Upcoming Snapdragon 895 & Exynos 2200 will be made out of Samsung’s 4nm node

0

It’s time for next-gen mobile chips, and all rumours surrounding it show Samsung could be the foundry that would be supplying wafers to Qualcomm and use its own 4nm node for the highly anticipated Exynos 2200 with AMD RDNA2 graphics.

Recently, we got a leak that the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 895 will be using TSMC’s 4nm Process as Lenovo executive mentioned TSMC as the supplier for Qualcomm’s chips. However, two of those tipsters believe that Qualcomm will continue using Samsung nodes to develop the next-generation Snapdragon 895 and make its own Exynos 2200.

MauriQHD has come up to say that as per his source ‘Hades’, both the Snapdragon 895 and Exynos 2200 will be using Samsung’s 4nm process node. Well, it makes sense that Samsung will make use of its own semiconductors for its chips, but doubts surrounded Qualcomm’s decision to continue using Samsung’s node or not.

Even though Samsung has made a lot of effort in terms of chip production but they aren’t the best as TSMC is a bit ahead in this department. Qualcomm’s Exynos 888 could have been even more efficient if it would have used TSMC’s N5 node rather than using Samsung’s 5nm process.

Also, Samsung would be responsible for mass producing the next-gen Snapdragon X65 5G modem using its 4nm process node, so it is safe to pre-assume that Qualcomm will most likely stay loyal to Samsung even for the Snapdragon 895.

TSMC, as we know, is not the most cost-effective option, and Samsung’s lucrative deal might again tempt the San Diego firm. Also, it could be possible that Apple might lead the race in securing the initial TSMC’s 4nm capacity and even continue investing for a 3nm process node as we, the Cupertino giant, will need more wafers opting for in-house silicon totally.

Though it is very early to judge if both Snapdragon 895 and Exynos 2200 would get adversely affected using Samsung’s 4nm technology. However, you won’t have to wait for much to see them in action as Exynos 2200 and Apple’s A15 Bionic will surely land sooner in the coming months.

VVS Laxman steps forward for state contracts for first-class cricketers

The pandemic has essentially uncovered the flaws in the BCCI’s airtight domestic cricket system, which has delivered dozens of world-class red-ball cricketers such as Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Mayank Agarwal, and Mohammed Siraj, among others. However, the stable production line is currently jeopardized because many first-class sportsmen are still without red-ball cricket and have yet to get remuneration for the Ranji Trophy 2020. VVS Laxman, the former India batsman, has advocated a local contract structure for first-class cricketers that may provide their financial security.

VVS Laxman stated, “I have been telling this for a long time, those first-class cricketers should get contracts from their state associations keeping in mind that they are sacrificing everything and they are dedicating themselves to this game. It is very important that a contract is handed over because what happens to a player if he suddenly gets injured? Suddenly there is no income for that player and if that player doesn’t have a job, then how is he going to look after himself and his family?”

VVS Laxman thinks first-class cricketers should get local contracts (picture via Outlook India)

VVS Laxman isn’t the only one who thinks this is a good idea. Several modern Indian first-class cricketers share these sentiments, but they refuse to comment on the record. Three cricketers from Karnataka, Bengal, and Gujarat agreed that a local contract for cricketers would provide them with financial security.

One of the first initiatives of BCCI President Sourav Ganguly after entering office was to emphasize domestic cricket. But, apart from IPL, he has been preoccupied with the COVID-19 pandemic and its ramifications on the upcoming tour.

BCCI pledged to come up with a compensation scheme for Ranji Trophy players during its annual general meeting, but it has yet to be implemented. The problem is exacerbated by the fact that few cricketers are hired by a state government agency, and even fewer play in the IPL, making it tough for some to make ends meet. Furthermore, not all red-ball cricketers play domestic limited-overs cricket, reducing the likelihood of earning money from white-ball match payments.

Mason Mount praises Washington Sundar and Shubman Gill as talented players

Chelsea star Mason Mount talked about his appreciation for talented Indian cricketers Shubman Gill and Washington Sundar, calling them ‘exciting’ on episode 9 of Certified Chelsea.

“I like the Indian cricket team. Whenever I have time, I watch highlights,” the 22-year-old said. “India has good, young cricketers coming through – Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar; two exciting players.”

Mount has been Chelsea’s brightest and most consistent talent this season and was awarded the 20/21 Chelsea player of the season award for his performances. The young Englishman contributed 6 goals and assists in the Premier League, and also lifted the Champions League by assisting the goal that would win them the coveted trophy.

He also acknowledged the support from Chelsea’s vast Indian fanbase on the program:

“Thank you. It means so much, especially during this difficult time. Stay strong, we will get through it and I hope to see them back at the Bridge.”

Mount came through the Chelsea academy, and much like his fellow academy graduates, spent numerous spells out on loan. He was first loaned out to Dutch club Vitesse, followed by Derby County in the Championship, and was given the opportunity to play in the first team by Frank Lampard, whom he also worked with at Derby.

While he was criticised in the beginning of his Chelsea career as being favoured by Lampard, he has silenced his haters by improving even more under Thomas Tuchel, and cementing his place in the starting lineup despite the change in management.

