The Chinese smartphone market to decline in 1Q21

0

The world’s biggest smartphone market is a key place for almost all smartphone manufacturers, and the new report from Digitimes Research says that the market will contract in 1Q21. China’s total smartphone shipments are expected to fall over 10% sequentially in the first quarter of 2021, after growing 19.2% in Q4 2020.

Although there was over 19% sequential growth, the smartphone shipments to the China market dropped 10.5% year-on-year, whereas the whole-year 2020 volumes slipping by 17.2% year-on-year. As Digitimes say, this is got to be due to weak demand in China’s smartphone market in Q4 2020.

Among the major Chinese smartphone brands, Honor was sold by Huawei to a Chinese government-backed consortium in 2020. On the other hand, Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi continue keenly placing orders, but Huawei smartphone shipments further shrank in the fourth quarter of 2020.

Its home rivals are taking this void left by Huawei and most importantly, by Apple, who has seen a huge demand for iPhones, took a major share of the China smartphone. Interestingly, most Chinese first-tier Android smartphone brands, expect Huawei, has seen an increased ratio of exports in the quarter, resulting in weaker-than-expected growths in their domestic shipments.

It is said that the China smartphone market’s shipments will drop only by 12.5% sequentially in the Q1 of 2021 despite the poor market form.

0

The much anticipated Team Of the Year promo ended on 2nd February in FIFA 21 Ultimate Team. So, EA Sports are now coming up with a new promo in FUT 21. The Future Stars promo will go live on 5th February.

Confirmed players who will feature in the Future Stars promo

If you watch the Future Stars loading screen while entering the FIFA 21 Ultimate team you can get some hints.

On the right border of the screen, there are two co-ordinates written 59.3671 N and 17.8691 E. If you search for these co-ordinates, they point to a district in Sweden called Vällingby. Juventus winger Dejan Kulusevski was born in that district, so it pretty much confirms that he will feature in the Future Stars promo.

Now, coming to the second player. If you look to the left of the Future Stars card, a date is shown, 1/20/2021 in the grid. This date coincides with Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin’s competitive debut for the Spanish club. So, this more or less also confirms that he will get a Future Stars card.

EA Sports started a poll on Twitter featuring five nations. England has won the poll, so a young English player will feature. In the next poll, left-back has got 31.2% vote while striker is clearly winning by 68.8% vote. So an English striker will also feature in the promo.

According to a report by the Mirror, Manchester United winger Amad Diallo, Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Xavi Simons have been recently added in the FUT 21 database. You can see them in the concept cards section. So they will also most probably get a Future Stars card.

These make 5-6 confirmed players who will feature in the Future Stars promo starting from 5th February in FIFA 21 Ultimate team. Keep an eye here. We will give more details of the promo soon.

Google foldable screen mobile phone patent announced, could be a Pixel model

0

Foldable phones have now been a common factor nowadays as most of the established smartphone manufacturers have already introduced their foldable devices in the market. Samsung is a burning example of it. The South Korean tech giant has currently become the leading brand in the foldable mobile phone market with its flip and foldable phones. Recently, Google has filed patents of two folding screen mobile phones, expected to be the future foldable Pixel devices. These are basically the outline sketches of the future foldable phones from Google and earlier, there were some reports from Android which revealed that Google is currently working on its folding-screen phones, probably, Google’s own Pixel phones.

In terms of the first patent, it is showing an outward folding screen design where the internal hinge cross-section is similar to a trapezoid. For this design, the flexible screen will not be stretched or compressed. This patent design looks a bit similar to what we’ve seen in Huawei Mate X as when the screen is folded, the back of the phone fits perfectly.

Coming to the second one, it shows an inward folding screen design, similar to the Samsung devices. The outer side will still get appeared when the device is fully opened. Even if it is closed, it will have an extended hinge part.

Liverpool almost signed David Carmo of Braga and could pursue him again in the summer

0

Braga’s David Carmo will be one of the players Liverpool target for a big-spending next summer. That is according to transfer insiders Fabrizio Romano and Francesco Porzio on the Here We Go podcast on Patreon.

On the night before deadline day, they were looking for another player alongside Ben Davies, who joined the club from Preston North End. Kabak’s move was pursued the next morning, the deadline day.

They were trying to sign Carmo on deadline day eve and Braga wanted a €30 million release clause. No breakthrough was reached between the two clubs as Braga rejected Liverpool’s formal offer for the player. Medicals were held during lunchtime, but the deal collapsed.

Two bids were turned down during lunchtime on deadline day while David Carmo was having medicals for the Liverpool move which ultimately did not go through.

Ozan Kabak was Schalke’s most valuable player back when he was in the squad, and Liverpool have got themselves an option to buy, not an obligation. Looking back on the transfer saga, Carmo was considered as a serious option to solve Liverpool’s centre-back injury crisis.

Other Premier League clubs, alongside Liverpool could move for him in the future. But for now he remains an important asset for the club.

There was no prior expectation for two CB transfer deals from Liverpool. It was a surprise from the club, with Romano saying that he only expected one transfer for players at centre-back this transfer window.

The Milan-Kabak-Milenkovic transfer saga

AC Milan were interested in Schalke’s Ozan Kabak during this past transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano and Francesco Porzio on the Here We Go podcast on Patreon.

The player ultimately ended up joining Premier League champions Liverpool on deadline day in what is being reported as an initial six-month loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season.

Skriniar The Milan-Kabak-Milenkovic transfer saga

Another deal out of Milan was apparently linked with this one, according to the Italian transfer insiders. Had city rivals Inter Milan sold their centre-back option Milan Skriniar to Tottenham Hotspur during the summer, they would have bought Ozan Kabak for sure.

But the player stayed so there was no deal on the table for Ozan Kabak from either Milan club. No January move for Skriniar will be considered by the Nerazzurri either.

Milenkovic of Fiorentina was another option for Inter Milan because his contract expires in one year and he won’t extend his current deal at the club. He will also be one to keep an eye out for in the summer, according to the transfer insiders on their podcast.

AC Milan turned their attention later to Mohamed Simakan of Strasbourg, but the Frenchman got injured and later chose to join RB Leipzig. The Rossoneri then chose to sign Chelsea’s Fikayo Tomori on an initial loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the spell.

Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar is all set to extend his contract with the French Champions after years and years of speculation regarding the Brazilian’s future, with the player being linked back to Barcelona almost every single transfer window since his infamous snubbing of Barcelona for the Parisians in a world record deal.

Speaking on the player on the Here We Go podcast on Patreon, Fabrizio Romano and Francesco Porzio provided an update which put every PSG fan at ease, confirming that Neymar is in fact, very close to an agreement with the club regarding a new contract and will extend his stay till the next four years.

The club recently dismissed Thomas Tuchel and appointed former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, and the word out is that the Brazilian is very happy with his fellow South American at the club, and is also very impressed with the project that he finds at the club.

Romano and Porzio also commented on the fact that something seems to have changed in the player, and guessed that it was probably the effect of experience on the player that has changed his stance on PSG.

The transfer insiders also asserted that Neymar was not joking when he said he saw playing alongside former Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi as a goal for the new year. The Parisians are one of the only few clubs in the world who actually have the financial backing to move for Lionel Messi if, or, when his contract expires with Barcelona this summer.

The new contract tying Neymar down to Paris for the foreseeable future is set to be announced in the next few weeks.
