Antoine Griezmann desires to wear No. 7 shirt at Barcelona

The Frenchman arrived at Catalonia this year wearing the number 17 shirt as the no. 7 belonged to Philippe Coutinho. Griezmann says he wants to wear the No. 7 shirt at Barcelona in an online chat with eSports team Grizzi Esports, owned by him, over the weekend.

Coutinho was loaned to Bayern Munich for the whole season and could be set for another loan in the upcoming 2020-21 season or could be sold to other clubs which could be good news for Griezmann.

“I’d like to recover the number 7 shirt with Barça. Quarantine is going well, but nothing can be done. I greatly miss football. I have no idea when the competition will resume, I don’t know when I will resume training.

“I’m disappointed by the Euro Cup being postponed but it was better because we had so many injured players this season. I have the World Cup in the middle of my dining room table.”

Griezmann did have a wonderful 2018, winning three trophies in the same season and he wore the no. 7 jersey throughout his entire career. He has worn the number 7 for Real Sociedad, Atletico Madrid as well as France and has said it’s because his idol was David Beckham when he was younger.

In the upcoming season, Griezmann’s future is also in doubt as Barcelona is firm in bringing back Neymar and sign Lautaro Martinez to replace ageing Saurez. The French international has already scored 14 goals this season for the club.

As the COVID-19 has made a huge impact on the economic condition of the club, it will be interesting to see what the board does to him either sell him or give him the no. 7 shirt for the upcoming season.

Indian captain Mithali Raj, Poonam Yadav and SAI employees make donations to combat coronavirus pandemic

Indian women’s ODI team captain Mithali Raj donated a sum of Rs 10 lakh to combat coronavirus pandemic.

Mithali pledged Rs 5 lakh to the PM Cares Fund and the same amount to Telangana Chief Minister’s Fund.

Poonam Yadav, who played a crucial role in India’s campaign in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 in which India finished runners up, pledged to donate Rs 2 lakh for the cause.

“I have given my support to the PM-Cares fund and the UP CM relief fund. This is the only thing we can do in this time of crisis. I hope everyone contributes and we beat the pandemic soon. Stay safe everyone,” Yadav tweeted.

WFI president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, on behalf of the wrestling body, on Monday pledged to donate Rs 11 lakh for the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Employees of Sports Authority of India also donated their three days’ salary to the PM Cares Fund, amounting to Rs 76 lakh.

India all-rounder Deepti Sharma too did her bit by pledging Rs 1.5 lakh for the battle against the health crisis.

On behalf of the Uttar Pradesh Wrestling Association, Brij Bhushan has announced they will contribute Rs 5 lakh towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

The president of the wrestling body in Varanasi, Sanjay Kumar has announced a monetary aid of Rs 50,000 to the state CM’s relief fund.

Sacchin Tendulkar on Friday donated Rs 50 lakh to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, which has so far claimed 17 Indian lives and wreaked havoc globally. Tendulkar’s donation is so far the biggest contribution among India’s leading sportspersons.

Xavi wants to return to Barcelona along with Puyol and Cruyff

When Ernesto Valverde was sacked in January, Xavi was touted as the favourite to replace him as the head coach. But Xavi refused the offer as he was then focused to guide his club Al Sadd to glory in the Qatar Cup final in January. It was his second trophy as a manager.

Xavi also showed that his commitment to Barcelona is so great that he was not willing to come in to cover patches. His goal was to arrive at the club when it has a consolidated and solid project across all levels, from the academy to the first team.

Xavi has now gone public that he now feels ready to return to Barcelona. He will coach them but also want his former teammates Carles Puyol and Jordi Cruyff by his side.

Xavi recently said in an interview with La Vanguardia magazine: “I am clear that I want to return to Barca. I am very excited. Now that I have seen myself coaching, I think I can contribute things to the players.

“But I made it clear to them that I saw myself in a project that started from scratch, and in which decision-making was mine.”

Xavi further added: “I would like to work together with people in whom I have confidence, with whom there is loyalty, and who are very valid people. There cannot be anyone toxic near the locker room.”

“We are talking about Carles Puyol, who was captain of Barca, and Jordi Cruyff, a very good businessman and with a lot of experience in the technical secretary. I am a team person; I don’t want to decide alone. Obviously I would like to be very in tune with everyone.

“In the locker room, there can be no negativity, nothing toxic. I would like to enter with people from my environment to form a good team.”

Xavi and Puyol played together in Barcelona for 15 years. Together they won six LaLiga titles, two Copa del Rey titles, three Champions Leagues, the UEFA Super Cup and two FIFA World Cup Cups.

The Camp Nou is probably going to witness the iconic duo in the dugout once again.

