Updates come from DxOMark for its smartphone display and camera testing protocols

0

If you talk about a smartphone’s display or its camera, then DxOMark scores become very important for them every time. This group basically does various kinds of testing on a smartphone’s display or its camera and generates some rankings, by which we can measure the capabilities of that particular smartphone. As per the reports, the DxOMark has updated the testing process for smartphone display and camera testing protocols.

For example, if we talk about a smartphone camera, this group checks the digital zoom, bokeh effect, colors, and also in the case of the display, refresh rate comes into the topic. The DxOMark has already just announced that it has updated 80% of its usual battery of camera tests to address and also the image previews on the screen just before taking a shot.

The image sensor evaluation protocol has also been re-designed which says, “many new demanding test scenes in photo and video with more people, motion, low light and HDR in each shot”.

Apart from the camera, the display testing by this group has also been updated, like the process now incorporates spending more than 20 hours on the “perceptual evaluation” of each screen in the lab and non-lab conditions. Moreover, for the testing of display quality, over 400 objective measurements are there.

In the case of display, the DxOMark does some testing on the color, motion, readability, video, and touch response. Let’s just take a quick look out at the top list of display checking by the DxOMark:

1. Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, 2. OnePlus 8 Pro, 3. Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, 4. Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max, and 5. TCL 10 Pro.

Also take a look at the top list regarding the camera:

1. Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra, 2. Huawei’s P40 Pro, 3. Mi 10 Pro, 4. Vivo X50 Pro+, and 5. OPPO’s Find X2 Pro.

SK Hynix announces the acquisition of Intel’s NAND business with a $9 billion deal

0

The South Korean tech giant, SK Hynix, is the world’s third-largest semiconductor manufacturer, falling behind only Intel and AMD. Not to mention, it is the world’s second-largest manufacturer of memory modules (RAM).

Yesterday, the company announced a $9 billion deal to buy Intel’s NAND memory chip operation. This deal comes amidst the companies ongoing struggle against the competitor Samsung which is also looking to establish itself in the semiconductor market.

SK Hynix, through a leader new the manufacturing of DRAM chips, has always been short in manufacturing flash memory or NAND chips. For the unknown, flash memory chips are used in devices such as smartphones and USB storage drives. Not to mention they have seen wide acceptance in the usage in industrial and medical equipment.

The combination of SK Hynix and Intel will boost the south Korean giants Flash memory business and will allow it to cross major competitors like Kioxia and Western Digital.

In South Korea and most of Asia, Samsung dominates the NAND and DRAM markets. With this deal, SK Hynix is looking to level the field with its Korean counterpart in the global chip market. SK Hynix is looking to become a major chip supplier to the American giants such as Apple, Dell, and HP.

Ahn Ki-Hyun, vice-president of the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association, stated that this Intel acquisition by SK Hynix would strengthen the company’s NAND operations, which have “not been as strong as its other businesses.”

He also stated that “With the deal, the company has firmly cemented its second-largest position in the global semiconductor industry. In the long run, the deal paves the way for it to become more competitive against Samsung.”

With this deal, Intel is looking to expand its technologies in mobile processors and get access to a wide range of customers.

Apple will launch AirTags of two different sizes soon

0

As per some reports, Apple will make an announcement very soon regarding the launch of its AirTags. There is also a rumor in the market that the AirTags from Apple will come in two sizes: one big and one small. This information has been leaked by some of the trusted sources. But the accurate size has not confirmed by the company.

If we check the images of the internal technology of the iOS 13, AirTags were smaller having the circular white tags with an Apple logo on the front. This time, there can be a bigger one. It is expected that they will more likely to be attached to items via adhesive or an attachment point like a ring. Moreover, there may be more than one way to use them with different items.

As of now, Apple is working hard trying to mass-produce as many as cans. But we expected that Apple would make the announcement in those October or November events. But unfortunately, Apple didn’t do such things and as per reports, Apple will push AirTags’ announcement to March 2021 due to manufacturing issues. The only good thing is, Apple has confirmed the announcement of the AirTags.

boAt Rockerz 560 Bluetooth Headset review: Is it worth the buy?

0

I have been using on the ear headphones over the last few years and wanted to try an over the ear headphone. I came across the boAt Rockerz 560 Bluetooth headset on Flipkart and liked the overall thing and decided to try it out.

I ordered the boAt Rockerz 560 Bluetooth Headset from Flipkart for Rs 1,899. I have used it for over a month now and would like to share my review with you all so that you can decide whether is it worth the buy.

160018086271 boAt Rockerz 560 Bluetooth Headset review: Is it worth the buy?

