Realme has again launched another new smartphone series in China yesterday. The smartphones of this new series are named as Realme X50 and Realme X50 Master edition, and these are the first 5G smartphones from the brand. Both the smartphones feature a punch hole designed dual-camera setup at the front, just like the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus. Apart from this, there are many more exciting features in this device.

Both the Realme X50 5G and the Realme X50 5G Master Edition packs in more or less the same feature, whereas the latter only comes in a single storage option and premium design. The Realme X50 5G comes with 6.67 inches FHD+ full view display with the most recent 120Hz refresh rate on it. The display panel has a punch hole cut out where it accommodates the dual front camera of the device. It has a screen-to-body ratio of 90.4 percent and an aspect ratio of 20:9.

CES 2020: Samsung 980 PRO PCIe gen 4.0 M.2 NVMe SSD announced

In 2019, when the Ryzen 3000 CPUs were announced with PCIe gen 4 support, most of the motherboard manufacturers enabled the PCIe gen 4 SSD support. We saw many of the SSD makers like Corsair, Gigabyte develop the newer and faster SSDs for customers.

We know that Samsung is one of the key manufacturers of SSDs, so at CES 2020, the Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD has been announced. This will be the first consumer-oriented SSD to feature PCIe gen 4 and the SSD looks alike to Samsung’s 900 series M.2 SSDs.

The Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD has 6500 MB/s read speed and 5000 MB/s write speed, a huge upgrade from the last generation. Currently, we see PCIe 4.0 drives using the Phison E16 controller and by the end of this year, we can expect the Phison E18 controller and other controllers offering sequential speeds around 7GB/s.

With the Samsung 980 PRO, we can expect high transfer speeds if used with a PCIe gen 4 motherboards and a Ryzen 3000 CPU. Both content creators and gamers can take benefit using the latest gen of M.2 NVMe SSD.

The SSD will have storage options from 250GB to 1TB, for now, Samsung has not disclosed the V-NAND generation being used or any details on the controller and eventually the price and availability.

Cricket lovers in India and around the world are already eagerly looking forward to the 2020 IPL. Scheduled to begin on 29th March 2020, fans will be hoping for another exciting season with plenty of runs and wickets. Of course, another gripping final like the 2019 match between Mumbai Indians and CSK would also be welcome!

March 2020 still seems a way off for cricket fans but the good news is that there is always a game going on somewhere around the world before then. The other thing you could do is to look ahead to which teams stand a good chance of winning the IPL when it does start.

But who should you keep an eye on in this year’s IPL?

Mumbai Indians

The sensible place to start is with the team who won it last season that has also won it on three occasions before that. When you look at their line-up for 2020 now that the auctions have taken place, they appear to be a strong team once again. When you look at their 2020 squad, there seems to be a good mix of talent in there for the team to have a great year. Last season’s runners-up (by 1 run!) surely must be in with a shout again this year. The stats certainly back this up as they have never finished below 3^rd in the IPL’s history. That has included not only three titles but also multiple runners up spots. They were in great form last year and dominated on their way to a very slight loss in the final. That narrow defeat should give them plenty of motivation to go one better in 2020. With Sam Curran and Piyush Chawla joining them this time around, they could be a tough side to beat.

Achraf Hakimi has been named as the African Youth Player Of The Year for the second successive time.

The CAF awards were held in Hurghada, Egypt on Tuesday. Real Madrid full-back Achraf Hakimi, who is currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund has been named as the 2019 African Youth Player Of The Year for the second successive time.

The 21-year-old Moroccan international has beaten off competition from Nigeria’s Samu Chukwueze (Villarreal) and Victor Osimhen (Lille).

Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has won the 2019 African Player Of The Year. While Barcelona women’s team player, Asisat Oshoala won the 2019 African Women’s Player Of The Year.

Achraf Hakimi has become a vital player for Borussia Dortmund since joining 18 months ago. This season, the Moroccan has scored six goals and assisted six others in 26 appearances. He has been a threat going forward. He is not shy of making dangerous runs down the flank.