Italy has been the most affected European country by the COVID-19 outbreak. The whole country is mourning right now and is seeking help from the sky. Spain is not too far behind. The outbreak has intensified in recent times. Today more than 800 people have died due to Coronavirus in Spain.

Both LaLiga and Serie A have been suspended as the countries have been locked down. The clubs are therefore facing a huge financial crisis without the match revenues and sponsorship fees.

In order to help their clubs, Ronaldo and Messi, along with their teammates have accepted huge salary cuts to ensure all the other workers are also paid.

An official statement from Juventus read: “[The club have] reached an understanding with the players and the coach of the first team regarding their compensation for the residual portion of the current sport season. The understanding provides for the reduction of the compensation for an amount equal to the monthly payments of March, April, May and June 2020.”

“In the coming weeks, personal agreements with the players and the coach will be finalised, as required by the current regulations. The economic and financial effects of the understanding reached are positive for about €90m for the 2019-20 financial year.”

“Should the current season’s matches be rescheduled, the club will negotiate in good faith with the players and the coach conditional increases of compensations according to the actual resumption and finalisation of official competitions.”

“Juventus would like to thank the players and the coach for their commitment at a difficult time for everyone.”

Lionel Messi has also confirmed that the entire Barcelona squad have agreed to accept a 70% reduction in their wages during the coronavirus pandemic. He released a statement on his Instagram account: “It doesn’t cease to surprise us that within the club there were those who tried to put us under the limelight and add pressure for us to do exactly what we intended.”

“On our behalf, it’s time to announce that, besides reducing our wage by 70% during the State of Emergency we’ll also contribute so that club employees can count on 100% of their salary as long as the current situation doesn’t change. The reason we hadn’t made this public was our need to find real solutions in order to help the club, but also those most affected by this situation.”

“There was always going to be a drop in the salary we receive because we understand that this is an exceptional situation and we are the first ones who have ALWAYS helped the club when it has asked us. Many times we have even done it on our own initiative.”

Ronaldo and Messi, the two best players of this generation, are also leading us in this time of need. This salary reduction is a great gesture from all the players.

According to reports, Ronaldo has converted his hotels in Portugal into hospitals and giving free treatments. Meanwhile, Messi has also donated funds to fight against Coronavirus.

The octa-core i7-10875H scores 8369 in leaked Geekbench scores

Intel is wary of AMD’s Ryzen 4000H laptop gaming processors so they will launch quite a few Comet Lake H gaming CPUs to counter the red team. Already we have spotted a few of them on benchmarks and soon they will release in the coming months.

Intel is preparing an eight-core, sixteen thread Comet Lake Core i7-10875H which was recently spotted on Geekbench with an impressive multithreaded score of 8369. This makes it faster than the Coffee Lake i9 series, around 45% higher than the Core i9-9880H.

The additional cores and threads do make a difference and Intel knows that the level of multi-core performance AMD Ryzen 4000 processors will be providing will be hard to beat. Already the Ryzen 7 4800H has defeated Intel’s Core i7 and i9 offerings of last year which makes its price to performance ratio incredible.

Intel already holds the edge with respect to single-core performance and now having bolstered its multi-core score, the Blue team can really convince it’s gaming fans. But the Ryzen 7 4800H offers multithreaded Geekbench performance that’s on par with the leaked Core i7-10875H.

Now already the APU is started shipping on laptops, the high priced Core i7-9750H laptops effectively get redundant. As the Ryzen 7 4800H laptops start being sold from less than $1000, it will be interesting how Intel actually prices its new flagship laptop CPU to stay competitive in this Ryzen dominated race.

Apple fined €1.1 Billion for illegal Competitive Practices

The Competition Agency of France imposed a fine of €1.1 billion this month on the tech giant Apple. “This French Agency is an independent administrative authority responsible for fighting against the anti-competitive practice and studying the functioning of markets”. As per the Agency, Apple is responsible for the price-fixing of some Apple products between two of its retailers. And this anti-competition practice is illegal.

As a penalty, Apple has to pay a huge amount of € 1.1 billion. It is the highest amount of fine issued by the Competition Agency of France. The two retailers of Apple, Tech Data and Ingram Micro also faced fines as because they are the parts of this malpractice. The amounts are worth €76.1 million and €62.9 million respectively.

The President of the French Competition Agency said, “Apple and its two wholesalers agreed not to compete and prevent distributors from competing with each other, thereby sterilizing the wholesale market for Apple products.”

“The French Competition Authority’s decision is disheartening. It relates to practices from over a decade ago and discards 30 years of legal precedent that all companies in France rely on with an order that will cause chaos for companies across all industries. We strongly disagree with them and plan to appeal.” A spokesperson for Apple to CNBC.

This story is available only for 24 hours and automatically gets deleted after that time period. WhatsApp has only introduced this 15 seconds story timing only in India till now to cope up with the internet usage among the millenniums.
