Frenkie de Jong also says there should be changes at Barcelona

After suffering a heavy 8-2 loss against Bayern Munich last night, Barcelona has already started making headlines as they fail to qualify the Champions League semis. It’s players like Pique have already asked for changes at the club, the young De Jong has also called upon changes at the club.

Barca has turned weak over time and has lost all its glory but after 2015, they still at least won the La Liga but this year they haven’t and yesterday’s game showed how incompetent they are against Europe’s top competitors.

The team lacks young players and after conceding in the early minutes, the team already looked heartbroken after half time. So, after the match, the Dutch midfielder also opened to talk about his changes that need to come to the club.

He even said after conceding the first goal, Barça felt they could beat Bayern, especially when it was equalized to 1-1 early on: “We believed we could win the game. In the first 15 or 20 minutes, they scored early, but we leveled and we had two good chances, so we believed in it, of course. You could see that at the beginning.

“But they were much better than us. I don’t think it’s to do with talent, I think it’s to do with intensity and hard work. We have to change these things. It’s a huge disappointment, not just for me, but for all the club, because this club is accustomed to winning trophies.

“It’s the biggest club in the world, we have to perform much, much better than we have done tonight.”

To end this, De Jong did not like to speak about if Manchester City or Lyon will be able to beat Bayern: “I think City is also a really good team, as is Lyon. But it doesn’t matter too much right now. Bayern was really good tonight and, of course, deserved to win.”
