At this very moment, the most popular topic in the smartphone market is the Redmi Note 10 series. This draws us to Xiaomi’s recent tweet where they made it clear that there all the Redmi Note 10 series smartphones will have the first-ever 120Hz super AMOLED display which is going to launch on 4th March (tomorrow).

But a couple of days ago, the unboxing and hands-on video got leaked of the Redmi Note 10 series ahead of its launch which is quite astonishing. What we can see is that there will be three smartphones in this series: Redmi Note 10, Redmi Note 10 Pro, Redmi Note 10 Pro Max (no reports regarding the Max one). Let’s now talk about each of the smartphone’s leaked specifications and features.

Redmi Note 10

As per the leaked video, we can see the unboxing of the Redmi Note 10 device. The in-box contents are the main smartphone unit, Redmi Note 10 (4GB + 128GB), a 33W Power Adapter which is good to see, a USB-A to USB-C cable, a TPU case(Silicone material), and documentations.

Now, after the unboxing, let’s check out its specifications and features. The Redmi Note 10 runs MIUI 12.0.1 based on Android 11 and is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 678 chipset. Regarding the display, it will have a 6.43-inch AMOLED punch-hole panel (not confirmed about its 120Hz refresh rate). This phone has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and the support for IR Blaster as well.

The SOC of this phone is likely to be paired with 4GB RAM and 128GB expandable internal storage. Although, some other leaks claim that there will be 6GB RAM and 64GB storage options as well. Coming to the camera section, this phone has a quad rear camera setup that includes a 48MP primary sensor with an ultrawide, a macro, and a depth sensor as well. For selfies, this phone has a 13MP selfie snapper at the front. It has dual-speakers for a good multimedia experience. This phone has a 3.5mm audio jack and a USB-C port for faster charging.

The Redmi Note 10 is likely to be available in two different color options”: Green and White and the base model and the price range for the base model is expected to be of around ₹14,999($205).

Redmi Note 10 Pro

Like the vanilla one, an Indian Youtuber Sistech Banna has revealed the retail box image of the Redmi Note 10 Pro along with some of its key specifications. What we can see from the image is that the Note 10 Pro has a 6.53-inch FHD+ AMOLED display. It will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G chipset and is fueled up by a bigger 5,000mAH battery supported by 30W of fast charging.

The camera module specifications are still unclear of the Redmi Note 10 Pro like whether it has a 64MP or a 108MP quad rear camera setup. But, in terms of the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max, there is a higher possibility to be equipped with a 108MP rear camera setup.

Earlier reports have claimed that this phone is expected to arrive with three different RAM/storage variants: 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage, 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, and 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. This phone could be available in three different color options: Blue, Black, and Bronze, and the pricing is expected to be around Rs 20,000 (~$272).

Xiaomi’s Black Shark is a popular gaming smartphone manufacturer and just like last year, the Chinese manufacturer is all set to launch its next-generation gaming smartphone series, the Black Shark 4 series. There will be two new smartphones in this series: Black Shark 4 and the Black Shark 4 Pro. Recently, the key specifications of both the smartphone have been revealed online. So, let’s check out what are those.

As per the leaks, Black Snark 4 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chipset whereas the Pro variant will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset.

But, now it is expected that the 4,500mAH battery and 120W charging will be available for both the phones, vanilla and the Pro one.

Now, coming to its screen size and display resolution, last year’s Black Shark 3 arrived with a massive 7-inch AMOLED panel (1440p resolution) display supported by a faster refresh rate of 90Hz. But, this year’s Black Shark 4 display is likely to get cut down a bit and the resolution will get slightly lower as well, probably we can get a 6.67-inch screen with a 1080p resolution. As of now, we haven’t yet got a clearer view regarding the display section of both the smartphones of this series.

The smartphone is said to the world’s first smartphone with a 160Hz refresh rate display. It is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s latest mobile chipset, Snapdragon 888. The smartphone might house a robust 4,500mAh battery cell with support for 120 W fast charging. It is also said to have a very high touch sampling rate of 500Hz for a single finger. Red Magic 6 is expected to launch on 4th March 2021.

Chip Supply Crunch sees Chip Machinery Makers emerge as biggest Winners

Another of the coronavirus pandemic-related aftereffects included the sudden shortage of semiconductors that disrupted automotive production and limited revenue growth for Apple Inc, however, it has created a stock market boon for the makers of chip production equipment.

The supply crunch has seen companies who make chip production equipment emerge as the biggest winners as chipmakers rush to add more factory capacity. Applied Materials Inc., the world’s biggest equipment maker, is the best performer in a semiconductor index as its shares advance 36% this year. More than 19% gain has been seen by Brooks Automation Inc., Lam Research Corp., and KLA Corp. each, nearly twice the gain in the Philadelphia semiconductor index. Amid a broad technology slump following a two-day rally, the stocks fell on Tuesday.

