Bruno Fernandes will be leading Manchester United against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League tie

Manchester United are going to start their UEFA Champions League journey from today. They will face last season’s runners up Paris Saint-Germain tonight.

Manchester United has already confirmed their travelling squad to face the Ligue 1 champions. Manchester United captain Harry Maguire is out of the squad due to an injury. United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the pre-match press conference has confirmed that Bruno Fernandes will wear the Captain’s armband against Paris Saint-Germain.

Harry Maguire was criticized for his poor captaincy and form recently. Some fans suggested that Bruno should be given the Captain’s armband. United fans are so happy with the decision of their boss.

Bruno Fernandes was the captain of his previous club in his time at Sporting CP. He joined Manchester United last January. His brilliant performance from the first day in a United shirt made him one of the fan favourites at Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer announced this in the press conference but Bruno had no idea about this. He was also shocked after the news.

After the announcement yesterday, Bruno said, “I was not expecting this. I found out at the same time as you!”

“It is an honour and an important achievement for me. The captain is everyone – everyone needs to help, be a leader in their way.”

“I think I’m playing well in the last few months, but I have to improve and do better. I think I can do much better than before. I know my numbers are good, but I’m sure I will do better numbers and games than before.”

“We hope the players won’t be away for too long. Edinson needs a few more days training before the weekend, and hopefully Harry, Eric and Mason as well but we’re not sure about that”, he added.

A team like Manchester United always needs a captain who can lead from the front. Roy Keane, Nemanja Vidic, Wayne Rooney are examples of this. Bruno surely has the quality to lead from the front. Lionel Messi, arguably the greatest ever player to play this game is unfortunately not in the best of his form. He may not be in the twilight of his career but probably his age has taken a toll on him.

The 33-year-old’s only goal of this season was a penalty against Villarreal. More alarmingly, he has scored just seven goals in 19 appearances since football resumed in Spain in June and out of the seven, four were penalties.

Messi has averaged close to a goal per game for much of the past decade, so it is certainly a matter of concern.

Barcelona needs their star man in his best form right now as there are some very important fixtures coming up. The Catalans will play in the Champions League before hosting Real Madrid in this season’s first El Clasico this weekend.

Exactly a week ago, on 13th October, Apple showcased its next-generation iPhones i.e. iPhone 12 series that comes with 5G technology along with other top-notch features. At the same time, Apple authority also declared that the users will get only the handset and a cable in the box of any iPhone 12 models. That means, there will be no power adapter and no earphones. Apple takes this decision to fulfil its pledge to become 100% carbon-free by 2030.

Just after the announcement, other smartphone industry leaders started trolling the Cupertino giant. Samsung was the first to express that, and now, the Chinese firm Xiaomi follows the same. It posted a clip on Twitter just on the next day of the iPhone 12 launch where a person is unboxing Mi 10T Pro to show the power adaptor inside. On top of that, in the caption, Xiaomi wrote, ” Don’t worry, we didn’t leave anything out of the box with #Mi10TPro.” Over 1 million people already watch the clip at the time of my writing.

This is not a new thing for Apple. It was trolled earlier when it removed the headphone jack from the iPhones. All the rivals trolled Apple, but a few months later they followed the same path. Even there was enough space to add the headphone jack inside some of the handsets, but the makers didn’t add that.

It’s fully admirable that Apple is trying to be fully carbon-free by 2030, but the other companies may take advantage of this strategy to generate revenue only, and surely, that will not be fair.

Five matchdays in, the 20/21 season of the Premier League is turning out to be one of the most unpredictable editions of all time. Club football returned this weekend after a lengthy international break. And with it, returned the excitement and the controversy of the Premier League.

Match of the Week 

Everton 2-2 Liverpool

One of the most competitive Merseyside derbies in recent memory ended in both clubs sharing points at the final whistle. However, the awful VAR decision to rule out Jordan Henderson’s late goal to give Liverpool the win just showed how flawed the match officiating truly is. 

Add to that the horrendous tackle by Pickford on Virgil Van Dijk, and you have not one, but two good reasons as to why VAR is not working out.

Goals by Sadio Mane and Salah gave Liverpool something to be happy about. However, Michael Keane and Dominic Calvert-Lewin managed to score two headers to equalise on both occasions of Liverpool taking the lead. 

All in all, it was a great watch as neutral with plenty of chances, drama and excitement.

By the time the first half ended, watchers were placing bets on how many the Hammers would end up conceding at full time.

Harry Kane was the best player from Tottenham, setting up Son’s first-minute opener and netting two for himself.

A great strike by Balbuena, an own goal by Davinson Sanchez and an absolute screamer from Manuel Lanzini saw the Hammers level things with Spurs in injury time to cap off a thrilling contest.

With two goals and an assist to his name, Werner is the player of the week despite being unable to come away with all three points at home. 

The first goal was a brilliant strike by Werner, as he managed to net the ball through a horde of defenders. However, the second goal from the German to completely take the keeper out was a thing of beauty.

How can Liverpool cope without Virgil Van Dijk?

Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk is out for at least 7-8 months after a knock against Everton on Saturday. He may out of the remainder of the season as he has undergone knee surgery.

It will surely a great loss for the current Premier League champions. It will be a tough test for Klopp and his team to maintain their superiority without their main man in the backline.

How can Klopp deal with this situation?

  • Changing the formation:

Liverpool tends to play in a 4-3-3 formation with Roberto Firmino playing as a False 9. Midfielders also tend to get into the box while attacking.

Liverpool can use a 4-2-3-1 formation with a double pivot in the midfield to cover their defence in front.

