OnePlus owners in India can try the next big software update early. An open beta for ColorOS 17 is being offered for five phones, with registration open for a short window from October 9 to October 12. The global launch of ColorOS 17 in India is set for October 13.
Before you tap enrol, read the details below. Beta software can be unstable, and going back is not painless. Our ColorOS 17 tag page has more on the update as news arrives.
Eligible Phones and Required Builds
| Phone | Model code | Required build |
|---|---|---|
| OnePlus 15 | CPH2745 | 16.0.10.500(EX01) or 16.0.10.601(EX01) |
| OnePlus 15R | CPH2767 | 16.0.10.500(EX01) or 16.0.10.600(EX01) |
| OnePlus 13 | CPH2649 | 16.0.10.501(EX01) or 16.0.10.600(EX01) |
| OnePlus 13R | CPH2691 | 16.0.10.500(EX01) or 16.0.10.600(EX01) |
| OnePlus 13s | CPH2723 | 16.0.10.500(EX01) |
Only unbranded units sold in India are supported. Phones bought through carrier or special-edition channels may not qualify. Your phone must already be on one of the builds above before it can join.
How to Join the ColorOS 17 Open Beta
The process is built into the phone’s settings. First, go to Settings and open About device. Second, tap the Up to date banner at the top. Third, tap the three-dot menu in the corner. Fourth, choose Beta program. Finally, follow the on-screen prompts to register during the October 9 to 12 window.

Back up your data first. Keep at least 30% battery and 4GB of free storage so the download and install can finish. Expect bugs, slower battery life or app problems, as is usual with early builds. The most important warning is about rolling back: returning to the stable version formats your storage, so anything not backed up will be lost.
How to Report Bugs
Beta programs depend on user feedback. You can send bug reports by dialing *#800# or by going to Settings, then Help and feedback. Include clear steps and screenshots where possible, since that is what helps engineers fix problems quickly.
What Is Not Confirmed
The source does not list ColorOS 17 features, so we cannot say what changes to expect. There is also no word yet on a wider rollout schedule for other OnePlus models. Details of the stable release should come with the October 13 launch, and you can follow the brand on the official OnePlus India site.
Should You Install the Beta?
If this is your only phone and you rely on it for work, banking or payments, waiting for the stable build is the safer choice. If you have a spare device or enjoy testing, the beta is a way to see the new software first and to help shape it. Either way, remember that registration closes on October 12.

What to expect next: ColorOS 17 arrives on October 13, and that date will show how much of the beta carries into the final release. OnePlus phones in India have used OxygenOS-branded software for years, so a ColorOS-based experience is a notable shift for many owners. If you plan to join, set aside time to test your daily apps, such as banking, messaging and camera, and report anything that breaks. Early testers often get fixes in later beta builds, and your feedback may help other owners who wait for the stable version. If anything feels unstable, remember that you can leave the program, but only by accepting the storage wipe described above, so a full backup is not optional.
Also check your phone’s update history before you start. If it is not already on one of the required builds, install the pending stable update first and then try the Beta program option again.
