The latest eBay sale’s data shows a hopeful dip in GPU prices

The folks at ‘toms hardware have published the recent findings of their GPU pricing index tracks from all the best graphics cards as well as the latest additions to their GPU benchmarks hierarchy. They, or the sources here, have scrapped through eBay’s historical data to get details on what prices people are paying for their GPUs.

As we all know due to the sudden boom in cryptocurrency we have seen miners snatching all the GPUs making it harder for normal PC users to get their hands on any or all graphics cards in the market. and adding supply constraint over this has increased prices of the graphics cards.

However, eBay is a very important source of information because there exists a very strong correlation between eBay prices and potential Ethereum mining profits. But, for now, it seems that Ethereum’s price has mostly settled down during the past month.

and the good news is here guys, for the first time in a long time, there is a downward trend on nearly every GPU on the list of ‘toms hardware, with only the exception of the RX 6900 XT, which went up a small 1.3% since mid-May.

many believe that the main reason for the decrease in prices is due to the launch of the RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3070 Ti which is the Nvidia used against the crypto miners. Both of these cards have Nvidia’s hash rate limiter, and the 3080 Ti, in particular, had a lot of units sold on eBay since its launch.

Graphics CardAvg eBay PriceQTY SoldPrice Change
GeForce RTX 3090$3,002491-4.4%
GeForce RTX 3080 Ti$2,307621N/A
GeForce RTX 3080$1,9781114-11.5%
GeForce RTX 3070 Ti$1,40742N/A
GeForce RTX 3070$1,3001258-8.5%
GeForce RTX 3060 Ti$1,238264-12.6%
GeForce RTX 3060 12GB$874693-3.9%
Radeon RX 6900 XT$1,884931.3%
Radeon RX 6800 XT$1,487153-6.0%
Radeon RX 6800$1,260109-8.1%
Radeon RX 6700 XT$915303-5.6%

as you can see from the table above, the prices of the Graphics cards have indeed gone down and the RTX 3060 Ti, RTX 3070, and RTX 3080 have shown the biggest dip, of nearly 10% on the 3070, and over 10% on the other two cards. Since all three comes with LHR (Lite Hash rate), miners have no use purchasing these products.
