Reliance Jio, earlier, tried to enter into the Indian smartphone market. But later it’s focus moved to other parts of the business. In the last AGM Reliance got Google as a partner and declared to bring high-quality affordable smartphones for the needy Indians. Now, it looks like the mission is on the track.
As per a report of Bloomberg, Reliance Industries Ltd. has asked the local suppliers to increase their production capacity so that they can produce around 200 million smartphones in the next two years. People familiar with this matter told this to Bloomberg. With this road map, Reliance Industries Ltd. surely can challenge companies like Xiaomi.
Sources are saying, the Ambani team is in talks with the domestic assemblers to manufacture a new version of the Jio Phone that will run on Android and costs around Rs.4,000 ($54) only. Along with the inexpensive phones, Reliance will also bundle low-cost wireless plans too.
No doubt, with this aggressive pricing there is a high chance to establish its dominance in the Indian smartphone market very quickly, as it did earlier with the low-cost Jio plans. The company also availing government plans to build more domestic manufacturing. There is a chance that assemblers like Dixon Technologies India, Lava International, and Karbonn Mobile will face the boost.
Pankaj Mohindroo, the Chairman of the Indian Cellular & Electronics Association said to Bloomberg in an interview, “We are of course trying to build our domestic companies. We have a sweet spot in entry-level phones,”“The world has realized that India is a great place to do business and a great place to do manufacturing also.” he added further.

The Luis Suarez transfer saga has taken yet another twist. A latest news report has suggested that after the option of terminating his contract was agreed, the Barcelona president Bartomeu has blocked the transfer.
Suarez already had a clause in his contract which restricted him from moving to top clubs around the world, but it is believed that Atletico Madrid was not on that list. But now that the board has seen that there is a way to recover some funds from Suarez’s 1-year duration remaining on his contract, they plan to use that to full effect.
This development comes after the very reliable Fabrizio Romano had reported that Suarez was keen on a move to Atletico Madrid and had even agreed on a two-year contract with them.
The blocking of the transfer changes things for both Suarez and Atletico. For the former, options are now drying out and he may have to contemplate staying at Barcelona without much game time.
For Atletico, they may switch their focus to signing veteran striker Edinson Cavani on a free transfer, given the striker profiles more or less match the same. They are forced to sign a new striker because Juventus have convinced Alvaro Morata to join them on an initial loan with an obligation to buy.
More from wiretaps about the Luis Suarez/exam story. “He does not speak a word of Italian. He does not conjugate verbs, he only speaks using the infinitive. If journalists would ask him some questions, he’d be lost. He earns €10m/year, he needs to pass this exam” 🚨 [Repubblica]
Even the earlier touted move of Suarez to Juventus now seems like a dead-end, considering the latest update is that he has failed his Italian language required for his passport acquirement.
Another rumour early in the market was to make a return to his old club Ajax for a minimal fee, but even that seems to have reached a dead end. A slight chance of a return to Liverpool is also out of the question, now that Diego Jota has signed for the Reds.
So as it stands, the Uruguayan striker’s future remains bleak and is still unclear on where he will be plying his trade this season.

Rajasthan Royals management has made some radical changes in the team management that have made it more T20 specific. The team has let off with long-time opener Ajinkya Rahane. Even though Rahane played extremely well over the years, the overall strike rate has always been an issue for him. They will have the services of an experienced Robin Uthappa and IPL tested Manan Vohra to fill that spot.
Royals have also opted for many T20 specific seam bowling options like Tom Curran, Jaydev Unadkat, and Andrew Tye. The attack will be led by Jofra Archer. The spin department comprises of leg-spinners Shreyas Gopal and Rahul Tewatia.
The Rajasthan based team is now ready to start their IPL 2020 campaign today against Chennai Super Kings, who won their first match against Mumbai Indians.
As the Royals are about to start their journey today, they have now released their new anthem.
Rajasthan Royals’ principal sponsor, TV9 Bharatvarsh has come up with the new anthem with the tagline “IPL ki umang, TV9 ke sang.”
TV9 Bharatvarsh, one of India’s leading Hindi news networks, has signed up as the principal sponsor of Rajasthan Royals for IPL 2020 after Dubai Expo pulled out from the deal with Rajasthan Royals.
The Royals are ready to take the battle to the opponents’ camp.