In the Box

The box is beautifully designed, which will include:

  • 1 boAt Rockerz 560 Bluetooth Headset
  • 1 AUX cable
  • 1 micro USB cable
  • 1 warranty card
  • 1 user manuak
  • 1 boAt welcome card
160018086714 boAt Rockerz 560 Bluetooth Headset review: Is it worth the buy?

Specifications

  • With Mic: Yes
  • Connector type: 3.5mm
  • Bluetooth version: 4.2
  • Wireless range: 10 m
  • Charging time: 2.5 Hours
  • Battery Time: Upto 15 Hours
  • Driver Size: 40mm
  • Plush Ear Cushions

Design and build quality

The boAt Rockerz 560 Bluetooth Headset is an over the ear headphone. The build material doesn’t feel cheap even if it isn’t premium. It is ergonomically designed to fit perfectly.

It features adjustable and foldable ear cups which makes it easier to fit as we can adjust the length of the arm as per the size of our heads. The ear cups are also well-cushioned and the upper part is also cushioned to make it comfortable to hear.

The only thing which bothered me is that the earcups didn’t fit perfectly over my ears which caused some kind of uncomfortableness while wearing this which turned into pain after prolonged wear. The headphone is also on the heavy side so the weight is also an issue which makes it difficult to wear it on a long term basis.

160018086548 boAt Rockerz 560 Bluetooth Headset review: Is it worth the buy?

Connectivity

The boAt Rockerz 560 has two types of connectivity, both AUX and Bluetooth. For me, which seems an absolute win cause when you’re in the middle of something and the battery runs out it is very frustrating. So, after your Bluetooth battery runs out you can easily keep your work flowing by connecting with the AUX cable.

For connecting with the AUX cable, there is a 3.5 mm jack on the earcup. So you just need to plug in the AUX cable and you’re ready to use.

For connecting to Bluetooth, first, turn on the headphone by long-pressing the power button. A red and blue light will flash alternatively to indicate the headphone is turned on. Now, turn on the Bluetooth on your phone and you can find the device on the available Bluetooth devices list.

From the second time, if the Bluetooth on your phone is turned on, whenever you turn on the headphone it will automatically connect to the last connected device.

So, on the connectivity options front, boAt Rockerz 560 has done a wonderful job by including both the AUX and Bluetooth modes. But in Bluetooth mode when you’re listening to a video you can clearly see that the lips won’t sync with the audio which is kind of awkward.

I’ve also tried playing COD Mobile with this headphone on Bluetooth mode and it was below average. There were some occasional major delays.

If you’re going to use this only in AUX mode then you don’t have to think about these issues, cause in AUX mode it is almost perfect.

Audio quality

This is the main part of any headset. The audio quality is one of the most important factors for judging the quality of a headphone. The boAt Rockerz 560 has one of the best audio quality in these price range under Rs 2,000. The highs and lows are both almost equally good.

The bass quality will also catch your eye. As it an over the ear headphone, you can feel the bass more. The over the ear design also helps in passive noise cancellation. The only downfall in the over the ear design of this headset is that the earcups don’t fit perfectly in the ears which makes it difficult to use for a longer period of time.

The in-built mic is also good. The person on the other end won’t face any noise problem. Overall, the audio quality experience is up to the mark for this price range.

160018082714 boAt Rockerz 560 Bluetooth Headset review: Is it worth the buy?

Battery backup

The boAt Rockerz 560 Bluetooth Headset has 400mAh battery capacity and the company claims that it will give you a 15 hours backup. I used it on 70-80% volume and it went for about 10-12 hours which is pretty good.

The charging time is around 2.5 hours which is near about perfect in real life. So the battery backup and charging is average. You can get better in this price range.

Pros and cons

ProsCons
Durable for rough useBluetooth latency
Good sound and bass qualityEarcups don’t fit perfectly
Dual connectivity optionsBattery performance could be better

Verdict

From my personal experience, I didn’t quite like the boAt Rockerz 560 Bluetooth Headset. The audio quality is amazing but I couldn’t use them for long hours which was a big issue for me.

If you’re comfortable using an over the ear headphone, then you can definitely try this. Or else, you can try Infinity Glide 510 which comes for just Rs 1,699.

Buy the boAt Rockerz 560 Bluetooth Headset from here.

Barcelona sign contract renewals with 4 stars

0

Barcelona has been through tough times both on and off the field. Although the appointment of Ronald Koeman as manager has improved the on-field issues, the off-field issues still remain.

There has already been a successful motion of no confidence against club president Bartomeu and on the other hand, the players are unwilling to take a further pay cut.

