Southampton is the first Premier League club to agree on salary cuts

0

Premier League clubs like Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have been heavily criticised for taking advantage of the government’s furlough scheme. Instead of using their own resources, most of the top-flight clubs have wealthy owners, they have placed their staffs on furlough scheme so that they receive 80% of their salary.

Liverpool also made that decision of placing their staffs on furlough scheme but after their former players questioned the decision, Liverpool has changed their decision and will now pay their employees themselves.

Southampton released a statement for their fans. They are the first Premier League side to announce an agreement on wage cuts.

The club statement read: “The board of directors, the first-team manager, his coaching staff and the first-team squad have agreed to defer part of their salaries for the months of April, May and June to help protect the future of the club, the staff that work within it and the community we serve.”

“Furthermore, the club can confirm that it will not use the government’s Job Retention Scheme during April, May and June. Our owners, Mr. Gao and Katharina Liebherr, have put measures in place to ensure that all staff not deferring part of their salaries will continue to receive 100% of their pay, paid in the normal way until 30th June. Any decision on the future beyond this date will be made in advance of this, but only when more information is known.”

coronavirus

“Everyone at the club remains fully committed to the community we value so highly in Southampton. We will continue to offer our full support to the city of Southampton through the work of the Saints Foundation and provide any further assistance we can.”

“Meanwhile, we will continue to prepare our club for a return to the pitch and make sure that, when safe, we are ready to play and serve the people of Southampton again. Until then, We March On. Together.”

This is a very good gesture from a top-flight English club. Southampton’s non-playing staffs will continue to receive 100% of their wage until at least 30th June.

AMD’s Ryzen 4000 desktop CPUs codenamed Vermeer could be released in September

0

Recently the leaks from AdoredTV showed the specs of the new Zen 3 CPUs based on 7nm+ process from TSMC. An article from DigiTimes (reported via Tom’s Hardware) has stated that the new AMD Ryzen 4000 desktop processors are still scheduled to release sometime around September.

As Intel has already gearing for the launch of new 10th gen Comet Lake desktop CPUs this month, AMD also won’t be sitting ideal either. Obviously, due to the pandemic nothing is happening on time so the speculation that the Vermeer series of Zen 3-based desktop processors could be unveiled at the rescheduled Computex event, currently planned to be held on September 28-30.

AMD's chiplet design can cut costs by more than half

The new AMD’s Renoir / Ryzen 4000 APUs (Zen 2) is making good progress in the mobile processor market, so unsurprisingly users have high expectation from the Ryzen 4000 desktop CPUs (Zen 3). The Red team’s close connection with the semiconductor foundry TSMC will help them use an enhanced 7nm manufacturing process (7nm+) on these Vermeer chips.

The Zen 3 microarchitecture will bring decent improvements from last-gen with higher clock speeds and up to 15% IPC (instructions per cycle) gains. There will be significant improvements in the microarchitecture of the Vermeer CPUs over the Matisse predecessors.

If in September we do see the new Ryzen 4000 desktop CPUs in market, gamers will have a good time upgrading their PCs considering AMD’s commitment for AM4 socket.

Samsung’s revenue get less affected of COVID-19 pandemic

0

At present days, most of the tech giants already reduced their earnings estimates due to the coronavirus outbreak. The reasons behind it are the downfall of customer demands of gadgets, smartphones, and other electronics or non-electronic products.

But, in the case of Samsung, the scenario may be quite exceptional. It announced the Earning Guidance for the first quarter of 2020 on this April 7. As per the report, the company is expecting approximately an operating profit of 6.4 trillion won. This is the 2.7% hike with respect to the amount it posted last year for the same period of time. The report also said about their consolidated sales estimation which may lie between 54 to 56 trillion won. And it is almost a 5% increase than the previous year.

Surprisingly, like other large tech industries as Apple, Microsoft, etc Samsung also has to close its so many factories for safety purpose. Their Noida factory, which was started in 2018 is one of them.

The Worldwide shutdowns become the prior headache for all the industries, including tech. All are changing their plannings to be stable and more effective than opponents in the market. Both Apple and Microsoft already announced their expectations about the drop in their yearly income target.

