Culers, I feel really sorry for what happened yesterday. I’m disappointed. I don’t want to search for excuses – because there are none. We definitely need to change.”

The team already lost during halftime when the scoreline was 4-1 and we didn’t see much from the Barca we know, yet their mental breakdown gave the opportunity to the unbeatable Bayern to keep on pressing them. The whole team including Ter Stegen made mistakes out of despair but this is not expected from a club of that magnitude and a glorious history.

In the last few minutes of the game, Barca was totally out of the game, conceding three goals in quick succession, notably because of their former man Phillippe Coutinho. The fans are already upset and angry with Barcelona along with the players and even the board, who look forward to “making major changes” in the coming days.

Things need to change at the club and even though every player like Pique also wants change to the club, it will be interesting to see how the team adapts to the “so-called changes” and what new decisions are taken for the betterment of the club in the coming days.

Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne had a heartbreaking Champions League night on Saturday. Lyon knocked them out by a scoreline of 3-1 but the match was full of controversies.

But there’s some good news for Manchester City and Kevin De Bruyne. Although Liverpool won the Premier League, De Bruyne had an amazing season. He finished the season with 13 goals and 20 assists in 35 appearances – equalling Thierry Henry’s record for maximum assists in a single Premier League campaign.

Premier League has now officially announced on Sunday that Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne is the 2019-20 EA Sports FIFA Player of the Season.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson won the FWA’s Footballer of the Year award but De Bruyne has beaten him to win this award.

De Bruyne was upset after they crashed out of the Champions League. He felt he and his teammates only have themselves to blame. He said: “The game was open, but (Lyon) didn’t really create too many chances.”

“We need to learn – it’s not good enough. That’s it. The first half was not good enough and we know that, we started slow and did not have options.”

“Second half we played well, got 1-1 and had chances, but then 2-1 and 3-1 ends the game, it’s a shame for us to go out that way.”

“Their keeper made a few saves and even at 2-1, we had a chance with Raz (Raheem Sterling). That’s football, fine margins make the difference.

The 2019-20 season is over and De Druyne revealed the one thing he is now looking forward to. He said: “I need to get home because my wife is expecting any moment. I have something to focus on personally. But yes, it’s hard (to take).”

And now, there’s another thing for him to celebrate. He deserves every bit of the Player of the Season award.

There was a recent controversy regarding the £72m signing of Nicolas Pepe from Lille last summer, though Arsenal has denied that they have carried out an internal investigation on this matter.

Arsenal head of football, Raul Sanllehi has left the club on Saturday. He has now released a statement revealing the reason behind his Arsenal departure.

The statement read: “It is with mixed feelings I end my professional relation with Arsenal… As said, many mixed (and contradictory) feelings arise, from deep sadness, to full pride and gratefulness to have been given the opportunity to work in such a special club alongside the best professionals and human beings I’ve met over my 25 years in this industry.”

“I will continue a Gooner for the rest of my days, and I will be celebrating every goal and every title they (WE) achieve in the coming years.”

“I said I had many contradictory feelings at this time, MANY, but I can assure you one that I DON’T have in anger.”

“Not at all!

“Of course I feel frustrated and powerless, but I also have the certainty I gave my best work and effort to bring this club back were it belongs. I don’t want to bore you further with a long message, but did indeed want you to know this news from me.”

“There is no one to blame for this, other than Covid, and the need to adapt and remodel the club’s structure to the new times. But the big question remains why has Raul left the club just after the news of internal investigation into Pepe’s transfer?

According to a report by ESPN, individuals working for other clubs who became involved in preliminary talks with Lille were taken aback by the amount Arsenal eventually paid.

The Gunners paid £20m upfront but have committed a further £52m over the next five years, the first instalment of which is due this summer.

The Coronavirus pandemic has hurt everyone out there both medically and financially, football clubs across the globe have been well affected on the economic front. Sponsors, match audience, store sales and other forms of earnings is the key to sustain a club and due to this long lockdown and matches played in closed doors has hurt the football clubs already.

This will obviously be an impact for the coming summer transfer window and we will see more swap and loan deals to sustain economically. Real Madrid is one of the richest football club and when it comes to transfers, the club is not very shy enough to spend on players, but this time, however, as Sport reckons, the situation is much worse than it looks like.

Already, the Los Blancos are spending a lot of money in the remodelling of the Santiago Bernabeu, which as for now, doesn’t have a solid end date, on top of that, there’s no firm time frame when fans can return to the stadium. To make situations even worse, the club’s two main sponsors – Fly Emirates and Adidas have told Madrid that right now both of them can’t afford to match the current agreements in place.

The airline company had a deal of €40m whereas Adidas had agreed to pay a whopping €110m per year, a total of 1.1 billion euros over a 10 years period. But due to the lack of income because of the empty stadiums, so financially the situation is much tighter than expected.

That’s why Real Madrid is pushing hard to sell the players on high wages to those wages that are only affordable due to these two main sponsorship deals. So, Los Blancos has to balance the books before they go for any new signings while it is reported that, the club has to implement a pay cut across the squad which is said won’t be made public. Already players have agreed to a 10% pay cut because of the pandemic and will be asked for another 10% cut next season.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni took to Instagram on Saturday to confirm his retirement from International cricket. This announcement has left the cricket community in despair.

Dhoni is one of India’s finest captain. He started his journey with the Indian team back in 2004. He is the only captain who has won all the ICC limited-overs tournaments. He won the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup, 2011 ICC ODI World Cup and 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.

After a long journey of 15 years, Dhoni announced his retirement on 7:29 pm, Saturday. That’s the reason why he wrote: “From 1929 hrs consider me as Retired.”

Dhoni had already retired from Test cricket back in 2014. But he continued to play in ODI and T20 matches. In 2017, he stepped down from the Captain of India and played under Virat Kohli’s leadership.

And now, from 7:29 pm 15th August 2020, Dhoni will never play for India again. This will be a huge loss not only for India but for the whole cricketing world.

MS Dhoni is a huge fan of football star, Cristiano Ronaldo. He wore the No 7 jersey inspired by him. But he has himself made the No 7 jersey legendary in the cricket world. So players and fans have urged BCCI to retire Dhoni’s jersey No 7.

Although, Dhoni will continue to play for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. The 13th edition of IPL is scheduled to take place in UAE from 19th September.
