Kirin 820 SoC powered Honor 30S on par with the Snapdragon 855

Huawei did not make any major announcement of its smartphones amid the Coronavirus situation. But soon it seems they will virtually be launching a lot of stuff soon.

The alleged Huawei P40 series will be making its debut soon and in the mid of this it’s another brand Honor will be launching a smartphone on March 30th. Honor is set to launch the Honor 30S which will be the successor to the 20S featuring the new Kirin 820 SoC.

This new device should be 5G ready and so should be it’s SoC, so being a mid-range chip, the Kirin 820 SoC will be the only one to come integrated with 5G.

Kirin 820 SoC powered Honor 30S on par with the Snapdragon 855

According to ITHome, a Weibo tech blogger has got hold of this new chipset’s Geekbench 4 benchmarks. The user has even drawn up a graph comparing it against the 2 much better-known chipsets: the Kirin 980 and Snapdragon 855.

The graph shows the Kirin 820 capable of beating the 2-year-old flagship chipset from its own maker while giving a comparable performance to last year’s flagship Snapdragon 855 which seems promising from a mid-range SoC.

Getting such a powerful SoC on a mid-range device which is even 5G ready, it makes things great for users who both need performance and 5G at a significantly lower price point. It is rumoured that the Kirin 820 SoC consists of 8 ARM Cortex-A76 cores and an improved Mali-G67 GPU with 10 cores.

It seems the Kirin 820 will be the direct competitor to the Snapdragon 765 series which are also feature 5G connectivity. However, if leaks are true this Huawei’s chip would even more powerful than Snapdragon chips only the launch Honor 30S can actually depict the power of this SoC.

Former Real Madrid president Lorenzo Sanz dies due to Coronavirus

0

Lorenzo Sanz was the president of Real Madrid from 1995 to 2000. During his time at the helm, Real Madrid won two Champions League triumphs, one LaLiga title and the Spanish giants winning the now-defunct European Cup Winners’ Cup.

Lorenzo was admitted to hospital this week due to Coronavirus’ symptoms. But sadly the 76-year-old could not fight against it and has passed away on Saturday.

Lorenzo’s son confirmed his father’s death on Twitter. He wrote: “My father has just died. He did not deserve it to end in this manner. One of the best, most courageous and hard-working people I have seen in my life. His family and Real Madrid were his passion.”

lorenzo sanz

Real Madrid released an official statement, which read: “Real Madrid, its president and the board of directors regret with great consternation the death of Lorenzo Sanz, who was president of Real Madrid from 1995 to 2000.”

“They also want to express their deepest condolences and all their affection and affection to his wife Mari Luz, their children, Lorenzo, Francisco, Fernando, MarΓa Luz [Malula] and Diana, and their family and friends. Condolences that also extend to all Real Madrid.”

“Today, Real Madrid is mourning the loss of a president who dedicated a large part of his life to his great passion: Real Madrid. Given the current circumstances, Real Madrid will pay him the recognition he deserves as soon as possible.”

Current Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez said: “Today, we remember Lorenzo Sanz, who has fallen victim to this tragedy. He was the president who gave us Madridistas the long-awaited European Cup after a 32-year absence. We Madridistas will forever remember him as the president who brought hope and joy flooding back on the 20th of May 1998 in Amsterdam.”

“La Septima was ours. It was then followed by La Octava two years on, in the year 2000 in Paris, as Real Madrid returned to its rightful position in football’s history books. Beyond those two European Cups, under his tutelage, the club also clinched one Intercontinental Cup, one LaLiga title, a Spanish Super Cup, a basketball league title and Cup Winners’ Cup.”

lorenzo sanz

Perez further added: “We’ve lost a fine Madridista who dedicated a large part of his life to what was both his and his family’s greatest pleasure: Real Madrid. Here at the club, we’ll do all we can to honour his memory and legacy, to pay him the tribute that all of Madridismo craves. Lorenzo deserves the greatest recognition.”