Zen 3 to bring 10-15% IPC gains per thread & 32 MB of shared L3 cache, Zen 4 to feature 1 MB L2 cache & AVX 512 support

0

AMD will be launching their 7nm++ Zen 3 based Ryzen 4000 CPUs this year. Even though Zen 3 belongs to the optimization phase of AMD’s inflection-optimization cycle, it will do bring some core architecture enhancements than last-gen.

The latest report from AdoredTV suggests the IPC gains in Zen 3 will be on par with that of Zen 2 architecture, which is likely to be around 10-15% per thread. We can also expect higher multi-threaded performance from Zen 2 due to the IPC gains.

Zen 3 to bring 10-15% IPC gains per thread & 32 MB of shared L3 cache, Zen 4 to feature 1 MB L2 cache & AVX 512 support

The Zen 3 architecture will feature a new CCX design, which could be among those core architecture improvements which was told by AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su. Zen 3 will have one CCX per eight cores with a single L3 cache at 32 MB per CCX while Larger cache memory of 48 MB or 64 MB are not indicated.

With the new cache design and increased number of cores there’s access to a common L3 cache on the same die. This will tend to reduce latency and improve gaming performance, also the Zen 3 will continue to use SMT-2 and not SMT-4.

According to the new information about the 5nm Zen 4 based Ryzen 4000 CPUs, it is likely to feature more cores, a 1 MB L2 cache, AVX 512 support, and will obviously even better IPC gains due to the jump to 5nm process.

Oppo 40W ‘AirVOOC’ Wireless charger got Certified and Images surfaced

The AirVOOC wireless 40W charger from Oppo got certified yesterday and today te got to see the live image of the gadget. The certification indicates the launch of the device pretty soon and we also know that Oppo is going to hold a launch event on April 13 where it is going to launch the Oppo Reno Ace 2. Surprisingly enough this time the device supports wireless charging of up to 40W, so it may happen that Oppo is already planning to launch this AirVOOC wireless charger in that event alongside Reno Ace 2.

Certification of Oppo AirVOOC

The above image shows the certification of Oppo AirVOOC. The mockup image and the image that surfaced today are quite similar. There is a large ventilation area at the bottom of the charger, this means that there is a huge fan that is going to cool the device. While charging at such wattage the charger is going to heat up a lot so the company has put such ventilation to get rid of the unwanted hat generated during charging.

At the top there is a button and the phone space where you van put the phone and the button acts as a power button. The Oppo Reno Ace 2 is getting a 65W Super VOOC 2.0 charger in the box and this wireless charger will be sold separately as the device will support 40W wireless charging.

192MP Camera Smartphone with Snapdragon 735 coming soon

0

Digital Chat Station, a leakster has posted in his Weibo account that the phone is coming with a 192MP camera sensor with Snapdragon 735 (SM7250). The leakster also said to check on his post after a month for more details about this device. He also adds “Spoiler, it’s not the machine you expect[Yun Bei]” which means the story is different from what we are expecting.

Samsung is already on a 150MP camera sensor and Xiaomi on a 144MP sensor, according to several reports. Both the companies have come together in the production of the 108MP sensor and Xiaomi was the first brand to use it in their smartphone. Samsung’s 150MP sensor is a large 1″ sensor which will provide more clarity than the Galaxy S20 Plus’s camera. According to reports the 150MP sensor of Samsung is also heading to Oppo and Vivo phones (in 2021) other than Xiaomi.

The World's First 192MP Smartphone Camera Could Arrive Next ...

The SM7250 or Snapdragon 735 is a 7nm chip which will have a big Cortex-A76-based Kryo core at 2.36 GHz and another one at 2.32 GHz. The rest of the CPU is a six-core cluster of Cortex-A55 units, all running at 1.73 GHz. The GPU will be Adreno 620. This detail is shared by Shudhanshu another leakster in his Twitter account.

The Snapdragon 735 will be a mid-range chip that will be used in premium mid-range smartphones. The chipset’s ISP is powerful enough that it can support 192MP cameras by itself, no external chips are needed so we can expect that a mid-range chip can support such a huge 192MP sensor and this can be made available in mass.
