New Intel Iris Xe graphics on Tiger Lake CPUs support triple-A gaming

0

Until now, gaming on Intel integrated graphics was a myth and people found AMD’s integrated Vega graphics more compelling, so people bought laptops with AMD APUs as they were more budget-friendly than the improved yet costlier Ice Lake CPUs. So, even though Intel CPUs were a lot more costly, however, their iGPU has always been underwhelming.

Although with the new Intel Xe graphics, Intel is taking this to next level, the blue team has understood the fact that people these days need an all round product at affordable price points. Gaming on a thin and light is a myth but still the NVIDIA mobile GPUs have enabled this but never been that much improessive, so Intel has taken a leap in this segment, beating AMD, NVIDIA with its new Xe graphics.

Previous benchmarks showed the power of the new Gen12 Xe LP graphics over the AMD Radeon graphics and on paper, it looked really great. Yesterday, in its unveiling Intel did compare its own iGPU against the likes of AMD’s Vega iGPU and NVIDIA mobile GPUs as well, it even showed its superiority in triple-A games and even next-gen thin and light notebooks or 2-in-1 laptops can also let you game smoothly without any hiccups.

This obviously can surprise a lot of us because this kind of performance jump has never been expected from Intel who had been making crappy UHD graphics until now. Getting almost 60FPS in games without a dedicated GPU is indeed a commendable job and this will strike a new competition in the mobile processor market.

Apart from gaming, Intel also promises good performance in productivity workloads as well such as photo editing and even video rendering as well as editing. Intel even showed a demo where its new Tiger Lake CPUs with Xe graphics were better performing against the might Ryzen 7 4800U with integrated Vega 8 graphics.

Getting such graphical improvements in a generational difference is really impressive and obviously that too in a slim form factor new Intel-powered laptops can really make a difference. However, only time will tell how much these compelling and effective these new Tiger Lake CPUs are and if they suit the pockets of the masses as Intel has a bad track record in terms of pricing.

Everton set to sign Abdoulaye Doucoure after securing the transfer of Allan and James Rodriguez

Everton is set to bring Abdoulaye Doucouré from Watford for a fee of €25M. Carlo Ancelotti wants him in his team for the next season.

It has been a busy transfer window for Everton FC. They have already completed the signing of Allan from Napoli and James Rodriguez from Real Madrid (only medical and final announcement to go). Now they are just one step away from bringing the French midfielder to Goodison Park.

According to Italian reporter Fabrizio Romano, “After completing deals for James Rodriguez and Allan, Everton are now one step away from signing also Abdoulaye Doucouré. €25m to Watford possible final fee but some detail still to be resolved. Personal terms ok. Ancelotti is making business…”

1 GettyImages 1255613351 Everton set to sign Abdoulaye Doucoure after securing the transfer of Allan and James Rodriguez

Abdoulaye has shown his talent in his time at Watford. Though Watford was relegated from EPL last season. But some of the players are on the target list of some of the big clubs. Doucouré is one of them.

In his four seasons at Watford, he has scored 17 goals in his 141 appearances. He was selected as the ‘Watford FC Player of the Season’ in the 2017-18 season.

Everton finished 12th in the league last season. It was not the result they surely wanted. Carlo Ancelotti took the charge of the club last December.

The three times UEFA Champions League winner manager wants to bring back good days to the Merseyside. He has brought two of his old students from the old teams he once managed. By bringing in talented and experienced players like James and Allan and young talent like Doucouré Ancelotti just wants to make a good balance in the team fulfilling the deficiency.

Everton will be hoping to atleast stage a fight against the big six clubs of England in the upcoming season.

Everything you need to know about the 20/21 UEFA Nations League

0

The second edition of the UEFA Nations League kicks off tonight with a bang, pitting two former World Cup winners against each other. The biennial tournament was introduced by the European governing body of the sport to cut back on friendlies. Although that might sound harsh, one can’t help but agree that friendlies lacked competitive spirit. This caused people to become less and less interested in international competitions.

Enter, the Nations League. The competition not only pits teams against each other in a competitive fashion but also offers an opportunity to teams. The opportunity to play in the FIFA World Cup.

Format of the tournament, SIMPLIFIED

While the format of the tournament can be a bit complicated if you look at the groups without any previous knowledge, it’s pretty simple if you get it.

The UEFA Nations League is a straightforward league. 55 teams participate in the league, but only four go on to play in the semis, and two go on to clash in the finals.

portugal wins nations league Everything you need to know about the 20/21 UEFA Nations League

The 55 teams are divided into four leagues. They are: League A, League B, League C and League D. Leagues A, B and C have 16 teams and League D has 7 teams.

