The Vvaan Box Office: Sidharth Malhotra-Tamannaah Bhatia Starrer Opens to a Solid Rs. 7 Crore

Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia’s fantasy thriller The Vvaan has kicked off its theatrical run on a strong note, riding a wave of cultural connect that few films manage to tap into quite this effectively.

The Vvaan: Overview

Bihar Leads the Charge

The film’s opening day numbers tell an interesting story — Bihar emerged as its single strongest market, pulling in an impressive Rs. 1 crore nett on its own. What’s even more notable is that Patna landed as the third-biggest contributing city nationwide, trailing only Mumbai and Delhi-NCR, a rare feat for any Hindi film’s opening weekend.

This strong regional pull isn’t a coincidence. The Vvaan is set against the backdrop of Chhath Puja, one of the most significant festivals in the Bhojpuri belt, giving the film a genuine emotional and cultural hook with audiences in Bihar and among the sizeable Bihari diaspora in cities like Mumbai and Delhi.

A Promising Start, But Challenges Ahead

For a film made on a controlled budget, this opening puts The Vvaan in a genuinely favorable position. However, trade indicators suggest some caution is warranted — Saturday’s advance bookings aren’t tracking as high as Friday’s, which could limit the film’s growth momentum. If the film manages to hit double digits on Saturday, industry watchers believe Sunday could see a further boost given its strong connect with Hindi heartland audiences.

The bigger concern lies in the calendar. The Vvaan has effectively just one clear week in theaters before Drishyam 3 arrives next Friday, a release that could significantly dent its collections just as it’s gaining momentum. Trade experts note that an earlier release date might have given the film more breathing room to build word-of-mouth before facing that competition.

What This Means for The Vvaan’s Journey?

With a solid opening and a clear regional audience base, The Vvaan has the ingredients for a successful run — provided it can maximize its window before bigger competition arrives. The weekend trend will be the real test of whether this opening translates into sustained box office success.