Hakimi, a veteran of 28-time international matches, was also part of the Morocco squad that made a run to the AFCON round of 16. He was also named in the 2019 African Best XI.

Sadio Mane has been named as the 2019 African Player Of The Year

Sadio Mane has beaten previous two-times Champions Salah to the 2019 African Player Of The Year award.

The CAF awards were held in Hurghada, Egypt on Tuesday. Sadio Mane has won the 2019 African Player Of The Year. He has edged Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah – winner in 2017 and 2018 – and Algeria attacker Riyad Mahrez – winner in 2016 – to the prestigious award.

The winner was chosen by votes from head coaches/technical directors and captains of the senior national teams from CAF’s member associations.

Mane is only the second Senegalese to win the award after El Hadji Diouf, who was the winner in 2001 and after joining Liverpool in 2002.

It is the second successive year that the top three are all from English clubs and only the third time since the award was introduced that the leading trio all play in the same league. In 1991, the top three all came from French clubs.

Mane said after receiving the award from the four-time winner Samuel Eto’o: “To be honest I would prefer to be playing football than speaking in front of so many people. I’m really happy and really proud at the same time. I would like to thank my family, especially my uncle who is here today. It is a big day for me and I would love to thank all the Senegalese people who have been voting for me. I’m from a very small village called Bambali and I’m sure they are all watching me tonight.”

Mane was given tough competition by Mohamed Salah and Riyad Mahrez.
The Egyptian won the award in 2017 and 2018. He was third in 2016. He was also instrumental in Liverpool’s recent successes. While Mahrez captained Algeria to Africa Cup of Nations success in July and won the Premier League with Manchester City. He was African Footballer of the Year in 2016.

But Mane deservedly won the award this year. It was a successful calendar year for the 27-year-old as he ended the 2018-19 season by winning the Champions League and Premier League Golden Boot award.

Mane also guided Senegal to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations in the summer before returning to claim more honours with Jurgen Klopp’s side. After scoring twice in the UEFA Super Cup triumph over Chelsea, Mane then delivered the assist for Roberto Firmino’s goal that won Liverpool the FIFA Club World Cup for the very first time.

Asisat Oshoala won the 2019 African Women’s Player Of The Year. She plays for Barcelona’s women team and was delighted to be recognised. She wrote on Twitter: “Grateful to be African Women’s Player of the year for the 4th time. Thank God, my Family, Friends and Fans for the support. Big shoutout to my club, my management, teammates at both national team and club level and of course thanks to @CAF_Online for the opportunity.”

Gaming laptops have never been that much innovation in the past years, yes, they have lost weight in 2019 and we have seen some thin gaming laptops, but this year ASUS takes this up to a new level. ASUS has been innovative about their gaming laptop brand ROG or Republic of Gamers.

This CES 2020 made a mind-blowing start with AMD launching their first-ever 7nm Ryzen 4000 mobile processors including their dedicated H-series of gaming processors for laptops.

ASUS joined hands with AMD to make the custom Ryzen 7 4800HS which draws lesser power and will exclusively be available on its gaming laptops. The new ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 gaming laptop is the first one to feature this SoC along with NVIDIA RTX graphics.

The Zephyrus G14 is just 17.9 millimetres thick and weighs just 3.5 pounds i.e. 1.6Kg only, just a bit heavier than standard ultra-portable notebooks. The most unique thing that you’ll notice about this laptop is the ASUS’ AniME LED Matrix at the back of the laptop.

This is a set of programmable 1,215 mini LEDs on the cover which can display whatever pixelated image or text you’d like to and can show animated GIFs as well.

The laptop features a 14-inch display, which you can choose from a 1080p 120Hz panel or a 1440p screen at 60Hz. The laptop’s display also supports AMD’s FreeSync technology that synchronizes the framerate and the refresh rate. It features really thin bezels, creating an 85% screen-to-body ratio that makes these screens feel larger.

