Qualcomm launches Snapdragon 8cx GEN 2 Compute Platform with 5G support

0

Back at the end of 2018, Qualcomm announced their Snapdragon 8cx mobile chip for laptops with low power draw and better performance, however, we haven’t seen a lot of them in the market, and which are there come at an insane price point. In fact, Snapdragon 8cx was the first 7nm compute chip even before AMD launched its own, although Qualcomm’s chip is based on the ARM platform.

One of the biggest reasons why Snapdragon 8cx was not a hit at the market is because of the fact that Windows 10 has not been heavily optimized for ARM chips, even though Microsoft is working on that, various app developers haven’t taken this seriously. So, a lot of Windows 10 on ARM laptops haven’t been able to make an impact to the customers, but things have rapidly changed, even Apple is going “all ARM” with their new chips.

Now, in the meantime at IFA 2020, Qualcomm has announced its next-gen Snapdragon 8cx GEN 2 Compute Platform with 5G and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity. As Qualcomm rightly stated the fact that the pandemic has raised the demand for powerful and efficient notebooks, people are hunting for good laptops in the market that can last long, it is due to this Intel recently launched their Tiger Lake CPUs.

Qualcomm launches Snapdragon 8cx GEN 2 Compute Platform with 5G support

On the other hand, the new Snapdragon 8cx GEN 2 promises a lot of improvements over the last-gen and comes with some unique features. The Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 5G delivers 18% better performance and 39% better productivity performance per Watt than the Intel 10th gen 15 W Core i5 CPU.

The Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 5G compute platform aims to transform the PC user experience with high-speed connectivity, enhanced audio and camera technology, AI acceleration, and enterprise-grade security features. It offers 5G connectivity through both Sub-6 GHz and 5G mmWave along with the support for Wi-Fi 6.

The new 5G chipset supports a clear audio experience by utilizing Qualcomm Aqstic echo cancellation and noise suppression (ECNS) technology. It comes equipped with a Qualcomm Spectra ISP that enables mobile camera technology, with up to 4K HDR and support for up to 32 MP camera, along with cutting-edge video conferencing and live streaming capabilities. It even supports dual 4K displays through a single Type C cable to a dock

The chip will use Qualcomm AI Engine that brings support to AI accelerated experiences on the PC and deliver breakthrough AI performance with extreme power efficiency. The platform’s efficient AI processing also enables developers to innovate across the Windows ecosystem. It also promises security and manageability for enterprises, small businesses, and education.

The Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 5G compute platform is expected to be in commercial devices in late 2020.

Cortex-R82: 64-bit Real-time processor announced by ARM

0

Arm has recently announced the latest Cortex-R82, that implements Armv8-R AArch64-architecture. It is said to be its highest performance real-time processor.

The Cortex-R82 supports advanced Single Instruction Multiple Data (SIMD), under Arm’s Neon technology. It can increase the speed of applications like machine learning while accelerating the signal processing algorithms and its functions.

Back in 2016, Arm proposed its R8 which was to be extensively used in 5G connectivity solutions. The R8 CPUs however had an addressing limit of 32-bit 4gb memory.

But modern products are making it necessary to incorporate larger memory addressing. With modern SSD’s using up to 2 Gb of DRAM, it nearly comes close to addressing the limitations of the 32-bit R8 series.

The Cortex-R82 is said to address this issue, by supporting memory addressing up to 1Tb DRAM and the new design is said to increase the performance by two folds over the R8 while using a wider address space of 1Tb.

The main focus in Arm’s new release is the inclusion of neon technology for SIMD processing. The inclusion neon technology is said to allow SSD-controller designers more flexibility to their designs.

Features:

Cortex-R82 four-core cluster5nm
Maximum clock frequencyAbove 1.8GHz
Performance3.41 / 4.32 / 8.67 DMIPS/MHz*
5.82 CoreMark/MHz**
Total area (including Cluster, Cores, RAM and routing)From 2.0mm2***
EfficiencyFrom 30 DMIPS/mW***

The Cortex R82 is expected to deliver efficient parallel computation on data itself when implemented on SSD based on NVMe or NVMe-oF specifications or CXL architecture.

According to Arm, Cortex-R82 can implement up to 8 cores, and the extra computing power will allow it to support a complete Linux distro directly inside the storage drive.

Arm reports that Cortex-R is already supporting more than 85% of current storage solutions, so incorporating R822 will be a big boost in speed and performance.

