Carol Ferris Finally Joins the DCU — But Not With the Actress You Remember

Green Lantern fans just got a nostalgic surprise. Carol Ferris, the character Blake Lively played opposite Ryan Reynolds back in 2011, has officially entered James Gunn’s DCU — though this time, a new actress is stepping into the role, and her appearance hints at a much bigger story waiting to unfold.

Carol Ferris’ Quiet But Meaningful DCU Debut

In Lanterns Episode 6, “Bad Optics,” actress Amie Mackenzie introduced Carol Ferris to the DCU for the first time. Her role was brief: after learning of Hal Jordan’s death, Carol travels to Rushville for his funeral, where she crosses paths with John Stewart. She hands him a speech to read at the service, only for it to be revealed that Hal himself had written it, not Carol.

Though her screen time was limited, the exchange strongly hints at a deep, unspoken history between Carol and Hal, echoing the emotional core of their comic book relationship.

From Blake Lively to Amie Mackenzie

Fans of Ryan Reynolds’ 2011 Green Lantern film will instantly recognize the name. In that movie, Blake Lively played Carol as a major character, serving as Ferris Aircraft’s vice president and playing a central role in the film’s plot. This new DCU version takes a noticeably smaller, more mysterious approach.

Could Carol Become Star Sapphire?

In DC Comics, Carol Ferris eventually gains cosmic powers and becomes Star Sapphire, an entity that exists as a separate consciousness from Carol herself, unaware of her own alter ego. Whether the DCU plans to adapt that arc remains unclear, but her subtle introduction leaves the door wide open for a much bigger role down the line, especially depending on how Hal Jordan’s storyline develops going forward.

For now, Carol’s DCU appearance feels more like a seed planted for future payoff than a fully realized character arc.