The Ryzen 7 4800HS features a base clock of 2.9GHz and a boost of 4.2GHz along with 12MB cache. We see 7CUs of Vega graphics with 1600MHz which is lower than we saw in the AMD Ryzen 7 4800U.

The Ryzen 7 4800HS, which is the ASUS-exclusive is said to be made by ASUS and AMD together helping to deliver the full 45W performance and frequency but in a 35W envelope.

On the graphics front, the laptop features up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 discrete graphics. Ironically, the integrated Radeon Vega graphics in the Ryzen CPU helps the NVIDIA GPU work with AMD FreeSync display. The laptop is paired with up to 32 GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM along with up to 1 TB M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 SSD.

The Zephyrus G14 also feature Dolby Atmos technology and wireless networking options with Intel Wi-Fi 6 (Gig+) connectivity, also known as 802.11ax. This is the first-ever ROG laptop to feature an ErgoLift hinge that tilts the keyboard at a more comfortable angle.

If you want a bigger screen you can opt for the 15-inch Zephyrus G GA502 that weighs 4.6 pounds and features a 240Hz 1080p display, rest all the hardware features remains the same. No details regarding pricing & availability of the Zephyrus G14 and G15 has been disclosed yet.

CES 2020: Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 with Ryzen 4000 APUs is here, up to 8C/16T on slim form factor

Recently, AMD launched its powerful Ryzen 4000 mobile processors for laptops based on its revolutionary 7nm based Zen 2 architecture. The Red team announced that the new Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 would be one of the first laptops to feature the Ryzen APUs with up to 8 cores on an ultra-thin form factor.

The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 has been launched at the CES 2020 is a 14-inch FreeSync display notebook featuring a 1920×1080 IPS display. It is powered with up to the flagship 8 core/ 16 threads monster – the AMD Ryzen 7 4800U which is clocked up to 1.8GHz base clock speed and a 4.2GHz boost along with 12MB of the total cache.

The Ryzen 4000 APUs consume only 15W of TDP and the flagship Ryzen 7 4800U features 8 compute units of the Vega graphics clocked up to 1750MHz. The laptop is coupled with up to 16 GB of LPDDR4X memory and up to a 1 TB NVMe SSD.

On the ports & connectivity front, we have two USB 3.2 ports, one multi-mode Type-C port, 802.11ac WiFi, and an IR camera. The Yoga Slim 7 is truly thin as it has only 14.9 mm of thickness i.e. 0.58 inches.

The battery has got a decent upgrade, now comes with 60.7 Wh battery which Lenovo states can easily last for up to 14 hours, which would be a significant uplift in mobile battery efficiency from an AMD SoC, thanks to the 7nm process and AMD’s performance optimizations.

The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 series will be available with Intel CPUs as well, featuring up to 10th Gen Intel Ice Lake Core i7-1065G7 CPU, you can opt for optional NVIDIA MX GPU as well for the Intel laptops which is not needed if you are going with an AMD variant.

AMD at the keynote showed that the new iGPU provides +28% better GPU performance in 3D Mark Time Spy against Intel’s Core i7-1065G7. When compared in the single-threaded performance, the Ryzen 4000 processors dominate over both Ice Lake and Comet Lake.

In multi-threaded workloads, the Ryzen 7 4800U just blows Intel’s flagship Core i7-1065G7 away from the competition. So, it’s clear that AMD Ryzen 4000 powered Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 series is the perfect ultra-thin notebook which is both powerful and efficient.

Talking about the pricing, Lenovo states that the AMD variants have a starting pricing of $699 even though they have not disclosed the exact processor/memory/storage configuration. For the Intel variant, you have to spend a whopping $1210 and availability of the laptops in the market starts from April 2020.

Details:

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 comes with a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Infinity-O Super AMOLED display. The design of this device is similar to what we saw on the Galaxy Note 10, however, the corners are a little more rounded and the chin is slightly thicker.