“A tribute to him in our Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, where he continued to attend every game in order to stay close to his team. For now, as we all know, this is not possible, but we will, of course, ensure it takes place in order to enshrine his memory in the minds of new generations of Madridismo.”

The Coronavirus pandemic has sent the whole world to lockdown with millions effected and thousands dead.

The new 2020 iPad Pro’s performance beats the MacBook Air

0

Recently, Apple launched both of its iPad Pro and MacBook Air silently, now the performance benchmarks for both of them are surfacing throughout the internet. Both of these devices have had some fair hardware upgrades over last-gen, the iPad Pro now equipped with Apple’s new A12Z processor while the MacBook Air comes with Apple’s custom Intel Ice Lake chips.

It’s worth noting that the newer Apple A12Z Bionic chip is the same as the previous A12X processor found on the 2018 iPad Pro with some minor tweaks and the benchmarks is the evidence of that. In fact, the A12Z processor has the same clock speed and architecture as the A12X processor, only the exception being the presence of an additional GPU core.

Also, theΒ 6GB RAM upgradeΒ might be the key factor when it comes to performance and as we are on the verge of the iPadOS 14 announcements in a couple of months, the additional amount of RAM might be helpful for the new features that Apple will release in the software update.

Apple iPad Pro with A12Z Bionic & LiDAR Scanner starts at Rs.71,900

Now, coming back to the performance comparison, in the Geekbech scores, the 2018 iPad Pro manages to score 1113 points in single-core and 4608 points in multi-core which already makes it a powerful device while the newer 2020 iPad Pro manages to grab 1117 points in single-core only and 4724 points in multi-core.

This is quite expected as there’s no significant upgrade on the CPU front and the presence of an extra bit of RAM does help in multi-core tests. So is you do own a 2018 iPad Pro you will not have a big reason to upgrade your “already powerful” device. The key improvement might be the cameras and design along with a doubled storageΒ andΒ added trackpad support.

Already the 2018 iPad Pro is available at a discounted price andΒ is indeed a great value for money. Also, even after adding the cost for a keyboard as well as the Apple Pencil, it is not easy to find a Windows PC which has a comparable display or performance in the same price range.Β

Apple launches new MacBook Air with Magic Keyboard & Intel Ice Lake CPUs, starts at Rs.92,990

The benchmark scores tell how powerful the iPad Pro is and even the newly announced 2020 MacBook Air cannot compete well against the iPad Pro in terms of performance. The new MacBook Air score only 1047 points in single-core and 2658 in multi-core which is far lesser than the Apple chip.

When compared with the 2019 MacBook Air that featured the 8th gen Intel CPUs based 14nm, did give a comparable performance in the multi-core tests as it scores 3851 points in Geekbench to Apple’s A12Z processor. While the 10nm Ice Lake CPU does give better single-core performance scoring 1047 points in benchmark and should give better battery efficiency.

Also, it’s worth noting that the MacBooks have a fan for active cooling, while the iPad Pro does not have any still gives incredible performance and if you want a powerful device for creativity and work purposes then do grab the new Magic keyboard and an Apple pencil.

While if you want a more authentic MacBook experience then the newer and cheaper MacBooks with increased storage, enhanced battery life, larger display and better keyboard might be a better option for you.

The AMD Ryzen 7 4800H in Asus TUF Gaming laptop defeats the Intel Core i9-9980HK

0

The alleged Asus TUF Gaming laptop has been surfacing around the internet for quite some time and we are sure it will soon debut in the market featuring the new Ryzen 4000H gaming processors.

Like its predecessor, the upcoming TUF gaming laptops will have flexible budget options, its price range depending on the APU used and the GPU being used. But yes they will be a lot cheaper than Intel ones, so comparing them with Intel ones won’t be a good thing as it’s known that they will better value-for-money products.