Currently, not much details about the micro-architecture of R82 are known, but as it uses Armv8-R architecture, we can expect it to be a major and much-needed upgrade over the 32-bit R8 microprocessor.

Top 6 Tech Heads who faced Twitter account hacks before

0

Day by day our engagements with the internet world are increasing rapidly. The main benefit of this network is communication, which is already fulfilled primarily and developing towards the next levels. In this global pandemic, we can’t imagine a day without the internet. The maximum of the ongoings works will stop otherwise. But, behind the scene, the priority of cybersecurity is growing exponentially. Though it’s stronger than earlier, the bitter truth is nothing in the world is fully efficient and perfect. As a result, several cyber hacking news comes out to us frequently as they look for the vulnerabilities and use those to fulfill demands or other purposes.

One of the most recent examples is Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s twitter account hack. Hope you know, Twitter is the most popular microblogging site. All the renowned personalities, companies use this platform for official announcements, share their words with the world, and more. So many protests have also done here. This is one of the major platforms to reach out to the world easily, hackers, maximum time, targeted Twitter accounts, and that also of globally famous voices. Here are some of the Tech Heads who compromised their Twitter accounts earlier:

1. Jack Dorsey

Jack Dorsey_TechnoSports.co.in

In case you don’t familiar with this name and face, this guy is the co-founder and CEO of Twitter. Yes., his own account was also affected by hackers twice on his own platform. Firstly, in 2016 a hacker group called themselves OurMine Team hacked his account. As per the group, their intention was just to inform others that no one is safe.

Around three years later, in August 2019 Dorsey’s account was again hacked by Chuckle Squad. They took over Dorsey’s account and posted several offensive messages. Around one and a half hour later Twitter tweeted that “the account is secure, and there is no indication that Twitter’s systems have been compromised”.

2. Mark Zuckerberg

Mark Zuckerberg_TechnoSports.co.in

The founder and CEO of Facebook remain in the target list of hackers back in 2016. OurMine Team, who hacked Jack Dorsey’s account, also hijacked Zuck’s Twitter account as well as the Pinterest and Linkedln account. Later in a tweet, the group claimed that they got the password from the Linkedin dump. Also to let you know, this password dump, made up with nearly 117 million user’s data, was stollen around a month earlier than the twitter hack.

3. Ratan Tata

Ratan Tata_TechnoSPorts.co.in

Ratan TATA is an Indian industrialist and former chairman of TATA Sons. In September of the year 2016, his Twitter account was hacked for a day. When recovered, he tweeted, “Shocked that my Twitter account was hacked yesterday and a spurious malicious was wrongly attributed to me. This spurious tweet has now been deleted and my Twitter account restored. I regret the inconvenience that this malicious and wrongful action may have caused,”

4. Bill Gates

Bill Gates_TechnoSports.co.in

Well, this is a fresh one. A month earlier, in July the Twitter account of the Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates was hacked. The platform authority didn’t disclose much regarding the hack, but it was visible that the hacker(s) tweeted asking the followers to send $1,000 in bitcoins in 30 minutes and they will return double of that.

5. Elon Musk

Elon Musk surpassed Mark Zuckerberg in the Billionaires list with $115 billion__TechnoSports.co.in
by – fortune

In this July Twitter hack, besides Bill Gates, the Tesla CEO was also there. The exact same happened to him too. Apart from this, there was a hack in October 2018. In this case, neither Musk’s account was involved nor he himself. Actually took over so many verified accounts, change the name and pictures as of Elon Musk. Then proceed with their bitcoin scams.

6. Jeff Bezos

Jeff Bezos_TechnoSports.co.in

He is also included in the fresh victim list of July 2020. Bezos’s account was also hacked by the same group of hackers who took over Bill Gates and Elon Musk’s account along with some other famous personalities.

Two new Ryzen 5 4500U powered laptops get price cuts on Amazon India

0

A handful of AMD Ryzen 4000U powered laptops are in India and its due to their high demand that their prices have been fluctuating so much. AMD has admitted the fact that they are facing availability issues due to the unprecedented sales, so a lot of new laptops haven’t even made its way to India, and the ones there are either getting out of stock or getting extraordinary price hikes.

