Nothing Phone(1) officially launched for Rs.32,999

Carl Pei-backed Nothing has finally released its first-ever smartphone, the Phone (1) after months of building hype and making us speculate over its specifications. The smartphone arrives with some amazing features that make it a great device at its price point. Let us take a detailed look at the specifications:

Nothing Phone(1) detailed specifications:

Above stock Android, we get some additions such as a Quick Settings Control for the brand’s own TWS earbuds, the ear(1), and another for Tesla cars, which lets the user turn on the EV’s lights or AC before you enter it. Nothing has also promised that we will get only default Android apps along with a fast and smoother experience. For those into NFTs, you get a home screen widget that will showcase your entire NFT collection!

In terms of battery life, we get a 4,500mAh one with support for 33W wired charging, the phone can go from 0 to 100 in just 70 minutes, 15W wireless charging support that will fully charge your phone in 120 minutes, and 5W reverse charging as well.

The smartphone has an IP53 rating for splash resistance and you will need to purchase a charger separately as the retail box does not include one. The 45W charger is priced at EUR 35 or Rs.2,499.

The primary selling point of this smartphone is the design along with its ‘Glyph Interface’ LEDs which are over there and are placed next to functional areas of the phone which display the necessary information. When you charge the phone, you have a progress indicator and when you are reverse wireless charging, you get an indicator for that as well along with camera lights. The LEDs sync with built-in ringtones.

The phone’s transparent design along with LED lights and multiple strips that light up when you do the most basic of activities with your phone and the wireless charging feature make the Phone(1) a rather unique smartphone at its price point. You do not see a lot of devices with all these features at this level of pricing.

In terms of pricing, Phone(1) retails for EUR 469 or Rs.32,999 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage version, EUR 499 or Rs.35,999 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB version, and EUR 549 or Rs.38,999 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB version. The top-tier version will arrive at a later date than the first two models.

The first sale for Nothing’s debut smartphone will begin on the 16th of July at 10 AM in London at a pop-up kiosk. On July 18th, it will keep ‘limited drops with partner retailers,’ followed by the first official sale on the 21st of July on the official site of the company and other partner operators.