The 16 teams of Leagues A, B and C are divided into four groups each. In other words, four teams are drawn in groups 1, 2, 3 and 4 each. The draw for the 20/21 campaign is as follows:

League A

Group 1: Netherlands, Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland
Group 2: England, Belgium, Denmark, Iceland
Group 3: Portugal, France, Sweden, Croatia
Group 4: Switzerland, Spain, Ukraine, Germany

League B

League B ready to burst into action

Group 1: Austria, Norway, Northern Ireland, Romania
Group 2: Czech Republic, Scotland, Slovakia, Israel
Group 3: Russia, Serbia, Turkey, Hungary
Group 4: Wales, Finland, Republic of Ireland, Bulgaria

League C

Group 1: Montenegro, Cyprus, Luxembourg, Azerbaijan
Group 2: Georgia, North Macedonia, Estonia, Armenia
Group 3: Greece, Kosovo, Slovenia, Moldova
Group 4: Albania, Belarus, Lithuania, Kazakhstan

League D

Group 1: Faroe Islands, Latvia, Andorra, Malta
Group 2: Gibraltar, Liechtenstein, San Marino

A look at the different groups will definitely make understanding the format much easier.

Much like any league format, teams play each other twice per group. Once at home, and once away from home. When the fixtures are finished, four group winners from Group A go on to the finals. Once again, just like a league format, the teams who finish at the bottom of leagues A and B are relegated to the lower league, whereas the team from the lower leagues which finish at the top gain promotion.

This is where it starts to get a bit confusing but I shall try my best to explain.

Since League D has only two groups, only two teams can gain promotion to League C. Hence, two teams from league C must be relegated to make room for the promoted teams. The teams which are promoted or relegated are determined via playoffs.

While group winners from the ten-team groups automatically qualify to the World Cup, the runners up from these groups play against the best two Nations League group winners, based on the Nations League overall ranking, that finished outside the top two of their qualifying group. Three playoffs lead to three teams qualifying.

Where to watch the UEFA Nations League?

In the Indian subcontinent, Sony Sports Network has the exclusive rights to broadcasting all UEFA competitions. Just like the Champions League and the Europa League, all televised matches will be available on the Sony Sports Channels which include Ten 1, 2, 3 and Sony Six. You can also watch the live streaming of the matches on Sony Liv.

Baichung Bhutia: East Bengal has enough time to prepare for the 2020-21 ISL season

The rivalry of the two Kolkata based clubs, East Bengal and Mohun Bagan are well known to all the Indian football fans. Both the clubs played I-League last season, with Mohun Bagan winning the 2019-20 title.

Read: Mohan Bagan declared I-League champions as AIFF conclude the 2019-20 season amid Coronavirus pandemic

Three-time ISL winner ATK has now merged with Mohun Bagan to form a new club, ATK Mohun Bagan FC. This merger will allow Mohun Bagan to play in ISL from the next season.

East Bengal has now got their new investor in the form of Benu Gopal Bangur-run cement manufacturer Shree Cement. The deal has been agreed and the announcement has been made yesterday in the presence of Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee. She has helped the club to find a new investor and participate in the ISL.

With new investor on board, East Bengal are ready to make their ISL debut this year in the same time as their city rivals Mohun Bagan.

baichung bhutia Baichung Bhutia: East Bengal has enough time to prepare for the 2020-21 ISL season

Former Indian striker, Baichung Bhutia began his career with East Bengal in 1992 and went on to win every single trophy with the club including one National Football League title and the ASEAN Cup in 2003. He had five different stints with the red and gold brigade between 1993 and 2011.

Bhutia told IANS on Thursday: “I am very happy that finally East Bengal got an investor and are hopeful of playing ISL this year. I am really happy for the fans. They have been praying to see East Bengal play in the top league.”.

He feels East Bengal has enough time to prepare for this season’s ISL. He said: “I think they have enough time. Other teams have also not really started training and some, like Chennaiyin FC and NorthEast United, have just appointed their coaches. Even Hyderabad FC had to change.”

“East Bengal have already signed quite a few players, I think. So I don’t think there should be any problem.”.

The player transfer window closes on 20th October and the registration deadline is on 23rd October. East Bengal are yet to appoint a head coach and are still in talks with Spaniard Mario Rivera who guided them to a second-place finish in the truncated I-League last season.

Bhutia hopes East Bngal forgets everything and go and win the ‘trophy’. He said: “I think they have learnt their lessons from the past [with former investors Quess]. I am sure everybody will become more mature now,”.

The former East Bengal player also said if East Bengal do play the ISL this season, he would be eagerly waiting to see the two arch-rivals East Bengal and ATK-Mohun Bagan face each other. He said: “I am very excited to see the derby in the ISL. I can assure you that East Bengal and Mohun Bagan coming to the ISL will bring more charm. It will lift the tournament.”

If ISL can bring the East Bengal – Mohun Bagan derby back then it would definitely see a huge spike in viewership and engagement. The derby would bring in a whole new level of excitement in the tournament which will be played behind closed doors in Goa.

ASUS announces ROG Strix, TUF Gaming and Dual NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series Graphics Cards

ROG Strix: Take Flight

From top to bottom, the ROG Strix GeForce RTX 30 Series has received a host of improvements to deliver the next wave of innovation in thermal design and accommodate the impressive NVIDIA Ampere architecture.

