Sony warn Indians against importing PlayStation 5

0

Sony has launched its next-gen gaming console, PlayStation 5 back on November 12th in the global market and releases it by a wider range on the 19th. But still, there is no official news about the launch in the Indian market. Obviously, when a huge percentage of PS fans are getting access, the Indian fans are way far from that. So, they choose to import the new PlayStation 5.

To do that, Indians are accessing the grey market. On top of that, they are paying unreasonable prices. As per the reports, the amount reaches close to INR 90,000 from a single unit, which is around double in comparison to the global market price. Though the prices of the Indian variants are not revealed yet, converting the global price, it comes around INR 29,400 for the Digital Edition and INR 36,800 for the regular edition.

Sony, on the entire scenario, commented that all the imported units will not come under the official Sony warranty. No doubt, it’s a warning for all the Indian PS5 fans who already imported it or are under process.

According to a report by India Today, a Sony PlayStation representative said to MensXP, “We advise our customers to check for the official Sony India Warranty card at the time of purchase to avail warranty benefits within India and in this context, it is important to note that PlayStation products marketed by Sony India are certified based on India safety standards stipulated by BIS,”

Lionel Messi has been fined €600 for his tribute to Diego Maradona

0

Arguably the greatest ever player to grace the football field, Diego Maradona passed away on 25th November. It will be remembered as one of the black days of world football. The whole fraternity was mourning the great loss.

Barcelona played Osasuna on the following weekend where they won comfortably by a 4-0 scoreline. The highlight of the match came in the 73rd minute when Lionel Messi scored a goal and opened his shirt to reveal a Newell’s shirt with number 10 written on it as a tribute to Maradona.

Newell’s Old Boys was the last club Maradona played for before hanging up his football boots. The Argentine club was also the first place where Messi started playing football before signing for Barcelona.

But match referee, Mateu Lahoz, had no option other than showing Messi a yellow card for removing his Barcelona shirt. He wrote in the match report: “In minute 73 the player (10) Messi Cuccittini, Lionel Andres was booked for the following reason.”

“For removing his shirt, after scoring a goal, showing a new shirt of the Newell’s Old Boys team, from the 93/94 season, with the number 10 on the back.”

This means that Messi’s tribute to Maradona has now been officially recorded in the Spanish football history.

According to a report, the Competition Committee has issued a warning to Messi as well as fined him €600 for infraction of article 91 of the Disciplinary Code. The fine levied is quite marginal as it could have gone up to €3,000.

Barcelona have also been fined €350 in accordance with article 52 of the Disciplinary Code. The Catalan club is expected to appeal the sanction before the Competition Committee in the coming days.

Rugby Africa provides Massive Kick Start to Unions for 2021 Season

Unprecedented show of solidarity support from Confederation to rebuild continental rugby

CAPE TOWN, South Africa, December 2, 2020/ — Rugby Africa is elated to announce it will be granting EUR 276,490 for the successful and safe preparations for the restart of its 2021 rugby season, after a very challenging 2020.

The Fund will see 11 of the 39 Unions; Namibia, Kenya, Uganda, Tunisia, Zimbabwe, Algeria, Zambia, Madagascar, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, Ghana eligible for the funds.  A very targeted approach has been taken to ensure funds are applied where they will have the greatest, immediate impact and highlights the attractiveness of Rugby Africa competitions.

Khaled Babbou President of Rugby Africa, “This is an exciting day for rugby on the Continent. It clearly illustrates Rugby Africa’s support for its Unions.  We have been through extraordinary challenges this year and it is essential that we do everything possible to keep this much – loved sport alive and striving in Africa.”

Selection Process

RA EXCO used the following criteria in awarding the funds:

  • 40% of the fund scored on Development –The strength and development level of domestic competitions and the existing support workforce necessary to develop clubs and leagues in a country. A Union Development Questionnaire (using a scoring tool developed by World Rugby) was used in consultation with each Union.
  • 60% of the fund scored on Performance – The participation and results of Rugby Africa Unions during the 2018 or 2019 season i.e. Rugby Cup (Men and Women), Sevens (Men and Women) and U20 Barthès Trophy

Depending on their scores, Unions are eligible to receive between EUR 43,736 and EUR 5,027 as part of the Fund. Rugby Africa staff will work closely with the Unions to draft a program to be presented to Senior Management and EXCO for approval before releasing of the funds which are expected early in 2021.

“We are very comfortable with the robust judging criteria used to ensure the fairness of the process and how much each Union will receive,” said Steph Nel: Rugby Service Manager for Africa, World Rugby.

Use of funds

The 11 recipient unions will carefully consider their areas that need the most urgent development or improvement.  This could be for example the restart of the domestic leagues, training camps for the national teams to properly prepare ahead of the International/Rugby teams.  Some of the unions may require to bolster the staffing of the national teams, and with the Olympic games in the near future, use the funding to pay for participation in the preparation tournaments.

Andrew Owor, Vice President of Rugby Africa: “We have all lived in unprecedented times this year due to the pandemic. One could never have imagined that globally, all sporting events would be shut down for a number of months. Without the much- needed cash injection, it would have been impossible to see the restart of our competitions, for them to be competitive and to put the players in the best possible position to play entertaining rugby that fans have so sorely missed.”

This Fund is different from the Emergency Solidarity fund that saw Rugby Union paying EUR 117k to 31 Unions for immediate food and medical relief. It assisted the most vulnerable communities with food parcels and/or to supply clubs with masks, sanitisers and medical supplies.

AMD’s green lits the development of custom RX 6900 XT cards

0

The upcoming Radeon RX 6900 XT is supposed to be the fastest card among the Radeon RX 6000 line-up. The menu will feature the Big Navi GPU. A Russian outlet called Overclockers is recently claiming that AMD has given greenlit to its board partners to manufacture custom Radeon RX 6900 XT graphics cards.

We already know that AMD was in talks with its AIB partners to develop custom RX 6900 XT models. And the news comes just a month after the initial discussion. The Radeon RX 6900 XT launch is close by, and according to sources, the card’s custom models will not be available at the launch. It is being reported that the custom variants will most likely appear in Q1 of 2021.

According to sources, Radeon RX 6900 XT’s custom variants will have the same TDP but will come with a higher max clock limit of 3.0 GHz. However, the news isn’t confirmed as to whether the AIB’s will allow for a higher clock speed as it will most certainly breach the clock barrier of the flagship card.

The Radeon RX 6900 XT will come with Navi 21 XTX GPU, which features 80 Compute Units or 5120 SPs. It also features 16 GB of GDDR6 memory across a 256-bit bus interface and a 512 GB/s total bandwidth and the card is clocked at speeds of 2015 MHz of base and 2250 MHz of boost clocks. The manufacturer also provides 80 Ray accelerators for ray-tracing enablement on the graphics cards; finally, the menu will feature a TBP of 300W.

AMD’s Radeon RX 6900 XT will be available from December 8th and carry a price tag of $999. The card is said to go against Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3090.