The Chennai Super Kings started off their IPL 2020 campaign with an impressive win over defending champs Mumbai Indians. They looked the relatively weaker side, however, with proper management of resources they were able to defeat Mumbai Indians by 5 wickets.
Today they will welcome another set of men in blue as Rajasthan Royals will begin their campaign. Royals will have a daunting task ahead of them. However, it will be interesting to see how they will manage their newly forged team.
Chennai Super Kings
Super Kings seemed the relatively weaker side in the absence of Harbhajan Singh and Suresh Raina. However, captain cool MSD had many tricks up his sleeve as per managing his resources. As we covered earlier, Faf Du Plessis played an anchor role to compensate for Raina’s absence. Harbhajan’s place was filled by an equally matched, Piyush Chawla.
Both of them did a phenomenal job in their respective departments. Ambati Rayadu looked in sublime touch and scored 71 off just 48 balls. MSD played a clever strategy of promoting left-handers Ravindra Jadeja and young Sam Curran to nullify left-handed Krunal Pandya. Their cameo’s were enough to take CSK home.

Rajasthan Royals
The management has made some radical changes in the team management that have made it more T20 specific. Jos Buttler would have beeen an important asset, accompanied by the young sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal, but Buttler won’t be available today due to COVID-19 quarantine rules. There has also been a question mark on Ben Stokes’ availability, therefore, the middle-order will be lead by Steve Smith.
The bowling order, on the other hand, comprises of leg-spinners Shreyas Gopal and Rahul Tewatia. Royals have opted for many T20 specific seam bowling options like Tom Curran, Jaydev Unadkat, and Andrew Tye. The attack will be led by Jofra Archer.

Fantasy XI team
AMBATI RAYADU (9) – Ambati Rayadu is coming off a well-made 71 of just 48 balls. He will look to continue from where he left.
FAF DU PLESSIS (9)(C) – Du Plessis is coming off a match-winning fifty as well. In the absence of Suresh Raina, he’s expected to play more like an anchor depending upon the situation. He will be my captain.
SHANE WATSON(9.5) – Watson failed in the last match, however, we’ll still give him a chance.
STEVE SMITH (9.5) – Smith has struggled to make his mark as a T20 batsman. However, we all know how dangerous he can be.
SANJU SAMSON (8.5) – Samson has been really flexible for RR throughout the years. He can open in the absence of Buttler and handle middle-order in the absence of Stokes as well.
YASHASVI JAISWAL (8) – Jaiswal has handled the pressure really well. He can do it this time around as well as he makes his much-anticipated IPL debut.
RAVINDRA JADEJA (8.5) – Jadeja bowled really good in the last match and scored a quickfire cameo as well.
SAM CURRAN (8.5) (VC) – Curran bowled really well and also scored a match-winning cameo. Dhoni likes the idea of promoting him depending upon the situation. He’ll therefore be my vice-captain.
PIYUSH CHAWLA (8.5) – Chawla looked really good in the last match as well.
SHREYAS GOPAL (8.5) – Gopal is a really underrated leg-spinner and can bat as well.
JOFRA ARCHER (9.0) – Archer is one of the best bowlers out of the current lot. It will be interesting to see him.
PREDICTION
Keeping in mind the way CSK performed in their last match against MI, they will probably get the job done this around as well.
With a stunning 44 goals scored across all matches held over the weekend, matchday 2 is now in the history books. Especially because it is the highest number of goals scored over any matchday in the Premier League history (after it was reduced to 20 teams from 22 teams).
The last record number of goals scored was 43 in the 2010-11 season.
Let’s have a better look at the weekend’s action.
Results
Everton 5-2 West Brom
Leeds United 4-3 Fulham
Manchester United 1-3 Crystal Palace
Arsenal 2-1 West Ham United
Southampton 2-5 Tottenham Hotspur
Newcastle United 0-3 Brighton and Hove Albion
Chelsea 0-2 Liverpool
Leicester City 4-2 Burnley
Aston Villa 1-0 Sheffield United
Wolves 1-3 Manchester City
Match of the Week
Southampton 2-5 Spurs
Spurs were the most impressive side over the weekend, with Harry Kane assisting all four of Son’s goals over the weekend.
