OnePlus 15 OxygenOS 16 Update: 4 New Features in a 169MB Download

OnePlus 15 owners have a new software update waiting. A screenshot of the Software update page shows an OxygenOS 16 update marked “Update available” for the OnePlus 15, and it is a small one: a download of just 169.24 MB. The changelog is short too, but it adds a few useful touches, from smarter storage cleanup to new Quick Settings shortcuts and a better Weather app.

What Is New in This OnePlus 15 Update

The “About this update” section lists changes under three headings: Phone Manager, System and Weather. None of them is a headline redesign, but together they make everyday use a little smoother.

Smarter storage cleanup. Phone Manager now offers category-based cleanup for large, old, duplicate and document files. If your storage is filling up with old downloads or repeated copies of the same file, you can now review them by category instead of digging through folders. The update says you can find it in Phone Manager, then Storage cleanup, then Files.

New Quick Settings shortcuts. You can now add “System boost” and “Virus scan” shortcut icons to Quick Settings. Tap either one to jump straight to the feature, which saves a few taps when you want to clean up the phone or run a quick check.

Better stability. Under System, the changelog says only that it improves system stability. OnePlus does not say which issues are fixed, so treat this as general polish rather than a specific bug-fix list.

A richer Weather homepage. The Weather app homepage now features a line chart showing multi-day weather trends, which makes it easier to track temperature changes at a glance. The screen notes that some apps have already been updated or uninstalled, so the Weather change shown below that line is “for your reference only”.

Should You Install It?

At 169.24 MB, the download is small, so it should not take long on a normal connection. The update screen also carries OnePlus’s usual notes: in general, upgrading the system will not delete or modify your data, but for your security you are advised to back up important data before you upgrade. Following that advice costs a few minutes and protects photos, chats and files if anything goes wrong.

A sensible routine is to connect to Wi-Fi, keep the phone charged, back up what matters, and then tap “Download & install”. If you rely on the phone for work, install it when you do not urgently need the device for an hour or so.

How to Check for the Update

Open Settings, go to the software update section, and look for the OxygenOS 16 update for your OnePlus 15. OnePlus updates often reach phones in stages, so if you do not see it yet, check again after a day or two. What Is Not Confirmed

The screenshots do not show which regions are getting this build, the Android security patch level, or whether the rollout is staged. The changelog also does not explain what “improves system stability” covers. We will update this article if OnePlus shares more details.