  • Changing their playing style:

Liverpool always push their wing back to attack. Without Van Dijk that can be a risk.

  • Fabinho as a Centre Back:

Fabinho is one of the most trusted members of Klopp’s team. His defending ability, game reading, and attributes give Liverpool a big boost in the field.

Fabinho can replace Van Dijk in the backline for the rest of the season. He has played as a centre back as well this season in a league game and displayed a great performance. He can be a perfect replacement for the Reds in the back.

As of now, we have no details regarding the internal specifications of the rear camera or front camera module of this phone.

IPL 2020 – DC vs KXIP: Match preview, Fantasy XI team and Prediction

Match 38 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 will feature another game of high stakes as Delhi Capitals will take on the Kings XI Punjab.

Kings XI Punjab are pretty much in a do or die situation as they’ll have to win all five of their remaining matches or at least four of them and depend on the net run rate. They’re showing signs of bouncing back as they have registered wins over the top teams of Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians. However, they have another heavyweight to get pass through as they take on table-toppers, the Delhi Capitals.

DC has won seven of their nine matches. Winning one more match will solidify their place in the playoffs and they would like to do exactly the same. They’re coming off a win against the Chennai Super Kings. KXIP, on the other hand, is coming off a win against the Mumbai Indians.

Delhi Capitals

Capitals have had some difficulty in their batting since their last few matches they were at least 10-15 runs short. Rishabh Pant being injured has added some distortion in their team combination. The restriction of playing four foreign players had Shimron Hetmyer out of the playing 11 as well. However, they have equally capable Ajinkya Rahane and Alex Carey replacing them. Rahane especially will have to prove his worth and play according to the situation probably coming at number 3. Prithvi Shaw will have to regain his form.

Their bowling, however, can compensate for some fewer runs. Everyone in their bowling attack has been phenomenal. Rabada holds the purple cap with 19 wickets. Nortje has looked in great form clocking in the fastest, second fastest, and the fourth fastest delivery in the history of the IPL in their last match itself. Ashwin and Axar Patel have been keeping things tight as well.

Kings XI Punjab

KXIP is coming off one of the best games of cricket in the history of the sport as they defeated the Mumbai Indians in the second super over of the game.

Mumbai Indians put up a challenging score of 176 runs on board. Kings XI Punjab paced it’s chase properly to score an exact 176 runs. Both the teams had a tie in the super over as well which lead to another super over. Finally, KXIP was able to get the better of it by winning the second super over.

Chris Jordan has found some form which is good. However, Glenn Maxwell will have to contribute in some way or the other.

KL RAHUL (11) (C) – Rahul has been extremely consistent in this IPL. He has been a run machine and will be our captain.

MAYANK AGARWAL (9.5) – Agarwal is probably in the best purple patch of his life.

MARCUS STOINIS (9) – Stoinis has looked great and has provided both runs and wickets at crucial stages. He’s coming off a wonderful fifty against the formidable CSK batting lineup.

AXAR PATEL (8.5) – Patel has been in great form with both bat and ball.

KAGISO RABADA (9.5) – Rabada has been the highest wicket-taker of the season so far.

ANRICH NORTJE (8.5) – Nortje has impressed everyone with his speed. He has been a great wicket-taker for Capitals.

R. ASHWIN (9) – Ashwin has looked really good in the season so far. He has continued to show form despite being out of the playing 11 for a while due to injury.

MURUGAN ASHWIN (8) – M. Ashwin has looked really good in the chances he has got so far.

ARSHDEEP SINGH (8) – Just like other Indian fast bowlers like T. Natarajan and Kartik Tyagi, Arshdeep Singh has been a breath of fresh air this IPL.

Prediction

Delhi Capitals have looked a bit shaky and less invincible after Rishabh Pant’s injury. KXIP, however, has shown improvement in almost all aspects as their middle-order and pace bowling weaknesses have sorted out up to a level. Kings XI Punjab will therefore defeat the Delhi Capitals.

Liverpool could potentially be left with one fit senior centre-back in Joe Gomez, as Joel Matip is set to undergo scans on his latest muscle injury.

This news will come as a blow to the Reds who could already be without Virgil Van Dijk for almost the entirety of the season. The Dutch defender suffered damage to his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) after a challenge by Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. And with him laid off for at least 8-9 months, the onus would lie on Matip and Gomez to form the central defensive partnership.

Although Liverpool could still gain the requisite results from their upcoming games due to the fearful threat from Mane, Salah and Firmino combined with their attacking fullbacks in Robertson and Firmino. Only 6 minutes into one of the most highly anticipated Merseyside derbies in recent memory, Jordan Pickford executed a horrendous tackle on Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk that left the Dutch centre-back unable to carry on. 

The incident demanded a straight red card at the very least, if not a lengthy suspension for Pickford. Despite being pressed by Lucas Digne, Van Dijk had managed to penetrate deep into the penalty area.

Pickford decided to charge out and committed himself into a malicious dive that ended the defender’s match right there. 

However, by the looks of it, Van Dijk will be out for the rest of the 20/21 season at the very least. This is because the injury sustained by Van Dijk is reportedly an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury (ACL). 

One of the most dreaded injuries in the sport, it takes an immense amount of time and a painful road to recovery to come out on the other side.

The club confirmed that the star defender required surgery to his knee to repair the damage sustained by the tackle. 

The only reason that Pickford managed to get away with the tackle was because of an offside. However, a foul play of such serious nature demands some punishment on the part of the Toffees’ goalie.