Wall Street has been provided with increasing confidence that the rally has staying power due to the expanding equipment budgets by major chipmakers and governments concerned about foreign dominance of production facilities.

“Over the next three to five years, this is definitely very bullish for semi cap equipment in terms of overall tightness and focus on domestic supply,” said Krish Sankar, an analyst with Cowen & Co, according to Bloomberg.

A year ago, this shortfall seemed an unthinkable issue when a rapidly spreading Covid-19 virus sent economic activity plummeting. Companies began efforts to reduce production in anticipation of ebbing sales. Instead, after an initial shock, sales surged in many industries surged and companies were in shambles trying to boost inventories. Many chipmakers are now putting their factory production at maximum capacity and governments are suddenly looking at a dearth of homegrown plants as a national security risk.

Supply Crunch

After the supply crunch was brought to the notice of the U.S. administration by the automakers of the country, President Joe Biden signed an executive order last week to review the country’s supply chains for semiconductors and other products. While quick fixes aren’t expected to be, industry watchers say the long-term trend is clear: more equipment will be needed.

“The semiconductor industry is running on all cylinders, and you’re seeing companies that might in the past have been reluctant to commit to CapEx (capital expenditures) now all of a sudden trying to ramp up as quickly as they can,” said Daniel Morgan, a senior portfolio manager with Synovus Trust Co., which owns shares of Applied Materials.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), the largest chipmaker in the world, which produces chips for Apple and Broadcom Inc., plans to spend $12 billion to construct a plant in Arizona. A rally in chip-related stocks around the world was seen in January as TSMC included some of the costs for that facility in the company’s capital spending plans for 2021. Broadcom’s capital outlays could total as much as $28 billion, up from $17 billion in 2020.

Huge manufacturers like TSMC building smaller plants in new regions create particularly attractive opportunities for Applied Materials, CEO Gary Dickerson said on the Santa Clara, California-based company’s earnings call last month.

“You have to look at the scale of the factories they’re building and at least what’s been announced is smaller scale,” he said. “That somewhat less efficient factory size is a positive for Applied.”

In addition to Applied Materials, top picks for Cowen’s Sankar include MKS Instruments Inc. and Lam Research.

“You have an environment where demand is very strong, supply is constrained and then you add to it domestic supply build-out,” the analyst said in an interview. “At some point, these things will normalize, but it won’t be any time soon.”

For the last quarter of a century, Inter Milan’s kits have all had the Pirelli logo in the centre, with the thought of seeing a blue and black shirt without the iconic Pirelli logo feeling extremely uncomfortable to the imagination. However, the financial conditions are such that they warrant a change in sponsorship.

Italian tyre manufacturers Pirelli have been on Inter Milan’s shirts for the last 26 years, and are set to end their £10 million a year partnership to an end at the end of the season, with club owners Suning company desperate for financial partners among the dire financial situation due to the pandemic.

While we will not be seeing the Pirelli logo on Inter Milan shirts after this season anymore, they are still going to continue their partnership with Inter. Chinese property development group Evergrande Group are emerging as the potential replacements for the title of Inter’s shirt sponsors.

‘As part of ongoing capital structure and liquidity management, the business and our ownership are in talks to provide a range of solutions in this respect,’ the club said.

‘While Suning have confirmed their commitment to financially support the club with or without additional external support, it is also sensible and prudent to look outside.

‘With that in mind, Suning appointed key advisers in Asia to work with them to find suitable partners, be that with an injection of equity capital or otherwise.’

Club owners Suning have reportedly halted operations and are in a very difficult position with all of their assets. And it remains to be seen who emerges as a saviour for the Serie A table toppers in this difficult time.

Chelsea are looking at teenage sensation Lucas Gourna-Douath of St Etienne as the first signing for Thomas Tuchel this summer. According to Foot Mercato, Chelsea are contemplating a move worth £23 million for the young midfielder in the summer, with it being widely believed that St Etienne need to raise funds through player sales.

Lucas Gourna-Douath has featured 23 times for the Ligue 1 outfit this season and has also caught the eye of Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino, who saw the player perform against his team in his first game in charge.

The 17-year-old is being heralded as one of the most talented young midfielders in the league, with regular first-team opportunities coming his way already. The player has a contract until 2023 and could be sold for well over his market value this summer if Chelsea do indeed go for the player.

AC Milan and RB Leipzig are also being linked with a move for the player, and are scouting the player regularly. However, only Chelsea are considering a concrete move for the player as of right now. The player could follow Leicester City starlet Wesley Fofana and Arsenal’s William Saliba as St Etienne academy graduates who went to the Premier League.

Gourna-Douath has featured for the France U17 team 4 times, scoring a goal and could be one for the future with the right guidance and the right attitude. For now, there is still a long way to go for the youngster and the player is surely doing something right if the big clubs are all watching him so closely.
