Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3: Here’s everything you can know about it

0

Qualcomm recently announced the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, which will be released in November 2022, but there are now reports that the company is planning to release its next processor, possibly dubbed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. According to a recent report, the new chipset could be released sooner than expected, possibly in the fourth quarter of 2023.

Digital Chat Station, a well-known leaker, recently revealed on Weibo, a Chinese microblogging site, that the next Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC is expected to launch in the fourth quarter of this year, earlier than its predecessor did last year. Despite the fact that it is still several months away from release, the upcoming 8 Gen 3 SoC is expected to deliver better performance while consuming less power.

According to Geekbench scores posted on a Korean tech forum, the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC will provide roughly 25% better CPU performance than the previous 8 Gen 2 SoC.

Although no details or specifications on what improvements Qualcomm is working on have been confirmed, it is certain that the upcoming processor will be built using a 3nm process. The new 3nm process is expected to provide improved performance as well as a 35% improvement in energy efficiency, which will improve battery life.

The upcoming chip will almost certainly support Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon Satellite technology, which was introduced at CES 2023. This technology allows for emergency communication even in the absence of a regular mobile signal and, in the future, basic two-way messaging.

Last week, an alleged single-core and multi-core leak of the regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 was published, showing that the SoC destroys the A16 Bionic in both tests and achieves a single-core score of 1,930. Given that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy will most likely have higher CPU and GPU clock speeds, it is not unreasonable to expect the latter to break the 2,000 single-core score barrier when running Geekbench 5.

Andrey Santos to Palmeiras collapses: Vasco da Gama potential destination till June 2023

0

Chelsea will be loaning out Andrey Santos for the remainder of the 22/23 season, being unable to get a work permit for him. There was an agreement with Palmeiras for a loan move, but a change in the details at the last minute caused the Brazilian side to pull out of negotiations.

Now, the midfielder has the opportunity to return to his former club, Vasco da Gama, who are trying to reach an agreement over a loan move. But they aren’t the only club in the race, since MLS side LAFC are also keeping tabs on the situation.

Andrey Santos to spend the latter half of 22/23 on loan

The teenager was on fire during the Sudamericano Sub-20 with Brazil, lifting the trophy as the team captain. He was one of the standout performers of the tournament, earning the top scorer award alongside his teammate Vitor Roque, both scoring six goals.

Andrey Santos has been compared to Casemiro and Jude Bellingham for his tenacity and all-round performance in midfield. And he could be a great addition to Chelsea’s midfield for the new season, when he gets his work permit.

But for now, he will be developing with another team away from England. Whether it will be with Vasco da Gama or LAFC, or another club altogether, is what remains to be seen.

Intel gives his official stand on the release of 3nm process CPUs

0

Pat Gelsinger, Intel’s CEO, addressed rumours this week that the CPU giant was delaying products made using the company’s own Intel 3 and TSMC’s N3 (3nm-class) fabrication technologies. The CEO reiterated that all 3nm projects announced thus far would be released in 2024.

Intel has revealed three products that will be manufactured using 3nm class manufacturing technologies

Internally, the company plans to manufacture its datacenter-focused Granite Rapids and Sierra Forest processors on the Intel 3 node. This fabrication process is essentially a refined version of Intel 4, but with higher drive currents, lower via resistance, and denser high-performance libraries. All of these characteristics are especially advantageous for datacenter-class processors, though reduced via resistance should be beneficial for mobile CPUs as well.

Intel has only revealed two products that will be manufactured on its 3nm-class node internally.

Things get a little more complicated with external 3nm projects. According to a slide that Intel has shown several times, Intel is set to use TSMC’s N3 for a graphics tile of its client processors codenamed Meteor Lake and Arrow Lake due in 2023 and 2024.

According to a market research firm, Intel decided to postpone production of Meteor Lake’s graphics tile on TSMC’s N3 process in August 2022. Intel did not comment on any specific 3nm-based projects at the time, but did state that Meteor Lake would be available in 2023.

The company now claims that its Arrow Lake product, which consists of a compute tile produced on Intel’s 20A (2nm-class) node and a graphics tile produced on TSMC’s N3E, is on schedule for 2024. Given that TSMC will have gained extensive experience with its 3nm-class process technologies by the time Arrow Lake CPUs are released, it is unlikely that Intel will decide to delay Arrow Lake due to issues with TSMC’s N3/N3E.

Apple 2024 iPad Pro models to get OLED Displays from Samsung and LG Display

Apple has reportedly started ordering OLED panels from LG Display and Samsung for its next-generation iPad Pro models, which are expected to be released next year. According to Business Korea, Apple has placed orders with the two display companies for the development of 10.9-inch and 12.9-inch OLED panels, while rival Chinese display maker BOE has lost out.

Apple has not yet finalised the order volume of OLED displays for the iPad Pro, but the order may be split evenly between the two Korean factories.

According to display analyst Ross Young, who has a good track record for Apple rumours, Apple is developing 11.1-inch and 13-inch OLED iPad Pro models that will be released in the first quarter of 2024. Apple plans larger 11.1-inch and 13-inch screen sizes for the OLED iPad Pro models, with potentially slimmer bezels, rather than a change in overall device size.

Apple currently sells a 12.9-inch mini-LED iPad Pro and an 11-inch iPad Pro with a traditional LCD display, as mini-LED has been reserved for the more expensive iPad Pro models.

Apple may restore feature parity between the two iPad Pro models with the 2024 update.

There is also uncertainty about the timing of Apple’s planned new MacBook models with OLED displays. According to today’s reports, new OLED 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models will be available in 2026. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, a new MacBook Pro with an OLED display could be released in 2025, making it the first touchscreen Mac.

Separately, Young claims that Apple is preparing a 13-inch MacBook Air with an OLED display for release as early as next year when the OLED iPad Pro models are expected. Ming-Chi Kuo, an Apple supply chain analyst, predicts that the first MacBook with an OLED display will be released next year.

Erik Ten Hag’s 19th substitute goal of 22/23: Man United returning to their former glory

0

Erik Ten Hag is restoring the glory to Manchester United one game at a time, and their 2-1 win against Barcelona in the Europa League was a milestone achievement of the season.

The match-winning goal came from Antony, who was subbed on at half time for Wout Weghorst. The first half display was quite lacklustre from the Premier League side, and the change allowed Antony to move into his preferred right-wing spot. Marcus Rashford moved to the number 9 spot, while Bruno Fernandes moved to the number 10 role and Jadon Sancho moved out to the left.

Erik Ten Hag hits impressive new milestone for 22/23

Antony scoring against Barcelona was the 19th time that a substitute has scored for Manchester United this season – the most of Europe’s top five leagues.

While Wout Weghorst was expected to be the target man striker that he is so obviously made out to be – Ten Hag has used the Dutchman as a number 10 often. And this has allowed Marcus Rashford to take the goalscoring role in the team, which he has taken on so prominently.

Alejandro Garnacho, Anthony Martial, and Jadon Sancho are among the other players who have scored after coming off the bench for the Red Devils.

The other teams closest to United’s tally of 19 are Napoli and Villarreal, with 17 goals from substitutes each. Barcelona are second with 14, but are quite a few goals away from United.

Erik Ten Hag has managed to restore United’s reputation of substitutes winning the game late for the team. He will have the chance to end their drought for silverware next with the EFL Cup final coming up on Sunday against Newcastle United.