A shambolic performance by the Saints, followed by a consolation penalty converted by Dann Ings saved them some heat.
However, we must give credit where credit is due. And that is to Jose Mourinho’s team who put in a brilliant effort away from home.
Honorable mention: Manchester United 1-3 Crystal Palace
Nobody really expected Palace to come away with a win at Old Trafford. However, controversial VAR decisions or not, Palace came away with all 3 points.
Zaha starred with a brace against his former club as Manchester United faced a disappointing start to the season. The silver lining to the loss was Donny Van de Beek’s debut, along with his first goal in the Premier League.
Player(s) of the Week
Heung Min Son & Harry Kane
Say what you will, the duo absolutely stole the show when they decimated Southampton in their own stadium. Kane assisted 4 and scored the fifth himself whereas Son bagged in the rest of the goals against the Saints.
Despite the number of hat-tricks scored already, Son leads the top scorer race with Dom Calvert-Lewin joining him at the top.
Shockers of the Week
De Gea having to face a re-take of the penalty awarded to Palace due to him being 2 inches off his line.
Kepa letting in another howler, almost assisting Mane for his second goal.
Keiran Gibbs hitting James Rodriguez in the face to earn a straight red.
Christensen taking down Mane a-la rugby to earn a straight red.
Yves Bissouma of Brighton being shown a red card for kicking Jamal Lewis in the face. Although not intentional, but dangerous.
Despite being 35-year-old, Cristiano Ronaldo is still among the two best players in the world right now. The other player, of course, being Lionel Messi.
Ronaldo has dominated the game no matter which team he has joined. Starting with Manchester United, to Real Madrid and now to Juventus, the Portuguese is one of the greatest players to have ever played the game.
✨ The name of the best player ever is now perpetuated at our Academy ✨
In recognition of his success, talent and legendary status in world football, Sporting CP have renamed their academy, ‘Academia Cristiano Ronaldo‘.
In an official statement released by the club on their website, they stated: “It is with great honour that Sporting Clube de Portugal informs that the Clube Academy will be renamed Academia Cristiano Ronaldo.”
“The good son makes the house and the house that made Cristiano Ronaldo now welcomes his name in honour of the one who became the best Portuguese player of all time, the best player in the world, was awarded the Ballon d’Or five times and captained the national team to European Championship and Nations League success.”
“Cristiano Ronaldo joined the Leonina family in 1997 at the age of 12. On August 14, 2002, at just 17 years old, he made his senior debut against Inter.”
“The Academy will thus immortalise the name of the greatest symbol ever formed and that will be an inspiration to follow for all the youngest talents.
“On a date to be announced, and as soon as conditions permit, the club will make the official inauguration.”
Ronaldo started his career coming out of the Sporting CP academy, and joined Manchester United at the age of 18. The rest, as they say, is history.
The Portuguese has won five Ballon d’Ors, multiple Champions League titles and the league title with every club that he has been a part of.
What a way to cement his status as a legend in world football!
Sony Ericsson had released the Xperia Play in the year of 2011 and it also got some good reviews. But after that, the company has not announced any successor of that phone. Now after 9 long years, Sony has surfaced an Xperia Play 2 prototype on Alibaba’s second-hand marketplace, Idle Fish. The main highlight of the Xperia Play model was its slide-out gamepad, considering a vast improvement over the Nokia N-Gage that came out eight years prior.
According to the prototype, the Xperia Play 2 looks like a more refined and improved version than its predecessor. It shows that the upcoming device features shoulder buttons, along with a 3D button. As of now, the use of this 3D button is still not cleared, but it may have been similar to the stereoscopic effect that the 3DS achieved. These are some of the little things which are known yet about the upcoming Sony Xperia Play 2.
Smartphone gaming in this generation has been improved quite a lot. There are a huge number of high-end games on the list. So, we can assume that a device like the Xperia Play 2 could sell well today, particularly if it could tap into PlayStation Now or Xbox Game Streaming. In most of the cases, gamers feel a bit problem while using normal phone touch for gaming. That’s why external gamepads are very popular nowadays in the market. But most of the time, those gamepads fail to serve the gamer. Regarding this issue, a PlayStation-inspired smartphone could prove successful. As it will feature a sliding gamepad which is far more improved than the previous one, gamers will definitely get the feel of PlayStation gaming.