Apple iPad Mini 6 may come with slimmer bezels and no Home button

Apple is working on a revamped version of the iPad Mini that will feature the first design update the smaller-sized tablet has seen in six years.

The updated ‌iPad Mini‌ will feature narrower screen bezels, with Apple also testing a design that does away with the Home button. We’ve heard several prior rumors about Apple’s work on a new version of the ‌iPad Mini‌, which could feature a display that measures in at 8.5 to 9 inches, a notable increase from the current 7.9-inch display. Images of an ‌iPad Mini‌ dummy model even leaked earlier this year, though it is not clear if that dummy model was accurate as it did feature a Home button.

Reports claim that Apple is planning a new iPad Mini update for later this year. “The updated iPad Mini is planned to have narrower screen borders while the removal of its home button has also been tested,” the report explains. This would give the iPad Mini a design similar to the iPad Air 4 and the iPad Pro. The slimmer bezels would allow Apple to increase the screen size without a major impact on the overall size of the device.

It ultimately remains to be seen whether Apple ships a redesign for the iPad Mini as drastic as removing the home button, but we now know it’s at least something in testing. It certainly makes sense if Apple is looking for a way to breathe new life into its smallest iPad in 2021.

Finally, the report says that Apple is also working on a thinner version of its entry-level iPad. This could be released as early as later this year, alongside the new iPad Mini. Previous rumors have indicated that the entry-level iPad will adopt a design similar to the iPad Air 3 that was originally introduced in 2019.

Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 4G Indian pricing leaked ahead of launch

Xiaomi‘s latest and most marketed release, the Mi 11 Lite has been on their release radar for a while in India. Although, Xiaomi has released all the specs pertaining to the device the price of the device was not revealed. Fortunately, a leak from India Today has revealed the estimated price of the Mi 11 Lite.

The leak claims that Xiaomi will not be releasing the 5G variant of the Mi 11 Lite in India and will only release the Mi 11 Lite 4G for an estimated price of under 25,000 INR($342).

The reason for Xiaomi not releasing the Mi 11 Lite 5G in India could possibly be the fact that it is priced at 32,800 INR($449) in Europe and Xiaomi already has the Mi 11X 5G in India at a similar price point of 29,000 INR.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 4G variant is one of the lightest devices on the market, featuring a slim body of 6.81mm and weighing 157g. It will feature a 6.5″ AMOLED screen with FHD+ resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, a 20:9 aspect ratio, HDR 10+ and it will run on Android 11 based MIUI 12. New MacBook Pro could appear at WWDC 2021 with an M2 chip

Apple‘s upcoming WWDC 2021 is almost around the corner and as time passes the internet is becoming a hotter place. Rumors and leaks are surfacing on the internet hinting on a new Apple MacBook Pro, following a new rumor following similar recent chatter from the grapevine – and it could even be built around an M2 chip.

In a research note viewed by MacRumors, Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty claims that Apple “likely” will showcase a new MacBook at WWDC 2021, which begins shortly (June 7th).

“In the last 12 months, Apple has introduced not only new Macs (MacBook Air, MacBook Pro 13″, and the Mac Mini) with M1 but also a high end 12.9″ iPad Pro with the M1 chip,” wrote Huberty. “We expect this momentum to continue into WWDC 2021, and based on our checks, we believe it’s likely Apple launches a new MacBook featuring in-house designed silicon.”

Since Apple released the M1 MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro, users have been thirstily waiting for more Apple Silicon-based devices.

Huberty also said that there is a possibility that Apple may reveal the next iteration of Apple Silicon, the M2 chip. The analyst expressed that the new M2 CPU could be the heart of the new MacBooks and shipments and happen in the second half of 2021. The new redesigned MacBooks are rumored to be of the 14 and 16-inch variety. They will feature Mini LED displays, a magnetic power cable, an SD card slot, and the return of an HDMI port, according to a June 3 report from MacRumors.

Although Huberty’s predictions match what Apple leaker, Jon Prosser, has shared, supply chain reports from Nikkei Asia and DigiTimes lean towards mass production of the new MacBooks beginning in the second half of 2021. So there’s doubt the notebooks will be announced in the coming days at WWDC.

However, there is the possibility that the new MacBooks will be announced at WWDC, but will not ship until later this year. That would be the same process we saw happen after Apple announced the new iMac, iPad Pro, and Apple TV back in April, but didn’t start shipping until May.

Ruben Dias has been named the Premier League player of the year for the 20/21 season. The Manchester City defender joins some elite company, becoming the fourth centre-back to win the trophy after the likes of Virgil Van Dijk, Vincent Kompany and Nemanja Vidic.

The 23-year-old has also won the FWA Player of the season and has taken the country by storm in his very first season in England. His contributions at the back were crucial as Manchester City won the league once again, and also bagged the Carabao Cup along with their first-ever Champions League final appearance.

Phil Foden has been named the PFA Young Player of the Year for the campaign, with the 21-year-old finally breaking through into the first team for good. His finishing is arguably his most lethal asset, and he beats the likes of Mason Mount, Mason Greenwood and Bukayo Saka to the trophy.