The 8-core, 16-threaded AMD Ryzen 7 4800H is a powerful APU with 45W TDP to max out the performance that can be achieved with this Zen 2 processor. However, the Ryzen 7 4800H in the Asus TUF Gaming A17 laptop has been compared with the top-of-the-line Intel Core i9-9980HK in Geekbench.

In Geekbench 5Β single-core the Renoir APU managed to score from 1,192 to 1,195 points while in multi-core test results it performed from 8,291 points to 8,343 points.Β When compared with the same 8-core & 16-threaded Core i9-9980HK in the Dell Precision 5540Β and theΒ Apple MacBook Pro 15 2019.

The Dell laptop recorded a higher single-core score of 1,243 points, but on the other hand, the Apple MacBook Pro 15 2019’s Intel Core i9-9980HK did get defeated by the Renoir APU, managing to score only 1,171 points. While in the multi-core tests, the Intel counterpart in both the laptops did score only 7,072 points & 7,267 points respectively.

CES 2020: AMD Ryzen 4000H gaming processors with up to 8 cores/16 threads launched

This seems promising from an AMD mobile processor for the first time, even defeating the top-tier Intel CPU even though it will be far less in price. All of the three laptops feature 32 GB of RAM and even though the AMD one might have a higher base clock of 2.9GHz, the Intel CPU has a higher boost clock speed of 5GHz.

One might think this to be not a fair comparison because Intel’s 10th gen Comet Lake gaming CPUs aren’t being compared with but yes for the first time AMD managed to defeat Intel. Also, the Ryzen 9 4900H APU might be performing even better in future tests, overall the 7nm goodness is indeed coming to laptops this year. Source: @_rogame

Global smartphone shipments declined by 38% in February amid Coronavirus impact

0

the Coronavirus has made some deep impact in the world market so far and one of them includes the smartphone market. The business has hit the all-time low and the increasing effect of it has put the total world in fear

Global smartphone shipments have decreased by 38% Year on Year (YoY) in February due to the COVID-19 outbreak, according to market research firm Strategy Analytics.

This has been the worst effect in the smartphone market ever and this situation seems to worsen even more by the coming months until we find a proper cure for this virus.

According to Linda Sui, Director at Strategy Analytics, β€œGlobal smartphone shipments tumbled a huge 38 per cent annually from 99.2 million units in the month of February 2019, to 61.8 million in February 2020.”

Apple's Q1 2020 revenue expects to drop due to coronavirus

β€œSmartphone demand collapsed in Asia last month, due to the Covid-19 outbreak, and this dragged down shipments across the world. Some Asian factories were unable to manufacture smartphones, while many consumers were unable or unwilling to visit retail stores and buy new devices,” Sui said in a statement.

Naturally, China plays a key role in the smartphone both as a manufacturer and as a customer. China manufactures most of the smartphone or is into the distribution of various key parts of a smartphone.

This has disrupted the supply chains and as China is one of the worst affected countries, the smartphone shipments in China has faced an all-time low. Naturally big players like Apple, Huawei, Samsung and others have faced huge problems in this sensitive condition.

β€œFebruary 2020 saw the biggest fall ever in the history of the worldwide smartphone market. Supply and demand of smartphones plunged in China, slumped across Asia, and slowed in the rest of the world. It is a period the smartphone industry will want to forget,” said Neil Mawston, Executive Director at Strategy Analytics.

According to this firm, despite the signs of recovery in China, in March also the global smartphone shipments will face an all-time low and this should continue in the coming months as well.

β€œThe coronavirus scare has spread to Europe, North America and elsewhere, and hundreds of millions of affluent consumers are in lockdown, unable or unwilling to shop for new devices. The smartphone industry will have to work harder than ever to lift sales in the coming weeks, such as online flash sales or generous discounts on bundling with hot products like smartwatches,” added Yiwen Wu, Senior Analyst at Strategy Analytics.