A new shroud with metal accents encompasses a trio of Axial-tech fans that have been tuned to fulfill specialist roles. The central fan leverages a full-height barrier ring and 13 fan blades that provide boosted static pressure to drive air through the heatsink fins and onto the GPU heat spreader. The two fans on the flanks feature 11 blades and half-height barrier rings to allow for more lateral dispersion and to provide better airflow through the cooling array. Turbulence between fans is reduced thanks to a reversal of the center fan’s rotational direction.

A larger heatsink that fills most of the card’s 2.9-slot footprint was designed to leverage the increased airflow. To get heat up off the die and into the heatsink array, the surface of the heat spreader is polished with MaxContact technology, which improves smoothness at the microscopic level. The extra flatness allows for better contact with the die for enhanced thermal transfer.

Improvements are not limited to the cooling array — top-shelf capacitors, chokes and power stages effortlessly deliver hundreds of watts at a millisecond’s notice. Dubbed Super Alloy Power II, these components are soldered to the PCB using the ASUS-exclusive Auto-Extreme automated manufacturing process, ensuring smooth joints each card meets our rigorous specifications.

Also included are FanConnect II headers that allow PWM fans to be tuned based on CPU and GPU temperatures, providing extra intake or exhaust for demanding 3D tasks and compute workloads. Builders looking for a quick and simple way to adjust the card’s default behavior can flick an onboard Dual Bios switch to choose between “performance” and “quiet” profiles without software. Another ease-of-use feature is an onboard voltage-sensing circuit that monitors PSU rail voltage. The circuit is fast enough to catch any transients that result in the rail voltage dropping too low. If that happens, a red LED will light up to indicate a power supply issue, making it easier to debug the source of crashes during gameplay.

The front side of the GPU has also been buffed up. An addressable RGB element can be customized with Armoury Crate software, and the Strix’s reinforced metal frame adds a literal layer of durability.

Flipping the card around reveals a metal backplate with a wide vent. The vent allows hot air to escape towards chassis exhaust fans instead of being recycled back into the GPU cooler. Beneath the GPU, a bracket provides consistent mounting pressure between die and heat spreader. Stainless steel is used for the I/O bracket to protect ports and provide a more secure mount.

The sum of all the design improvements found on the ROG Strix GeForce RTX 30 Series GPUs results in a massive leap forward in thermal design. Paired with the outstanding performance of NVIDIA Ampere architecture, gamers now have access to fresh experiences, from insane frame rates in competitive titles, to smooth high-res gameplay in immersive AAA games.

ASUS announces ROG Strix, TUF Gaming and Dual NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series Graphics Cards

TUF Gaming: Built TUF

The TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 30 series has been stripped down and built back up to provide more robust power and cooling. A new all-metal shroud houses three powerful axial-tech fans that utilize durable dual ball fan bearings. Fan rotation has been optimized for reduced turbulence, and a stop mode brings all three fans to a halt at low temps. Beneath, independent heatsinks for the GPU and memory keep thermals under tight control.

In-line with the TUF Gaming legacy, components are selected based on their durability and performance. In addition to top-shelf chokes and MOSFETs, capacitors that meet military-grade certification make the TUF stand tall amongst the competition. The Auto-Extreme automated manufacturing process ensures components are placed and attached accurately. And, to ensure flawless performance when it counts, the cards are subjected to a grueling 144-hour validation trial.

Most of the rear is swathed in a protective metal backplate that prominently features a wide vent. The vent allows hot air to escape towards chassis exhaust fans instead of being recycled back into the GPU cooler. Beneath the GPU, a bracket provides consistent mounting pressure between the die and heat spreader. Stainless steel is used for the I/O bracket to protect ports and provide a more secure mount. A conveniently placed Dual Bios switch allows customization of the card’s default performance profile without software.

For a builder looking for a new “old faithful,” this card has their back.

ASUS Dual: 2X Fans. 2X Fun.

Delivering the latest NVIDIA Ampere architecture experience in its purest form, the ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 3070 melds performance and simplicity like no other. Leveraging advanced cooling technologies derived from flagship graphics cards, the Dual opts for substance over style, the perfect choice for a well-balanced build.

ASUS announces ROG Strix, TUF Gaming and Dual NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series Graphics Cards

A clean shroud matches the aesthetic of workstations and decked out gaming rigs alike. Two tried-and-true Axial-tech fans provide ample airflow and the fans come to a halt automatically at low temperatures.

Auto-Extreme Technology reduces thermal strain on components and avoids the use of harsh cleaning chemicals, resulting in less environmental impact, and lower manufacturing power consumption. An aluminum backplate and stainless steel I/O bracket help protect the PCB from unwanted flex.

For gamers, content creators, and enthusiasts who want a robust plug-and-play experience, the ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 3070 is ready.

AVAILABILITY

The ROG Strix, TUF Gaming, and Dual NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series graphics cards will be available starting from September 2020 in North America.