Samsung has not specified the actual processor yet but according to the leaks all around we can say that the Note 10 Lite is going to feature the Exynos 9810. Some leaks also suggest that the Note 10 might pack in a Snapdragon processor. Samsung has revealed that the processor will be of 10nm and this 10nm SoC comes with 8GB of RAM.

Now we are coming to the camera department where the camera setup housed inside a squarish module of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Lite. The main camera is of 12MP sensors with Dual Pixel autofocus, an f/1.7 lens, and OIS accompanied by a 12MP wide-angle camera with an f/2.2 aperture, and a 12MP telephoto lens with an f/2.4 aperture and OIS for stabilization. On the front, there is a punch hole that accommodates a 32MP camera with an f/2.2 aperture to take care of selfies and video calls.

Galaxy Note 10 Lite is powered by a 4,500mAh battery with supports Super Fast charging. The phone also features an in-display fingerprint sensor for authentication. It offers 128GB of onboard storage that can further be expanded via a microSD card (up to 1TB).

CES 2020: AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT launched at $279

Last month, AMD launched the Radeon RX 5500 XT which was launched for budget gaming enthusiasts and to replace its old RX 500 series GPUs. Its previous Radeon RX 5700 and RX 5700 XT provides exceptional 1440p gaming performance.

Now at CES 2020, AMD has introduced the new Radeon RX 5600 XT for enhanced 1080p gaming performance, simply bridging the gap between the RX 5500 XT and the RX 5700 GPUs. Also with the RX 5600 XT, AMD now can compete with NVIDIA’s GTX 1660 Super and GTX 1660 Ti as well.

The RX 5600 XT is a healthy upgrade over the RX 5500 XT or rather a cut down version of the RX 5700. This graphics card is based out of the new Navi 10 based on AMD’s RDNA architecture focused to deliver killer 1080p performance between 90 and 120FPS.

Considering the immense value-for-money performance that the GTX 1650 Super gives you, the Radeon RX 5500 XT fell out of the competition due to the underwhelming performance that this Navi 14 GPU gives. This situation forced AMD to launch the new Navi 10 based Radeon RX 5600 XT.

AMD has even retained Navi 10’s 64 ROPs with this GPU, the RX 5600 XT features 36 compute units along with the same 2,304 stream processors seen in the Radeon RX 5700, but we see slower clock speeds with the base clock being 1,375MHz and 1,560MHz boost.

The GPU packs 6GB of GDDR6 memory, instead of the RX 5700’s 8GB. Altogether AMD says the new card is capable of delivering up to 7.19 teraflops of throughput, whereas the RX 5700 which is a bit higher at delivers 7.95TFLOPS of throughput.

The RX 5600 XT features 12Gbps GDDR6 memory instead of the 14Gbps chips found on the RX 5700/5500 ones. The GPU has 192-bit memory bus, which 1/4th of Navi 10’s MC/L2 partitions have been disabled. This results in 36% lesser memory bandwidth than the RX 5700, available at 288GB/sec speed.

On the performance front, AMD has compared the RX 5600 XT against the NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 1660 series and their older GTX 1060 cards. In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the GTX 1060 currently scores around 57 FPS in 1080p with ultra quality settings, while the RX 5600 XT delivers 92 FPS.

This is the same case in 1080p performance in games like The Division 2, Gears of War 5 and The Witcher 3. Where NVIDIA’s old card struggles to reach around 60FPS, AMD’s new GPU delivers around 90FPS in triple-A games. On the other hand, in eSports gaming, the new card delivers over 125+ frame rates.

When compared with the latest NVIDIA GTX 1660 Super OC, AMD’s Radeon RX 5600 XT gives you an edge over the NVIDIA GPU. The Navi GPU gives you 15% more performance on an average in triple-A gaming titles and up to 5% more performance in eSports titles.

With the help of AMD’s Radeon Software features like Radeon Boost & Radeon Anti-lag gamers can enjoy better gaming experience on the new Radeon RX 5600 XT. This new GPU will be available at $279 from January 21st onwards from all AIB board partners like MSI, Sapphire, ASUS, Gigabyte and more.