I have always kept the track of these Ryzen powered laptops and I’ve spotted two new laptops that have received a sweet discount recently and here are the two of them:

Acer Swift 3

Two new Ryzen 5 4500U laptops get price cut on Amazon India

This is one of the first Ryzen 4000U powered laptops in India and has been there for quite some time now, however, it was retailing for Rs. 66k and now its finally retailing for Rs. 62k and many people who had been looking for a great laptop in that Rs.60k price range can find the laptop to be a good option.

  • Display: 14″ display with IPS (In-Plane Switching) technology, Full HD 1920 x 1080, high-brightness Acer ComfyView LED-backlit TFT LCD
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 4500U hexa-core processor with max turbo up to 4.0Ghz | RAM: 8 GB of onboard LPDDR4 system memory
  • Graphics: AMD Radeon Graphics
  • Storage : 512 GB, PCIe Gen3 8 Gb/s up to 4 lanes, NVMe SSD | OS : Windows 10 Home 64-bit
  • Battery life: Battery life up to 12 hours | Thickness: 15.9mm

Overall this is a great mid-range laptop with the powerful Ryzen 5 4500U, decent display, and long battery life. I feel this laptop can do the job for a lot of people and it’s much better than the Core i5 options in that price range.

If you need a good work laptop or if you are a student and need a good laptop for compiling codes or doing day to day stuff, this is a great option, however, do note the RAM is soldered, so you will be stuck with 8GB for rest of the future.

Asus VivoBook Flip 14

Two new Ryzen 5 4500U laptops gTwo new Ryzen 5 4500U laptops get price cut on Amazon Indiaet price cut on Amazon India

One of the most promising new laptop has got to be the Asus VivoBook Flip 14 which is a 2-in-1 laptop powered by the new Ryzen 4000 APUs. Asus has launched 3 variants of the laptop ranging from Ryzen 3 4300U to Ryzen 7 4700U. However, the Ryzen 5 4500U is a good option because of the stronger processor and graphics and can use the 8GB RAM onboard RAM.

  • 14-inch LED-backlit Full HD (1920 x 1080) display
  • 8GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM | 512GB SSD
  • AMD Ryzen 5 4500U hexa-core processor with max turbo up to 4.0Ghz with integrated AMD Radeon RX Vega 6 Graphics
  • Windows 10 Home (64bit) operating system
  • 3-cells 50Wh lithium-polymer battery, 1.50kg laptop

I am a fan of this laptop because of the value it packs inside it, a touchscreen 2-in-1 laptop with a powerful APU, a decent build quality, upgradable RAM, and respectable battery life.

Previously, the laptop was retailing at Rs. 65k and now its Rs. 61,500 which makes the deal even better, I would strongly recommend the laptop who are looking for a powerful 2-in-1 which has good build quality and is value for money. A review of this laptop will be coming next week, so keep an eye here.

Buy from here: https://amzn.to/2F71KWh

If you have any concerns or anything to know, feel free to comment, or email us. I hope the prices of these new AMD-powered laptops will getting back to normal when more stocks come in the future and brands should bring more of them in the budget range as well.

Vivo might bring a Color-changing Phone panel

0

Before launching any handset, most of the smartphone companies focused on their device’s back colour, they always trying to introduce more attractive and colourful looks on the backside of the phone to attract buyers towards the device. Previously, we have seen many kinds of gradients like vegan, leather, transparent background, even also pure 24-karat gold background. Now on the basis of the back colour, Vivo claims that they have developed a way to customize the panel in any colour that the buyers want.

A short video is published by Vivo, which introduces us to this newest technology. The video can explain how technology does work or we can assume that what is going on. Basically the technology used by this Chinese company is based on electrochromism- a theory that allows the back glass to change its colour or opacity when voltage is applied to it. In general, the glass changes from transparent to translucent and vice-versa.

The electrochromic glass is not a new introduction in the technological field- it is a very important element in smart windows for cars and buildings. The electrochromic glass is used to control the amount of light and heat allowed to pass through a surface.

From the video, we can see that the electrochromic film is placed between two glass sheets and two transparent electrode sheets with ion storage and an ion conductor film. According to the phenomenon, when low voltage is applied the ions change their consistency then changing the light and how it bends when it passes through the electrochromic film- then it will create a different colour. This technology is low power technology, so it can not drain the battery or heat the device.

If we look at the camera setup of the phone shown in the video, we are pretty sure that the phone is Vivo S7 5G, used as a demo-unit, though the camera setup is hidden in the video by the company.

The video revealed that how does it work in real life. It will give an attractive look to your phone. The other information about this technology will introduce soon by the company.