In the meantime, Barcelona has somehow managed to sign contract renewals with 4 Barcelona stars: Gerard Pique, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Clement Lenglet and Frenkie De Jong.

Gerard Pique: 2024

Gerard Pique has extended his contract until 20 June 2024 and his buy-out clause now stands at 500 million euros. The contract extension will be based on a number of conditions including the number of appearances he makes starting from the 2021-22 season. The former Spanish defender is playing his 13th season for Barcelona and would go on to play 16 seasons at Camo Nou till 2024.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen: 2025

The German goalkeeper has signed a contract extension until 30 June 2025 and his buy-out clause is also set at 500 million euros. He is one of the best goalkeepers right now in world football and this contract extension is set to make him the second best-paid player in Barcelona, only behind Lionel Messi.

Clement Lenglet: 2026

Clement Lenglet has extended his contract until 30 June 2026 and his buy-out clause stands at 300 million euros. The 25-year-old French defender will be playing at Camp Nou until his early thirties.

Frenkie de Jong: 2026

Frenkie de Jong is the youngest among the group of players who signed contract extensions. The 23-year-old Dutch midfielder extended his contract until 30 June 2026 and his buy-out clause stands at 400 million euros. He is set to become an integral part of the Barcelona midfield over the coming years.

IPL 2020 – RCB vs KKR: Match preview, Fantasy XI team and Prediction

Match 39 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 will feature an important match of two strong sides as Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Both the teams are going pretty strong in the IPL 2020 but would like to push it a notch higher by solidifying a spot into the playoffs as soon as possible.

Kolkata Knight Riders are coming off a close super over win against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Royal Challengers Bangalore, on the other hand, is coming off a come from behind win against the Rajasthan Royals.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Even though RCB is coming off a win, they would like to rectify the mistakes they made in their last match. While chasing, the RCB top-order was struggling. Aaron Finch once again failed to deliver. Devdutt Padikkal played well but couldn’t keep his strike rate high. RCB was sinking, however, a probable tactical error was made by RR.

Many experts believe the penultimate over (19th over) is more important than the last over. But Smith handed the over to Jaydev Unadkat instead of Jofra Archer. AB de Villiers obviously was going to make the Royals pay for that as he smashed three sixes to get 25 off that over. Archer only had 10 runs to defend which he couldn’t do.

(PC- SportzWiki)

Kolkata Knight Riders

KKR is coming off a close super over win over the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Andre Russell has been consistently failing in this IPL.

However, KKR may have finally found a stable combination as they brought in Kiwi quickie Lockie Ferguson and Kuldeep Yadav. That quickly manifested as Ferguson took 3 wickets and 2 more wickets in the super over. However, they’ll have to focus on their death bowling.

(PC- Sportskeeda)

Fantasy XI team

VIRAT KOHLI (10.5) (C) – Kohli is back in form and that’s bad news for bowlers! He’s always an inning away from gaining confidence. He’ll be our captain.

CHRIS MORRIS (9) (VC) – Morris has looked great so far and picked up four wickets in his last match. He contributed handsomely with the bat as well. He’ll be our vice-captain.

AB DE VILLIERS (10) – AB de Villiers has been fairly consistent with this IPL. He’s scored a phenomenal 73 off just 33 balls against KKR.

SHUBMAN GILL (9) (VC) – Gill is in great form and has been really consistent for KKR. He’ll be our vice-captain.

DEVDUTT PADIKKAL (9.5) – Youngster Padikkal has impressed everyone with his batting this year. He has been extremely consistent.

DINESH KARTHIK (8.5) – Karthik has shown some form after the weight of captaincy has reduced from his shoulders.

WASHINGTON SUNDAR (8.5) – Sundar probably has one of the lowest economy rates in the history of the IPL. However, he has backed that up by picking up wickets as well. Also, he can prove really handy with the bat.

LOCKIE FERGUSON (8.5) – Ferguson is known for picking up wickets in the middle overs. His raw pace is very effective in UAE pitches.

YUZVENDRA CHAHAL (9) – Chahal has developed into a phenomenal and intelligent limited over spinner.

PAT CUMMINS (9) – Cummins is coming off an impressive 53 against MI. Also, he has some rhythm with his bowling.

ISURU UDANA (8) – Even though his economy is on the higher side, Udana has been picking up wickets at regular intervals.

PREDICTION

Kolkata have looked good as per individual performances are concerned, however, as a team, they would like to put in a collective effort. Under the captaincy of world-cup winning captain Eoin Morgan, they’re expected to rectify their mistakes. However, RCB has been one of the most balanced teams of the IPL 2020. Royal Challengers Bangalore will defeat the Kolkata Knight Riders.
