Would You Marry Me Overview: Everything You Need to Know

The Premise: A Fake Marriage with Real Stakes

“Would You Marry Me” tells the story of Kim Woo Joo (Choi Woo Shik), heir to Korea’s oldest bakery, and Yoo Mary (Jung So Min), a small business owner who approaches him with an unconventional proposal—a 90-day fake marriage to secure a luxurious newlywed home. What could possibly go wrong?

Why Jung So Min Said Yes

The decision wasn’t difficult for Jung So Min. She confessed being a huge fan of director Song Hyun Wook’s work, particularly Another Miss Oh, which made her curious about collaborating with him. But the real clincher? Learning that Choi Woo Shik would be her co-star.

“When I heard that Choi Woo Shik, an actor I’d always wanted to work with, would be my co-star, I was convinced filming would be a lot of fun,” she shared enthusiastically.

Going Method: Jung So Min’s Extreme Role Preparation

True to her craft, Jung So Min didn’t take any shortcuts in becoming Yoo Mary. Her preparation went beyond typical script reading:

Immersive Living Experience – She relocated to Yoo Mary’s hometown to master the local dialect authentically, fully embodying her character’s background.

Character Journaling – Jung So Min maintained a detailed diary, imagining Yoo Mary’s life beyond what’s written in the script.

Physical and Emotional Transformation – She wanted to showcase a completely new side of herself, different from previous roles, both outwardly and inwardly.
